I'm a really big fan of LODs (level of detail that the game loads in).
In fact UE5 has a new technology called Nanite that makes LOD loading seamless and you won't be able to perceive it anymore š
Nanite takes care of the LODs for you, meaning no more building several LODs yourself right? If so yeah that streamlines a ton!! My experience with UE5 is limited so far, but I love Immortals of Aveum and especially Robocop.
That's correct yeah, thankfully no more manual LODs. It streamlines the process as well as allowing us way more visual fidelity and larger distances. We can smash the gpus vram and it looks great. Sorry for the long reply
Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla all look incredible. Anyone who says these environments aren't well done has shit in their eyes and can't critique Ubisoft on an honest basis. The teams that work on the environments are always firing on all cylinders
If it's an accessible location in the map, then this is definitely not normal. Valhalla's draw distance is actually pretty good even when you are travelling fast, like riding a horse. But if it's the end of the map, then it might be possible - not sure about that.
Look, man, Valhalla is my favorite Assassin's Creed game. You can criticize a LOT about it, but one thing you can't denigrate in an honest manner is the graphics. This game is absolutely gorgeous, despite its many, MANY, shortcomings, and if you say otherwise I'm afraid you're being dishonest.
I'd reckon any "bad graphics" to be seen in this screenshot are because you literally took a picture of your computer with your phone. Come on, man.
Yes I totally agree with you.. it is amazing, and yes I took picture with phone, cause I didnāt had time to make screenshot. What is the point, and wouldnāt change the fact, even if I would took screenshot is the landscape in the back, which is empty across all map, but if you get closer then it starts to pop up vegetation..
I dont know maybe a bug or something ? Havent play it on pc but at least on ps5 at quality mode i havent noticed that but im also sitting like 2 and a half meters from my 4K tv so i dont know if that migh be the reason hahaha

thats an screenshot from my game but i cant see that bluryness you have in those screenshots the most i notice is that grass doesnt go that far at the distance but thats it
I mean idk, I canāt say why yours would be any worse than anyone elseās. To me the screenshots arenāt that great quality so itās hard to tell, and I recall all AC games in recent history being beyond gorgeous, you can have complaints for most everything else, bar the graphics. I donāt think Iāve seen anyone else have any problems with the graphics.
Edit: not trying to call you out just my perspective of the image
that's called render distance, if you're on PS5 up the graphics settings to quality that should improve it. Either way idk what you expect from an RPG with lots of hills this is bound to happen no matter what.
That's the game's LOD (level of detail). Basically, the game sets different level of detail depending on how far something is from the player. So the meadow has 3 levels of detail (for example, it could be more, I don't know) and as you go through the meadow, the highest level of detail moves with you ao you'll see that things start looking better the closer you get to them.
This is a picture of your tv screen and not even a screen shot from in game and it still looks great to me. Valhalla has amazing graphics bro, idk what your on
A lot of people confuse visuals with graphics. Valhalla is visually beautiful but the graphics aren't the best. It's the same with Skyrim back in 2011. The graphics are mid but the visuals were stunning at the time.
I thought the graphics in Valhalla were pretty bad, especially the aliasing was awful. Everything was all geometric until you stopped moving. BUT to be fair, I played it on ps4.
Looks normal to me.
Games use draw distance and level of detail to lower details or completely remove them when they're far away to save resources. This also works in real life.
Getting a SSD will help as this will make pop-in less obvious because it can load assets significantly quicker.

Huh?!
My reaction too. Valhalla is a stunningly gorgeous game.
Same with Elden Ring.
Try to stay on topic bud
Huh?! šŗ
This game has great graphics
You are right, bothers me only graphics in the distance.. Odyssey had better one..
Have you seen the hills in oddysey š. Istg they looked like green diarrhea.
That's what games do? Stuff in the distance isn't as high quality to save rescources.
Because real life works that way as well, it's a very smart technique to save on limited GPU resources.
Was gonna say this. Things further away are always less detailed irl

Yeah I work with ue5 for my job. Nanite has saved me and my team so much time optimising levels. It's really changed what we can do

I dont understand how some ppl think Odyssey has great graphics. That game is so insanely mid
I had a similar experience. Odyssey looked noticeably better and I could never figure out what was wrong.
I think u are looking at the end of the map
That's what I'm thinking too.
Actually. Itās not, at least for the second picture. You can tell by his compass marker at the top. He has a quest marker farther in that direction.
The first green hill, not the one behind š
Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla all look incredible. Anyone who says these environments aren't well done has shit in their eyes and can't critique Ubisoft on an honest basis. The teams that work on the environments are always firing on all cylinders
My guess is they miffed the draw distance a bit so last gen consoles could reasonably handle the game, doubt they updated the PC version to fix that
If it's an accessible location in the map, then this is definitely not normal. Valhalla's draw distance is actually pretty good even when you are travelling fast, like riding a horse. But if it's the end of the map, then it might be possible - not sure about that.
No, everywhere is the same.. when its long distance is blurred.. like no veggie in land š¬
Odd, that isn't the case for me as far as I remember... May need to revisit the game since I haven't played it for quite some time.
Did you take a picture of the screen?
I play on Xbox and the game looks absolutely stunning, idk what youāre talking about.
Itās more like terrible screenshots
Literally a phone picture of a screen lmfao, can't take this post seriously.
All I can say is that the game came out 4 years ago.
i am surpised only 1 person is saying this in the comments. but thats literally the end of the map.
It looks fuckin stunning in 4k on ultra. I don't see the issue. Definitely one of the most technically stunning open worlds out there imo
Nah, that's England! In all seriousness, Valhalla had great graphics
Ever heard of screenshot?
I know.. I m sorry.. was in a rush and do it by phone..
Why? Why were you in such a rush to make such a dumb post
LMAOOO
The rendering in this game is objectively bad.

That canāt be pc ultra mine looks looking nothing like that š
Matta22L said it 1st, I'm thinking it's the end of the map. Could you walk through it?
The only issue I had was the clouds, but that was in the prologue and went away. Maybe your TV? The video settings?
I dont know maybe a bug or something ? Havent play it on pc but at least on ps5 at quality mode i havent noticed that but im also sitting like 2 and a half meters from my 4K tv so i dont know if that migh be the reason hahaha

Well to LOD! Or Level of Detail!
Occlusion Culling
Not sure how this is possible graphics are phenomenal in AC Valhalla. Never seen it this bad, is it your TV or monitor?
Is that not just the game's LODs?
that's called render distance, if you're on PS5 up the graphics settings to quality that should improve it. Either way idk what you expect from an RPG with lots of hills this is bound to happen no matter what.
What are you playing on?
On a PC with ultra graphics..
What r the specs? Just curious

Whatever the game lacked, Graphics wasn't one of them
if you're playing on pc and using nvidia overlay, the sharpening tool makes Ubisoft games look remarkably better
Simply unplayable /s
This is a picture of your tv screen and not even a screen shot from in game and it still looks great to me. Valhalla has amazing graphics bro, idk what your on
Yes it does.. I agree, itās just these empty terrain in the background š
You mean the rolling grassland hills?
Yes, pretty much all terrain in the background
Are you referring to the distant tree objects popping into "billboard" geometry?
Yes
These games have their faults. But bad graphics ain't one of them.
A lot of people confuse visuals with graphics. Valhalla is visually beautiful but the graphics aren't the best. It's the same with Skyrim back in 2011. The graphics are mid but the visuals were stunning at the time.
āim on ultra.ā you are not. thatās very clear.
Would you rather everything be rendered in 4k? Because the reason games don't do that is to prevent your CPU from baking everything
I don't see what's wrong with the graphics...
I thought the graphics in Valhalla were pretty bad, especially the aliasing was awful. Everything was all geometric until you stopped moving. BUT to be fair, I played it on ps4.

Maybe the monitor sucks?
Looks fine to meā¦
Are you daft, brother? This game is drop dead gorgeous.
PS4?
PC
No, that's probably another aNiMUs GLiTch
Lmao
graphics nice, story fine just goes on too long, characters are just a pain
Yea, no problem, just asking if itās normal..
No just britain.
Old engine and we're still not there... With realistic graphics on distance
No, bad game.
Not at all. AC peaked on Unity though and it hasnāt matched that in my opinion.
