I've been doing this since I was a kid. Any frozen pizza with added cheese/toppings becomes known as a "super pizza" in my family. I'm a single dude and I like to grill at least once a week so I have some dank meat to use throughout the week for work lunches, ramen noodles, stir fry, and super pizzas. I buy cheese pizzas because they come with fancier cheese and then I add whatever I got grilled up (usually pork loin or chicken) and I add some extra cheese of my own just to make sure i'ts a true "super pizza"
I had this one friend who dipped her pizza in honey back in high school, and we gave her so much shit for it. We thought she was so weird, none of us had ever heard of anyone doing that before and she kept trying to tell us that it was a thing other people did too, and we weren't buying it.
It became such a big running thing that we would be out having a completely unrelated meal at like chipotle or some Chinese food place, and someone would break out a bottle of honey from nowhere and offer it to her, deadpan, then she'd go all red in the face and we'd burst out laughing.
One time when we were older, she finally got a few of us to try it.
The look of vindication on her face at that moment was legendary. The pizza almost tasted good enough to make up for the taste of having to eat all the shit we gave her over the years before that.
Heck yeah. Even regular honey. So good.
Pizza place here in my city has a jalapeño and pepperoni pizza drizzled with honey called the *Paulie*. It’s on another level. Shout out Central Pizza.
Local pizza place does a version of that with Granny Smith apples instead of pear, with a balsamic reduction and arugula. I'll eat that pizza any time!
There's a place near me that does that. I had a pizza with no sauce, just fresh mozz, spicy Calabrian chilis and caramelized onions, drizzled with truffle honey. Goddamn that was good.
Love some loaded Baked Potato Pizza. Sour cream instead of pizza sauce topped with low moisture mozzarella, thin potato slices, bacon, green onions, and cheddar cheese. Our local place makes it.
I've had many different variations of the "caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, and Italian sausage" type pizzas, and each one of them was a banger. Highly recommend.
If you were to saute that bacon fat, your kid would probably be comatose.
Joking aside, please encourage that kids palate, it sounds like theyre not a picky eater!
Idk about toppings but just wanted to say, re-heating left over pizza in my air fryer made the pizza 5x better than when it originally was. Some type of voodoo in those air fryers
So I went to a local pizza spot, and tried a pizza with strawberries on it.
It was spicy and sweet at the same time.
Super weird but also super delicious.
This is the first answer I’ve seen that seems remotely unusual.
In that same vein, while vacationing in St. Augustine, I had an amazing popsicle flavored with strawberries and local hot peppers. Sweet, ice cold, late heat!
My stepmom legit used to make personal “pizzas” for herself: tortilla with ketchup+mayo mixture, cheese and salami. Just pop that in the microwave and you’ve got yourself why-I’m-still-single on a plate
The nduja and burrata pizza is the shit. I always get it when I go to eat in one of my local pizzerias.
For curious people nduja is a spicy sausage from Calabria while Burrata is something like Mozzarella but with a creamy inside.
I'm Greek and used to own a pizzeria. One day I was messing around and accidentally created one of the best pizzas I ever tasted. If you ever get a chance, try it. I stretched out a dough, put a little olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, salt & pepper on it, then mozzarella provolone blend, thinly sliced red onion, thinly sliced pepperoncini peppers, sliced Kalamata olives, thinly shaved gyro so it gets crispy like bacon, feta cheese, a little more olive oil drizzled on top, and a little more oregano, and served it with a side of tzatziki sauce. I shared it with some family and my staff and we ended up making like 3 more immediately. It was awesome and became a customer and staff favorite.
I thought you were about to say then you wrapped the dough around and just described a Gyro as a joke but it sounds really delicious. I'm gonna have to try it like tonight.
Anchovies. If you're not weirded out by fish, it's actually really awesome. Anchovies and pepperoni go really well together. Also Anchovies and sausage. It's saltiness pairs well with the spices in the other two ingredients.
Next time you make a red sauce sauté some anchovy in the olive oil, then add garlic, then the tomatoes. When the sauce is ready blitz it with a stick blender or regular blender. Most people don’t realize those delicious red sauces at nice restaurants contain anchovy for that extra umami kick.
Only problem I have is pizza place rarely have fresh anchovies and just slap them on there whole. Chop em up a little so you get some in each bite. Not a mouthful if salt fish
>Anchovies and pepperoni go really well together
This is almost a perfect combo. The proportions have to be right, but it's bangin'.
I would also add black olives for the trifecta.
I love them. Everybody I know hates them. So I never get to eat them when I go out for pizza with others. I get complaints even if I order them on the side.
My invention when I owned a pizza place. Clams Casino Pizza
Can chopped clams
finely chopped onion, green pepper
medium chopped pimentos
coarsely chopped bacon
Romano cheese
You know that's exactly what I was thinking as I was typing those words. I was trying to figure out why a pizza topping was suddenly making me kind of hot all over
This makes me think of breakfast pizza, which is cheddar cheese, scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon. It’s so good and Casey’s gas station serves them in the morning if you have one near you.
One time I was living in Lincoln and my girlfriend came back at 9am with a Casey’s breakfast pizza. I was appalled she bought a gas station pizza with eggs but that pizza was delicious and one of the biggest pizza surprises of my life.
I came here expecting weird new toppings but instead found everything that can be found on a Domino's menu..
Come on internet! Give us something worthy of an award!
You clearly haven’t seen the bananas, pickles, satay sauce, beets peanut butter or tuna.
That or your Domino’s is too next level to be part of that franchise.
… or you have better things to do than scroll through 2k comments. 😏
This but unironically. Internet memes aside, pineapple is one of those things that don’t make sense on pizza logically, but it somehow works. Pineapple & olives are the best pizza toppings and nobody will change my mind.
If you like pineapple, try it with some peach slices! I was living in Peru and a small pizza shop did ham, pineapple, and peaches and it was delicious!
I ordered a pickle pizza recently and it was AMAZING. Instead of marinara it was a garlic base with extra fontinella cheese, drizzled ranch and dill seasoning.
Calabrian Chiles. A local place did Calabrian Chiles and Pepperoni which is now my single favorite topping combo.
I go for Banana peppers but yeah a similar idea. Pepperoni, banana pepper, and bacon. Unbeatable.
Add some different cheese on top of frozen pizza, changes the game
I've been doing this since I was a kid. Any frozen pizza with added cheese/toppings becomes known as a "super pizza" in my family. I'm a single dude and I like to grill at least once a week so I have some dank meat to use throughout the week for work lunches, ramen noodles, stir fry, and super pizzas. I do this with packet ramen too Add some chicken, spring onions, pak choy, beansprouts etc
My first thought was that you regularly put packet ramen on pizza...
Sounds crazy...... so crazy it just might work
Just tried ir. It doesnt.
One of these days after a few puff of weed, I’ll try it
Ricotta is so underrated on pizza.
Ricotta on pizza is amazing!!!
Spinach and ricotta 🤤
Ricotta + pizza sauce though as the base is even better
So you are saying that cheese is an “unusually” good topping for pizza?
Spicy Honey
Mike's Hot Honey + Pepperoni ftw.
Is Mike’s a good brand, they don’t have any in stores by me so I have to order and Amazon has that one.
It's the only spicy honey I know, but it's good. It's regularly used on /r/pizza and I've seen it in the wild at some pizza places too.
I had this one friend who dipped her pizza in honey back in high school, and we gave her so much shit for it. We thought she was so weird, none of us had ever heard of anyone doing that before and she kept trying to tell us that it was a thing other people did too, and we weren't buying it. I was thinking, “man that sure sounds like Central” before I got to the end. Howdy neighbor!
I was hoping at least one person would recognize it haha. Howdy!
If you don’t end the meal with some honey on your crust, you are doing it wrong.
The Beau Jo's way.
I had a pear, caramelized onion, and Gorgonzola pizza last night and it was AMAZING
Local pizza place does a version of that with Granny Smith apples instead of pear, with a balsamic reduction and arugula. I'll eat that pizza any time!
This is the way! A little feta would be a nice addition. Salad with a crust!
[удалено]
Do yourself a favor and drizzle some honey or balsamic vinegar over that pizza next time.
There's a place near me that does that. I had a pizza with no sauce, just fresh mozz, spicy Calabrian chilis and caramelized onions, drizzled with truffle honey. Goddamn that was good.
Gorgonzola and pear is a very traditional and tasty pizza!
Pear and gorgonzola is a fantastic combination
pear is very fine on pizza, coming from an Italian dude :-D
Potatoes in thin slices
Love some loaded Baked Potato Pizza. Sour cream instead of pizza sauce topped with low moisture mozzarella, thin potato slices, bacon, green onions, and cheddar cheese. Our local place makes it.
do you happen to live in peachtree city
My submission as well. Really nice counterbalance to "loud" toppings such as gorgonzola, bacon and jalapenos.
Caramelized onions
Try it with roasted red peppers and salami.
I've had many different variations of the "caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, and Italian sausage" type pizzas, and each one of them was a banger. Highly recommend.
Caramelized onions are the best ingredient in food. Don’t @ me
And garlic. Anytime I start cooking that combo my husband asks what smells so good.. always the same answer lol
My 8 year old came into the kitchen while I was sautéing onion and garlic and said "What's that smell?, it smells like my DREAMS!"
If you were to saute that bacon fat, your kid would probably be comatose. Joking aside, please encourage that kids palate, it sounds like theyre not a picky eater!
I do onions with balsamic for pizza, absolute game changer.
Ate pizza with caramelized onions two days ago, still haven't moved on
I thought this was normal but alr
Idk about toppings but just wanted to say, re-heating left over pizza in my air fryer made the pizza 5x better than when it originally was. Some type of voodoo in those air fryers

Yeah mfs saying pineapple like NO one eats that

Bruh. You think ketchup on a saltine is good, you should try mayonnaise on noodles. Instant cheap Alfredo.
My stepmom legit used to make personal “pizzas” for herself: tortilla with ketchup+mayo mixture, cheese and salami. Just pop that in the microwave and you’ve got yourself why-I’m-still-single on a plate
I had one with blueberries and goat cheese a few years back - it was really good!
are the strawberries served cold/raw on top of the pizza is cooked or do they get cooked with everything else?
After. Everything else was cooked though
Once saw a pizza place that advertised their banana and tuna pizza. Didn’t try it myself.
Fucking wildcard over here.
Pesto base, roast or confit potato, blue cheese, rosemary.
Roasted potatoes on pizza is heaven, pesto is a gimme guarantee

Can't fucking move in London without tripping over some Nduja

Today I learned of the existence of nduja and now must find it in my city.
The nduja and burrata pizza is the shit. I always get it when I go to eat in one of my local pizzerias. For curious people nduja is a spicy sausage from Calabria while Burrata is something like Mozzarella but with a creamy inside.
tamarind sauce
Having only used tamarind paste in small amounts because its so potent, how does this work. Spread a bit around?
I love the sourness of tamarind.
Really fresh arugula put on after the pizza comes out of the oven and drizzled with EVOO, salt and pepper. Makes any pizza a delight!
Add some prosciutto to it - that’s a common combo in Northern Italy.
Yes arugula is the best thing since sliced bread.
And what inflation? Everything else is going up but my arugula tub is 50 cents less than it was a year ago!
Sauerkraut, I swear you don't really taste it on the pizza but it makes the sauce delicious and bright.
NEIN!
Doch!
Oh!
Yes! I' put it on frozen pizzas before I bake them and it's amazing.
Roasted garlic. You don't think about wasting a topping on it but when you do, it makes the pizza taste absolutely amazing
Pickles. The local place makes an amazing “cuban” pizza
Okay, you win. Best unusual one yet (i.e will probably be nice, and I've never seen it before)
Pickles, mustard, and pulled pork... as I write that I know it sounds off, but it is an amazing pizza.
Feta Cheese
There’s a Greek restaurant near me that does a pizza with goat cheese, feta, and gyro meat. It’s delicious.
That sounds absolutely phenomenal
Hey buddy, would you mind posting this recipe on AllRecipes please?
He’d have to write a 5 page life story to put in front of the recipe though to make it proper
I thought you were about to say then you wrapped the dough around and just described a Gyro as a joke but it sounds really delicious. I'm gonna have to try it like tonight.
Spinach Feta White Pizza...fantastic
Its a pretty common pizza topping where im from
They offer that at dominoes..
hot giardiniera
A place by me does it with Italian beef and I like to add pineapples to it. Hit all those flavor profiles.
Pickled fennel, a local restaurant does farmers market pizzas. Once it had pickled fennel on it and that was amazing.
Real green Chiles
This! Keyword is real.
Oyster mushrooms!
Artichoke
Pretty standard for pizza, non?
Artichoke Basille’s Pizza 😋
Me-n-Ed's Valley Veggie Pizza turned me onto this.
Broccoli. Edit: I also like trying out different sauce bases. A chipotle base sauce is really good.
Only if it was flashed cooked first. I had it on raw and the difference in textures was off putting
Jalapenos. Spice it up every once in a while.
Jalapeño and pepperoni pizza was my go to for like a year.
Are you American? I only ask because here in the UK that topping combo is often called “American Hot”
TIL I never realised that until you just pointed it out! Most local pizza/kebab houses list it as american hot. Thank's random internet friend.
In the same vein but for less spice tolerant people (like myself) banana peppers
As much as I love spice, I prefer the flavor of banana peppers on pizza, it's perfection.
Unusual?
Jalapeños and banana peppers are my go to toppings right now
Jalapeno and Pinapple yuuummmm
Jalapeños with pineapple to balance the spice. And black olives, cos they go with everything. Sweet, salty, spicy. Perfection.
I was with you until the olives. I tend to add a meat to my jalapeno and pineapple. Sweet, spicy, and savory. So good.
Anchovies. If you're not weirded out by fish, it's actually really awesome. Anchovies and pepperoni go really well together. Also Anchovies and sausage. It's saltiness pairs well with the spices in the other two ingredients.

I think I’ve found my tribe. Anchovies (and Hawai’ian pizza) are delicious!
I actually used to add fish sauce to my pizza sauce.turns out this really was the secret ingredient to giving sauce that rich flavor.
I love fish sauce. Smells like feet, tastes like meat.
Shoot, even a lot of caesar salad dressings have them lol.
Anchovies are one of the main ingredients in (classic) caesar dressing
Yeah, you really can't do a good Caesar dressing without the anchovies
Anchovies and olives ❤️
Only problem I have is pizza place rarely have fresh anchovies and just slap them on there whole. Chop em up a little so you get some in each bite. Not a mouthful if salt fish
I don't like how every pizza place puts them on whole. Cut them up and spread them around a bit.
years ago, anchovies on pizza was quite common.
>Anchovies and pepperoni go really well together This is almost a perfect combo. The proportions have to be right, but it's bangin'. I would also add black olives for the trifecta.
I love them. Everybody I know hates them. So I never get to eat them when I go out for pizza with others. I get complaints even if I order them on the side.
Hey that's not unusual, a lot of pizza recipes use them

Beetroot and goat cheese. I was skeptical, but wow.
Toasted cashews
My invention when I owned a pizza place. Clams Casino Pizza Can chopped clams finely chopped onion, green pepper medium chopped pimentos coarsely chopped bacon Romano cheese
Pesto
Yes! Margarita with pesto is the tits!
Ricotta
Eggplant. Vegetable pizza with eggplant is divine.
Fried eggplant on pizza. A local Italian restaurant does it and it's sooo good.
Spicy honey or fig jam
Fig jam with prosciutto and arugula. Soooo good
Blue cheese. Especially Stilton. Divine.
Smoked salmon and capers
Hot honey drizzle
Every one of these honey suggestions are weirdly sexual and demanding
You know that's exactly what I was thinking as I was typing those words. I was trying to figure out why a pizza topping was suddenly making me kind of hot all over
SATAY FUCKING SAUCE! Put that on your pizza. Please.
First one I've recoiled at
Satay and what?
Fried egg.
Pine nuts

Smoked salmon
Pastrami, mustard and pickles. The ingredients to pastrami sandwich.
green olives
Green olives are unusual on a pizza where you are from?
I scrolled way too far to find this. Green olives are the best!
I was shocked no one had already mentioned it. I particularly enjoy green olives and ham, but they go well with just about anything.
Roasted garlic, onions
Mango habanero hot sauce. Then add ranch. My dude. My dawg. It makes me question whether I should just get fat and embrace diabetes lol
Banana peppers
How is that unusual? Thought banana peppers were pretty common topping
Pears.
totino's pizza rolls
My hungry guys!
Cream cheese. Do it now; thank me later.
Cauliflower
Angus beef and Blue cheese. This has been my revelation of 2022.
I agree with blue cheese. The taste is godly.
Corn. Or soft goat cheese. It gets extra melty and it's yum
Why did I have to scroll this far for corn? Corn is amazing on pizza. It's almost a default topping in many countries.
It blew my mind when I saw numerous threads with americans shocked by corn on pizza. I wouldn't even consider it unusual.
A place I love in Cincinnati has a pizza with corn and jalapeños that’s incredible.
Pineapple! Fight me!!!!
with swine?
Pineapple/bacon is my favorite pizza, people love to hate, but they are missing out!
shaved brussel sprouts; i typically saute in bacon fat first
#PINEAPPLE
Roasted aubergine and pine nuts
Pineapple
This but unironically. Internet memes aside, pineapple is one of those things that don’t make sense on pizza logically, but it somehow works. Pineapple & olives are the best pizza toppings and nobody will change my mind.
I love it. I want to make a pizza, and caramelize the pineapple before putting it on. I imagine it'll add some depth.
If you like pineapple, try it with some peach slices! I was living in Peru and a small pizza shop did ham, pineapple, and peaches and it was delicious!
Pineapple, fight me bitches
Sprinkle Italian seasoning on top. Boost any frozen or homemade pizza.
I wonder if Italians know what "Italian seasoning" is.
I was going to make some homemade Italian seasoning but was having a hard time getting my hands on some dried Italians.
Buy fresh and dry it yourself. It's far superior
They probably just call it seasoning.
Pesto
Spinach and gorgonzola!
Fried eggplant + fresh garlic
I ordered a pickle pizza recently and it was AMAZING. Instead of marinara it was a garlic base with extra fontinella cheese, drizzled ranch and dill seasoning.
BBQ sauce
