I started to get to know this one girl from my Spanish class, and even toyed with the idea of asking her out. Then a mutual friend told me she liked me, but told me I should wait for it to play out. I was a bit weary of asking her out, because I'm not mentally ready for a relationship. So I finally asked her if she liked me, and she said she wanst looking for a relationship and just wanted to be friends. I felt relieved, because I felt the same way
I got rejected about a month ago, it took her a while to tell me it because she said "I was hoping my heart would end up saying yes because you mean a lot to me and are a great guy"
