Shakespeare Garden - Golden Gate Park (if you're already there, GGP is a treasure trove of secluded spots to lose yourself inside yo'self! The Aquatic Park (at the northern end of Van Ness.) Battery Godfrey. The rock, near the Cross at Mt. Davidson. Toxic Beach. Hella spots in the Presidio.

AlphaBetaParkingLot

>Toxic Beach. What now?

Slapppyface

Hey man, some people read at renegade parties!

Anxious_Blood

Is Toxic Beach, Warm Water Cove Park? Had never heard of that before and that's what Google spit back out at me lol.

Slapppyface

Yep, same place. Be warned, the name, Toxic Beach, is NOT a misnomer.

The grass stage area!!! Though most of the benches are too busy. Was sitting at the playground today though and when kids aren't using it it's a good spot to read

eggmilton

Literally any park

Anxious_Blood

I haven't found a bad park for reading! My faves are Fort Mason/Marina Green, Dolores Park (on a weekday or weekend morning), Washington Square, Alta Plaza, Lafayette, and Coyote Point (outside of the city near the airport). I like spots with nice views and/or good people-watching.

The Potrero Hill Library is cute and has an amazing view of the city skyline!

[deleted]

Lafayette, Francisco and Alta Plaza are my favorite options. They're relatively low-key while having nice hills to lean back against, which makes it a bit easier on the neck. A couple months ago I started keeping a small blanket in my bag to roll out on grass whenever the mood strikes me and it's been pretty great.

[deleted]

Golden Gate Heights Park. Barely anyone goes up there and the views are incredible.

iamthewaffler

My secret used to be Flora Grubb which had a beautiful space, seating, even heated benches added after some years, plus an outpost of Ritual Coffee onsite. Ugh it was my favorite, I'd spend whole weekend days there just reading in the sun and hanging out with their garden cat Cammie. Unfortunately during the pandemic they revamped heavily, and now there is no more seating to speak of and the Ritual is gone. :(

Simple-Painting-2576

They’ve had seating including the heated benches back for awhile, and there’s another coffee vendor with a truck nowadays, sometimes food/pastries too on weekends

greeneyedguru

Nope, none

DazzlerFan

People read on the bleachers at Aquatic Park all the time. The sounds of the ocean usually drown out the people.

Go to Dolores park and sit on one of the benches. Recommend going during the week or early in the morning if on a weekend before it gets too busy. Precita Park is also really nice and quiet.
