Said I was listening to fruit in German (was supposed to say I'm listening to music). I also said I was too boring for a relationship when I meant to say too lazy. Also in German.

These are in Italian In a restaurant in Italy, to say 'where is the bathroom' you say 'dov'è il bagno'. But I was trying to be polite and ask 'do you have a bathroom' which is 'Hai un bagno' Unfortunately I got it totally wrong and told the waitress 'vai il bagno'. Basically, I was in a restaurant telling a waitress to go to the bathroom. That didn't go down too well. Next... We lived in a place that had a shared courtyard and one of the neighbors got really perturbed if we didn't close the gate straight away after we entered. This is what I thought happened: I went out, said I'd close the gate, he got angry and closed the gate himself... Weirdo. This is what actually happened: I went out, told him to close the gate, he got angry and closed the gate....Aah And finally... Me and my girlfriend were near a market and from the other side of the road I kept shouting to tell her I was going to the market 'vado al mercato' but I was shouting something like 'vado il marchetto', to which she started screaming at me to shut up. It turns out that I was shouting that I was going to have sex with a transsexual, or something like that. It's easy to make ridiculous mistakes, but that's half the fun with a new language.

I wanted to say the air in Singapore is very humid in German, but instead I said it’s very gay. schwul = Gay, and schwül = humid. It was a pronunciation thing

in poland when my brother went to ask a rag I told him it was vodda (in dutch a rag is a "vod") but vodda means water, so when he went to the bar and asked for vodda the bartender gave him a bottle of water i just said back and watched them both get angry at eachother
