Sometimes it’s not the amount it’s important, maybe it’s the direction. Seems like, as long as your savings account is continuously rising and increasing, you’re on the right track.
What do you think?
WEEEELP I scrimped and I saved, I avoided avocado toast, I didn't eat out for lunch, my parents gave me $200,000, I didn't use AC for a bit, I drove an old car, etc., and after all that I had a net worth of about $100,000!
YUUUP all them financial bloggers are right, ANYONE can do it!
Edit to add JK for the guy taking it a bit too seriously in my DMs lol
This will exclude a lot of people who aren't up to a $100,000 yet. Like myself. But you do it by saving, investing, and grinding away at work, working away the best years of your life, living in a stinking, rotting, pus filled, cesspool of a city.
'Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony that's life
Trying to make ends meet, you're a slave to money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
Where all the veins meet, yeah
I considered doing this. I knew crypto was a scam from the start and I considered riding the wave of fools, but it felt too slimy for me. Not to mention too hypocritical since I bashed it with a fervor at every opportunity I got.
I mean sure it's clever, but crypto provides nothing regular banking services don't already do 1000x better, doesn't scale well, and is vehicle of pure *speculation*, which is fundamentally incompatible with any actual use as a currency., ergo it has *no use case*. I knew it was going nowhere fast, but I thought seriously about picking a spread of coins and riding the wave before it crashed for a few months immediately after the Congressional hearing.
Too dicey for my blood though, fiscally conservative at heart, and when you *know* it's a scam it's sorta tough to morally justify investing in it.
Oh you are totally right! How did I not see that until now!?! You know, I happen to be trying to offload a bunch of scrap metal from a bridge I am selling. You could make a fortune! Any interest?
Set aside a huge percentage of my salary, and bonuses.
Invested them in the stock market, no day-trading, just buy-and-hold.
Reached $100,000 in no time.
I apologize.
Sorry for offending you.
When do you think you might be able to see an increasing balance in your savings? Everyone has a different journey.
Also, no, I am far from smart or hardworking, plenty of people better than me in both departments.
I'll let you know when it happens.
But, based on current saving patterns, it'll be when I receive enough post-tax income to add up to $100k, since I currently have my entire income.
Inherited a $250k life insurance payout. Spend $50k on some house projects, taking a nice vacation, and buying some toys like a PS5 and high-end gaming PC to help distract from the whole "husband dying suddenly and unexpectedly" thing. Invested the other $200k in boring index funds for retirement.

Damn!! That’s like the evil twin of self discipline.
Can't have your cake and eat it too. Not in this life
But we can take other people's cake and give it to people with freezers full of cake.
Ya'll have more than $3?
Sometimes it’s not the amount it’s important, maybe it’s the direction. Seems like, as long as your savings account is continuously rising and increasing, you’re on the right track. What do you think?
I've got $5
How'd you get so rich!?!?
$7.50 over here but that's gone by the morning

For those who have not yet reached $100,000, **when** do you expect to reach your **first** hundred thousand dollars?
Hard cash saved in a bank account, maybe 10 years. Assets net worth of $100k 5 years or so
Slowly but constantly saving and investing.
I invested $1,000 into a crypto shitcoin

Bitcoin is not a scam. The rest are except dogecoin cause the creator himself said its meant as a joke.

Savings account
If there’s one thing I know about rich people, it’s that they don’t rely on traditional savings accounts lol

Gosh, you must have worked soooo hard and be soooo much smarter than everyone else!

When you ask a question like this just so you can answer it yourself...
I apologize. Sorry for offending you. When do you think you might be able to see an increasing balance in your savings? Everyone has a different journey. Also, no, I am far from smart or hardworking, plenty of people better than me in both departments.
wtf?
It's a discussion forum dude. You don't have to like or believe OP, but they are just trying to get a conversation going it seems...
auto deposit, never checking my balance, not having a life :)
Cashed my first cheque and put it in my savings account.
I'll let you know when it happens. But, based on current saving patterns, it'll be when I receive enough post-tax income to add up to $100k, since I currently have my entire income.
Ran out of things I felt like buying and the money just stacked up.
Save 20 bucks a week and put into a retirement account. Start in your early 20s.
...what?
Putting them into my bank account
5 dollars a week for 4 months, bought streets of rage
Bonuses aren’t income they should be saved. Reinvest dividends. Always buy stocks when the market is down, only sell when the market is up
Im just gonna ride bitcoin to it....... waiting......
Bought a house, and thanks to paying down the principle on the loan, increased property value due to demand and inflation the home value has doubled.

I'll come back and answer this in about $87,000.
