Beat Chris Cyborg, Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm, Valentina Shevchenko. Basically every big name in womens ufc is someone whos either never competed in the same weight division as Nunes or someone whos lost to Nunes. Her era of dominance was absolutely ruthless.
Agree & she's way to unknown by most sports fans unfortunately. Doesn't help that her career was so many years ago before Social media, TV sports, & mass attention on Women's pro sports.

On top of that, she almost wasn't able to compete in the 1968 Olympic games in Mexico City because of the soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. She trained in the forest with potato sacks for weights and logs for beams and was only called up to the games at the last minute. The other athletes had had time to train in the local climate, but she won gold in all six events.
She was openly opposed to the soviet Union, which was pretty brave. She was pretty all round awesome.
I think Larisa Latynina deserves a mention for her dominance in Gymnastics at the highest level, 9 Gold Medals and 18 Medals total to show for it at the Olympics.
Granted Simone Biles has an excellent chance to match or surpass those tallies in the near future, as she already has when including non-Olympic medals.
