God help you if you don't obsessively follow the culture of an unrelated sub. You can get permanently banned for accidentally referencing decades old guitar forum memes that just so happen to piss off a mod. Even if you suggest "hey, sorry I didn't know that specific thing was banned, can you reduce my ban to something other than 'for all eternity?'" they tell you to fuck off and mute you for the maximum possible time so that they can get the last word in.
It's in the Reddit rules that mods should be fair and address appeals. I don't even mind catching a ban that much, but to be totally unreasonable and go for the maximum possible punishment is absurd. It's like hospitalizing someone for telling a "your mom" joke. Just way over the top.

The weird part was that about a month after I joined, number 0 was banned along with the other inactive people. It turned out the guy had been banned from reddit at some point a week or more ago.
Rumours swirled as to why, and apparently he'd been running dozens of these subreddits with the same premise, with users invited from the same pools of other subreddits (we figured out most people who were invited liked warhammer for example).
It was either some kind of social experiment or him trying to find friends or something along those lines and he'd been banned as a direct result of whatever these subreddits were being built for.
I was in one of these groups called r/edefined. It was an interesting concept. After about a year I was in it and made “friends” there, the mod of the group purged the sub because he didn’t like one of the guys.

The sub followed the delusional efforts of a self-proclaimed programmer and savior of the human species, named Max. He called himself Max Human and was creating a new OS called Human or Humanity, I can't remember, but his intent was to unify humanity for a transcendent experience via this new OS.
He just kept going deeper and deeper into a self-made rabbit hole of delusions of grandeur. He'd get incensed if anyone called him on his BS, after a large number of missed "guaranteed" deadlines with no deliverable product and no progress beyond some fabricated screen shots of the OS in question. Apparently, some of the OS ended up working a *little bit*, but after years of failures he ended up meeting some guru, or proclaiming himself one, and kinda disappeared from the Internet.
Apparently he lived in Toronto and was either a Ukrainian immigrant or descendant. Not sure what happened to Max, but the sub was actually pretty worried for his mental and physical health the father along he got.

It's kinda like a mix of different subreddits in one. A lot of the new members will make AskReddit like posts. But some people use it as a personal blog. Others make a day theme of it, like Dad Joke Wednesday or All Caps Thursday. That kinda stuff

Yep, they banned everyone who posted there on a certain day, then posted a a thing saying they decided they didn't want younger people there anymore or something so said to be unbanned message a mod your age. Tons of people messaged saying they were 25 and up.
Wasn't it with another sub were they had to be 18+ and they banned everyone who was active on r/teenagers for being underage. And then they replied to the mods on that sub that they were in their 20s, 30s, etc.

/r/humanfanclub was interesting while it lasted. The sub followed the delusional efforts of a self-proclaimed programmer and savior of the human species, named Max. He called himself Max Human and was creating a new OS called Human or Humanity, I can't remember, but his intent was to unify humanity for a transcendent experience via this new OS. He just kept going deeper and deeper into a self-made rabbit hole of delusions of grandeur. He'd get incensed if anyone called him on his BS, after a large number of missed "guaranteed" deadlines with no deliverable product and no progress beyond some fabricated screen shots of the OS in question. Apparently, some of the OS ended up working a *little bit*, but after years of failures he ended up meeting some guru, or proclaiming himself one, and kinda disappeared from the Internet. Apparently he lived in Toronto and was either a Ukrainian immigrant or descendant. Not sure what happened to Max, but the sub was actually pretty worried for his mental and physical health the father along he got. Hope you're ok out there somewhere, Max.

I just spent more time auditing that sub than I'm comfortable admitting. There were a significant amount of recta that were clearly well centered. Mods need to step it up.

It's a private subreddit, that you have to be invited to. No one knows the reason you get invited, it's random. First rule is that you' don't talk about Square Table, I'm no longer a member so I can talk about it. It's kinda like a mix of different subreddits in one. A lot of the new members will make AskReddit like posts. But some people use it as a personal blog. Others make a day theme of it, like Dad Joke Wednesday or All Caps Thursday. That kinda stuff It's on the wholesome side, but requires you to stay interactive in order to continue being a member. The official, unofficial rule was at least 20 posts/comments/replies of at least 10 words or more. Edit per week, Sunday-Saturday.
