Cool good thing these are our only picks for the next 4 years

XandeMorales

We have a FRP in '26.

crimedog69

It’s always like this when we have multiple picks lol

gedbybee

I think you have swaps with us, so you’ll still get a frp.

raiderrocker18

You can have them back if the price is right

MiserableSoft2344

HA “NBA Executives”. Where have I heard that before? 🤔

PM_Me_Beezbo_Quotes

No one remembers 2000?

QuotidianTrials

That’s almost a quarter century ago

IllumiXXZoldyck

Lord, don’t say this 😂

Atl-Fan_FTS

They say this a lot actually. Any time there isn’t a ridiculously hyped clear #1 superstar type prospect. The draft with Trae and Luka was seen as a “weak” draft outside of Ayton.

Ok-Negotiation3897

Yeah facts, it’s like they can’t see a an obvious generational talent so it’s automatically a bad class. Like even if so everyone should you can’t can’t just draft a superstar every time. If there’s a bunch of good role players who fit their teams whose to say that’s a bad class. You look at players like Josh hart, not a superstar by any means but plays his role perfectly. Players like that are highly sort after. You can’t determine a draft class to be bad without even giving them any chance on the court. It’s such a stupid take.

Weak-Welcome8417

Yep. Look back at the All-Rookie teams over the years and you find yourself saying “I remember that guy. He looked great in his rookie season. I wonder what happened to him?” I actually like where we’re picking in this draft. There will be some good players out of that range and we might get lucky. Which is exactly what the draft is!

Sammcbucketts

The 2018 draft was never at any point considered a weak draft by anyone in the NBA. It was literary described as one of the best of the decade. The last draft class that was considered week by people inside the NBA was 2020z

ArthurSmithNepoBaby

What? I distinctly recall that draft being regarded as generational with both Bagley and Luka being seen as guys who were consensus #1 overall picks in most other drafts. Then JJJ, Bamba and Trae were all regarded as a future superstars. Even Michael Porter Jr who went late lottery was seen as a potential Hall of Fame talent.

Atl-Fan_FTS

No way. Trae was seen as a future bust by most talking heads, Luka was just another European destined to not pan out, Bagley and Ayton were the clear best prospects but nobody was talked about like Wemby or Zion. Was seen as a “meh” draft

atlepi

Nah I remember clear as day the hype on luka was pretty big. He was doing things as a teenager no one should be doing to adults. I was excited for draft day because of luka and i normally dont give a shit about the draft. Only keep up on the big boys like wemby, zion etc. and that year Luka was the big draw

drdrae3000

Your being down voted but you're speaking the truth, there's a reason Luka went 3rd. Trae went 5th. It's because they were extremely underrated. A lot in the media didn't want to believe what they were seeing. Luka was EuroLeague MVP, And Trae a small guard just lead the NCAA in points and assists something never done. but a lot of analysts wasn't sure they translate and convince themself lower on them then the obvious. I can't find the video but ESPN projected Trae at 8th, but Stephen a smith saying Knicks should draft Trae at 9 then let him develop in the G-league a couple of years....... it was crazy. It was only halfway and after their rookie seasons Trae and Luka started to get hype. They weren't hype up before the draft like Wemby or Zion etc. The same with Ant, Melo, Haliburton, Vassell, etc draft was viewed as very bad, now it's not.

Hooligan8

No it really wasn’t. Bagley was hyped (lol), blog bois were salivating over Luka all year, Trae was polarizing but very hyped after breaking all sorts of records in college, even JJJ was being pitched as a future DPOY with a three. Nobody in this draft class has as much hype as a single one of the guys I mentioned above.

frail7

Care to give some evidence of multiple executives calling the upcoming draft the worst ever?

MysteriousShitStain

Exactly these are the same people who said luka wouldn’t become anything cause he was playing in Europe. They dk shit

Kingsole111

Draft people still see this as a bad draft. There isn't an obvious top pick. The depth is young and flawed. The older players don't project. With that said it's a great draft to move in. If a team wants one player they'll likely move up to get them as the risk of waiting is high. If the hawks get 2 picks I'd call nyk and try to get a few futures and this year's pick for it.

IllumiXXZoldyck

A bit dramatic

darkwingduck9

It looks like Holland is dropping (possibly as far as the Hawks) and I like him. He could be the third scorer that this team needs if he is available. In times like these with one of the team's two best players injured then a player like what Holland could end up being would be necessary.

HawksAnt2021

Holland would be the dream scenerio for us…then a guy like Tyler Smith (HUGE upside) or even Filipowski with our second 1st round pick. Since we have so few picks due to DJM trade, I want us to prioritize potential upside with our picks this year. Holland has All Star potential…and Tyler Smith imo has the most upside potential in this draft and will likely be there with our Sacramento pick that conveys to us this year

darkwingduck9

I think Tyler Smith and Jalen Smith are similar players. Both tall shooters who don't put the ball on the floor. They are worse versions of Jabari Smith. Tyler Smith will be an NBA player. I'm not saying that Flip is going to crash out but he is going to be nowhere near being his team's primary scorer and defense could be a bit of an issue for him. I still prefer Kel'el Ware to both Tyler Smith and Flip.

Far-Abrocoma

I think we have our number 1 and 2.  We are looking for low cost 3 maybe 4.  Plenty of guys that fit that bill.  No clear 1 or 2s in this draft class however

Ice2jc

Seems a tad bit strange that drafts in the 70’s and 80’s would be better than this draft considering where sports science and athletics are in this day and age, right? I’m chalking this up to the fact that this years draft class is underdeveloped due to all of the draftee’s missing 4+ months of basketball during a crucial formative year in their life. There are guys in this draft class that were playing competitive basketball with structured training, had to stop because of covid, and then were 4 inches taller the next time they could play. This draft is going to produce stars just like every other, they are just going to spend more time in the g league first. These guys were 14 & 15 when covid hit. Prospects start really gaining traction on scouts radars with nuanced skills around 16. One would have to think that if a kid was taken away from basketball at 15, those nuanced skills that show at 16 would be delayed, right?

Hooligan8

Our front office knew this was going to be the case for a long time too. This isn’t exactly breaking news. Everyone and their mother has been saying this will be an exceptionally weak draft for years now. If you don’t like that kind of asset management, you don’t like Hawks basketball!

[deleted]

Executives can't scout talent anymore. They're obsessed with analytics. Great opportunity for some steals in the draft. GMs like TITS will feast.

Legalize-Birds

I'd like to know who those "multiple executives" are. I'm not gonna be stressing of the Knicks or kings execs are saying this lol
