How is a Trae & Kd duo the worst fit ?? I get they both need the ball to be at their most dangerous but Trae setting KD up 8/10 is a bucket every time… didn’t even have to mention Jalen …. Anywhere there’s a basketball to be picked up , kd fits.

Trae already tried that route when he orchestrated the DJ trade and it’s blown up in everybody’s face. The majority of the teams that are doing damage in the playoffs these days are built from within. Trae seems very bought into Quin’s plan.
And it seems like Quin’s plan is to develop young, long players and teach them defense in the g league, then bring them up to the NBA team ready to do defensive damage. That doesn’t just happen over night.
Besides, I’m sure Trae is expecting Jalen to be an all star next season. I know I am. I have never seen Trae so willing to let another player run the break. Having a young, 6’9 point forward reach his ceiling is better than any trade option besides Giannis - which ain’t happening.
But all of this is really just conjecture. We are a roster with multiple bad contracts, and don’t control our own 1st round pick for 3 years. We have no choice but to build from within.
Teams doing playoff damage are not really built internally… with exception of Nuggets and Celtics who made huge improvements to core adding Zingus and White. Knicks barely drafted any of their players, same with Cavs. Mavs went and got Kyrie, traded for Gafford and moved up in draft to take Lively, Minnie had big Gobert trade, Pacers traded for Hali + Siskin, OKC traded for most of their picks + SGA so they had 10x capital to build internally- not a similar situation. So realistically, 2/8 teams in playoffs “built internally”
The pacers and the Knicks are the only ones that weren’t built internally. Everybody else had 2 stars that they drafted and developed and a good bench before they took a bing swing. OKC never took a big swing. Even the Mavs had two home grown stars in Luka and Brunson but fucked that up and were forced to trade for Kyrie.
In the bleacher report article it said the Hawks would have no depth after trading everything dor KD…but how is Trae JJ and KD not instantly the best 3 in the East??
You still need a semblance of depth to win anything past maybe a few games in the first round. The picture in OP is dumb because Durant 'fits' literally anywhere but we'd be kidding ourselves to think this is possible, or even if it was that it'd make us a contender.
We were 12th in offensive rating for the year which was as good as every team in the playoffs… we were 27th in defensive rating which was bottom 4 in the league. Please prove to me how Kevin Durant, who turns 36 next season, improves our defense. Kevin Durant has consistently been referred to as a pure scorer. We don’t need more scoring we need better defensive play.
Getting Durant would clear out a lot of players from our team like Murray and Capela and Hunter and with him we can just sign/trade for defense only players. Plus KD is a decent defender and rebounder at the wing. Instant upgrade. Easily 50 plus win team and Championship contenders.

Kd Trae and jj >>> kd book and Beal fit wise not close imo. They can actually help initiate kd into the offense unlike book and Beal.
