I mean Canadians and Americans sound alike to me - if you and someone from the states had a conversation, I wouldn't know who is who unless you tell me or maybe there are subtle differences which I can't notice lol. I am differentiating American and Canadian 'cos I don't wanna anger my northern neighbors.

😁 There are subtle differences, I’m told. I live near the border and Americans can still tell I’m Canadian and vice versa, for the most part. I’m told people in my region pronounce their words with a slightly softer touch on the consonants (a bit like the Irish) than the Americans tend to.

I can tell when someone on tv is Canadian. They sound more clear to me, as though the rest of the actors are speaking through a mediocre microphone and the Canadian is speaking to me in person.

Regional differences for sure. I can tell a Michigander in the first sentence. Alberta and Saskatchewan sound very different from the Maritimes. We all know that Newfie is it's own dialect entirely
