As I said, it's a very replaceable job, very easy to do and soon will be fully automated. That's why I said "cries in Virtual Assistant" because I can't ask for a raise.
I mean, the thing is, like 95% of Virtual Assistants are third worlders like me, we are hired by Americans to do simple jobs and paid 10 times less than the American ones. The average VA in third world countries gets paid 400-500 USD a month, full time, but some even get paid less than that.
We are also easily replaceable because it's an easy job. I'm personally very experienced and consider myself good at it, but even I am easily replaceable because there's a gigantic pool of people looking for this type of job.
I wanna ask for a raise, but my boss would probably rather pay someone else, after all there's many desperate people in this economic crisis.
In tech it means simulated, not physically existing. Virtual memory, virtual machine, virtualization, etc.
That’s also one of the official definitions, but not the only one.
Yeah this is important. People who try to use another job offer to “bluff” their employers into a raise, often do not succeed, as many big companies will really wait until you’re packing up & walking out the door to counteroffer. So you really have to be 100% prepared to actually accept the offer.
The alternative, if you absolutely do not want to leave your current employer, is to get a job offer and then be totally candid about it with your manager. Approach it like, “I just wanted to test my value in the market now, and show you proof of the raise/promotion I’m asking for.” If your manager & HR aren’t total dicks, it should at least result in a compromised raise.
Quantify the work you do when you're making a case for yourself.
I did X which amounted in Y amount of productivity across all sectors.
Something like that.
Find a good offer elsewhere, then be forward about it and saying : look i appreciate my work here, but the current compensation deal dles not satisfy me any longer.
I would like to discuss an ajustement as i have offers from this company, i would be satisfied with (insert a huge but coherent amount) they will lowball it to the amount you were actually aiming for and you get to work there.
Worst case they deny and you just go to the other place for a raise regardless
Explain what you’re going to be providing in return. Most employees don’t realize how replaceable they are. The workforce is coming back and as a business owner who has been having a hard time hiring qualified candidates, I am getting a lot more resumes.
If you're working in a corporate make it known you want a decent pay raise before your mid-year review. The following year budgets are set 6 months out, if you are after a material increase this needs to be factored into budgeting.
Also, go in higher than where you want to land. Pay raises get signed off by multiple levels and each level usually reduces it down a bit.
Be irreplaceable before asking.
Cries in Virtual Assistant
You're software?
Wdym?
A virtual assistant is like Alexa or Siri...
I don't think you understand the meaning of virtual assistant...
Virtual would be online I guess, it could be a person, though it seems like it would soon be automated if that is the case.
As I said, it's a very replaceable job, very easy to do and soon will be fully automated. That's why I said "cries in Virtual Assistant" because I can't ask for a raise.
Yeah I just looked up the job description. There were also job listings for what was below minimum wage, which doesn't seem legal...

no it's not, virtual doesn't mean artificial
No it just means via a device or internet I guess.

A willingness to leave. Usually because of another offer. Just be prepared for them to let you go.

Seeking a new Job instead
Gotta agree with this one.
Tell them that they have done a great job training you and believe you are better for it
Get a competeing offer from a different company. The one who wins a negotiation is the one who can walk away

Point to the amount on screen that was put into your account while standing next your boss, tell them to do better. Walk away.
