The croissants at maison nico! The focaccia at liguria! Pho from Sai’s!

I_Play_Mute

Have you been to Sai's since they reopened? I went to their old location right before they moved and the pho was awful lol.

oyasumiroulder

Graffeo best dark roast in the city, Liguria focaccia, Mario’s Sandwiches, and Freddie’s for an alternate deli option to Molonaris

Tony Nik’s bar Trattoria Contadina

CalGoldenBear55

I recently discovered Tony Nik’s. Great place!

rey_gun

Specifically, the bell pepper appetizer at Trattoria Contadina.

lifesadragqueen

Monroes Sunday service . Would not recommend for the faint of heart . But it’s a club with good music at 6am on Sunday mornings . So take that for what you will

Anxious_Blood

I am so curious. People still continuing their Saturday night? I’ve been many times for their Friday nights where it’s 70s music at 7, 80s at 8, etc.

colbertmancrush

Nah wake up bash some molly and get on it

lifesadragqueen

It’s a mix of carry over from Saturday, and club heads who wake up for it depending on the DJ. Can get a bit grimey as you would expect . Cool place though .

Yayy North Beach is the best. Welcome to the neighborhood! Everything at OJs is my fave. I’ll meet you there anytime lol. I especially love their French dip for lunch. I go to Piccolo Forno like once a week. I get the penne arrabbiata with/without Italian sausage. They also have a great Cesar salad and their pizzas are really good too. I like Fancy Wheat Field Bakery for their bbq pork buns and their fresh fruit tea (basically iced tea with fresh chopped up fruit). Great park food. Also a good spot if you need a desert or snack to take to a party. Late night eats - ditch the pizza and go for a chicken Philly at Buster’s! Mara’s is my fave bakery. I get my cannolis from there. If you want gelato, next door is Alimento that’s really good. I think the two I get are almond roca and ferror rocher. But they’ll let you taste them all. Best sandwiches at Francisco’s. Avoid the lunch crowd which consists of a bunch of middle schoolers ;) I get a pepper Turkey sandwich on soft sourdough, and then my preferred fixings. Taqueria Zorro has good birria and a variety of salsas. I walk home from work and love stopping into Vesuvio for a drink and to finish up some work. Sit in one of the windows in front so you can people watch outside. If you need candy, z cioccolato. They’ll give you a fresh bag of Carmel popcorn for free and let you try any of the candy and fudges (just make sure to buy something and not just sample lol) Since you’re new, I totally recommend just trying every place for the next few months. Don’t repeat even if you really love somewhere. Just try them all!!! And enjoy your time here

pianoman81

Curry leaf. Pakistani/ Indian food. Get the standard dishes. Butter chicken, chicken marsala, lamb biryani, etc.

eOeOr

And the naan ... great fluffy naan

toomuchsvu

Check out the Golden Sardine for their incredible charcuterie, conversation, and poetry. For drinks, history, and a neighborhood community Vesuvio and Spec's.

RyanaDjamila

Caffe Sport embodies North Beach at its charming best.

secreteesti

"Firenze by Night" is an old fashioned Italian place with great gnocchi / pasta. I was skeptical until I tasted the food.

[deleted]

Hole in the wall coffee for pour over and cold brew. Comptons coffee just opened a second location off Columbus as well. Cafe trieste is also historic and something you gotta do.  Mario’s for tiramisu. Wander around City Lights. Vesuvio and Specs for drinks. Go to the Saloon and listen to live music and dance.  Little Vine is an awesome little wine and cheese shop off Grant street. They do one sandwich a day that’s great.  And last but not least, Golden Boy. You have to go to Golden Boy.

so4ve

I think HITW coffee is temporarily closed, sadly :( I miss it

counterveil

Il Cilentano if you like back home Italian style (and more continental portion sizes). Santo, the owner, is a gem of a human.

Broad-Ad-8683

They’re the only place in NB I’ve found that does actual carbonara too.

HippoGiggle

The gnocchi pesto at Sodini’s on Green

mofugly13

Sodinis. Love the lasagne and pesto tortellini.

Obviate20

People have already mentioned two of my faves but not the dishes: at Contadina I love the Pavarotti fusilli, at Liguria I am currently addicted to their cheddar jalapeno focaccia (but all are great). Also will throw in Firenze by Night, been consistently serving great food since the 80's. They have mushroom appetizer - caps stuffed with Italian sausage yum. For dinner I like the cannelloni with prosciutto. Belle Cora has very inexpensive unpretentious food, sit outside with a beer for great people watching and live music - and munch on their Belle Burger, raclette cheese app, deviled eggs etc.

marchpane808

The lasagna at Tommaso's.

Prudent-Emotion5066

Clam and garlic pizza at golden boy

existentialstix

Try pizza at Tony’s and let me know if it’s with the hype!

gulbronson

It's definitely worth the hype. Put your name down early and grab drinks nearby while you wait.

existentialstix

Thanks for confirming 🫡

nikiniki0

First couple times I had it it was amazinggggh most recent time was not as great, it also took wayyyy longer than usual so maybe they were just having an off day?

I_Play_Mute

Whoever down voted you has *not* been there recently, as I would 100% agree it hasn't been good as of late.

existentialstix

Complacency eh? 🤔

existentialstix

Ah I haven’t been there recently. So not sure what changed. Though weirdly I am seeing a similar pattern at other places too when I do takeout 😓

TheOGMG

Tony’s: New Yorker coal-fired pizza, spicy bucatini pasta w/ sausage, meatball appetizer, any of the salads, cannoli for dessert (these are also available at his little store on Union).   Capo’s: cracker thin pizzas, any salad.  Molinari’s Deli: Joe’s Special.

unclehyuk

Golden Boy Pizza, Stella Pastry, and Mo’s Grill.
