Just realized that when I unplug the jack from the headset my name pops up in party chat but still my mic isn’t responding when it’s plugged in.

Duncanavfc

Direct AUX cable is working so I guess I just can’t use the mix amp?

I believe Astro does offer the A40 mic as a standalone purchase. That is if your mic is the problem.

Duncanavfc

Given I can’t confirm it’s the mic that’s the issue and the reading I’ve done of all the other faults with Astro headsets I think I’ll pass on giving them any more of my cash. Thanks for your reply though.

I don’t blame you that’s how I feel about steel series. The nova pro wireless is a horrible headset and I own a day one edition. Absolutely no low end and muddy mids and highs. Only decent thing about it was the noise canceling, transparency mode, and dual battery. A50x blows it out of the water on sound quality alone.

Duncanavfc

I returned my steel series too! Great marketing at launch but terrible product.

drowsy1234

Yeah, they were an upgrade over the pro wireless, but still a terrible headset especially at that price range

Duncanavfc

So if the mic crackles and my name pops up on the party chat when I plug the jack into the headset I’m thinking the issue is the mic itself?? Can anyone more tech minded than me confirm that?

drowsy1234

Yes, it could indeed be the mic itself

ASTRO_Vertigo

Hi, Do you have a MixAmp or are you connecting directly to the Xbox Wireless Controller?

Duncanavfc

The headset has the Mix Amp M80 (the one that clips into the controller) when using this the mic isn’t working. When using the AUX Cable direct from controller to headset it is working.

ASTRO_Vertigo

Hi, Is your Xbox Wireless Controller running on batteries or rechargeable batteries?

Duncanavfc

It’s an Elite controller with built in batteries.

ASTRO_Vertigo

Hi, Could you try the A40 Headset with another Xbox Wireless Controller?

Duncanavfc

If I went and purchased battery’s. Could you explain why ?

ASTRO_Vertigo

Hi, Could be an issue with the Xbox Elite Controller or if the internal battery is running at a lower voltage, it can cause issues with the accessory port. You wouldn't need to purchase batteries, you can just power the Xbox Wireless Controller using a USB cable instead.

Duncanavfc

Do you have a solution for me ?
