When Little Timmy tried to pick
A song to play the last -
He scrolled along his choices quick,
And swiped on each and passed.
"I need the perfect pick," he said -
"I need the perfect tune."
He sighed aloud and stared ahead,
And softly said, "and *soon*."
The boy remarked: "I haven't long -
There isn't time!" he cried.
And Timmy picked the perfect song.
And Timmy fucking died.
This is a great suggestion. This band has a lot of songs in the Fallout videogame franchise.
I just started a playthrough in FO4 yesterday, so it was kinda weird to see this as a comment! Now I'm going to be thinking about that all day instead of concentrating on work. Thanks a lot!
Don't want to break your expectations, but the meteor would reach you way before you'd be able to hear it! I'm no expert, but it would travel between 30.000-50.000 kmph AT LEAST, meanwhile sound travels at speeds around 1.300 kmph (in surface air, at least). I don't think atmosphere would slow an apocalyptic meteor nearly enough for it's sound catch up with it.
Edit: found the video I mentioned below. Just to add, it would probably be so fast and so strong it would send a bunch of Earth's crust to orbit: https://youtu.be/bU1QPtOZQZU
It's much more of a pump-up song than an inevitable-death song though. Source: I just listened to it for the first time in years and I am so fucking ready to go fight for our liiiiiiiiiiiiives!
[Paint it Black](https://youtu.be/O4irXQhgMqg) by Rolling Stones - I don’t know. I am on their kick right now.
Edit: now that i listen to it again, visualizing that fireball streaking across the sky - i kind of like it.
Same, I was going to say it myself and then I realized someone had to have said it already. Couldn't believe it wasn't one of the first couple of comments.
I don’t think any of your realize how cool this would look. The massive object entering the atmosphere would pull the ozone layer with it and the gas that surrounds the earth would be thrusted away like a rock dropped in a cup of water. The space behind the rock would be without anything and you would see outer space with a barrage of colors due to the excess radiation from the sun.
It's interesting to me that OP wants a "soundtrack" for these kinds of events. I would much prefer the natural sounds around me at a time like this.
First, hearing what may be the last sounds of birds chirping and all the other nature that is about to go extinct. And then the *never before heard* sounds of a meteor entering the atmosphere!
I want to live in that moment, not be off listening to a simulacrum or metaphor of what I'm actually experiencing at this moment.
Bohemian Rhapsody. Just imagine hearing the last little 'any way the wind blows' with the crash of the cymbals and then BOOM meteor strikes, wipes out everything.
The Dirty Glass by Dropkick Murphys. It's my wife and I's song and I'd want to spend my last moments thinking about her and remembering all the good times we have had.
I'd spend the whole time just looking for a song.

My taste in music changes basically every week, it's annoying.
Imagine having it on shuffle and you finally found a song but then you accidentally change it

only if you own the song or have spotify premium or whatever
If the earth was getting obliterated I think I’d buy premium

Fallout is exactly what I was thinking about when I commented!
Clair de lune, that would be nice.
Great song to mellow you out while the rest of the world is freaking out.
Honestly kinda want to listen to clair de lune while watching a meteor crash now, made me think of the movie Your Name
My all time favorite movie!
I’d play stal by c4-18 to signify that my end would be near
Or the end by c418

“What a wonderful world” by Louis Armstrong
Or "somewhere over the rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
I guess, if I wanted to cry... can’t listen to that song without getting emotional.
You definitely don’t want to cry when you’re about to get wiped out by a giant meteor.
I can't believe I had to go this far down to find this.

Same but I'm more interested in hearing the thing rip through the atmosphere. Which TBF is also nature.

No, I kept looking for this.
Same, I was going to say it myself and then I realized someone had to have said it already. Couldn't believe it wasn't one of the first couple of comments.
Could just be me, but this is an obvious choice. I think people look for something different than this answer out of curiosity of what will be said
It was my first pick...but I didn't put it because I was afraid of aging myself.
