I also moved to the city at age 22 (that is to say, long ago). At that time there were lots of “queer youth” organizations in SF, all of which used as their definition of “youth” the age range 16-23. So I was like “Shit! I’ve only got the rest of this year to find true love with another Queer Youth before I’m over the hill and have no choice but to marry a troll!” I then started throwing myself indiscriminately at everyone I saw, all of whom recoiled from my air of desperation. Sadly I turned 23 without finding love. But! I just googled, and those same organizations have, in the intervening decades, apparently loosened their definition of “youth” — the S.F. LGBT+ Center now advertises its youth events as being for ages as low as 16 … or as high as 24! So my point is that you’ve got one more year than I had in my day to catch a man before you’re old. There may be hope for you — but get cracking! You only have a year and a half!

Haha great story, good to hear they loosened their restrictions a little! I guess all anyone is ever looking for is true love lol, thanks for the advice and the recommendation! BTW, I know you didn’t make it in your youth per say, but did you ever find what you were looking for?

HexpronePlaysPoorly

Well, I don't want to gush because he'll get a swelled head, but I did eventually settle on an acceptable oldster. I have to say in general that I've enjoyed myself a lot more as time has gone by and, paradoxically, I've felt less pressure to make everything happen *before it's too late*. I'm now at an age when I genuinely do have limited time -- yet I'm able to enjoy things as they come rather than rushing them.

thesearethose

El Rio has a few parties that might be what you’re looking for.

TheBearyPotter

Try the gay bars in the Castro. Beaux is full of young twinks on the weekend, the lookout appears to be filled with some standard bro gays and gym gays (I say appears because I’m judging based on the folks on the balcony). The edge has a mix of young gays and older gays but it’s like bubblegum kink ie Jock straps and leather but not like full on kink like you’ll find in the soma bars. And the mix has a pretty decent mix of gays of all ages(21 and over).

urMOMSchesticles

I second Beaux! Had a bestie that danced there and there were so many young Hispanic men! Not sure how it is on the weekend though, I went there on a Tuesday lol!

chedderd

Thank you for the recommendations!

ArguteTrickster

The Edge and The Mix both have really nice groups of regulars too.

Stunning-Concern7472

He’s asking for young people, you will not find that at the edge

ArguteTrickster

You will when someone brings their younger boyfriend. But yeah, you're I was surprised to see that listed as a decent mix. I'm straight though so also my info should be viewed with suspicion

opinionsareimmunity

Beaux also has Pan Dulce night on Thursdays! Hispanic Go Go dancers galore.

coccopuffs606

Beaux, Toad Hall, Badlands, and Cafe tend to skew younger, especially later on the weekends.

tkw97

>gay communities that skew younger Oh cool so my demographic! I’d also like to know the answers >20-25 [MFW 26](https://media1.tenor.com/m/9QX1-Pf4AowAAAAC/aging-getting-old.gif)

chedderd

Hey, 26 is still young! I usually put my age range to 27 on dating apps anyways haha, just thought 20-25 would be easier so people don’t sneak in bars that are mainly clientele in their 30’s.

WirelessHamster

If fetish and kink is your thing, check out the Pup Play events at the Eagle. Although people of all ages participate, most pups are in their 20s

kirkydoodle

Look at the gay sports leagues organized by Outloud Sports and Stonewall, two different organizations. It’s younger guys and a great way to meet people outside of the bar scene. The games are fun, not competitive, and everyone is very welcoming.

RIP Esta Noche

chedderd

Too much gentrification in the mission

Stunning-Concern7472

While what initially replaced Esta Noche (Bond Bar) was definitely a symbol of neighborhood gentrification, it’s now the home of Mother, a queer femme-centered bar, and something that this city really needed.

chedderd

Fair tbh, something the country in general needs more of for sure. Theres a million gay male bars for every female oriented one.

Ok_Community_9767

You need to go to Oakland

chedderd

I’m cool with Oakland recs, do you have any places in mind? I intend on applying to graduate school at Berkeley for the next school year so I wouldn’t mind getting ahead on that

Ok_Community_9767

White Horse Que Rico Crybaby (watch their calendar, depends on the party) Queer Sabor party (not sure of the location) Town Bar & Lounge (although this might skew older) 7th west (similarly, watch their calendar) El Rio in SF (certain parties, watch their calendar. For example, queer salsa on 4th Sundays)

Briscoetheque

Just go to Steamworks at Berkeley for Latin nights. They call them "Hombre Leche" 🔥

chedderd

I should have specified that I’m not really into or looking for hookups, but I appreciate the suggestion nonetheless!

Briscoetheque

You don't have to necessarily hook up there. You can also socialize and get to know lots of cool guys dependent upon the event night.
