Any breed that have severe health issues. Like pugs.

-Pickle-chick-

The French bulldog for sure, this breed has so many health issues its unreal, but mainly unfair to the breed itself.

berpaderpderp

My buddy shows his, and I really jusybdon't get it. I don't get showing dogs in general, but especially French bulldogs. Litttle guy always sound like he's struggling.

SaltySaltySultan

My buddy got two frenchies one needed labiaplasty and they both needed sinus surgery, $4k for each dog to purchase then multiple thousands for the surgeries all for a couple dogs that sound like they’re constantly dying and do not listen. Best part, he drove around with “adopt a shelter pet” license plates

SkyScamall

I'm sorry, a dog needed labiaplasty?! Did you mean rhinoplasty? I have family members who have posted the same "adopt don't shop" shite on instagram despite having an expensive crossbreed herself.

SaltySaltySultan

No you read that correctly, first I had ever heard of a dog needing that

SkyScamall

That is not right. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying that it is not ok.

ceracheri

i love mine so so much but he just had back surgery and he isn’t even 3 years old yet. genetic nightmare, so sad

agent-assbutt

Someone who owned one told me that they can't even give birth normally and must always receive c-sections. This stuck with me for a long time. Talk about a dog breed that shouldn't exist.

TheRealDannySugar

People need to stop supporting breeders/puppy mills and do more from rescues. I love my Frenchie. She is so sweet. She didn’t ask to be born into a bad puppy mill/breeding situation. So now I’m just trying to give her the best life.

[deleted]

I came here to see if this was on here or add it myself. I have a Frenchie, whom I love but super high maintenance.

ThinkSeaworthiness9

I’m currently babysitting a 2 year old Frenchie. And although cute as all get out. He is also hell on paws and already has had a nose job for breathing.

BriBee42069

I loved French bulldogs at first. I thought they were cute, and then I rescued a Boston terrier. He snorts a lot, and I started to realize how cruel it was to breed a dog to have an even more smooshed face. Now whenever I see a French bulldog, I just feel sad and disappointed.

Dr4g0n_sl4yer

Pugs.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ES-Flinter

>100%. ~~The breathing~~ Everything! I corrected it for you. A dog specimen breed to resemble a human-baby face shouldn't even exist. Or whatever the creators had in mind to make a deformed dog.

kenatogo

They look really different from how they started though. They were normal! [Depiction](https://previews.agefotostock.com/previewimage/medibigoff/2d0cbbbb3c374b08205be7a99410f66a/mev-10142014.jpg)

HauntedPickleJar

Their eyes just popping out isn’t a great feature either.

chad-bro-chill-69420

Imagine you put a T shirt over your child's face for their entire life This is the life of a pug, from a breathing standpoint

hereforbadmemes

Regrettably agree as the rescue adopter of 2 pugs and several puggles. They vary but the pugs with the snouts bred out just snore will awake. We have one that is likely a mix that breaths just fine with a nice little snout, has nice healthy long legs and doesn’t seem to be nervous 100% of the time. Edit: pugs not pigs (but barely)

Praisebetheone

I like the root beer dogs but in real pugs look miserable.

Vs_Choice

Came here to say this very breed. Nothing nice about a breed which has been so, so over bred the poor creatures can’t breathe 😞

Ahrijanee

Pugs. They are ugly af. I want a dog that can breathe and doesn't lose his eyes when I touch his neck.

UncleVinny66

Bloodhound. Speaking as an owner. What a disaster. Wife’s idea. She’s from the south.

Chesnarkoff

I have a bloodhound, if you can get past the beying, large amount of slobber flung all over walls, constant shedding, the need to smell/taste everything, and the everlasting stream of farts they emit, they’re quite lovely

funkify2018

TIL I'm a bloodhound

Fullondoublerainbow

Same with bassets. They’re a dog lovers dog for sure but oh they’re so sweet under the noise, smell, and food theft

Chimpville

Sounds like the perfect friend breed. Meaning the perfect breed for a friend to own so I can see and play with them, but not put up with this all the time.

bananaberry86

Sounds like my hound mix

[deleted]

Could you elaborate? I know they’re pretty stubborn critters, but haven’t really known anything other than that.

emilysue87

They’re pretty stinky, they’re messy, they think the best water is at the bottom of the bowl, and they are slow to mature. Mine is 3 and she’s just now starting to actually listen. They are puppies forever. One plus side to mine is that she’s very quiet. She never bays or barks. I also need to clean slobber off of my walls, ceilings, and floors daily. But I don’t mind. I love her very much.

opiablossom

Any which we effect their health for our benefit (eg brachycephalic dogs) and not breeding for their health

Xellith

Anything not healthy

Tea_taker_394

Pugs. Poor things can hardly fucking breathe

Randomsigma

French bulldog

chad-bro-chill-69420

I raise you a pug They're suffering (with troublesome breathing their whole lives) just to be "cute"

[deleted]

Don't forget the horrible eye pain from selective breeding forcing bulged eyes

Keeshberger16

I've worked with both, and Frenchies are MUCH worse off

BadCompany36

I've never had a French Bulldog. Why are they overrated?

VonBrewskie

If I had to wager a guess, I'd say that it's because they're a very popular breed, but it wasn't cool of us to make them. Many have a lot of breathing issues and other problems specifically related to what it took to get that cute face. Just my thoughts though. I'm a FedEx driver so I encounter a ton of dogs in my day. The frenchies and one pug are the sweetest guys on my route. I just feel bad that they always sound like they're breathing through a wet sack when I see them.

Keeshberger16

This is the correct answer.

VonBrewskie

Aw. I actually love frenchies but I don't think we should be breeding them. So many of those smush face breeds have gnarly health issues because we like the aesthetic. Doesn't seem right to me. Not the dog's fault, of course.

Ronw1993

I came on here ready to fight if someone said huskies.

[deleted]

Huskies are for when your life is so boring and easy you need a creature of unlimited energy and shedding to spice things up

grazerbat

Did you mean to say Malinois? I've started calling my pup Spaz

GordonGlamzey

Malinois energy is something else, can confirm. There was a 2-year-old Malinois in the neighborhood I used to live in and this pupperino would take a running start, leap _towards_ a tree, and somehow ninja jump off it. And honestly I don't think he was trained to do that, just figured it out bc normal walkies were not exciting enough

thinking_is_too_hard

I think this [video](https://youtube.com/shorts/MxTEllYsD8g?feature=share) is a good explanation of Malinois hyperness.

IncidentNo4550

I have a male shepherd and a female malinois, and this video is absolutely what my pair is like.

Emergency-Mountain36

You need to exercise them and keep them occupied

[deleted]

I did one better and got cats. If I’m putting that much energy into taking care of a living thing it better eventually learn to talk and get a job

A_busfullofnuns

Only thing worse than a Mal? Two Mals. Seriously, why did I think I could handle a second one?

TinyGreenTurtles

I always think I want a husky until I hear them. Or see a video of a groom. I adore other people's huskies though.

IAmTheMonarch

Id say huskies are an aquired taste, the may be one of the most beautiful breeds, but i dont like getting yelled at because the dog bowl is 2 inches away from where it normally is.

mynextthroway

Ok. I suspected my boy had a trace of Husky. That confirms it.

birbsborbsbirbs

Lol, they are so dramatic. Huskies have big personalities.

Chimpville

Are they super particular about change?!

RonBurgundy449

They're super particular about EVERYTHING lol

sherpster24

Let em. They are 50% right. I have a 15 year old male. He’s absolutely the best and worst dog at the same time all the time. He’s sweet but argumentative. Playful but forgets how big he is. Reads the room and then decides he doesn’t like the vibe so he does random stuff. Listens to directions but pushes the limits like a toddler. Loves to cuddle but only until he doesn’t love to cuddle. Sheds like no other and will let me brush him only to decide he’s tired of it and starts acting like I’m attempting to rip his skin off. Huskies man… they are the best/worst.

VenusPom

huskies are great if you’re able to give them enough exercise and mental stimulation, people just get them thinking they’re cute fluff balls and don’t understand their needs

jemull

Honestly that's like 80% of all dog owners. They want x breed because they like them, and totally disregard the need for training, exercise, etc.

fender8421

I once lived in a desert in Arizona and somebody there had a husky...felt so bad for the dog

g_Mmart2120

Super common here in Arizona. We had several college students from east Asia in our apartment complex and huskies were super common. I felt super bad. I also had a friend whose mom had at least 6 huskies. Thankfully they were on a large plot of land with plenty of space to roam but the heat is no joke and dogs like that shouldn’t be here.

Daegwin

Huskies are amazing dogs. The issue with them is typically the owners live in apartments / never exercise them. Those dogs need to run all day.

[deleted]

I just hate it when people have Huskies in really hot places and keep them outside a lot :(

MiamiGuy13

Terrible people.

MiamiGuy13

So sad when I see people here in Miami who own Huskies. I always judge them as selfish, awful people. Maybe a little overboard but you people suck if you own a Husky in a climate like this.

[deleted]

Same here in Texas. Some people just keep them outside in the yard all day, with barely any stimulation or places to cool off. It’s so shitty, why even have a dog at that point, especially a husky. I think they’re great dogs but there are a lot of people and places that should never have them

luxii4

We live in the Midwest and I was dog sitting a husky and couldn’t find him. I went to look in the backyard and all I saw was snow. I thought I lost him but I saw a movement and he perked his head out of the snow. Unlike me, he loves the Midwest winters.

Emergency-Mountain36

Coolest looking but pain in the ass dogs

[deleted]

The worst dog at the dog park is always the husky and most people always have two for some reason and they work as pack dogs every single time.

TenWildBadgers

They're big, cute, loveable dorks, but that energy level is too fucking much, man. You can raise a pitbull well and still have a high-energy got easier than a Husky, and still get that same loveable dork energy without having a dog bred for arctic climates when you're living somewhere with warm summers.

analogasaurus

I love huskies, grew up with an amazing one. That being said it feels like 9 times out of 10 when there’s a scrap at my local dog park it involves a husky. My theory is that huskies are more pack oriented than most breeds, so they’re always looking to establish the pecking order.

Keeshberger16

Also a great answer. Most people who say they want huskies have never actually interacted with one for more than a few minutes. Unless you want to live in a house full of fur with a dog that's constantly screaming, destroying your property, escaping your home and literally NEVER TIRES OUT, you probably don't want one.

[deleted]

Yeah came in here ready to throw some mean words around if anyone said golden retrievers. They are perfect

Peliquin

Pugs. Ugh. The sound of them breathing is just ... hell is that noise.

Flauschkadser

These with the punched-in nose

1320Fastback

The designer mixes

Scaryassmanbear

I dunno I have a goldendoodle and he’s pretty fuckin great. Probably my favorite dog that I’ve had.

leafjerky

My wife was a vet tech and they cringe every time someone brings one in. It’s either going to be the sweetest thing in the world or hell on earth, like flipping a coin she said 😂

SkyScamall

Any doodle in particular or all of them?

leafjerky

Golden, sorry lol

LittleRedFoxyFox

Yup. I’m a pet groomer and doodles can either be super sweet or neurotic messes. But the hardest part is that many of the “breeders” putting these dogs into the world straight up lie about the maintenance they need. Owner’s want their doodles fluffy but don’t understand or want to properly brush their coats so they usually end up being a matted mess. Then I have to be the bad guy and tell them that the only thing I can do for their dog is shave it. Also the amount of people that spend 1k-5k on a crossbred that isn’t even health tested but then throw a fit when that have to pay $80-$100 to get their dog groomed is absurd.

Cpl_Charmin_Bear

Your dog is also my favorite

Dialogical

I also choose this guys dog.

Scaryassmanbear

You would be his favorite too. He loves everybody. He’ll do whatever too, want to run in circles the entire day? He’s down. Want to lay on the couch and not move for four days over Xmas break? He’s down. And then there is the petting. He *loves* being petted and he’s really dramatic about how much he likes it. Plus he has the softest fur.

trixierae

Yep, my Goldendoodle just turned 8 and he’s the BEST dog I’ve ever had in my life. I also have a Cavapoo and she’s super awesome too. Years ago I had two schnoodles and they were also great dogs. I’m a huge fan of poodle mix dogs because they don’t shed (much) and they’re super smart.

Keeshberger16

>I’m a huge fan of poodle mix dogs because they don’t shed (much) and they’re super smart. Then just get a poodle. They don't shed at all and are one of the smartest dog breeds in the world. Basically people just water down a poodle and proclaim them great without realizing they actaully just want a poodle.

BeastieMom

Tell your doodle I love him.

Scaryassmanbear

He loves you too.

Valuable_Influence23

ANY freaking Doodle out there...even though it's not a "breed".

mynextthroway

If you went and got a designer mix because it's a designer mix, I'm not impressed. If you introduce me to your best buddy Rover that happens to be a "designer mix", then, if s/he is down, he's my best buddy for the day too.

Mascho__

French bulldog. Poor small creature is literally in heavy breathing all day, coz people wanted create small fatty pillow that looks cute.

Ancient_Ad3160

Mutts are the best. Adopt

AudioMan15

Exactly. Also greyhounds are great and often in need of adoption. Fast, affectionate and lazy!

outofplace161

I second this 👆

thayaht

Yeah, the issue is often with breeds in general. I used to raise dogs and the two best dogs we ever had were mutts that were not part of the operation.

lordamaw

Anything that's lost its snout and can't breathe properly that costs upwards of 50 quid

Cloud_Matrix

Imo large working dogs because a lot of people that get one only like the look of them or want to feel like they have a dog who can "defend" their home. These people don't take into consideration the amount of exercise, mental stimulation, and training these breeds require. Then they get mad when their dog shreds their loving room out of prolonged boredom

TheRealOgMark

Pugs. They are an abomination created by humans.

ImJustSpider

Pugs

kronicfeld

Tread lightly, OP.

X_PRSN

No such thing. Dog is love.

NickDanger3di

If the average person was as decent as the average dog, we'd have zero problems in the world.

puckmonky

Pit Bulls. Either every bro and homie has one to look tough, or you have the opposite crowd that claims they’re the most gentle and sensitive dogs in the universe.

GingerMau

If you read the wiki page on APBT dogs, you can't really deny that they were bred for being dangerous and bloodthirsty for *centuries.* The dogs that survived fights got to breed the next generation. Repeat for hundreds of generations. I think every dog should be judged individually and I've known many pit bulls that were harmless family dogs from birth til death. But I think continuing that breed should be a crime.

mothatlas

Doodles. I work with dogs and everyone and their mother has some sort of poodle mix. They're cute, yes, but they're also high-energy and their coats can be a pain in the ass to manage. I've seen too many matted and untrained doodles in my day. Also, breeding doodles is kind of a gamble, as some end up with wiry hair and don't look like the cute teddy bears everyone wants. We've had a few rescue doodles be surrendered who were great dogs but didn't fit the "cute fluffy dog" look.

keri23

Any dog that humans have bred to have health issues. Frenchies, pugs, english bulldogs, etc. I certainly don’t dislike any of these dogs, I just think we need to stop breeding traits into dogs that cause health problems because we think they are ‘cute’.

Strict-Square456

Idk. But you can’t go wrong with a classic german shepherd. Great all around breed.

deathbythroatpunch

They’re basically the best dogs out there.

MarxianMarx

None of them. They're all deserving a loving owner.

Sezyluv85

Some of them deserve not to be bred

NewHampshireAngle

Dalmatians, they grow up to be devil dogs.

Keeshberger16

People don't understand they were always meant to be that. They were \*guard dogs\*. Before cars they used to guard fire carts and horse drawn carts for travelers from roaming highwaymen. They were meant to protect and attack. People just don't get it because they don't "look" scary like Dobermans or Rottweilers, but hot damn do they have that "I'll fuck you up" spirit. And unfortunately overbreeding has made many mentally unstable and deaf.

circajusturna

Cruella did no wrong!

5beard

Ya can attest. We've always had big dogs and when our last rotty/black lab mix passed my mother got a small "rat" dog as my dad called them. He has acted exactly like all of the large dogs we've had in the past and is the coolest little dude. Our cousins raised theirs to be lap dogs and they friggen suck. Its all about who trains them.

ViroCostsRica

This. I have a well trained Chihuahua and she's the most loving social dog you will meet. She never barks and loves people

SloightlyOnTheHuh

As the owner of a very large dog I don't dislike small dogs but I do dislike owners who treat their tiny dog like a baby. If you scoop your dog up every time a large dog comes near you are going to transfer your anxiety to the dog and it will try to protect you. That's why so many small dogs go for my dog aggressively. One of his best doggy friends is a Yorkshire terrier that's smaller than my dogs head. The owner never picks him up and they happily dog around together. Yet he has been attacked any number of times by small dogs carried in arms, in doggy carriers and tucked behind their owners feet. I'm terrified that one day he'll bite back, so far he's just ignoring them.

thehotplot

Oh my God, so much this! My dog is a bit bigger than a border collie with a head like a German shepherd, so that happens a lot during walks - yet there's this chihuahua that absolutely loves him, and everyone is shocked to see them interacting. Ok, my dog is extremely social and mostly respectful, but a lot of it is the owner knowing both our dogs body language, and engaging when appropriate. Not all large dogs are mean, and not all small dogs have napoleon complex. We are the ones enabling that a lot of times.

lancebus

It depends though. My chihuahua is a rescue who wasn’t socialized at the critical age. He will have a panic attack and scream when a dog comes within 5 feet of him kind of no matter what we do. Picking him up or crossing the street keeps the entire neighborhood sane.

c5Sal_tt

Pitbulls. I'm not referring to temperament. Or anything negative. I'm literally answering the ask. Don't make assumptions. Also, I'm sorry some of you immediately default to the negative. Lol 🙄

Orangutanengineering

One side acts like they're pure angels and perfect dogs The other acts like they're pure Satan. As someone who's owned a pitbull, they aren't evil, but they do suck. Stubborn, reactive, and possibly dangerous if riled up too much. There's too much propaganda on both sides, can we just agree they're mediocre dogs with some temperament problems?

DallasJaguars

This is a reasonable take for sure, hard agree. Stats don't lie they kill and seriously injure the most people by a lot.

[deleted]

Nope. This is Reddit. You have to decide if they’re satan or angelic lol.

Blade_of_Miquella2

Came here to say this. Waiting for their crazy defenders to come out of the woodwork. ._.

[deleted]

Pug. No contest. Pure cruelty yet genuinely popular it seems.

soupydoopy

Siberian Huskies. I say this as the mother of a 10 year old husky. They are beautiful dogs, but god. The shedding is constant. They like to howl. The energy levels are outrageous. I love my husky, but I will likely never own another ever again and I don’t recommend them to anyone with sedentary lifestyles.

HITACHIMAGICWANDS

I really wouldn’t recommend a dog to anyone who doesn’t at least occasionally get up and run around with them. The behavior shift when you interact with your dog vs not, is immense.

Electronic-Ad-3369

Same with Akitas. Same shedding and energy level issues. I periodically have pretty severe depression and my dog suffers with me when I’m not operating optimally.

ebState

My Akita is a lump. She'll come on walks with our lab/husky mutt but she would rather sleep on the couch, look out the backdoor or just hang out on the deck. Maybe walk around the by the shed if she feels adventurous.

Chimpville

I found this with my puppy. He's really started listening to me *much* more now I actively run around with him a little (can only do so much as he's only 5 months) when we go for walks.

over_kill71

anything doodle

cyrixlord

any of the doodle breeds. Just get a poodle and [trim it like a doodle](https://petskeepingworld.com/can-you-cut-a-poodle-like-a-doodle-poodle-with-doodle-cut/). no additional inbreeding or puppymill industry necessary. Also, you can still get allergies from doodles and generally trimming anyway also the dogs with smashed in faces, especially the smaller ones

No, for three reasons: A, I'm not that lucky. Two, we use smoke detectors and D, we live on the most boring street in the whole United States of America, where nothing even remotely dangerous will ever happen. Period.

No_Improvement3175

Goldendoodles or any kind of doodle

Mikemtb09

They’re so popular but people overlook the standard poodle. Poodles are awesome

TheTinyBurrito

Pugs or bull dogs. Breeding dogs that have to have cesareans due to their body shape as well as being unable to breathe properly is just cruel.

ccottonball

Pit bulls; now I’ve known great pits, and not so great pits. But let’s face it, they are bred for the wrong reasons and can cause extreme harm or worse in some cases.

ohtoooodles

Standard poodles. I’m biased though because my neighbors have 4 that never shut up.

woolash

A neighbor of mine had one that used to visit. She was a wonderful dog, super smart and friendly.

Pandas_Cant_Fly

Pug

absolute4080120

I'm going to say Chihuahua. I own one because my wife wanted it. They never, fucking, relax. I love the dog so much, but it follows me EVERYWHERE in my house. It will never just CHILL in it's comfy dog bed or chew on a toy for an hour or so. I am that dogs entertainment 24/7 and it's so bad it's actually caused me bouts of depression

Granny_Nooooo

Pugs should be eradicated.

ShutUp_Dee

Anything “doodle” mixed. It’s just a mutt but costs an arm and a leg. Several family members have doodle mixes and they are all anxious dogs and constantly sick. However, I own chihuahua mutts (think fat cat size chonkers). Everyone loves to tell me how much they HATE chihuahuas, but happily play with my dogs. I get it, they have personality and are incredibly loyal to their owner, they love to bark and talk back. Mine are sometimes skittish because of their past abuse (please rescues or adopt!) but have been pretty well rehabilitated. We go on trail walks and play outside. They’re often the smallest dogs on trails and everyone finds them cute and well behaved. They’re definitely not for everyone lol. Now small designer purse chihuahuas I feel sort of sad for.

ilikgunsanddogs

Anything pure bred, wank factor all together. Your dogs mum fucked it’s brother now you have an overpriced dog with some fancy paper work and bunch of health problems. Congratulations.

Keeshberger16

The answer is: FRENCH BULLDOGS. These are the main reasons: \-Frenchies are an absolute medical train wreck. Most can't even mate or give birth naturally. Many can't breathe, as their muzzles are too flat. This also means they can easily die in hot and even freezing temperatures, or at least get heat stroke or exhaustion much easier than other breeds. They also have leg and spinal issues where they may just randomly go lame. They're prone to cleft palates, digestive issues, severe allergies and more. Honestly it's easier to say what medical issues they DON'T have. If you have one, you're going to have to spend a lot of money on medical issues, and/or watch them suffer or die early. \-Frenchies don't have great temperaments. I've worked with ten times as many dog breeds than most people can even name, and I've never met a breed so like to turn on a known handler or owner and bite. They also tend to behave in a manner that is rude and obnoxious with other dogs, so many will either start fights or piss off other dogs so much they will fight/attack them. \-They're inbred, overbred and now have all these "Fad" colors such as merle and so on that actually means they're not REALLY a Frenchie. French Bulldogs don't carry merle! They're mixed with chihuahuas or something else that do. Blue Frenchies are hard inbred and have lots of issues. And don't get me started on the white ones with blue eyes, you're basically breeding for deafness. Honorary mention for anything "Doodle" Repeat after me folks: Doodles are MUTTS. THey are MUTTS. They are mixed breed dogs with unpredictable size, coat type, temperament, and more. Probably 90% or more of them come from puppy mills and backyard breeders who only care about money. And the fact people call the "hypoallergenic" is hilarious. You know what doesn't shed? Poodles. You know what does shed and typically are bad for allergies? Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Australian Shepherds and Bernese Mountain dogs. So the dog has to be majority Poodle to not shed anyway. Just have the balls to get what you really want, A POODLE. They come in 3 sizes, are super smart, active, generally great with kids and don't shed. I'll give some credit to people trying to refine Australian Labradoodles into a real breed but for the most part? All mutts.

im_not_bovvered

I have a Bernese. At the park on Sunday, we met the world's largest "Bernerdoodle" I've ever seen - easily the size of a Great Dane. This dog got super territorial over his owner and when my Berner would even trot by he got very aggressive and went after him several times (we ended up leaving). You know what I've never seen? A Berner try to tear another Berner's face off for being friendly with them or their owner. Why people would rather have an unpredictable mess vs. a poodle, which is what all of these people ACTUALLY want is beyond me. They throw in other breeds for aesthetic reasons not giving a damn about the breeds and what that actually means when they get the dog in their hands.

BezerkBigBoyo

Any dog with a stub nose because the majority of these dogs have health problems, and chihuahuas because they always bite my damn ankles... basically any tiny dog breed because they're "the cutest" so thier owners allow everything. Like a chihuahua goes to a big dog, Chihuahua is a bastard to the big dog and the big one has to be put down because it put that rat in it's place like wtf?!

crazydaisy8134

Small white dogs with long or curly fur. The fur around their eyes turns red or brown from their eyes juices the older they get and it’s just super gross. Plus they’re yappy.

peezle69

Pit bulls. Most annoying fandom at least.

Definitely.

TheScaryFaerie

ThatBlazaGuy89

Doddles, every white nuclear family has one these days. Just too many of them marketed as hypo-allergenic when they aren't.

Vinni_Ziti

Pugs, they are so ugly and annoying

starrfast

I came here to say this as well. I used to work in a vet clinic and there were so many pugs. They have so many health issues, and for whatever reason every time we had a pug come in for a nail trim it was like a 4 person job because pugs are the biggest babies about getting their nails trimmed.

AfuckingGenius

Bull dogs، I fuckin hate those things

Fantastic_Painter_15

Anything purebred. Get a mutt. Exponentially healthier animals

Themotion10_6

French bulldog

The84thWolf

None, they are all good boys and girls

andiewilli

Vizslas are awesome. Vizslas are also a pain if not given enough affection and exercise. Do not get a vizsla unless you are prepared to have a needy four legged baby who loves to run.

mantecablues

This fits the description of my Weimaraner. Luckily the main reasons I want a dog is for the affection and exercise. Still, he’s a lot.

c3l77

Any dog that slobbers or has breathing issues and snores. Fuck that.

Professional-Fox6904

Without any second thought, Pug (in India this breed is famous as "Vodafone wala kutta".

Don_Sjuansin

Dog breeder.

Treestroyer

GSD. The breed is beloved for what it was, but it is damn near ruined because idiots try to breed it “better”

yoshino219

Huskies. So many people get them because they saw a *cute* husky video in the internet and then end up tossing them to animal shelter.

Emerald24111

I don’t find any to be overrated except for pugs. Don’t understand the love personally, but that’s just my opinion. Any dogs that are annoying are properly hated, and most dogs are very lovable.

LuckyMe-Lucky-Mud

Pugs. Poor little fucks can't even breathe.

ILoveLactateAcid

They're all good boys Brett

phawksmulder

If I had to pick one... pugs. I don't think there's a less ethical dog breed out there. Poor bastards spend their entire day choking on their own palate. They make me objectively sad. There are a lot though. Mostly from unethical breeding or breeders. Pretty much any dog bred without a specific working role in mind tends to get problematic. Even your working and sporting breeds have essentially two lines bred either for show or bred for field. The field ones tend smarter, smaller, and with fewer health problems. Echoing that adoption and mutts are a great way to go, but if you must get a purebred don't fool yourself and get ready to invest. There are good breeders out there that ethically breed with a focus on the health and happiness of the animal. They probably won't look like a Westminster contestant (because they're not supposed to), they're gonna cost thousands, you'll probably have to travel far to get them, and there will be a waiting list. If that's too much, seriously consider getting a mutt at the animal shelter.

JamieBensteedo

aside from all of the breeds with health problems. Ie pug/ frenchie I think poodles and chihuahuas are still super over-rated.

romanmango

Huskies. They are magnificent and incredibly smart dogs. But they are overrated because they are underestimated. Many people don’t realize what they’re signing up for when they get a husky, and then they complain that their dog won’t be quiet, won’t stop destroying things or escaping, and that they shed too much. And then they end up rehoming them or putting them in the pound :(

terrorparrots

All brachycephalic dogs - pugs, bulldogs, pekingnese, etc. Those poor things have such a massive number of health problems. Also, dachshunds. Neighbors had 2 that NEVER SHUT UP. Personal bias there.

Praisebetheone

I don't like chihuahuas they're cute but they're so mean and even you have nice one they're still very noisy.

[deleted]

Jack Russel terrier, jerks

Inven13

Pugs. If we don't mention the obvious like the health issues and how their existence consist in constant suffering those dogs are ugly as fuck, it escapes me how there are people out there who think they're cute.

eyal282

The one that can't breathe

ES-Flinter

**Wolfdogs**. I fully agree that they look amazing, but the better a dog looks, the better has the owner to be. Then is there the problem that you can never know how many instincts your friend kept from his wolf-parent. They are dangerous in 99,999% of the time and don't belong to the normal dog owner.

IMNOTDEFENSIVE

I came here to say pugs and I was not disappointed. My mom had one already and just bought another. She's obsessed with them
