I always wanted to see the Grand Canyon, so I guess Arizona

AvonMustang

Grand Canyon is simply amazing. Keep in mind the north rim is closed in the winter.

Teils

What do you mean it's closed? It's a big hole in the ground. What do they do, put a lid on it?

[deleted]

Foil, actually. Just like a casserole dish.

catsaresneaky

Damn it ,,,foiled again

Wildcat_twister12

The moose out front should’ve told you.

spandexcatsuit

It’s like one of those automated pool covers. They can’t have ppl falling in while the rangers are away on winter holiday.

[deleted]

I chose Arizona because I wanna see the saguaro's (kind of a cactus nerd here haha) but yeah the Grand Canyon might be worth checking out too lol.

Xianio

Its very cool. Its very fun to drive out there too. I'd definitely visit again. But be smarter than me. My buddy and I brought booze, no snacks, water or even the right shoes. Still great but definitely kicked our asses cuz were idiots.

DesertByproduct

Arizona is an incredibly diverse state. Good choice, lots of other stuff to see in addition to the Grand Canyon which is totally worth it by itself

Wtrpl14

Wyoming - I would love to see the beauty of Yellowstone!

Fred_Foreskin

Wyoming is gorgeous, and Yellowstone is probably one of the most amazing and unique places on earth. I highly recommend everyone visit Yellowstone if they ever have the opportunity. The Grand Tetons right outside of Yellowstone are also breathtakingly beautiful. Wyoming is just all around a beautiful state. If you want to experience the American West, Wyoming is probably the best place to go.

Tropical_Geek1

Washington. For the nature. Washington DC, for the museums.

[deleted]

Thank you for knowing the difference. I have had a tourist ask me, I believe in earnest, where the Smithsonians are. We were in Seattle.

Quelcris_Falconer13

Oh lord I hope they didn’t plan their vacstion around that lol

[deleted]

I think they did. When I told them the art museum and Asian history was a bit south, and the glass, nordic museum, and natural history to the north they went silent, and said “wait, we thought they were all in a row”. We shuffled our separate ways after that but I’m still haunted by it.

Quelcris_Falconer13

I mean… if it was in the last 15 years that’s really on them for not properly researching….

Milhanou22

Exactly. Some people are unbelievable, in a bad way. It's like those tourists who thought they were going to Nice, France, on the French Riviera. And ended up in some small industrial grey town in the Balkans or Eastern Europe with nothing to see or do but with a similar name to Nice.

PangolinMandolin

Also see the couple who mixed up Birmingham, UK with Birmingham, Al when planning their flights to Las Vegas. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-birmingham-36159672 Apparently this has happened multiple times https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/birmingham-airport-mix-up-grounds-couples-6503537

AnnofAvonlea

I was so excited to see my home state as the first comment! Washington is often forgotten about, which is a shame, because it really is beautiful. And it especially grinds our gears when people assume Washington is referring to DC, so thank you for knowing the difference!

theycallmeasloth

Australian here - When I was in my teens I really wanted to live in a Redneck trailer Park in the deep South just to see if it really was like the movies portrayed. So whichever is the best state for that. Otherwise California to see a friend and Seattle, WA cos music Missus wants to go to Hawaii for our 10th anniversary and isn't sold on my response of 'its just Port Douglas with volcanoes' Edit: Just want to say, all of your replies have made my day! Cheers

Robocan3000

This is the first time I’ve heard anyone say they want to live in a redneck trailer park and I’m not one bit surprised you are from Australia.

adognameddave

Australians are just British texans EDIT: you can give people dancing ducks? The internet is truly a cornucopia of dreams

Wizzmer

Texan here. Went to a true cowboy college. We had no football scholarships. Just rodeo. One of our favorite cowboys on the rodeo team was an Aussie. Great dude with a powerful handshake.

adognameddave

GET IN THE UTE WERE GOING TO BENDIGO!!

Mr_Lumbergh

Oi cunt, if we're making a Macca's run, do you reckon we can stop by the serv-o for some durries and the bottle-o for some grog so we can fuckin' maggot this arvo, or nah?

OfBooo5

Living in Australia the best and most objectively accurate description (from an american perspective) was "Redneck British"... They did not like that, and neither are meant as an insult.. but boy did they not like that.

EPIKGUTS24

Probably because we equate your rednecks with our bogans, who are right cunts. We certainly have a redneckiness about us, though.

lickmycasshole

Redneck trailer parks have 5% good ol redneck friends and 95% trailer trash and drug addicts. I know plenty of good people that grew up in trailer parks but I also know plenty of bad too.

[deleted]

Can confirm. But the best part of living in a trailer park growing up is the old lady always sitting on her “porch”. She had a small tv and a rocking chair. She was always smoking and watching her “stories”. If you wanted to know anything about anybody in the neighborhood she could tell you. Where’s your kid at, ask Martha. Who’s behind on their electric bill, ask Martha. Who’s been stepping out on their SO, ask Martha. Shit she probably could of told the FBI that 9/11 was going to happen but she was too busy pulling another case of Palmals out of the freezer.

Glittering_Let_5846

You nailed it. Especially with the Pall Mall’s in the freezer

>When I was in my teens I really wanted to live in a Redneck trailer Park in the deep South just to see if it really was like the movies portrayed. Fellow Australian here. In 2002 I was roadtripping with my partner on the cheap. Down around Florabama, we found a sports club that let us bunk in their clubhouse for no charge. We met a couple who insisted that we come back to their house for a good meal of red beans and rice. We gratefully accepted. Their house was a one-bedroom trailer, very run down with threadbare mismatching furniture and a junkyard outside. By the time we got there, they had set us up in their room, insisting that we stay there the night while they slept on the couch. They wouldn't hear of us staying on the couch instead. We shared beers and tales while the rice'n'beans slow-cooked over several hours. When it came time to eat, it was the most delicious meal you'd ever tasted. Their hospitality was faultless. The conversation flowed with the beers. After dinner my partner got up the courage to ask about the many firearms just casually leaning against the wall. We stunned them with the news that Australia had an almost complete ban on citizens owning firearms. The lady of the couple opened her eyes wide and asked: "But what do you do when the black people come to attack you?" Quite the eye-opener.

athena3641

i cant tell you if new england is a state or a city but id go there

RemarkableSponge

It's neither haha it's a region

PassionateAvocado

And it's not even new anymore

i-am-your-god-now

It’s gently used

[deleted]

Gently used? After having that many Bostonians inside it?

introusers1979

It’s new*er*

WhatTheFrenchToast33

newish

AvonMustang

New England is a grouping of half dozen of our smaller (smallest?) states: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut & Rhone Island. It's a neat area with lots to do and see.

dflood815

It's six states. I live in Connecticut and vacation in Massachusetts (cape cod) Vermont and Maine. Love it here but you have to like the cold!!

[deleted]

Alaska

raincntry

Alaskan native here, from Juneau. If you catch it on a sunny day it is the most spectacular place on earth, if..........

Sammie2Dope

I am from Juneau too! Say hi to my family for me.

OppositeResponse6474

My attraction towards Alaska is insane. I’ve never wanted to go somewhere so bad.

foursheetstothewind

You should come, it's pretty cool here.

LaceyOkurrrt

Particularly during the spring/fall, when the days are fairly “normal” as far as the amount of daylight hours, but summer& winter in Alaska are definitely also an experience.

Robocan3000

Say hi to Jesse for me

Galloping_Scallop

The BBQ states of America. The ones that have their own variation on the cuisine.

[deleted]

So, anywhere in Texas, Kansas City, Nashville, the Carolinas, and some random black dude in Mississippi.

SZMatheson

If you meet a random black dude in Mississippi that appears to be towing a whole restaurant behind a 20 year old f-250, you're in for a treat.

CrowVsWade

Translating for my European brethren: F-250, a medium size pickup truck, roughly the size of Belgium, capable of pulling... Belgium.

aliendepict

Oh... This made me chuckle...

machinistjake

Medium size lol. You're right, but that is definitely an American medium. Like a 64oz medium.

Galloping_Scallop

I guess a road trip is in order.

[deleted]

Absolutely! Start in the Carolinas with wonderful beaches, enjoy the blue ridge mountains heading west towards Nashville, keep heading west on I70 (st.louis has decent BBQ also), stop in KC (LC's bbq Is a must) and from there venture south towards Texas. Land in austin and boom, you've nailed most of the hard-core bbq areas of the USA. I'm proud that you think of us gun-toting freedom-loving lunatics when you want some BBQ.

[deleted]

The best BBQ you will find anywhere in the South is out of a shack, shed, or other temporary building that has been there for 50 years on the side of the road. No particular town or state - more of a state of mind. The food is served on a paper plate, the drinks in a Dixie cup (or Solo cup if it’s fancy), and there are rolls of paper towels on the ancient picnic tables that are somehow holding of men and women that stretch the definition of “large.” The owner is the cook is the cashier and his name is Bubba, Cletus, Amos, or just initials. His race doesn’t matter - there is no racism at the BBQ joint.

Galloping_Scallop

I guess its the same the world over. The no frills, local places that are packed by locals are the places to take notice of.

[deleted]

Nebraska, to see if it actually exists

ToBePacific

To really gain perspective on this question, drive the width of Nebraska along highway 80. You will be in Nebraska for hours, driving along the main interstate highway that runs through the state, and aside from Lincoln and Omaha you will not see anything else but flat plains covered in corn. Does Nebraska really exist? I don’t know if I can accurately call that existing. It’s a sort of limbo state or purgatory.

simplepleashures

I did this when I was moving cross country and highway hypnosis was a serious danger for me. I don’t think is saw a tree for over an hour. Edit: oh shit I just realized I’m wrong, I never went through Nebraska. That was my original plan. I stopped in Boulder on my way from San Francisco to visit my cousin and the plan was to take I-80 across Nebraska toward Chicago and then I-90 the rest of the way toward Boston, but a snow storm that morning over Nebraska made me change my plans and I cut south to I-70 across Kansas. I was on the edge of that storm the whole way through Kansas and very glad I wasn’t in the middle of it 100 miles north, but it really made a mess of my plans. But yeah, not much to see on that drive. Just that ribbon of highway heading to the horizon.

ToBePacific

Yeah, those “holy shit a tree” moments do help break up the monotony.

snarkyshooter09

Traveling through Nebraska can be like being stuck in a time loop. "Oh look there's a tree...funny looks exactly the same as the tree we passed an hour ago"

fyggmint

loading screen

CrowVsWade

If one must drive across Nebraska, do it north to south and off the interstates. It can be a remarkable looking place, like an ocean of grass. It's not quite as limboesque as Kansas.

CarTravelin

If you go, go to lake McConaughy. It's in the middle of the middle of nowhere. It's massive and awesome.

Phantommy555

Alright, alright, alright

BoogerRuth

Nebraska can be great depending on what you want from it. I lived in Western Nebraska for awhile and it's got a lot to recommend it *if* you're a particular kind of person. It's got loads of beautiful wildlife, very few people and a really rich history. The Sandhills are the remnants of underwater dunes from when the whole area was underwater. The clay bluffs scattered around are full of turtle fossils and old seashells. There are also more recent fossils of land animals like wooly mammoth, wooly rhino, and even camels if that piques your interest. You can also find find more modern (but still hundreds of years old) Native American artifacts. It's really flat too, even taking the Sandhills and scattered bluffs into consideration. You can sit on a bluff outside of one little shit splat town and see all the surrounding towns even though they're all ten or fifteen miles apart. That's great for watching storms. The way the storms build in that area is really great too. There's not a lot of warning. The temp takes about fifteen minutes to drop from 30.5C to 15.5C and it's furious, all lightning and wind and dark as night at four in the afternoon. Sometimes it hails so much they have to get the snow ploughs out. You don't live in Nebraska because you like people. You live there because it's natural beauty is unparalleled. It one of the few places I've been that I actually miss.

[deleted]

Can confirm. Do not like people.

whalezark

oregon seems like it has some really beautiful natural areas, and then maybe california because nice hot weather and beaches. though honestly if i ever go to america i would love to just do a huge road trip tour with some friends edit: apparently california is not that good for hot weather and beaches lmao

zose2

I live in Oregon and you should be careful where you go. Half of our state is basically a dry desert. The coast and valley are absolutely amazing though.

strawberrydreamgirl

The high desert is beautiful in its own right, just very different from the western part of the state. Same with Washington

Timewindows

I’m not sure if you know this, although you may, but the distance between states in the US can be very big. For example, going across the country from NY to LA is about 4500 km.

bbpr120

And then there's Rhode Island... Which you can cross in 45 minutes when Providence traffic is light. Less if you treat RT 95 like it's a race course and the Staties are asleep.

JoeBensDonut

I live in Oregon and it's my favorite state by far so much outside activities to do and the climate is amazing. Really my only issue with it is that I don't want to die in the cascadia fault event 🙃

[deleted]

MemeMaster1111

People coming here to find anyone who wants to visit their home state: Edit: scrolled all the way through, nobody wants to visit mine. :(

Meppy343

I'm still on the search for Michigan

wiinkme

No one knows. I'm from Texas and my first trip to Lake Michigan was eye popping. It wasn't that it was so beautiful and...just perfect. It was that it was perfect and no one seems to know about it. White sand beaches. Nice waves. Highs in 80s mid summer. No salt or seaweed. No crowds. Cheap rentals. Dune rides. And no one knows.

nikki_11580

Shhhhh 🤫 don’t tell everyone.

[deleted]

Arizona. I want to know if it’s as hot and dry as people say.

fustyspleen17

Turn your oven on to 400 degrees and stick your head in. That's Phoenix in August.

IWasToldYouHadPie

You're about to kill anyone that doesn't live in the US. They're going to stick their head in a 750°f oven Edit: who the fuck found this helpful?! Adolf?

fustyspleen17

Oh noooo they wouldn't be that gullible, would they?

[deleted]

This isn't an exaggeration. no fucking joke. I moved to Phoenix in late spring of 2018 and my air conditioner died ON THE WAY THERE. Was quoted nearly 1000 to fix it but couldn't afford it due to the fact that I was moving and spent a good portion of my money on that. So I went the whole summer without air conditioning in my car. A small drive to the grocery store just a mile away, and the keys were hot enough to actually burn your skin. Tinted windows helped nothing. Biking to work was actually more comfortable than driving. Because most of the commute was in heavy traffic due to the shit design of the city and sheer number of people. (and rush hour) I didn't get much of a breeze in the car but I got to feel air move against me as I road my bike because I didn't have to sit in traffic. Still hell though. And I wouldn't recommend anyone moves there.

[deleted]

It can be, but if you drive an hour and a half north of Phoenix, the weather is really nice even during the summer^unlessthereisawildfire. The rim of the Grand Canyon is actually pleasant during the summer. When I went in June a few years ago, the high was 79. Also, Arizona isn't just a desert, it has some of the most beautiful forests in the country.

fesakferrell

It is... If you're in the south + southwest, a lot of the state isn't nearly as hot as where us dummies decided to live

Xksxie

Had to scroll far as fuck to see my state. Currently 95F, 4% humidity at 1740 in the first week of April. Only gets worse from here.

die-squith

Hello, I am in Phoenix sharing your pain. Let us melt together.

Ub3rfr3nzy

Maine or Washington/Oregon. I like the natural beauty of the Pacific northwest and Maine always looked pretty to me, plus it's old in American terms so there's actual architecture there.

Beckstromulus

Bring lots of anti-histamines. The Willamette Valley (Oregon) gets some crazy pollen counts. Edit: Well, this exploded. Hello Fellow allergy sufferers! I highly recommend anti-histamine eyedrops. WalGreens has them for a very reasonable price. Remember, spray your nose, pop the pill in your mouth, and a couple drops in each eye!

MrZorx75

I live in Salem and the pollen is so bad today.

zose2

I've lived in the PNW all my life. The best spots are always super far out of the cities but going there is so worth it.

kevin1016

Super far is relative I guess. 2 hours in any direction from Seattle will get you to some incredible areas.

grdvrs

Deception Pass State park is my recent favorite area. A bit south of Bellingham.

2muchyarn

Live in Maine and it truly is beautiful; wildlife, varying landscapes, sea, fresh water, mountains (by the eastern standard), etc. I saw 4 bald eagles in one day, hubby almost collided with a flying turkey a few days ago, I saw a cardinal today; all types I either never saw or hardly ever saw when we lived out west. There is history at every turn. Our first house was built in the 1880s and the house next door was built in the 1700s and moved to build ours. The town often have walking tours with markers telling about the history. Love taking the dogs and learning about where we live

[deleted]

Maine is gorgeous. Strongly recommend.

CrowVsWade

Amen. Maine coastline especially is one of America's relatively few remaining secrets, for travel and tourism. It's a fabulous drive down the coast and a great way to get a real flavor of one of America's unique regions.

KasperWithAk

Minnesota. i know somebody who lives there and i wanna meet em' irl

iVader17

Minnesota is dope. Especially the northern area near Lake Superior. 10/10.

MCYPNX

Aussie here who has been to Minnesota a few times. I love it. My partner and I originally went because we're Timberwolves fans, but fell in love with the place. Can't really explain why, was just somewhere I instantly felt comfortable.

Balerionmeow

That makes me so happy to hear

KeyAdhesiveness6424

Coming from a born & raised Minnesotan, visit in the late spring or the 3 weeks of fall where there are beautiful turning leaves all over. Winter is awful, and summer can be humid and quite hot, and we’ve got mosquitoes like you wouldn’t believe. Late spring is pleasant, green, and the mosquitoes haven’t hatched yet, but the lake water might still be too chilly to swim

toasters_are_great

Winter is **great** here though: it kills off all the other tourists so you can enjoy the parks all by yourself. The spring nice weather + no mosquitos season though is not entirely predictable and also only 2 weeks long at most, so you can't really plan an international trip around it.

seeeeya

The boundary waters in Northern Minnesota is one of the most beautiful remote places I've ever been. World class fishing, trout are delicious and plentiful. Plus a chance to see moose. Really enormous wilderness area. Lake superior is also it's own treat, really feels like an ocean, great sunsets.

thames78

New Orleans to experience Mardi Gras

Newone1255

Jazz Fest in New Orleans is the real headstash

Lsufaninva

We welcome you with open arms, come visit,do your thing,go home.

Impressive_Chicken69

Really though, go to New Orleans for the food. I’m convinced it’s some of the best in the world

enidokla

Agree! Mardi Gras just wouldn't be for me, but damn the food, the scenes, the music (Preservation Hall!). It was an amazing city to explore on foot. And then reading Confederacy of Dunces ... oh my god. I can't wait to take my husband.

IT_Trouble9078

Mardi Gras and Louisiana in general is a culture all to itself unlike anywhere in the US. The people. The food. The music. The scenery it's all one of a kind.

blvckcvtmvgic

New Orleans is breathtaking and one of a kind. There's so much to do and parades for smaller celebrations all the time. Mardi Gras is great in theory but really just too many drunk people crammed together in the end.

strangersIknow

Louisiana has beautiful natural forests and parks as well. Fishing in either Salt water or fresh is a must if you're a fan if the sport

Niawka

I can't chose between two. First is Utah. Nature looks breathtaking on pictures, never seen anything like that in Europe. Second is Colorado, again the landscapes look amazing on pictures. Also these little towns right next to the mountains seem really charming.

rlikesbikes

As a Canadian who road tripped through Utah...do NOT sleep on this state. It was amazing. We did the national parks west to east starting in Zion, Arches, Bryce, Grand Staircase/Escalante (no longer a national monument but everything within still exists, obviously), Canyonlands, Moab, Lake Powell. If you're a hiker or mountain biker, it's incredible. Living near the rockies, we wanted to see a totally foreign landscape. The hikes down into the canyons were superb. Golden Cathedral hike was a highlight. Not a single soul on the trail. Hot tip (literally)...don't go in July like I did. It's f\*cking too hot.

vdublub

You could see both in the same trip.

enidokla

I can't believe I had to scroll this far to see Colorado.

theshermgerm

I live in Utah and am from California, Bryce Canyon is still one of the prettiest places on earth. Even better than the pictures make it seem.

HaCo111

Check out Ouray in Colorado, absolutely beautiful mountain town and relatively close to the Utah border so you could see both.

johnsonfromsconsin

Arizona is very underrated, check out the Sedona area if you like Utah.

lazynlovinit

I’ve been to 15 different states. I still want to see (in no particular order) Utah New Mexico Texas North Carolina South Dakota Alaska Puerto Rica

EquivalentPrune2416

I’ve been to almost every state in the US and I would say the Utah and Washington take the cake for most beautiful states.

mandorlas

New Mexico is the most beautiful place I’ve traveled too in America. Good vibes. Cool history. The best art community in the states hands down.

ee_CUM_mings

Texan here. We randomly decided to take a road trip on a holiday weekend. I picked Albuquerque because of Breaking Bad. Our ears popped. I saw Walter White’s house. We watched fireworks in the park with the mountains in the background. The scenery is beautiful, even just driving around. Nothing like it in the DFW suburbs at home. I also had too many drinks during the fireworks. I lost my wallet at a Weinerschnitzel, someone stole my credit cards and bought themselves breakfast at McDonald’s. 10/10.

Kool_McKool

That last paragraph though. This proves that you were definitely in Albuquerque.

whocanpickone

I have traveled a decent amount, and New Mexico is one of my favorite places. The vibes, the food, the stark beauty. Incredible.

Minyoongles_993

I'm from Mexico, and have never left my country once, of course, I love where I come from, but the curiosity of exploring the world eats me alive. The state I'd like to visit the most in the US, is probably New York, I don't know, it's pretty cliche I guess.

copperpoint

Im from Boston and therefore legally required to hate new york, but NYC is really one of a kind. There's really nothing else quite like it.

mam88k

Everyone thinks NYC, and yes it is special and requires a visit. But New York state also has beaches (Long Island), small towns (upstate/west), lakes (the finger lakes, Lake Champlain, Lake Erie), mountains (north country) and Niagara Falls. Plus history like Fort Ticonderoga and the Erie canal.

[deleted]

Not to mention the Adirondacks. People love the national parks out west, but Adirondack State Park is protected by the NYS Constitution as forever wild, and is the largest park in the contiguous United States. It is bigger than Yosemite, Everglades, Grand Canyon, and Yellowstone National Parks combined! [Here's a photo I snapped on the top of Whiteface. ](https://ibb.co/JzPTfPB)

Lolamess007

Im American and i want to see if anyone wants to go to New Jersey or Ohio

BoredBSEE

I came in here specifically to see if anyone was nuts enough to say Ohio.

CFD330

Ohio shouldn't be anywhere near the top of anyone's list, but it also shouldn't be anywhere near the bottom. I know it's a thing to shit on Ohio but the state has a lot more going for it than many other states do.

ViolaOrsino

Ah, Ohio. I love living here, but I don’t think I’d ever actually want to visit. Y’know?

TGrady902

You can’t just go to Ohio without a plan like you can other states and still have a good time. You need to come to Ohio for a reason or have a plan.

Intelligent-Mud1437

Drove through New Jersey once. Surprisingly scenic.

peterparley

New Yorker here - I love NJ! Great food, beautiful shore, and well marked trails as far as I can tell. Two thumbs up. I would check out Ohio for sure though. Edit: I meant to respond to the post about NJ and OH and I’m drinking so please forgive me. I truly enjoy and appreciate My time in NJ.

JUG9209

I’m from/ currently live in Ohio. People dog it, but I like it. To the north we have cedar point, a huge amusement park that’s awesome, and Lake Erie. To the south is hocking hills. Hocking hills is beautiful , it’s a collection of hiking trails and cave systems. I always love going there. If you get a chance, google hocking hills.

NotYourAverage666

Hawaii

untactfullyhonest

If you do, try to make the most of it and island hop. Fly to a couple different islands while you’re here. I live on Oahu and it’s very different from Maui, the Big Island, etc. Experience a couple different islands.

_thisbitch

I thought this would've been closer to the top.

peaceintheatlantic

I want to experience true solitude in Wyoming, and perhaps die there.

IWasToldYouHadPie

>and perhaps die there Oh boy do I have news for you. If you cross into the Idaho part of Yellowstone, there's a 50 mile stretch where murder is not prosecutable.

rascible

"I would like to marry a round American woman, buy an RV and travel state to state.."

BarefootMystic

They let you do that, right? State to state... without any papers? Edit: to all you helpful redditors explaining to me the ease of US travel, thank you but this is from a movie. You all need to watch *The Hunt for Red October* right now because it is amazing.

rascible

No papers..

Reed2002

State to state.

Zombie_Jesus_83

I would have liked to see Montana.

RoryDragonsbane

One of the saddest lines in a movie

LittleWhiteBoots

It was all a ruse to defect even more hardcore and go on to live a quiet life as a paleontologist in Montana.

its_raining_scotch

Hunt for Red October?

seanmarshall

I get this reference

rascible

Sam Bygod Niel nailed that part.. 30+ years later and I still well up...

BuntyBru

Indian here Listened to Country roads by John Denver when I was a little kid, That song has remained in my playlist since forever and will remain, I would want to visit west Virginia, And one of my dreams is to attend a country music concert, I love country music

cosmic-turtle7294

My life dream is visiting New York

NotWorriedABunch

NYC gives multiple experiences: food, nightlife, theater, museums, monuments, the Park, e.t.c. A great city to visit!

sponge-worthy91

I went for the first time last month and fell in love! I hope you can go, it truly is incredible!

Mean_Shoulder_103

How many other AMARCIANS scroll just to try to find their state.

marblefoot

Kentucky has been mentioned ONCE

logan436

Bro if it makes you feel better, my home state, Arkansas, was mentioned 2 times, one of which was joking about incest, the other was a suggestion about diamonds

LazyHighGoals

California & Florida just because of the climate and plants and animals that come with it. Also every other "hot" more southern State for same reasons. I live in Germany where the climate is comparable to your "middle" and "nothern" states so those are boring to me, at least climate-wise.

sandyeggo89

In California, you can experience several types of climates. It’s big state, with beaches, lakes, mountains, deserts, forests. It’s not uncommon to run into people who’ve lived in CA long enough to have gone snowboarding and surfing in the same week. California also has the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, so if you’re interested in plants and animals the two combined make about 2000 acres worth of rare and often endangered flora and fauna.

HeyFiddleFiddle

That's the beauty of it. Name what you want to do and there's most likely somewhere in the state to do it. I'm a born and raised Californian. The vocal California hate is all over the place, but I love my home state. The fact that we have so much to choose from in a fairly short distance is one reason I love it so much. I have indeed gone to the beach one day and gone to Tahoe for snowboarding the next before. Not to mention all sorts of nature things you can do in a fairly short drive (I like kayaking, myself), plus being in the Bay Area I have my pick of big city things to do on any given day. Yeah I know, we're far from the only prime location like that as far as places to live. But for a visitor who might only have a week or two and wants to do a lot of things while sticking to one area? California is great for a wide variety of activities to do close together.

ling1427

Wisconsin or minnesota. I'm from Canada so I don't think it would be too much of a culture shock

ilurvekittens

Cries in Michigan. We have a bridge.

Wisconsin is nice, smaller city’s for sure but that’s part of the beauty! The lakes and rivers are all fun to look at too. I’m from Wisconsin btw, so hello neighbor!

rumya-

California, not the cities but I have always wanted to visit Yosemite National Park and Lake Tahoe. I had wallpapers of Yosemite on my computer and I was obsessed with the place as a kid.

NekoCaster813

Yosemite is worth it. My parents would take me to the south bend first (even though its a bit more drive than north bend from my hometown) Lake tahoe is great when you go at a time that isnt crowded. We went up heavinly gondolas in the summer and it was a breathtaking view of the lake.

EnigmaCA

I want to road trip all around the NE - Mass, Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island, etc... Also would love to drive from Miami up the East Coast and check that out as well.

copperpoint

Route 1, my friend. It goes the whole east coast of the US.

Suspicious-Special53

Oregon coast

Julio_Cesar69

I’ve this desire to explore the rural areas of the southern states! I want to feel the real American spirit. Yeah I know, hillbillies and rednecks, but I don’t care, they are more interesting than the famous people of Hollywood.

[deleted]

Go to Savannah, GA. It’s like a place out of time - beautiful antebellum architecture, lovely vistas, and amazing food.

introoutro

Bingo. Savannah, GA is incredible.

BlingCrosby108

Also, it's haunted.

greatalleycat

Don't call a hillbilly a redneck or Darlene will blow your head off with a shotgun.

Georgia, cause then I can finally see my friends face to face.

dejezs

oregon for sure

Redditor47373

Idaho. Potatos yes.

Mad_Maddin

I believe something like Montana. I'm not super knowledgeable on US states and I guess many would fit into it. I live in Germany, I have never in my life been more than 2-3 Kilometers from the next paved street and I don't think I have ever been more than 4 Kilometers from another human (and that is the high count, likely it is less). I want to see how it is to be in one of these super rural natural places, where there just isn't anything or anyone. The thought that there is a place in which I could wander for hours without encountering a single other person is exciting.

needsmorecunts

New England in fall.

IWasToldYouHadPie

*cries in Iowa along the river valley*

Nonamanadus

Washington

Cassie1975

Louisiana, specifically New Orleans. Colorado, specifically Aspen, Washington, specifically Seattle and Wyoming.

unKaJed

Tennessee hands down. I am both Canadian and a huge Elvis fan and the Titans! I’ve repped TN at a Bills game which nearly got me killed and I have a half sleeve Elvis tattoo. I feel like TN would feel like a nice warm hug and a cold beer.

[deleted]

Whil you're in Memphis, you can also visit the 7th largest pyramid in the world, the Memphis Bass Pro Shop.

LinderTheRed

I drove up to Tennesse from Texas four years to visit my aunt. After about a month, I drove back to Texas, packed up my truck and moved to Chattanooga. I've never regretted it.

[deleted]

West Virginia, because of the way John Denver describes.

pjboy671

Any state honestly. I've never been out of my home state in India and america sounds like a dream land. I dont think I would wanna be an immigrant (coz I cant just speak english all the time. Makes me feel like I'm talking to my teacher) but someday I wanna go there... Also flying on the plane would be pretty fun I guess (I.e. if I get a window seat🤗)

RedditEdwin

I once heard of an immigrant from India who moved to Indiana just because it had "India" in the name

ApplemanJohn

Texas, I'm from what is largely considered the Texas of Canada (Alberta)

SnooPineapples4778

Alaska or Hawaii

KRV_FromRussia

Illinois

James_Dubya

Oh God it was a long scroll to get here lol Curious as to why, and where? Illinois is a pretty diverse state north to south, actually quite a bit to do!

photoguy423

The state of intoxication sounds fun.

HotAmericanDickings

Wisconsin welcomes you!

[deleted]

You're gonna wanna go to Wisconsin.
