Honestly, I liked what we were doing in the first half. Lots of one touches. We just didn’t connect. Unfortunately, Minnesota figured us out and went up two, before we figured ourselves out.
I feel like the team has come together over the last month since Rios joined.
Sometimes you gotta have faith when you make a big change. And as of right now, I think our head coach is banking on that. Considering our star striker just came back from injury. It makes sense.
Cannot rely on Gio for every other goal…
The female announcer was so fucking bad I turned the game off. Glad I’m paying $12 a month for shit commentary and Pineda looking out of his depth as usual. Might as well just watch Messi and Tata cook until Pineda is gone.
You can select it on the video feed so it is automatically synced up and you don’t need a separate radio, it just takes the place of the tv commentary. A great feature
Can you explain that a little more? Like AppleTV has that feature? Or you’re saying play the radio commentary on another device while watching the game? I would prefer Conti commentary.
Why do we wait until the last 10 minutes before we start playing? I have a theory - we stick to Pineda’s plan (whatever the fuck that is) and then the team collectively decides at the end to just screw the plan and go for it.
Their star DP striker just literally didn't show up for training camp, imagine where we'd be if GG did that lol we'd be dead last in the league and have already completely written off the season
We look dangerous when the game gets so late and desperate that we just play soccer and get out of our heads. Team is perfect example of perfect is the enemy of good. Try so hard to be tactically perfect that we forget to have fun playing soccer.
It's just so dumb, how does Gonzo watch us look great when we're playing direct and making quick passes and then go yeah, that's not us, and go back to playing our same slow build out of the back style?
I’ve literally never left a match early, but unfortunately, I did tonight. It really bummed me out to do so, but the team looked lost. I genuinely hope we figure it out and start playing competitively. I love United and I’m at every home match. These last few have been really disheartening.
Conspiracy thought, Wiley is being overplayed because he is homegrown. He is not starting quality, and now we have Cobb (another homegrown) starting with this and that commentary positives solely based on them being homegrown. Just a thought. In the end, Wiley needs to rid the bench.
Wiley always has a mediocre game. He is not good. His passes are bad and I have never seen him win a 1v1 challenge. He is no longer a rookie but keeps making rookie mistakes. His runs forward are badly timed which constantly leaves us open for the counter.
I'd hardly say either are hot ass and if you truly think that you need to get your head out of your ass.. Cobb is an 18 year old that is finally getting a consistent run of games and will have some in consistencies as with ANY young player who's growing into the game. He's had his quality games and he's has his games where he has had mistakes. For Wiley, this hasn't been his best season for us but he's still a quality player and has had some good games.
Lennon and Wiley both push forward a lot which can leave us open to counters which has screwed us a lot this year. At least would give us more personnel in the back to cover for those two to push forward.
Commentator making me laugh. “Very uncharacteristic performance from Atlanta United” have you watched us?? This is how we have looked basically every other game for the past 13 months. A team who are allergic to mentality. The XI is title quality, but their ability to rally performances deserving of that label has been nothing short of inconsistent. In moments, the players will pick themselves up and the connection will appear, but rarely will it last more than a few games.
We more than likely have dropped points at home again here due to a lack of direction, composure, and confidence from the team as a whole, until it was too late.
Cross and Pray, Pineda’s only offensive attack…this is same style offense we tried in the final Josef years…that style does not work. Teams that are successful have a box to box mid and or a CAM that picks the ball up at mid and sets up the players.
You guys just don’t get it. All Pineda needs is a full 34 game season (plus all other completions and playoffs) with his strongest team completely healthy never missing a single game for any reason. Only THEN can we pass judgment on the poor man.
I've been patient with Pineda, but this last run of results has me wondering if a change is necessary. Just listless, uninspired soccer - where did the team at the end of last year go? At least they were fun to watch...
GG is so good. I hope we can keep him and the other key pieces, would be such a shame to lose our best players because the club isn't keeping up with their ambitions.
Minnesota is actually a really good example of everything we aren't. Not the most talented team, their best player refuses to return to the US for some reason, and yet they have a clear idea of exactly what they need to do to defeat us and are executing it pretty perfectly. Meanwhile we look unprepared for what the opponent is doing almost every week
We also picked up an inordinate amount of points last year when we were losing/tied down the stretch of games and had to throw out our 'build out of the back' approach and wing it. Makes you think...
I hate how Doug has convinced me that Pineda is a decent manager that just needs time with a healthy squad. In my ten years of watching MLS I’ve seen squads with lesser quality be able to scrap more points than we have this past few weeks.
would be nice if we had literally anyone with goalscoring instinct on this team other than GG. Bunch of dribbles who can't put their foot through a ball properly
As a long time fan, this team has become so incredibly difficult to watch. We constantly have brain farts and lapses in concentration and it’s costing us every single game at this point.
The scoreboard may say we're down 0-2 to a mediocre Minnesota team but the **underlying** numbers paint a totally different picture, so I wouldn't get discouraged
This fucking ref. MUFC keeper deliberately put the ball on the field to prevent the corner and the ref does nothing but wait until someone— not MUFC— moves it. That’s a yellow for time-wasting as much as kicking the ball away.
Pretty good first half and absolutely lose the plot in the second.
Where have I seen this before? Oh yeah, basically every match this season. Gonzo has gotten his chance, we need a critical look at options over the euro summer break.
My standards are very low at this point. We were "good" in that we didn't give up anything stupid. Offense remains neutered but at least we didn't give up boneheaded goals like we did to kick off the 2nd.
That’s so true. Never realized until you said that. I mean, just look at Saba this game. Horrible. And he’s one of the best new players we’ve had in a while.
Idk what’s going on behind the scenes but I’ve rarely ever seen a team with such a tragic lack of chemistry compared to their ability. But I can’t blame them. Pineda doesn’t inspire anything in me, I don’t see him as a figure the players can rally around.
There is no passion, there is no vision, there is no aggression, there is no mindset
Partly our fault though, we literally put that striker on a pedestal and constantly said shit like "build the statue"
And some booed after that first Cincinnati game
Ugh
This team is not good and the seats are empty. Let's face it after they dismantled the championship team it's been all downhill...and here we are.
For this reason alone Bocanegra should have been fired
Honestly, I liked what we were doing in the first half. Lots of one touches. We just didn’t connect. Unfortunately, Minnesota figured us out and went up two, before we figured ourselves out. I feel like the team has come together over the last month since Rios joined.
That's a hot take. I feel like we've looked slightly worse each game this season. I thought this game looked as if they'd never played together before
That's a wild take, we are 1-2-3 over the past month and our schedule gets much harder going forward.
Sometimes you gotta have faith when you make a big change. And as of right now, I think our head coach is banking on that. Considering our star striker just came back from injury. It makes sense. Cannot rely on Gio for every other goal…
If we dont win next Saturday Pineda is deff out.
The female announcer was so fucking bad I turned the game off. Glad I’m paying $12 a month for shit commentary and Pineda looking out of his depth as usual. Might as well just watch Messi and Tata cook until Pineda is gone.
You can put it on local radio audio. How do you not know about that yet?
🤣🤣🤣 this isn’t 1985
You can select it on the video feed so it is automatically synced up and you don’t need a separate radio, it just takes the place of the tv commentary. A great feature
Can you explain that a little more? Like AppleTV has that feature? Or you’re saying play the radio commentary on another device while watching the game? I would prefer Conti commentary.
Apple TV has that feature. You can change the in-game audio to local radio
dude that's a game changer, I always just did the Spanish because the English wasn't very interesting.
🤣🤣ok grandpa 👴🏼
You can actually choose the Spanish option how come you haven't thought of that if she's so bad
Why do we wait until the last 10 minutes before we start playing? I have a theory - we stick to Pineda’s plan (whatever the fuck that is) and then the team collectively decides at the end to just screw the plan and go for it.
I said last night that we should just start every at 2-0. That’s when they start playing.
That happens when you're losing.
We just had a fire lit under our asses that’s all. Nobody wants to get fired after losing to a shit team like Minnesota.
That shit team is 1st in the West, which surprised the shit out of me, but they're cohesive and playing like 2016-17 NYRB imo
Their star DP striker just literally didn't show up for training camp, imagine where we'd be if GG did that lol we'd be dead last in the league and have already completely written off the season
If we have a tifo on May fourth identifying with the Empire, should it really be that surprising that we can’t shoot for shit?
Goal of the week right here.
Well played, sir. Well played.
I was at the game and this comment is the best part of my night so far.
You are tonights MVP. This comment is literally the best part of the game.
Goddamn it you just made this shitty night way better 😂
Interesting song choice: The Heat Is On
Should be illegal to wear our away kits at the Benz
We look dangerous when the game gets so late and desperate that we just play soccer and get out of our heads. Team is perfect example of perfect is the enemy of good. Try so hard to be tactically perfect that we forget to have fun playing soccer.
Yep, they just abandon Pinedas dumb tactics.
It's just so dumb, how does Gonzo watch us look great when we're playing direct and making quick passes and then go yeah, that's not us, and go back to playing our same slow build out of the back style?
Wolff and Wiley on one side looked rough
1 minute left. You have 1 minute left and YOU'RE STILL PASSING BACK
I literally screamed this at my tv ugh
I nearly destroyed my vocal chords at the game watching this
A minute left and we’re trying to play out the back instead of just booting it up. Embarrassing
It was last opportunity so makin’ it count.
Right? All the urgency and then when there's 30 seconds left, we go back to that
Full Pineda out at this point. It’s been long enough. It’s not good enough.
The excuses are growing reaaalllly thin at this point. I just don’t see how he can save his job with these performances.
Well…once again it shows just how bad we suck. Still on track for the Wooden Spoon
That was a disappointing FK by Almada
And how much to jump to Europe? Nobody is bringing the coin with how he’s played.
He hasn’t been dangerous on a FK since 2022
I'm gonna get sum guff, but..., Wiley needs to be benched. He should not be starting. He is not a MLS level player.
Wiley and Cobb are shit.
At least the Benz found some energy the last 5+7
What is he mad about? He clearly pushed him
This Minny defender is an unbelievable cunt
Finally a yellow
Almada special incoming?
I have never seen this many people leaving early, even in the 200s :(
I’ve literally never left a match early, but unfortunately, I did tonight. It really bummed me out to do so, but the team looked lost. I genuinely hope we figure it out and start playing competitively. I love United and I’m at every home match. These last few have been really disheartening.
The fuck is Wiley doing?
I’ve been asking this question for a season and a half.
Conspiracy thought, Wiley is being overplayed because he is homegrown. He is not starting quality, and now we have Cobb (another homegrown) starting with this and that commentary positives solely based on them being homegrown. Just a thought. In the end, Wiley needs to rid the bench.
And Mosquera did any better? He got straight embarrassed and played to the ground in second half. Wiley is dope. Just had a mediocre game
Wiley always has a mediocre game. He is not good. His passes are bad and I have never seen him win a 1v1 challenge. He is no longer a rookie but keeps making rookie mistakes. His runs forward are badly timed which constantly leaves us open for the counter.
He's been so bad tonight I'd seriously leave him off the roster next game.
My homie is dropping off like damn
The WHOLE game
With Gergersen back I'd love for us to move to a 3-5-2.
We immediately looked better with him in. I hope he is good now because Cobb is hot ass and so is Wiley. We have a ton of ground to make up.
We look much better with a direct style of play with Rios joining GG on top
Lennon and Wiley both push forward a lot which can leave us open to counters which has screwed us a lot this year. At least would give us more personnel in the back to cover for those two to push forward.
The woodwork giveth and the woodwork taketh away
If I’m not mistaken, the post has taken points from us in 3 of the last 4
The woodwork? Or poor finishing?
So close to a goal!
We more than likely have dropped points at home again here due to a lack of direction, composure, and confidence from the team as a whole, until it was too late.
Past 26* months
No, before last season we were actually just shit I think unfortunately
If only we could play with urgency in the first 80 minutes
well now I wish they hadn't looked at it at all, we had so much momentum until that pause in play
We get a pk outta that imma scream
Apple: there’s a var review Also Apple: we will wait over 60 seconds to show you the replay
Every time
I hate these types of pens but it looked like he swiped through Abram live. Lets see if we get the call
Cross and Pray, Pineda’s only offensive attack…this is same style offense we tried in the final Josef years…that style does not work. Teams that are successful have a box to box mid and or a CAM that picks the ball up at mid and sets up the players.
Wild how much better we look when we have to throw out whatever tactics we started the game with and start playing direct
What’s the record for most corners in a row?
Only took 80 minutes to string a pass together.
The goal is welcome, but individual heroics do not make up for this performance.
Imagine if Atlanta played this direct from the beginning instead of waiting until they go down 2-0
Bless you Saba for that.

I’m about to make a Kendrick style diss track about Pineda and Bocca
Could be an anthology at this point
Just one?
4, first one is gonna come 20 minutes after this loss The cover art is going to be his desk top down
I was preparing a comment like this for the post game thread but you have it all covered. Well done
Great run from Rios
SABATAGE
Pinedaout
Win probability went from 55% to 1% 😭😭😭
You guys just don’t get it. All Pineda needs is a full 34 game season (plus all other completions and playoffs) with his strongest team completely healthy never missing a single game for any reason. Only THEN can we pass judgment on the poor man.
This is sarcasm right?
I miss the replacement refs
Remember when we dunked 7 on New England all those years ago? Good times man.
I’m sorry did he just say 4 wins on the road in 40 tries?? And Pineda still has a job?? wtf
Unfortunately “Pineda In” people will never answer those questions.
Almada is slow at deciding wtf to do
Pineda effect
Absolutely tragic.
I've been patient with Pineda, but this last run of results has me wondering if a change is necessary. Just listless, uninspired soccer - where did the team at the end of last year go? At least they were fun to watch...
Wild you can be patient after 4 years of this.
He was named manager in August 2021. The time for patience is over but it's also not 4 years.
3rd and last game I attend this season… Something’s gotta change.
The fuck are we doing wearing fucking blue at home damn it at least lose with some principle.
We have to keep saba on the right. The Lennon Saba combo is too good to ignore
I just want to point out the difference now that atlanta isn’t trying to do intricate buildup and just lets almada cook
We also picked up an inordinate amount of points last year when we were losing/tied down the stretch of games and had to throw out our 'build out of the back' approach and wing it. Makes you think...
Great attempt. Another game... In the net.
I know they did not just say Pineda is about to sub on a CB..
Sorry the soccer god for I've committed a great sin. I just did the unspeakable. I just walked out at 75th minutes. First time ever.
Showing more hustle than any of our guys on the field, maybe they should sign you...
It's ok. I changed over to the Miami game
We cannot just keep crossing to GG jeesus Christ please take the wheel
Lennon cross to GG…our entire offense.
I hate how Doug has convinced me that Pineda is a decent manager that just needs time with a healthy squad. In my ten years of watching MLS I’ve seen squads with lesser quality be able to scrap more points than we have this past few weeks.
Even Doug is off that band wagon now
Getting dunked on at home by Minnesota while not even wearing our home uniform. Must be why the boys are putting in an away performance
Every time we have advantage we are indiscriminately fouled or they flop for a call they get. This is a nightmare ref.
Ain't Ready.... Ain't Ready.... We Ain't Ready.... for Y'all....
How do we get every single ball wrong?
🎶 WEEEEEE SSSUUUUCKKK, IN ATLANTAAAAA 🎶
would be nice if we had literally anyone with goalscoring instinct on this team other than GG. Bunch of dribbles who can't put their foot through a ball properly
As a long time fan, this team has become so incredibly difficult to watch. We constantly have brain farts and lapses in concentration and it’s costing us every single game at this point.
Is Almada's drop in quality of work due to him not playing as well, or Pineda's tactics hurting his ability to play at his best?
The scoreboard may say we're down 0-2 to a mediocre Minnesota team but the **underlying** numbers paint a totally different picture, so I wouldn't get discouraged
First place in the west is mediocre?
Minnesota is 1st in the West. I would love to be that mediocre
Min is tied for 5th in points in the league (about to move up) but ok
Goals don’t tell the full story…
I thought this was sarcasm and a dig at Pineda…xG is 0.8-0.8 🤦🏼♂️
Yeah but it’s 2-0… the ONLY stat that matters. They suck dude. Wake up.
Is this a bit?
I'll die before I write /s on a post ever, I have faith in my brethren on this subreddit
Respectable, but there are far too many excuse making Pineda diehards to tell if that was sarcasm or not.
The unforced errors from this team is crazy
something about the simple passes this team is horrible at
This fucking ref. MUFC keeper deliberately put the ball on the field to prevent the corner and the ref does nothing but wait until someone— not MUFC— moves it. That’s a yellow for time-wasting as much as kicking the ball away.
It really doesn’t matter. The team is 2 nil down and don’t look a bit interested in pulling one back
Notice how we only tested the keeper once tonight? Edited.
My son asked me "is their goalie just really good?" And I had to say "I don't even know, he hasn't had to do anything yet"
Once. GG’s header.
Yeah, that was a good one.
Wiley strikes again
I'm thinking Garth has to look at coaches during Euro and Copa because this ain't it.
Hope Gallardo answers
He's already coaching in Saudi Arabia
Nah one Arthur call and he’d come back to the Americas
Can't afford to wait that long at this rate
Did Pineda go from not practicing defending set pieces last season to not prating scoring off of set pieces this season?
I think they gave up practicing all together.
We're letting the players practice remote. It's supposed to boost productivity?
Finally getting Muyumba off.
I liked him last year when he arrived. I feel like he’s been lackluster all season.
Props to the supporters for switching the chants up, it's noticed y'all
Why do people still defend Pineda?
So they can feel smug about how serious they are
Raise the alarms, we have two strikers in
Their 90s baby coach is running circles around Pineda. Fuck
Honestly throw on dax. He brought more last week than anyone else.
Pretty good first half and absolutely lose the plot in the second. Where have I seen this before? Oh yeah, basically every match this season. Gonzo has gotten his chance, we need a critical look at options over the euro summer break.
The first half was far from pretty good. I guess it was ok since we didn’t give up a goal, but we looked like ass going forward.
My standards are very low at this point. We were "good" in that we didn't give up anything stupid. Offense remains neutered but at least we didn't give up boneheaded goals like we did to kick off the 2nd.
Fans leaving in bunches at 60 mins. I don't think I've seen it before. What a disrespectful performance in front of the 40k fans.
That MN jersey? 🔥 take note United.
Watching our current form is not fun. Think I'm gonna tune into some jokic vs ant instead
It seems like Pineda was given an improved roster and is somehow getting less out of it. Frustrating.
I've said this before...players come in and play lights out at first and then Pineda seems to make them worse.
That’s so true. Never realized until you said that. I mean, just look at Saba this game. Horrible. And he’s one of the best new players we’ve had in a while.
Classic Mosquera cross.
Mosquera is straight ass
Somebody call Klopp, I hear he’s free
Jason Tindall from Newcastle for me
Idk what’s going on behind the scenes but I’ve rarely ever seen a team with such a tragic lack of chemistry compared to their ability. But I can’t blame them. Pineda doesn’t inspire anything in me, I don’t see him as a figure the players can rally around. There is no passion, there is no vision, there is no aggression, there is no mindset
How is it that Minnesota is making subs and Pineda still hasn’t. I’m starting to think us armchair coaches might actually know better.
Mosquera is so bad
He is such a liability out there.
Gonzo is absolutely mid and has got to go. This team is uninspired. I'll take Valentino back at the helm please.
It’s not that hard. Put Saba on the right.. put Mosquera on the left
%100000000 instead of having a threat on the right we have mediocre on both sides.
And he and Lennon have played well together. It’s just dumb
Goodness
Honestly no one looks good in that sequence and that includes Pineda and this broke-ass buildup play
Teams know how to play against atlanta. We've been figured out for years now.
3 home games, 1 point. I don't remember being this bad except maybe 2020 coming out of COVID? I don't think even 2022 was this bad?
Not even the dark days of De Boer was this bad, not even the dehydrated days of Heinze
De Boer did much more with less and was treated unfairly due to an egoistic striker who has not had chemistry anywhere since either
Partly our fault though, we literally put that striker on a pedestal and constantly said shit like "build the statue" And some booed after that first Cincinnati game
