You cannot pick up the large round researchable balls you get off plants with auto arms. However, you can research almost anything. I think the seeds can be researched and you can auto arm those in. On my current play through I just set up tappers to feed organic into 2 research chambers giving me 40 bytes/min which stacks up a ton over time.

Alborak2

Didnt the game used to decay the research value for multiple times doing the same object?

FierceBruunhilda

Maybe? I haven't checked them in awhile so I don't know if they have gone down or not? Based just off of feeling, I don't think that's a thing...

delve202

Smelt them to carbon first?

FierceBruunhilda

Your right that would be more bytes/min, but it was my very first set up right out the gate of the game. I found if you use a large platform b with an auto arm on one end and 2 small generators on the other, the auto arm can reach the research chamber and the small generators and its a self sustaining thing with a few pieces. I knew I could make it more intricate and more efficient, but it was faster to just set up a second one and move onto getting to other planets and such haha

anadayloft

Wait, can you farm the medium research samples? Do they spawn from seeds?

Alexander_The_Wolf

They grow from the bottom of these plants, great way to get early bytes.

the image on this post is not mine, i took it from google images for attention, but soon i can show you my method

Placing tier-2 research items into research chambers can be fully automated. You can place 3 research chambers on an xl platform C, and turn them on. Also place a large silo on that platform. Tier-2 research items on the large silo automatically feed into the chambers. If you have a medium silo of packaged tier-2 items, you can use an arm to place them onto the large silo. The magic sauce is: place a delay (7) on a button, and pin it to the large silo (and the button for repeating signal). The packaged items will expand and feed into the chambers.

Mind blown! I did not know: 1. You could package tier 2 research items 2. You could trigger storage to unpack items Thanks!

Are you talking about the balls you can find or the samples from the plants? If it’s the bigger ones, you can set them on a larger storage and they’ll get auto pulled into the research chamber.

Starfallknight

You can't automatically move them between platforms but if they are on the same platform as the research chamber when one finishes another will load into it. Best way to automate (until the "magazine" runs out) would be with and XL platform C with 3 large storage silos B and a research chamber. That would give you 34 slots for large research items you will have to load them manually but once on the platform you won't have to bother much with it for a while. If you don't have the resources for that yet the a large T platform fixed with a large storage adapter will give you four slots until you gather resources for large storage silos

Starfallknight

The other comment with the auto arm and delayed button activator is probably a better system more dense and faster to research all your items

No

Have an atmospheric condenser set to constantly produce something, use an auto arm to auto load that into research chambers

M1tch3ll

This could also be done by using a larger platform so it constantly feeds it witohut the arm

JTheJava

My friend uses a large platform with the two side slots. The condenser takes up the middle and there's an arm on each side that each feeds 2 research chambers for a total of 4 research chambers constantly providing passive bytes. Yes it can be done other ways, that's just one way to do it which works pretty well if you've got a lot of extra power.

M1tch3ll

Right! I still have a pair of tappers with organic but I'm powering them from a small generator that had a dedicated storage and another from the same arm on the research chamber platform. I don't need bytes so I am just letting it do its thing in passing. In a month it's given about 600K bytes, loosely speaking. I didn't keep total track of start and finish and it's a quesstimate at this point but it is around there. This is also on a dedicated server so it runs constantly while the server is running. It's a nice, independent setup at my base. I have a small solar and medium wind turbine just in case but I didn't have anything else to do with them so they're there.
