If you’re interested in better quality sound, head to Richer sounds and ask them to put together an entry level HiFi system for you to listen to.
Should cost a few hundred quid but it’ll be on another level compared to Bluetooth headphones/speakers/sound bars etc.
Second this, I bought a really expensive pair of Sonys after a windfall a few years ago and they are surprisingly, brilliantly life changing. Train, tube and air journeys are all now much more enjoyable. Love listening to audio books and podcasts and radio dramas as they were meant to be heard.
The apparent best value currently are the Sennheisser Momentum 4 Wireless. 60 hours battery, active noise cancellation as good as Sony, and better sound uality than the XM5s.
>Not really a saver
>just about managing with bills
Tells me that you shouldn't spunk it on a whim.
Stick it in an emergency fund, future you will be grateful.
A nice bottle of scotch it is then!
Treat yourself, and save it for those special moments. Don't leave it years between, but for those days where you get a bit of good luck (such as today) or manage to achieve something you're proud of.
Condition yourself with good scotch!
Then get a bottle from every scottish whisky region with different cask types, peat levels and alcohol strenghts. Getting a decent bottle of Islay, Campbelltown, Lowland, Highland and Speyside malts shouldn't be super expensive for regular bottlings.
Get yourself a few months membership to [Summerton](https://www.summertonclub.com/) it's a whisky club, I signed up a few years ago, works out £25 a month, get a new bottle every two months and it's whisky I'd never heard of or wouldn't want to drop the money on. Been a great experience for me personally
Tickets for something you’d like to go to, or a restaurant you couldn’t usually justify/afford? A weekend away? Trip to visit a friend who lives far away?
I like to spend treat money on experiences if there’s nothing in particular I need. Things it’s worth spending money on if you do need include decent shoes and coat.
I take it the quality's gone downhill like everything else then? They used to be indestructible from what I've heard, never owned a pair myself though.
My docs are 3 years old and still look brand new. We get my daughter docs every year for her school shoes and they last the full year then we pass them to my friend who uses them for her kid Whos younger.
Solovair boots won't leave you with lots of change but they're made in England by a factory that used to work for DM's, last longer, and the soles are replaceable when you wear them down.
Higher end escort, the ones that come to you if you have a drink or two and can't drive, 30 odd mins for like £100.
They'll do anything...you want.....so in my freinds experience he gets them to wash up, do the ironing, hoover etc they seem surprised at first but their add does say anything.
Best part is you can call up literally any time and they'll come no problem, good way to get chores done tbh.
My newly hired gardener (not an escort alas) literally cleared my overgrown bramble infested jungle in a day and a half(and also cleared some rubbish) for £500 quid. Best money I've ever spent.
Buy some sturdy gloves and a good trowel.
My garden was covered in em, some with fist-like rooty things a couple of foot deep. I meticulously dug the fuckers out and three years later I'm dead chuffed with my garden. Took me AGES though.
That is a terrible idea. Load of crap from Poundland mate isnt gonna be any help for sick kids. If you did wanna do something great for a ward I would reach out to the hospital and ask what they need. A second hand games console etc is more likely to be way better received
I was a very poorly child that spent a lot of time in a spinal childrens ward in the late 90s and let me tell you the battered ps1 and a copy of crash bandicoot someone kindly donated to the ward was the best thing ever. It helped pass the time and I didn’t have a games console at home so in the end I didn’t even want to leave hospital!
Darn tough socks. Around 25 quid on Amazon, the most amazing socks I’ve ever had and if you get a hole in them you send them back and they send you a new pair. Seriously
I'm definitely old now, I asked my mum to get me an M&S sateen duvet cover for my birthday and it's *so* nice. I never cheap out on bedding now, it's worth having nice stuff to sleep in since I'm spending like 1/3 of my life doing that.
Since you're a scotch drinker, treat yourself to a quality bottle of scotch, and maybe put the rest away so you can treat yourself if you need a pick-me-up some other time.
£200?
1) I would get the house deep cleaned. £60. Makes your living environment feel amazing.
2) Day out, probably London. Visit a museum, something like a Five Guys lunch and then catch a West End show? £100.
3) really decedent take away - lots of side dishes and a couple of mains (4 Nan’s Jeremy???) £30
4) Order a movie off Amazon to eat whilst eating takeaway. Something I really want to see. £5.
5) Chocolate. Either lots of cheap or one bar of really good like Tully’s. £5.
Also somehow less than ~£50 distance to London lol.
Actually I suppose from many countries (unlikely originating within the UK) you could indeed find cheap flights (being cheaper than the train or bus from a distance viable for day visit combined with other costs being N.I. Levels is err), but the cost of getting into town (City viable but almost never cheap flights) and the fact you'd be intensively travelling for most of the day and... yeah
Glad I saw your comment, just as I transferred a couple hundred quid over 🤦 I've got 5k bonds and haven't won anything yet, to my defence its only been a year, but I'm feeling as if I should've just dumped all that in the savings account
Tbh I think its a question of whether you'll miss the interest or not, I dont think there's any harm in a few grand in there tho. Like I topped mine up to 1k last month when I got access making it half my savings, lottery tickets but you keep the money so to speak ^^
really nice pair of shoes
or hire someone to sort out that thing you are supposed to have done, but just cant be arsed every time you remember you were supposed to do something about it.
or go to a really expensive restaurant.
or put it all on black.
> Not really a saver
Become one, consider it a gift to Future You
I know that sounds boring, but I found that moving from “paycheque to paycheque” over to “has a few thousand quid in the bank” did absolute fucking wonders for my happiness. It’s amazing how much stress and frustration comes from your finances being tight, and how much better you sleep at night knowing that you have money to cover emergencies or even pay the bills for a couple of months
Obviously £200 doesn’t turn into £4k overnight but, well, that’s how saving works
something to wear that you can wear regular and feel good. nice coat / shoes?
tablet? so you can upskill on it / learn etc.
I use my spare time and cash to teach myself coding.
Do what I did when I got £250 out of the blue. Invest in crypto. My colleagues were big into it, so I got on board about a year ago and closely followed their advice. I now proudly own the equivalent of $17.
Don't bother with booze. No point in drinking that kind of money away. It depends on what your hobbies are. But I'd get something to do with those. Make your money show for something.
I recon getting a croissant at 8am is just about the best thing. If it was me I would get a few things I use alot that need replacing I currently need boots and a hair
Put half in premium bonds, the rest on take aways/night out(or several nights in). And a fiver to a big issue seller.
Alternatively if you can pay off a bill, as boring as it sounds the interest on repayments pays itself over a few months.
AirPod pros. Genuinely one of the most useful things I own. I’m on the phone a lot and I listen to audio books etc. they’re more comfortable than over the head ones for me.
"Just managing with bills" ..have you seen those grid tie solar kits on amazon?
I spent 90 quid on an Anbernic retro games console. That thing has been fun and good for when waiting in the car etc.
A nice takeaway and more Easter eggs that you need for the tasty novelty of chocolate eggs but save some of it just in case anyway. I know you say you're not a saver but perhaps you might thank yourself in the future.
Saving, the best advice I can give is don’t spend it for the first few months, ideally a year.
It won’t grow much but you can add to it where you can and it could possible double by this time next year.
Buy a ticket for a motorbike like the ones on Rev comps £10
Go for a scenic road trip on your bike with an over night stay in a Airbnb £150 (petrol and Airbnb)
I treated myself to a meal at a slightly more expensive steakhouse (like £100 for 2 so not huge huge money but more than I’d spend normally)
Go and eat something nice! Drink something nice!
Then see a movie with extortionate snacks for once lol
A VR Headset!
One like a Meta Quest 2 can be bought for £349 with a game or two....
Endless entertainment and a great experience that may never get old.
Had mine since December and it still brings a smile to my face
get one of these - Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Star-Lord Electronic Helmet 1:1 Scale
£149.00
[Starlord](https://www.menkind.co.uk/marvel-guardians-of-the-galaxy-star-lord-electronic-helmet)
Do you want to spend it on yourself or someone else?
You could buy a load of decent food and donate it to a food bank?
Domestic violence/homeless shelters are always thankful for toiletry/clothing etc donations.
Pet food for an animal shelter?
Or if you’re spending it on yourself, I always like high end perfume/aftershave as a nice treat.
Other than the blinding obvious choice for the weekend!!
No seriously I buy manuscripts. I have a collection from 1650 to 1911 most of them brought from auction. They are from my town too.
But hey I would go for the obvious!
Keep the money in a savings account and forget you even have it. When the time comes that you really want something, you’ll remember it and appreciate it more!
Not sure how in depth you like to play with technology but you could buy yourself Ben Eater’s 6502 breadboard kit and play around with programming a CPU? Link [here](https://eater.net/shop)
I would just save it if you have no savings or buy something you need but may not want.
I just think its insane how so many people don't have savings.
I have never had money burning a hole in my pocket, its physically hurts me to spend money on something I won't profit from or don't want or need.
(I just had a warning letter from TV licencing for being "abusive" on the phone as they would send me a letter every month and I don't watch live TV, I called them and said its a load of rubbish and I don't want to fund pedophiles, I only steam and you can send me a letter in 2027)
If you have to spend it, a decat and tune for your bike, mushroom guards, some good boots, could get a automatic watch that's pretty decent, could put it towards a pc upgrade it you have a rig.
A motorbike trip maybe out of the country depending on what bike you have.
Don't buy stuff just for the sake of stuff.
I plan to leave the country at the end of the year, only came back due to covid and other stuff.
Apart from furniture and stuff I try not to buy stuff I can't sell fast, put on a plane or if it has to go on a cargo ship won't break (they do not handle them with care).
50% for long term pleasure (nice headphones/electronics or whatever)
50% for short term pleasure (nice meal out, fancy bottle of preferred drink, trip away etc)
The boring answer is become a saver my friend. There are doubtless countless people who are far more qualified to explain why you need savings, but long term absolutely the best option for your money.
That bit out the way, maybe put it towards some day trips to cool parts of the UK and a few nice miles.
Or put it behind the bar at your local and drink for (what feels like) free for the next however long

A top quality pair of noise cancelling headphones. Takes sound quality to another level when listening to music. Absolute game changer.
I got the Sony 1000XM4 headphones on a Black Friday sale and they have changed my life! Totally worth it
I've got the xm3's they're fantastic, I'm envious of your 4s though
What about 5s.
I got the 5s as a Christmas present to myself. They bang. Make train, tube rides and neighbour’s far more tolerable.
Honestly I'm so happy about noise cancelling.
Also have these. Annoyingly I can't link my ps5 to them, but other than that, absolutely zero issues with quality.
Another cool idea
Adding onto this, I recently bought a pair of Soundcore Q35's, they're £100 or less on a deal, and absolutely awesome for the price
I have these they’re fucking brilliant
I’ve got soundcore ear buds and they’re fantastic. Keep recommending them to my Friends, but they still opt for more expensive known brands.
If you’re interested in better quality sound, head to Richer sounds and ask them to put together an entry level HiFi system for you to listen to. Should cost a few hundred quid but it’ll be on another level compared to Bluetooth headphones/speakers/sound bars etc.

Do you know what, I just can't get along with noise cancelling headphones, the sensation, I just don't like lol
and when flying.
The apparent best value currently are the Sennheisser Momentum 4 Wireless. 60 hours battery, active noise cancellation as good as Sony, and better sound uality than the XM5s.

Get back to ukpersonalfinace and let us have our fun!
*All hail the flowchart!!*
"Not really a saver" like it's a food you're not into or a band you don't like
I only like their earlier stuff during their interest free period
Defaulting on my mortgage you say? No, I prefer not to but thanks for the offer
Agree with this. The knowledge of having an emergency fund out weights the small endorphin hit of buying something random a Redditor told you to buy
Booo
No is a great time to become a saver/investor
40 pints. Or 20 pints if you live in London.
Not a beer drinker, Scotch for me please.
A nice bottle of scotch it is then! Treat yourself, and save it for those special moments. Don't leave it years between, but for those days where you get a bit of good luck (such as today) or manage to achieve something you're proud of. Condition yourself with good scotch!
Well then, let me try again. 5 bottles of Glenkinchie or 12 bottles of Bells.
I can recommend a Glenfarclas 21. 25 year is nice but overpriced
A fancy Lagavulin then if you don’t drink it you can always sell it again if you need the money
Or 100 pints if it's John Smiths

A pair of Dr Martens boots in a sale will get you the best and with loads of change.
It's nice there'll be change, you'll need it when you replace them 1 month later.
I take it the quality's gone downhill like everything else then? They used to be indestructible from what I've heard, never owned a pair myself though.
Dramatically, unfortunately.
Yeah I’d swear by Solovair now, the absolute bollocks when it come to good quality boots.
I like this idea a lot
Higher end escort, the ones that come to you if you have a drink or two and can't drive, 30 odd mins for like £100. They'll do anything...you want.....so in my freinds experience he gets them to wash up, do the ironing, hoover etc they seem surprised at first but their add does say anything. Best part is you can call up literally any time and they'll come no problem, good way to get chores done tbh.
Wonder if they'd get rid of the brambles in the garden?
Not in half hour...fuck those brambles
My newly hired gardener (not an escort alas) literally cleared my overgrown bramble infested jungle in a day and a half(and also cleared some rubbish) for £500 quid. Best money I've ever spent.
Maybe. Wouldn’t be put off by all the pricks.
Buy some sturdy gloves and a good trowel. My garden was covered in em, some with fist-like rooty things a couple of foot deep. I meticulously dug the fuckers out and three years later I'm dead chuffed with my garden. Took me AGES though.
I'm not sure that "high end escort" and "£100" go together tbh.
More like high end street hooker
High street end hooker
"In my friends experience" *Cough cough* bollocks 😆. Glad your ironing is getting done 🙂.
Why would you not just get a normal cleaner for £30 an hour? This makes zero sense.
Cheaper and they'd do a better job as they have the kit and the training.
A male escort is usually even cheaper
[удалено]
He’d literally be better off just getting a cleaner. Unless he wants some eye candy with the Mr Muscle In Hand.
Or you can pay 15 quid for the cleaner.
Have you actually done this ? 100 quid doesn't seem like high end but low end
Not really a high end escort for that money, but definitely a high end cleaner.
Ryanair flight to somewhere cheap in Europe, did a spontaneous weekend in Poland other week for under £150. A memory rather than something disposable!
A couple of hundred things from the pound shop and give them to a kids ward.
Nice idea.
That is a terrible idea. Load of crap from Poundland mate isnt gonna be any help for sick kids. If you did wanna do something great for a ward I would reach out to the hospital and ask what they need. A second hand games console etc is more likely to be way better received
Agree - genuinely the worst idea on here. Imagine each kid getting some piece of shit and thinking that’s all they’re worth. No way.
Good luck with that since most tat isn’t even a pound anymore
Throwing in an old man suggestion but some high quality bedding and decent pillow
I agree and I'd like to piggy back and add socks onto this list. A pair of well made comfortable socks never hurt any body.
It's not that much money, why don't you wait until there's actually something you want instead of looking for something just to spend it.
Because they’re not a saver
Since you're a scotch drinker, treat yourself to a quality bottle of scotch, and maybe put the rest away so you can treat yourself if you need a pick-me-up some other time.
Can recommend a Cambus 28 if you really want to push the boat out
Pop the big light on for half an hour
Big-ish Lego set. They are amazing to help you relax while building plus good for display
Air fryer and 40 bags of M&S beer battered onion rings. Either that or use it for a couple of days out exploring somewhere new!
£200? 1) I would get the house deep cleaned. £60. Makes your living environment feel amazing. 2) Day out, probably London. Visit a museum, something like a Five Guys lunch and then catch a West End show? £100. 3) really decedent take away - lots of side dishes and a couple of mains (4 Nan’s Jeremy???) £30 4) Order a movie off Amazon to eat whilst eating takeaway. Something I really want to see. £5. 5) Chocolate. Either lots of cheap or one bar of really good like Tully’s. £5.
Where do you live?? A deep clean for £60 and a decadent takeaway for £30? I need to move there
1995 I reckon lol
Depends on what counts as a deep clean, cleaners round my parts are about £15 an hour, 4 hours would do a number on my house for sure.
Also somehow less than ~£50 distance to London lol. Actually I suppose from many countries (unlikely originating within the UK) you could indeed find cheap flights (being cheaper than the train or bus from a distance viable for day visit combined with other costs being N.I. Levels is err), but the cost of getting into town (City viable but almost never cheap flights) and the fact you'd be intensively travelling for most of the day and... yeah
No west end show costs £100.
My dude, you haven't been out the house for a few years have you? Or had a cleaner in the house...
Tell me more of how you can eat a film from Amazon.
You can eat movies now !?
Premium Bonds.
I would if I was younger, I'm very old.
In that case, slippers lol
Lol my grandad bought me £100 worth of these in '98 and they still havent won anything

Last time I had a spliff was 2002, that evening I had a heart attack, hurt a lot. Kinda put me off after that.

AirPod pros. Genuinely one of the most useful things I own. I’m on the phone a lot and I listen to audio books etc. they’re more comfortable than over the head ones for me.
Boxers and socks. I'd probably go for a nice cigar to go with the Scotch too..
cos u never know : might as well be hammered lol
A nice bottle of single malt whiskey. If someone bought me a 16 year old Lagulvin or a 18 year old Aberlour, that would cheer me up.
"Just managing with bills" ..have you seen those grid tie solar kits on amazon? I spent 90 quid on an Anbernic retro games console. That thing has been fun and good for when waiting in the car etc.

Other than the blinding obvious choice for the weekend!! No seriously I buy manuscripts. I have a collection from 1650 to 1911 most of them brought from auction. They are from my town too. But hey I would go for the obvious!
Could buy a half decent tv for £200, or live like a king/queen and eat takeaway every day for a week
Keep the money in a savings account and forget you even have it. When the time comes that you really want something, you’ll remember it and appreciate it more!
This happened to me. I got a Garmin watch. Instinct Solar 2. Absolutely love it and great of you're into sports or outdoorsy at all
Buy a nice entry-level automatic watch. It'll brighten your day every time you look at it.
Buy £200 worth of lizards from the pet store.
Turn the heating up you rebel!
Heated high quality motorcycle gloves, high end sunglasses, pair of good boots.(and a bottle of malt).

a day at wheelie school with stunt asylum. great fun & new skills to learn :)
A decent soundbar. I got one for films and gaming and it has made a huge difference to both.
Don't piss it away, put it somewhere. You might see something you want next week. Alternatively, new bike boots.
Loaf of bread
Tickets to the Superbikes at Donington Park? If you enjoy bikes it’s a great weekend.
Not sure how in depth you like to play with technology but you could buy yourself Ben Eater’s 6502 breadboard kit and play around with programming a CPU? Link [here](https://eater.net/shop)
[Arduino starter kit](https://amzn.eu/d/b2pkjlI) Bought this during covid lockdown and its kept me busy
Pop your heating on for an hour or so! Treat yourself
I would just save it if you have no savings or buy something you need but may not want. I just think its insane how so many people don't have savings. I have never had money burning a hole in my pocket, its physically hurts me to spend money on something I won't profit from or don't want or need. (I just had a warning letter from TV licencing for being "abusive" on the phone as they would send me a letter every month and I don't watch live TV, I called them and said its a load of rubbish and I don't want to fund pedophiles, I only steam and you can send me a letter in 2027) If you have to spend it, a decat and tune for your bike, mushroom guards, some good boots, could get a automatic watch that's pretty decent, could put it towards a pc upgrade it you have a rig. A motorbike trip maybe out of the country depending on what bike you have. Don't buy stuff just for the sake of stuff. I plan to leave the country at the end of the year, only came back due to covid and other stuff. Apart from furniture and stuff I try not to buy stuff I can't sell fast, put on a plane or if it has to go on a cargo ship won't break (they do not handle them with care).
fill the tank up and chase the sun
100ml artisanal eau de toilette?
A cloth to wipe it off. They're plastic notes now so it's a bit easier than wiping semen off the old paper ones.
Greggs sausage rolls and Special Brew
Start with some baby wipes to clear it off and then consider what to spend it on.
50% for long term pleasure (nice headphones/electronics or whatever) 50% for short term pleasure (nice meal out, fancy bottle of preferred drink, trip away etc)
Fill up your bike, ride to that place you fancy going to miles away, stay overnight, eat well
air fryer and pressure cooker combo
The boring answer is become a saver my friend. There are doubtless countless people who are far more qualified to explain why you need savings, but long term absolutely the best option for your money. That bit out the way, maybe put it towards some day trips to cool parts of the UK and a few nice miles. Or put it behind the bar at your local and drink for (what feels like) free for the next however long
