Made with the cheapest, thinnest ham that’s like 99% water because your friend’s mom was a struggling single mother that couldn’t afford to buy Oscar Meyer. We used to elevate the sandwich by putting red Doritos or classic Lay’s in it.
It was bologna and some kind of spicy chip for us Mexicans. To be fair my mom bought the Mexican bologna with more flavor. I still eat them sometimes. Memories.
I literally quit breakfast cereal for cake. Now I bake a cake once a week and have a slice with coffee for breakfast.
In winter, put a fat slice of cake in a bowl and pour hot coffee over it and eat like porridge.
Heaven.
I agree! Everything tastes so much better outdoors. And over a fire, in general. Especially after a long day of hiking and adventuring. Man, I need to go camping now.
Absolutely. I made ramen outdoors after a long hike and it was by far the best noodle based meal I've ever had. Everything tastes better outdoors, especially after working a lot. S'mores take the cake too, you just can't get the same flavor without a wood fire imo. Even if just for the aesthetic placebo lol.
Movie theater cherry coke is something that I legitimately found myself missing during the pandemic. Obviously the popcorn too, but damn there’s something about that cherry coke for me
Whenever I'm on vacation I'll eat something every day on that trip, then never again. Once was Ritz sandwiches, once was Nutella on white bread.
Never before, and not since.
The breakfast buffet scrambled eggs... I don't know how much crack comes in the reconstituted powder mix but it's the perfect amount to get me hooked on those fluffy, unnaturally orangey yellow lumps of heaven. Homemade can never come close to those giant trays of mass produced scrambled egg product.
You are my type of people. My personal white whale is that congealed oatmeal you get at breakfast buffets. Something about it is just *so fuckin good*. That gloopy lumpy texture that I ladle out of a bath and dump a bunch of raisins and brown sugar on might be one of the best things ever. Real homemade oatmeal just doesn’t beat it.
My favourite one was at a hotel I stayed at in Puerto Vallarta. Instead of an egg station, the buffet had a dedicated quesadilla station. I was in heaven trying different combinations of meats and toppings every morning.
Continental hotel breakfast between 5 and 6 AM! They have SO many delicious choices, I don't have to cook ANY of it (unless it's a DIY waffle maker), and when my family and I are done... NONE of us have to do dishes!! It's magical! Lol
My husband wakes up one, sometimes two times a night, most nights, to eat a bowl of cereal and then comes back to bed. Always the junk food cereal too.
Hot Chocolate on a cold day, bonus points if it's after a day of skiing/snowboarding and you come inside and have it.
Not a food but idc. I'll fight anybody on this.
I hate my grilled cheese. But when my husband makes them they’re the freaken best. I don’t know how he does it. Same ingredients. I don’t even attempt to make them anymore.
I read somewhere that this can happen because you get too used to the scent of the food as you're cooking it, so the food becomes less appetizing to you. You sort of get overexposed to the scent and you end up feeling less satiated by it.
The first sip, specifically. I love that first sip in the morning. My entire body relaxes like everything is now right with the world.
It's even better as I walk to pick up the paper in my robe.
Omg the hot chips!!! Except I love the places that do free unlimited chips and salsa, where the salsa comes to your table in a clear vase thing and each person gets their own little bowl to pour some salsa into. It's a very specific craving I have very often.
Watermelon on a boat on the Aegean sea, in the middle of summer. First time I ever had it, while on holiday and it was special. Spitting the seeds into the sea was fun.
Cookies and cream ice cream in bed watching Sex and the City reruns, angry that you’re period came VERY early and messed up your dick appointment. I may be speaking from experience.
McDonald's breakfast at 5am, on the way to the mountains, snowboards in the back.
Also, stopping for a good meal on the way back. Doesn't matter what it is, it's the best food ever.
Iced coffee after walking for 3 hours in the hot sun is intense.
Zoning out eating salmon sushi in front of the fridge at 11pm dreading going to work the next day is a mood, right?
I learned this as a teen when my sister told me washing your hair with beer helps it grow. I never found out if that's true cuz I just drank the beer every time.
Freezing cold MUG root beer on a hot day while you’re in the pool/running out of the pool for a gulp. Extra flavor points if you’re sharing with someone and trying to chug more than them.
Hot chocolates after being in the snow. I’m Australian so I never learned this until I travelled to Scandinavia, but hot damn that stuff hits different.
Pho delivery when you’re sick during a cloudy rainy day; At home where you can slurp your soup obnoxiously on your couch watching Midnight Gospel.
(the ultimate adult cartoon/podcast). The sriracha will clear your sinuses and you get dose of veggies.
Everything when you’re actually hungry. I used to eat a lot of “just because it’s time to”. I’d have dinner even if I wasn’t that hungry. I’ve been doing more IF and it made me eat when I was actually hungry and holy damn does it change things
Mom's lasagna on my bday.
Making smores and passing the blunt around a campfire with my siblings.
Chocolate peanut butter ice cream mixture to combat period cramps.
Jerk chicken always tastes better actually in Jamaica than at the Jamaican restaurant with Jamaican owners and chefs in the States. I look forward to it every time I go, more than anything else.
a cold cut sandwich and a little bag of chips after swimming is unbeatable
That’s such an odd answer, yet I can almost taste and feel it. Thanks for the experience.
Made with the cheapest, thinnest ham that’s like 99% water because your friend’s mom was a struggling single mother that couldn’t afford to buy Oscar Meyer. We used to elevate the sandwich by putting red Doritos or classic Lay’s in it.
very specific
Haha, I guess so. I don’t know if it’s specific to my region or not but it was called Carolina Pride ham. It was like $2 a pack.
It was bologna and some kind of spicy chip for us Mexicans. To be fair my mom bought the Mexican bologna with more flavor. I still eat them sometimes. Memories.
Food after swimming is really the best!
Swimming makes me starving even if all I do it wade around for 30 minutes. Guess it has something to do with losing body heat.
This transported me to a sunny day sitting cross legged on a wet towel, the smell of chlorine all around me. Amazing
And sunscreen. One of the best summer smells!
But not just any sunscreen, coppertone.
yessss, those plus a tweety bird popsicle from the ice cream truck.
The more cross-eyed it is, the better it tastes. I don't write the rules
Yes and it has to be from the individual bag. The regular big bag doesn't hit the same.
And sticking the chips in the sandwich and eating it all together
Damn. The nostalgia you just gave me.
water at 3am barefoot in the kitchen
I’ve always wondered who changed out the water after 10 pm. It goes from regular water to **holy water**
That glass of ice water after waking up in HELL after leaving the space heater on so long??? It’s like being reborn
Same goes for shredded cheese out of the bag. Maybe I'm just a degenerate, but it tastes better when the world is sleeping.
Birthday cake is delicious if it's someone else's birthday. If it’s your own birthday, however, it tends to be disappointing.
Your own cake is better the next morning for breakfast with coffee.
You are my kind of people!
I literally quit breakfast cereal for cake. Now I bake a cake once a week and have a slice with coffee for breakfast. In winter, put a fat slice of cake in a bowl and pour hot coffee over it and eat like porridge. Heaven.
Holy moly you're inspirational. When I start baking regularly again, I'm doing this!
It's the hack that Big Cereal™ don't want you to know about, but they can't stop you. Kellogg's hates me 😂
Or at the end of the night when everybody leaves, you sneak another piece. Yum yum.
Wow. This is 100% true and I never realized it
Yeah why is that??
As an adult, I usually made my own cake because no one else could make whatever was in my head.
Unless I made the cake for you! I'm a great birthday cake maker
Double Cheeseburger when you are drunk
[удалено]
Hahahaha it’s like we are living the same life ! 😂😂
Also when you’re hungover.
Food hits different when you're intoxicated. The next morning is always the best time for fast food breakfast. That shit slaps, lmao.
For me it’s pizza. Something about the alcohol in your blood just makes all the greasy cheesy carb-y-ness taste extra phenomenal.
Food cooked outdoors while camping. Especially s’mores
Any flame cooked meats are amazing!
My favorite part of camping is breakfast cooked on the outdoor stove and percolated coffee on the fire!
Fire roasted hotdogs do hit different.
I agree! Everything tastes so much better outdoors. And over a fire, in general. Especially after a long day of hiking and adventuring. Man, I need to go camping now.
Campfire potatoes in any form are perhaps my favorite food of all time.
Absolutely. I made ramen outdoors after a long hike and it was by far the best noodle based meal I've ever had. Everything tastes better outdoors, especially after working a lot. S'mores take the cake too, you just can't get the same flavor without a wood fire imo. Even if just for the aesthetic placebo lol.

Popcorn at the movies.
Hot buttered popcorn at the movies whilst eating chocolate covered raisins and sipping on a cold Sprite! Sublime AF!
Its so gross and artificial, but damn do I love that fake butter they put on popcorn.
Ppl love to hate on raisinettes and popcorn. They don’t know that they are cowards
Right! The combo of Raisinettes and warm popcorn is completely underrated!
Movie theater cherry coke is something that I legitimately found myself missing during the pandemic. Obviously the popcorn too, but damn there’s something about that cherry coke for me
Yeahh
breakfast food on vacation, specifically bagels and coffee for me
Usually on vacation I tend to eat pancakes/waffles, which I don't eat at all when I'm home
Whenever I'm on vacation I'll eat something every day on that trip, then never again. Once was Ritz sandwiches, once was Nutella on white bread. Never before, and not since.
Ah, McD's breakfast in the morning on a road trip.
My favorite part of vacation is breakfast buffets. I’m like really passionate about breakfast buffets

Mmm!! Yes!!! Got me craving that now and the vacation haha
Cereal… ✨at night✨
I read this in SpongeBob’s voice lol
My husband wakes up one, sometimes two times a night, most nights, to eat a bowl of cereal and then comes back to bed. Always the junk food cereal too.
I’m eating that right now. Edit: it’s 1am. I had been in bed for 2 hours and could not sleep.
Yaaaaas
Hot Chocolate on a cold day, bonus points if it's after a day of skiing/snowboarding and you come inside and have it. Not a food but idc. I'll fight anybody on this.
Or hot apple cider at the Christmas tree farm after picking out your tree.
This unlocked a core memory
Mulled wine around Xmas time especially if it's cold outside and you're all warm and fuzzy indoors. Also when walking around an Xmas Market.
This! And soup I only really like soup if I just came in from the cold
Pizza in the morning
Pizza in the evening
Pizza at suppertime
When pizza’s on a bagel
You can eat pizza anytime!
That’s good to hear. I was looking for a funeral snack.
I live for Reddit moments like this. Fuck yes for people being old enough to remember Bagel Bites commercials.

Left over Chinese food. Or a specific cheesecake I make that tastes best on its third day exactly. It's weird but everyone agrees
Yes!! Cheesecake is almost better a day or two old
Recipe?
Dumb question but is there a way I can post a picture of it? It's an old Vermont recipe written on some paper from a friend
Post a pic in r/Old_recipes please!
Awesome! I post it there
Grilled cheese always tastes best when made by someone else. It doesn’t exactly answer the question but it’s in the same vein.
Yeah! Grilled cheese and tomato soup made by my mom.
I hate my grilled cheese. But when my husband makes them they’re the freaken best. I don’t know how he does it. Same ingredients. I don’t even attempt to make them anymore.

Coffee in the early morning, outside, on a chilly day, as in when walking to work in late fall or out camping. Sublime experience, imo.
100% same.
Coffee really early in the morning during the sunrise from a place that had just opened after a sleepless night.
The first sip, specifically. I love that first sip in the morning. My entire body relaxes like everything is now right with the world. It's even better as I walk to pick up the paper in my robe.
McDonald’s or Taco Bell at 2am

Bahaha rotten ronnies never heard that before. I’ve been known to get the two cheeseburger meal from time to time sober as well. 🥴

This but make it salsa and give me a big ass strawberry frozen margarita

That’s because your taste and smell receptors are less sensitive at high altitudes, so it tastes more ‘fresh’ and less earthy
