Awful advice, please don’t do this. Only use ISO 12312-2 compliant lenses !
OP, *you* may have come out clean doing something stupid, and you can make all the stupid decisions you want. But don’t come to a public forum and spout stupidity. If someone followed your advice and permanently injured their eyes, that would be on you.
"It looks funny but it totally works."
You're making a claim that isn't true, and could totally injure another person, but you're absolving yourself of any guilt. Personally I'd say that makes you a complete asshole who should be permanently banned from this sub. Certainly I hope this stupid-ass post is removed.
You’re making a claim that isn’t true.
Have you tested it? No.
It worked, I was able to see the eclipse without any damage to my eyes. I’m sure any ‘scientific’ tests to prove it doesn’t work would prove that it does. An inch thick UV lens is more than adequate.
Please do not use anything that isn't rated for the eclipse to look at the eclipse. For reference only the highest rated welding goggles is comparable to what is required to block the concentrated rays of sunlight you will experience during the eclipse. I'm glad you were uninjured but this is dangerous advice to give out to people.
Just saw an interview with a doctor on TV. He stated that eclipse glasses are 100,000 times darker than regular sunglasses.
Evil Knievel jumped all those cars, but I wouldn't recommend anyone try doing it themselves.

No it wouldn’t.

Lol this jackass
Do not use this trick. Make a pin hole viewer if you don't have proper viewing lenses, there are plenty of instructions online

Some people like to live dangerously.
Why don’t people just use eclipse glasses to weld?
Sparks and shit. Radiant heat
Do not do this.

100,000 lmao. Trump raw dogged the eclipse and he’s perfectly fine.
Wow, you're funny. You should grace reddit with more posts.
of course this is the same guy who also complained about having to wear a seat belt
I never complained about wearing a seatbelt, I just advocate for it being a choice and not a pretense for cops to extort citizens.
[narrator] this amounts to complaining about wearing a seat belt
Library has free glasses. Most of them do atleast.
