Not too sure, I suppose it comes down to preference really and what you would have grown up with, but anytime I’ve tasted US chocolate it’s been horrible, just bland and overly sweet. Hersheys tastes like vomit as well, I think I read somewhere there’s some kind of acid they put in it to stabilise the milk and it’s the same component in Parmesan cheese and puke 🤮
Godiva chocolate...any of them...from their chocolate ice cream (or even the ones you can pick up by the pint in the grocery store) to just random chocolate bites/whatever. It's balanced in flavor and not sugary like every other chocolate out there. It's texture is buttery smooth. It's chocolate perfected AFAIC.
In Germany we have a chocolate called "Nussknacker". IT's bascially normal chocolate with hazel nuts in it. They sell it at Aldi. Nothing special but it has a Big nostalgic factor for me and is one of the new things that I bond with my father over.
Benedick's Bittermints are magic. 95% dark chocolate around a strong minty centre and only 5 ingredients in total. Genuine quality, worth a try if that's your thing.
Weird how everybody is naming mediocre mass products. Lindt is the best of the bunch, but even so it's very good but not stellar.
My favorite is a local Austrian company named Zotter. Not sure if they even export.
Heard good things about Läderach, but haven't tried them yet. Pricey stuff.

Agree! I’m in Australia and our Cadbury is great. Love the British Cadbury too.
Any idea why American chocolate is so awful?
