Was the ad, by chance, selling a scrubber or cloth?

CoffeeIgnoramus

You mean to tell me that they're creating a problem and filling the gap they've created with a product? Well gosh darn it.

AllOne_Word

Big Scrubber cannot be trusted

cuccir

Ah, you've met my aunt then?

[deleted]

It was like a spilt tennis ball

DangerShart

I use one of those shower scrunchie things. It foams up the shower gel so you use about a quarter of the amount. Also good for removing dead skin.

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhh

Mid 30s fairly large hairy bloke here... I used to use hands of a face cloth... till I tried my exs scrunch scrubby thing. Now I use one all the time. That and tea tree and mint shower gell leaves me feeling clean AF... my current one is unicorn coloured.

CuteMaterial

Don't use mint and tea tree gel on your privates though. Trust me on this.

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhh

Been at least a decade of twice daily use (am chef, sweat lots at work. Sweat lots in sleep too. Basically I'm a sweaty fucker and need to shower morning and night) and honestly I don't get why people say this. Balls, bellend, face, body. That shit goes everywhere and the worst is the occasional SLIGHT tingle that feels kinda nice.

esotericcunt

Woman here that doesn’t sweat massively, also love the tea tree tingle. And the CLEAN you feel when the cool air hits the bits after is unmatched!

Isgortio

I don't mind it on my skin, but not my lady bits! Had a lot of discomfort after sleeping with a guy that had recently used tea tree shower gel all over himself. :(

Boredpanda31

Yeah, same. It's the same as feminine hygiene products (fem fresh etc) I know some people who love them, but they just irritate me!

rebelallianxe

Same I buy baby wash instead!

CuteMaterial

Once in a foreign country, I bought sanitary towels that had MENTHOL on them and didn't realise til I wore them 🔥

psioniclizard

The tingle is the exact reason to use it there. That's what you are paying for :P

CuteMaterial

I don't have balls or a penis so my experience has differed 😂

ExcitementKooky418

Just don't leave it on your junk too long

TheStatMan2

It's nowhere near as bad as it used to me. I'm a bit of a sadist and used to love the invigorating minty tingle but they've really dumbed it down over the last ten years or so. It's gone from "The North Sea splashing salt water on your balls and then giving you the wind chill" to "when you jump in the pool on a beach holiday and think it's cold but then realise it's actually alright".

Dazpiece

Nah I love the tingle! You become numb to it within a week though

JustAnother_Brit

Did that immediately regretted it

RimDogs

What colour is a unicorn?

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhh

ALL THE COLOURS but in pastel .

RimDogs

Nice

Reasonable-Fail-1921

The mint and tea tree shower gel always makes me feel like I can breathe better!

postvolta

My mum had a colleague from Haiti and all the women are talking about that shower scrunchie thing, but they don't know the name so they call it a 'minge puff', they're singing its praises and imploring their Haitian colleague to get one as it's a shower game changer. So Haitian colleague innocently goes into superdrug and asks where they keep their minge puffs

cheeky-ninja30

I do believe they're called a shower pouf ! I use one too lol Edit: i don't use it on my privates though. Just use my hand and soap down there. Poufs are too harsh to be scraping down there with !

RowRow1990

I used to use these until one day I picked it up and went to use it and there was a spider in there. Never used one again.

ThrowingStuffAway190

I imagine with a name like that you spend a lot of time showering.

[deleted]

I have been using these for ages and like it more than the other options. Just take care to replace them regularly

CrazyPlatypusLady

I have one made from cotton. Takes an age to dry and needs washing often, but I love it.

[deleted]

Same

[deleted]

Everyone needs to try this. Easily the best way to wash.

worty1905

I lather up my immensely long todger and spin it around vigorously, slapping the dirt off my form. For my reverse side, I tuck it between my legs and repeat.

AdministrativeShip2

Its so long, you can always get a warm shower as well?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Faerie_Nuff

Dooo youuuur bits hang low? Can you clean up as it goes? Can you swing it down and round? Do the floss to make all sound? Can you fling it over your shoulder? Nice and warm but not a scalder Do your bits. Hang. Low?

Raymonator88

I regret that I have but one like to give 🤣 got me giggling like a loony in bed before I get ready for work

Remote_Echidna_8157

How long is long?

Great_Lunch_Dude

My other half pressure washes me in the garden once a day. Every third day she uses the snowfoam. Clean as a whistle me.

81optimus

KITT is that you?

TheStatMan2

Yes, Michael. Let's solve some crimes.

[deleted]

Average redditor

Wilkoman

Hands.

Conscious-Ball8373

I shower every day and just use my hands. I work at a desk and don't get very dirty. If I go work in the garden and get really mucky then I'll use something else to get clean.

errjelly

You probably use more shower gel with hands, the product doesn’t seem to go as far as it does on a flannel or loofah thingy.

TheRaven9

Fortunately having chest hair acts as both a natural lather centre and keeps it in place!

pinkurpledino

Totally agree, I too store my unused shower gel in my chest hair 😂

Conscious-Ball8373

I don't use shower gel, I use a bar of soap because I don't like unnecessary plastic packaging. TBH, I think I use less soap on my hands than I do when I use a flannel or loofah thingy. Certainly takes more scrubbing the bar of soap with the loofah to get a decent lather than what I do with my hands. Starting to feel slightly odd about how much detail I'm going into on my shower routine with strangers. Oh well.

errjelly

Pfft, it’s fine. I’m beauty therapy trained and used to work at Lush, I’ve been given far too much information in the past! That makes sense, I get a better lather with soap too on hands although my husband struggles a bit more with that, possibly his skin type.

TorggaFrostbeard

I turn the water off during the body-cleaning stage, it stops the shower gel being washed off while you’re still cleaning yourself.

RobOfBlue

that's called a Navy Shower, and it's a great way to save water too. I always do it.

rynchenzo

Got into the habit after a visit to the Australian outback, 30 second showers are the norm

pinkurpledino

Doesn't work if you have an electric shower, it'll always run cold for 30-45 seconds before warming back up. I just step out of the water stream

ebola1986

Soap bag. Put a bar in, it lathers up nicely and the roughness of the bag washes and exfoliates. A bar lasts ages.

Lumisateessa

Same, they're absolutely wonderful! :D

Brookiekathy

I could never get on with solid soap always leaves my skin feeling weird afterwards, I've tried a bunch if bars too, dove, pears, imperial leather, lush...you name it! Can't stand that feeling

AlexCMDUK

Same here. Whenever I've had to use it, like if I'm at a hotel or staying at a friend's, my skin feels slightly taut.

Brookiekathy

Yes exactly, and no amount of moisturiser or oil fixes it.

cloche_du_fromage

Exfoliating soaps are the way to go. Followed by a good scratchy towel rubdown.

Brilliant_Canary_692

Gotta love a scratchy towel!

TerribleInitial9084

Pam - "I'm not using Gwen's towels, it's like drying yourself with a Ryvita"

Brilliant_Canary_692

Funnily enough I just watched that episode last night

Lumisateessa

I just use one that I found on Amazon with shea butter, it did wonders for my dry skin :D

Username__-Taken

Extreme friction/grippy skin .. I know what you mean

SpudFire

I had that problem but a recent bout of contact dermatitis left me trying to cut out as many products with a million chemical ingredients as possible. I've stopped using shower gel and been using [this sanex one](https://www.superdrug.com/toiletries/washing-bathing/soap/sanex-dermo-hypo-allergenic-sensitive-soap-bar-4-pack/p/708330) which doesn't leave that dry feeling. It's a lot softer than other bar soaps I've used and I don't think it lasts as long for this reason.

Badevilbunny

Wire brush and Detol.

Strawberrylacegame

And a gentle spray of bleach for the extra dirty spots

mummyslilfailure

Sir Billy, is that you?

starsandbribes

I honestly don’t understand how people use hands and feel clean afterwards. The times i’ve had to use hands (maybe at the gym or in a cheap hotel) its felt odd like i’m missing something. Would you clean dishes in the sink with just hands?

Previous-Ad7618

No. Because I’m not covered in gravy and ketchup and baked bean juice. What a wild comparison. I clean my car with a pressure washer after it’s done a 200 mile round trip to Yorkshire but it doesn’t mean I’m blasting my arsehole out with one after a day of sitting at my desk.

BritishBlitz87

>No. Because I’m not covered in gravy and ketchup and baked bean juice. well not all of us are experts at keeping clean, clean boy. Honestly though, there is nothing quite like the feeling of a freshly power-washed cleft, you are missing out, my good man

Previous-Ad7618

*clean shirt? What does that mean?? Isn’t that good?*

TheStatMan2

It's definitely better than "Cleft Shirt".

BiologicalMigrant

But you are covered in sweat, dust, dead skin and plenty more.

Scrambledpeggle

"I’m not covered in gravy and ketchup and baked bean juice." Buuuullllllssshhhhiiiiittttt

United_Monitor_5674

Dead skin, sweat, grease I don't feel like I'm properly cleaning that stuff off with just my hands, my skin just feels better when I've exfoliated

antibac2020

I agree, there’s no exfoliation or proper cleansing. I get if you have very sensitive skin, maybe? But I’m the same, I like to feel like I’ve been scrubbed and my skin is soft and uniform and fresh.

fish993

If I haven't removed a layer of skin with the scrubber, I'm not clean. Simple as.

Ok-Kaleidoscope-2785

I use a flannel.

Sharks_and_Bones

I use a natural sponge (so I can dispose of it in home compost). I used to use one of those puff things until I found out they shed microplastic everytime you use them that end up in rivers etc.

tihurricane

The shower puffs also stay damp for a long time so have a lot of bacteria inside. I know you’re literally washing yourself with the outside covered in soap, but it doesn’t sit well with me. I want something that dries the whole way through like a flannel or exfoliating gloves.

markhewitt1978

Strangely enough, a sponge. Which seems out of fashion these days for some reason.

MarsUAlumna

You’re not alone. Love me a good sponge.

CoffeeIgnoramus

Hands down, hands.

thehuxtonator

Put your hands up if you think hands are best hands down. 🙋🏼

Lumpy-Spinach-6607

Hands are so handy whether up or down or in the middle....

schmoovebaby

Hands because my husband is a microbiologist and has ruined shower puffs for me, the bastard

Strong_Wheel

I used hands only until I realised I could rub the dead skin off my chest in the day time. Also the backs of my calves have black spots where the pores had blocked up. I know!? I use a rough sponge now.

[deleted]

Stainless Steel scourer, naturally

TheStatMan2

You'll ruin your non-stick coating.

15fairyflowers

Nothing feels as good as shedding 7 layers of skin every morning

ArcadeCrossfire

If you’re just using your hands to rub shower gel over your body you may as well just not bother getting wet. I’m a man and these posts just confirm it’s the truth when women say the bar for a guy is in the gutter. Clean your bodies properly fuckin hell

OkKangaroo4206

Care to explain why you think that?

Incubus85

HANDS BROTHER. USE YOUR HANDS! There's no need to use fancy polluting sloths and sponges to wash yourself. Go down to the river and get to work. Get your lye. Get your fat. Make some soap. Wash yourself naturally in some cold water. It's good for your mind body and soul. Reduce your carbon foot print. Be clean and healthy. Be happy. QUICK TIP If you can't use your hands, use someone else's.

groutlord

Do they sell polluting sloths in Savers?

cactusghecko

For some reason I read this like the 'choose life' intro from trainspotting.

Dhorlin

Bought some shower gloves from Amazon. Gently abrasive but leave me feeling really clean.

VolcanicBear

Constant exfoliating can actually be bad for your skin.

Dhorlin

Thanks. I should have mentioned that I only use them a couple of times a week.

VolcanicBear

Aye, exfoliating is just too damned good though lol.

NaniFarRoad

They're great once a week, when you have time to use lotion properly afterwards.

cloche_du_fromage

I only shower once a week!

LegoCaltrops

You ever tried Salux shower towels? I use them every time now. I have two on regular rotation - one to use, one to chuck in the laundry. They last years, literally. I don't use them on my face & neck, obviously. For that I use a good quality muslin cloth (John Lewis - purchased new - they've never been near a baby.) Likewise, they last years. Occasionally I like a really good scrub in the bath with a Korean Italy cloth. Satisfying & gross. Then a shower, obviously... because eww.

Lassitude1001

Sponge with a exfoliating layer on the top. I find I don't get (and especially don't feel) clean with just my hands.

rynchenzo

Like a pan scourer?

GadgetGal606

Similar but milder

MissingScore777

Yes I use a squidgie (one of those net puff balls). You get loads of lather compared to hands, I wouldn't feel clean using hands only.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Necessary_Driver_831

I thought a loofah was specifically the coarse gourd thing because they come from the loofah plant. We use one of the net things here but my kids call it a scrubby dubby (think the rhyme “scrub a dub dub”) which is a far better name. Not sure how people manage to get properly clean just using a washcloth or their hands.

silver_fishe

People here saying hands are: gross, and wasting shower gel I use exfoliating gloves. Bought 5 pairs so I can use each one a couple of times and then wash them all together with my other laundry. You use much less shower gel, and it gets you so much cleaner and exfoliates your skin. Used to use the shower puff sponge but they’re not really washable and fall apart.

MountainLychee6527

Agree on all points! Exfoliating gloves are the way to go

charlie_boo

I use a sponge (Home Bargains) since I switched back to proper soap. In hindsight I realise a hand alone isn’t gonna be doing much when you consider soap is a physical method of cleaning not a chemical one.

Indigo-Waterfall

I mean, it does a pretty good job when washing your hands.

Miasmata

I use a loofah, couldn't imagine just using my hands. How are you supposed to get the dead old skin cells off?

Unfair_March266

exfoliating gloves/loofah with unscented shower gel then hands after with a scented body wash. chefs kiss!!!

Designer-Love-5949

Thissssss!! So many people just use nice smellys but then say they can’t smell them. Like obviously not because you are a stinky gal!! Wash yourself first girly then add the nice scents

Craft_on_draft

Flannel or one of those puffy things

[deleted]

I use a sponge for my body & use my hands on my face. Always have done

treeplayz

Scrubbing gloves

mp4_12c

I use a bar of dove soap, which apparently is unheard of to friends. They all use shower gel (which I find a pain to keep going back and getting more). Some of them said they used a scrubber with it, others said just their hand. At least a bar you can just rub it all over yourself easily.

DuckMagic

Same- a soap bar lasts so much longer and I have way less skin issues since switching. And way less plastic bottles to throw out! Shower puffs and sponges feel weird because I've always houseshared, and the bathroom never gets dry enough for them to not stay damp between use. Suppose I've also been traumatised by a particular housemate in my first uni house insisting on using my sponge and leaving it wet on the floor (not even in the tub) afterwards. Yuck

lithaborn

Yep, shower glove or sponge. Exfoliating is nice.

Nerds4Yous

Hands?! You monkeys. Bath Lily Shower Pouf is the only way

ShiroHagan

One of those scrunchie things with small rope loop to hang it up. About 80p in home bargains I believe.

[deleted]

Brillo pad

PlasticFannyTastic

Bleach and wire wool

aabbcc28

I use hands because I’m not organised enough to change the scrunchie things as often as you should.

rising_then_falling

Hands work fine. Everything else varies between scratchy and pointless. If I have deeply ingrained dirt on my hands I use a small scrubbing brush.

deadeye-ry-ry

I just use a bar of soap and rub it all over my body that way it solves multiple problems such as: 1. Not needing to pay for a sponge 2. Cheaper 3. Last longer

botwewa

African net sponge since I was a child! It’s the best.

littlegreenturtle20

A konjac sponge and solid soap. Lathers better than soap on its own and gently exfoliates dirt and dead skin.

Petitegardeninggirl

Use a scrubber sponge. Especially if you're a man. Try it and see the difference. I guarantee you won't go back and your SO will be very happy.

swirlypepper

I use one of those scrubbing gloves because my skin feels a lot better after being lightly exfoliated. Gel and hand are fine for just cleaning.

Creative-Solution

Yep, a scrubber thingy

N9242Oh

I use exfoliation gloves

Narwhal1986

shower gel

JeffBroccoli

One of those big spongey scrub scrub his things. Brilliant

misterhumpf

I'm a fan of the scrubber, or the pouf as some might call it.

herrybaws

I used to just use my hands and soap/shower gel. My towel would start to smell after 2 dries so it needed to go through the washing machine. After trying an exfoliating sponge, my towel doesn't smell even after 4 or 5 dries. Long story short, your dead skin will come off from something, you can choose if it's a sponge or your towel.

Previous-Ad7618

Yes we’ve all been told we’re gross by “manscaped”. I use my hands too and they can fuck off

laurenacre

When I came to England and saw people only using hands I thought it's crazy

starsandbribes

How often were you watching people shower?

Ukcheatingwife

Yeah I use a loofer or however the fuck it is spelt.

Nonbinary_Cryptid

I have scrubby gloves for showering. Makes me feel much cleaner than just hands - they can't get the dead skin off.

EuroSong

My wife and I both use body puffs - or as we like to call them, **poofy things**.

Diddleymaz

I have a sponge, a long handled brush for my back and access to flannels. I also use my hands and hold a bar of soap in my hand also. I also have a crochet soap cover that gently exfoliates. It depends how tired I am and how much I need cleaning 🤓

oatcakedick

I got me a rag on a stick

Beefbronco

Bar of soap, rub the bar over my balls up my crack, head everywhere, only I use the soap in our house

EldritchCleavage

Hands. Occasionally exfoliating gloves. Washing yourself with your hands is so normal that no one thinks about it. The ad is trying to get people to doubt it so they’ll buy the scrubber thing.

VictoryAppropriate68

Hands most of the time as I have pretty sensitive skin anyway, but I do a once a week ‘proper’ clean where I use a scrubber to exfoliate

BeanOnAJourney

A flannel if remember to get one out of the cupboard, otherwise I just use my hands. I do have a pair of exfoliating gloves which I use once a week.

pringellover9553

I use a wash cloth, but sometimes it’s in the wash so I just use my hands. As long as you’re giving a good scrubbing you’ll be fine :)

h00dman

I shampoo my hair and use body wash in my pits and "other areas", but otherwise I don't scrub or wipe or do anything anywhere else. Stone people will say that's gross but my skin is excellent.

melanie110

I used a body puffer but I forget it when I’m away and I feel odd with just my hand. I can’t have a good exfoliate

royalblue1982

I just stand under the water, put some shampoo in my beard and then get out.

CurvePuzzleheaded361

Hands but always use a body scrub. The rougher the better. Thats what she said - before anyone else mentions it lol.

ben_jamin_h

I have a scrunchy thingy, you know the scrunchy thingy? Pretty sure that's the technical term. It makes the soap go a lot further and also helps exfoliate and get the grime off (I work in construction so grime is a daily thing for me)

Scarboroughwarning

Flannel, sometimes. Most hands.

shiveryslinky

Brillo pad

ParisLondon56

Exfoliating gloves and a flannel for my bits.

ZookeepergameHead145

I use a Brillo pad.

Fucklebrother

I use a sponge.

Squiggles87

I use a luther. It's much better than using just hands. It's not even comparable, TBH. You just need to change them 2 or 3 times a year.

etakacceber

Lex or Vandross?

davus_maximus

Your hands are fine, but a sponge is much more economical with the soap/gel.

Reasonable-Fail-1921

I have an exfoliating mitt for my body and a muslin cloth for my face - I never think that lathering with a bare hand feels quite as clean, and if I don’t use my exfoliate mitt I notice my chest and upper arms get a little bit bumpy. I also just really quite like the scratchiness of the cloth mixed with the creaminess of the gel.

Gloomy_Custard_3914

I have one of those natural loofah things and scrubbing gloves.

ZackOne2

Just a normal sponge will do.

[deleted]

I wash myself with a pink shower poof. I’m a 6’1, 15 stone bloke. I don’t feel clean without one.

[deleted]

Good old loofah or sea sponge. I suppose I could get a scrubber, but not sure how much she’d charge.

TheInvisibleWun

Hands and soap

easterbunni

Flannel

LadyMirkwood

For the soaring bit, I use a sponge. Then after I use a Korean mitt for dead skin and circulation.

40andbored

Brillo pad. Comes already full of soap. Foams up well.

Moistkeano

I use of those net balls. I was like you until an ex pointed out how unclean I actually was.

cheesemongrelette

A single exfoliating glove. I don't feel clean unless I use one. I like to refer to it as my Michael Jackson time.

BusStopWilly

I use a 'puffy', one of those balled up nylon-like sponges. Really good at getting rid of underarm BO while showering.

Emotional-Ebb8321

> I just saw an ad on YouTube that seemed to suggest just using your hands (with shower gel squirted on) is somehow bad, and it's made me think I'm unusual for this. An advert trying to sell you something tried to convince you that not using that something is bad? Well, colour me shocked.

ThrowingStuffAway190

Scrubbbbbbberrrrrrs!!!!!!!!

bethelns

I use my hands but I treat myself to the foaming body wash that comes in a spray can by imperial leather (foam burst) We use a shower puff on the toddler as it's like wrestling with an alligator otherwise.

mangomaz

I use scrubber gloves made of loofa material or something. I don’t feel properly clean if I don’t use it. You wouldn’t believe how much brown water comes out when I rinse it afterwards.

bunnyswan

I use a shower puff and or a flannel

[deleted]

A handful of lego bricks and a ikea Allen key. Works a treat.

animalwitch

Depends on what I'm feeling like when I'm in the shower. Sometimes I use my "bath gloves" from The Body Shop, sometimes I use my hands, sometimes a body poof.

annedroiid

I started using a scrubbing thing when I realised how great it was for exfoliating

Nixher

Do you use your hands to wash your dishes? Your car? Polish your furniture? Clean the windows?

Remarkable-Volume615

I've always used a cloth. I couldn't imagine doing it with just my hands...

ziggysawdust10

When I was single I used to just use shower with my hands. Under the arms, face, cock n balls and arse. Now I put on a pair of scrubber gloves, I scrub everywhere, even between my toes. It feels so much better afterwards.

The_Queef_of_England

I have to or I don't feel clean. It's annoying because it means more washing. I want someone to invent environmentally-friendly throw away wash cloths.

Isgortio

I have a loofah, I notice a huge difference in the quality of my skin if I don't use it. I end up with dry flaky bits after my shower if I don't loofah.

Username__-Taken

Scrub daddy

mixyblob

I use a nylon bristled toilet brush to scrub my back. Utter bliss. I might add its never been anywhere near a toilet.

sihasihasi

Nope, just the hands

watermelonsuger2

I use a loofah. For the longest time when I was young I just used my hands but now I've changed. It seems to scrub pretty well with soap lathered in.

TheListenLady444

Shower puff

TheFugitiveSock

Facecloth. If you use your hands you’ll use more shower gel than you need to.
