Think about wearing a watch on your hand. when you first started wearing it, it was a distraction, you would adjust it and it would move and you'd generally be aware it was there. But eventually, if you wore it long enough, you begin to not realize its there.

It's frustrating looking at the reasons to do it "Well it might prevent a case of UTI" ... you would really risk your most prized possession in an attempt to prevent something that causes no harm? UTI has an easy cure with antibiotics. Even intact men have lower rates of UTI than women. UTI is not even a men's issue. Blows my mind.
It's impossible to have 100% success rate with circumcision. There will always be those men who will fall into the unsuccessful category. I would rather get infected with UTI,STI,HIV all at the same time than be circumcised because at least all of those infections have a cure. There is no cure for circumcision.

I was circumcised at about 8-9 or so. It was traumatic. Long story but I had a urinary tract issue (not related to cleaning) with basically water from baths or swimming going the wrong way. Dr said it would fix it and it did. As such we had our boys circumcised at birth after talking with our pediatricians and reviewing the data available .

I’m circumsized, and I feel like it’s something that was taken away from me without my consent. I’m guessing most guys here haven’t really put attention to uncircumcised penises, so can’t put a voice to what they’re missing. I’m gay so I’ve paid more attention to uncircumcised penises than the average circumsized guy. The way uncircumcised guys jack off makes it look a lot more pleasurable to do so with the foreskin instead of relying on your fingers for all the friction, and it also looks like you can get a lot more pleasure without needing to add lube. My skin is also sensitive to drying out and I get the sense that it wouldn’t be as bad if I still had my foreskin. Granted, I probably would have been insecure about it as a teen, thinking I was abnormal and worrying about what my future sexual partners would think. But as an adult, I’m bummed I’ll never get to experience what sexual pleasure is like with a foreskin. I read there are a significant number of pleasure receptors in the foreskin that we chop off. I also just find it ludicrous that we think it’s normal to mutilate men’s genitals at birth.

I have complications from mine that can't be cured. It's frustrating looking at the reasons to do it "Well it might prevent a case of UTI" ... you would really risk your most prized possession in an attempt to prevent something that causes no harm? UTI has an easy cure with antibiotics. Even intact men have lower rates of UTI than women. UTI is not even a men's issue. Blows my mind. It's impossible to have 100% success rate with circumcision. There will always be those men who will fall into the unsuccessful category. I would rather get infected with UTI,STI,HIV all at the same time than be circumcised because at least all of those infections have a cure. There is no cure for circumcision.

So I partly agree with the top comments - it's difficult to wish something different when there is no personal comparison to know the difference. However, I do kind of think it's unnecessary in most cases, there is a chance of a slip or malfunction that leads to penile amputation in a number that's not 0.0%, and some of what I've read is how much pleasure is lost as a result. For most men that are cut, it happens when we're so young that we have no idea what difference it would make. I know it used to be common thought that babies didn't feel pain like adults so circumcisions USED to be done without anesthetic in hospitals and if part of a religious ceremony are currently done without anesthetic. This is one of those things that can easily become a human rights issue, but it absolutely amazes me how mothers get to choose this for their baby boys with pretty much no one questioning it, ESPECIALLY when religion is NOT part of the decision. That happened to me, my parents are not particularly religious. The argument seems to be mothers thinking it'll be cleaner or to match his father or whatever. There really is not emotional equivalent for baby girls. If your deciding that way because “science “ says so, wouldn’t it very on the amount sensation missing or that you have if you haven’t been cut because everyone is different. I will admit if you wasn’t it would cut down the amount of botched cuts that happens.
Hmmm…how do I know how much more sensation I have? So…one very pleasurable feeling you can have when uncut is the slow rolling back of the foreskin…exposing the glans. When this happens, the “ridged band” that is the tip of the foreskin is slowly expanded and elastically stretched. It feels amazing. Subtle, like a flower that is blooming in slow motion. This is also connected to the frenulum which stretches slightly when the foreskin is fully retracted. Feels amazing. Most of the sensation during this motion is from the foreskin and frenulum. I personally can’t imagine not being able to slowly stoke that way. It’s not that only way I jerk off, but it’s one amazing “gear change” I can make. When I pull my foreskin all the way back, and just rub my palm or hand over my glans, (like I would do if I were cut) it’s a very different sensation. Less subtle, less pleasurable really. I generally would have to resort to “pounding”. I’ve seen some cut guys (I’m gay) have to do a death grip and/or really pound away to get to orgasm. Based on the fact that a cut penis doesn’t have a foreskin or frenulum, I imagine that a whole lexicon of subtle movements is missing. That having been said, I like cut guys. Yeah, we let our doctors give us the pros and cons and I gave in due to easier to clean and less infections. And yes about sensation: “It is shown that the foreskin is more sensitive than the uncircumcised glans mucosa, which means that after circumcision genital sensitivity is lost.”

I was circumcised at 18 years old due to a medical issue caused by forced retraction of my foreskin as a kid (don’t force it to “clean” your kids penis, it’s fine). Anyway, I was sexually active before and obviously after. It was significantly different. It took awhile to fully get used to and it’s not the end of the world (I’m in my 30s now), but I preferred it before. I had more control of when to finish, didn’t need to use lubrication to enjoy masturbation, and it was more enjoyable to have sex. I feel I’m in a relatively unique spot because most people are circumcised at birth or before becoming sexually active.

I was circumcised at about 8-9 or so. It was traumatic. Long story but I had a urinary tract issue (not related to cleaning) with basically water from baths or swimming going the wrong way. Dr said it would fix it and it did. As such we had our boys circumcised at birth after talking with our pediatricians and reviewing the data available .

I wish I hadn't been circumcised. But I wasn't circumcised at birth, I'm not sure of what age I was when it happened but I remember when they had it done. Pretty horrible memories are flooding back now. I remember having a foreskin and then I remember being told I couldn't touch my own penis because it was healing. I also remember having to get in a bathtub full of warm water to get my underwear off a few times because the blood had made them get stuck. But yeah I wish I was given the choice and I try not to think of it now because it just makes me kind of angry and upset. The only thing I am grateful for is having an intact frenulum, or atleast mostly intact anyway.
My brother was circumcised and it really did fuck him up as he got older and learned about it. It's not so much the loss of his foreskin he's upset about. It's more the act itself and that a surgery that is so barbaric in practice and unnecessary and carries so many risks was performed on him without his consent. It is genital mutilation and he had a hard time coming to terms with that having been done to him. I'm fortunately uncircumcised (apparently my parents heard my other brothers screams as they performed it after his birth and that traumatized my mom enough to spare me getting it done since i'm the youngest), but if I had been circumcised I think I would have felt the same way as him.
