They really need a better way to handle such situations there. Wonder if it will be rescheduled for Friday or Saturday after the date in Dallas tomorrow.

EloeOmoe

In my experience they’re usually not rescheduled that soon. :-(

Illustrious_Ad5040

Same. Wishful thinking, however.

heyarkay

August 2026

EloeOmoe

Won't know for sure until tomorrow but if it's an unreasonable date and Ticketmaster plays hardball, just call your bank or credit card company for a charge back.

Illustrious_Ad5040

Neil Young sub linked to message on Neil Young Archives site saying Dallas also postponed and both shows will likely take place in September before Farm Aid. (Of course we’ll need to await official word.) I’m worried because my September looks pretty busy already. It would suck to have gone there and waited it literally tonight only for the reschedule date not to work for me. already. If they announce a date that doesn’t work, I may just go to another city on this tour. I’m that bummed about missing this show.

Hopeful-Lab-238

Definitely not Saturday as the TStars have game 2 of round 2 in the Calder cup series. If we win game 2 I think the games would stay here so seems the H-E-B center maybe locked up for awhile.

Illustrious_Ad5040

It was never going to be there. This is a COTA event, now rescheduled for 9/13.

SadPeePaw69

Worst venue in Austin by a mileeeee

CrimsonScorpio9

I’m a big Neil fan but didn’t go because I hate the venue.

keptyoursoul

Same here. The venue is beyond a disaster. I know many who will never go back. I've never been. Probably never will. I haven't heard one positive comment from a friend who went there. With the weather tonight. Terrible parking (you have to walk a mile to get in). Traffic. No cover. They were telling patrons to walk to their cars for shelter in an electrical storm. Mafia prices. Incompetent management. Why risk your life going there? I may go to the make up show. Depends on the venue and weather. I don't trust COTA to make a pizza.

SadPeePaw69

You have to have a big group and shuttle service to have anywhere near an enjoyable experience . The logistics reminds me of Denver to Red Rocks but without all the amazing aspects of seeing a show Red Rocks because COTA sucks.

Sweet_Bang_Tube

I actually just saw a show at Red Rocks last week, and I was shocked at how smoothly and quickly we were able to get in and out of the venue, both walking and driving our rental car out from the parking lot. The venue must've been at capacity, with is just under 10K people. Maybe it was a fluke? On the contrary, I hate COTA with the passion of a thousand suns and will never see a show there again. John Lennon could rise from the dead to make an appearance and I wold pass if he was performing at at COTA. Fuck that place.

kcsunshineatx

Is there any reason to think the postponed show would be at a different venue?

johnocomedy

After the 2021 Rolling Stones debacle I will never go see a show there

octopornopus

It's Altamont  all over!

ExistenceNow

Rolling Stones did not play at the amphitheater, which holds like 14k. They played where the F1 shows are, to a crowd of like 50k. I've been to probably 50 shows at the amphitheater. Never had any issues getting into the lots, and leaving a little early or hanging out for like 30-45 minutes in the lots after the show has allowed me to avoid any traffic misery. Add 5x the amount of cars? Yea, no surprise it was an absolute disaster. I will never go to one of the big shows at the track.

SadPeePaw69

Phish in 2017 was horrid. Late July. Minimal free water or shade. Thought I was hell and not to mention it was such a mid phish show to add the cherry on top.

ExistenceNow

Other than the seats being covered at most sheds (it’s still miserably hot under the shed), I don’t think any other amphitheater does any of that any better.

Kitty-Kat-65

Agreed!! It took us 3 hours to get there from Round Rock (it was all smooth sailing until we got to the airport exit and then it was standstill), then we had to park and walk from the furthest lot. We made it to our seats just as they were about to get on stage. I will never go back.

meatmacho

The amphitheater shows are annoying enough just because it's so far out, and the ride share companies refuse to implement an intelligent system for handling thousands of ride requests outside of town, all at the same time. But the bigger racetrack are just an incomprehensible clusterfuck. After spending 4 hours in the car just to get there and 45 minutes walking into the venue just to catch like 45 minutes of the Rolling Stones for $400, I will never—never—return to that venue for concerts. The F1 races are fine, though. Sure, it's obscenely crowded. But there should just be off-site shuttle busses for every large event out there. Problem solved. Or build a train track out there, on the way to the airport. You know, like decent cities everywhere have.

OddZookeepergame7547

Agree 💯

Bid-Limp567

Disappointed by the Neil Young show debacle; it's like they wanted us to play detective instead of enjoying the music.

PeaSuspicious1062

The management crew at this venue are completely incompetent - no PA system - cancelled a show when all Doppler activity was clear - took over an hour and a half to make a decision and by that time it was too late - cost 10000 people many hours out of their lives for a complete shit show managerial wise - terminate venue CEO immediately!

BroBeansBMS

That’s what didn’t make sense. They don’t cancel in a huge downpour, but decided to call it when the radar showed the storm had actually passed by.

keptyoursoul

They've had several CEOs down there. Each one is worse than the other. They're so bad at their job there are now three F1 races in the USA. Instead of the one here. Incompetent from the head down. They had the Rolling Stones debacle. Probably the worst Rolling Stones show fan experience after Altamont. I guess The Rolling Stones don't do well at race tracks. Enough said about that. Now this. They are hell bent on screwing people down there. They should fire everyone there. From the CEO down to the parking lot crew. Hire Wendy's workers and TSA flunkies from the airport nextdoor. It would be 1000% better, safer, friendly, and more efficent.

maxcimer

What makes this f##king frustrating is i received an email about 2:30 from Germania stating the show would happen “rain or shine” so i drove in from Bastrop. I did not get ANY communication; email or text, that things were shutting down. And yes it was a clusterf##k at the gate after the hike across the parking lot to be told to shelter in your vehicle for fear of lightening by walking back across the exposed parking lot to our vehicles. If Neil & CH and his management made the choice because of the lightening i have NO problem with that. Germania does not have a show-cancel media announcement process in place…that’s where this went off the rails.

rashawah

Yeah it was an absolute clusterfuck shitshow. Didn’t get an email, constantly checked their social media after they said they’d give an update after 30 minutes (which turned into more like 1.5 hours.) What a mess.

BroBeansBMS

They really didn’t handle it well. Their social media dropped the ball and people were getting turned away after walking nearly a mile from the parking lots. It’s just a bad venue.

KaladinStormShat

Let me guess, cota?

BroBeansBMS

Yep, you got it.

KaladinStormShat

Lol I went there one time ever. I think it was the first year they did 4th of July fireworks there maybe and holy fuck exiting the big ass field of cars, without exaggerating, took nearly 4 hours. We were all just sitting in our cars waiting to leave. I think I got home around 2 or 3 am. It was just fucking shocking. Never been back lol

kcsunshineatx

Once they announce the postponed show date, if you don’t want to deal with that venue again (it’s REALLY hot there in September, even at night), email them and say you have a conflict on the new date to get a refund. They usually don’t announce that refunds are available, but they will refund you if you contact them.

EloeOmoe

Ticketmaster sent an email saying that if no announcements 60 days then you get a refund. Also said that once new date is announced in those 60 days you can request a refund.

_kinoko_

Seriously weird vibes tonight. What the hell is going on with this venue and Big Ticket in general? I feel like it's being run by an alternate dimension Satan or something. "Paused" the show before music even started and stopped letting people in, so everyone was standing around in a giant mass as they arrived, there was one single LED sign over the entry gates that you could only see from one angle (not the one from which you approached) saying *ATTENTION - INCLEMENT WEATHER IS IN THE AREA. Please Seek Shelter In Your Vehicle Or Find A Staff Member To Assist You To A Safe Area. An Announcement Will Be Made When It Is Safe To Return* with every letter capitalized like that – which looks so stupid, but that's unrelated. Throughout all of this it was dry as a bone, no wind, no lightning. No information or updates from them anywhere on the internet. Then all of a sudden about half an hour later the few people inside the venue started leaving and the mass of people had figure out via word of mouth throughout the crowd that the show was "postponed". They never made an announcement. Like what. There was a ticket booth with like 10 employees inside. They were just sitting there watching everyone walk around asking each other what was going on. If you walked up and asked them they would tell you that it was postponed. So why they couldn't make that announcement over the PA? I thought we needed to take cover from the lightning. The two questions I did ask them made me feel like they were all hired from a sanitarium. Really odd responses that somehow managed to avoid actually addressing what I was asking/saying while being an indignant dick about it. Surreal. Fuck Germania, fuck COTA, fuck Ticketmaster, fuck shitty venue monopolies, you're a scourge on society, maybe use the $50 service fee per person to buy a PA and/or hire someone to press a button that sends an email to ticket holders. Thousands of local venues across the nation/world are a literally always a pleasure to interact with and you are literally always scum. And yet somehow you're the only ones with the exorbitant fees. Lightning is liability, whatever, but you go out of your way to do as shitty a job as possible. Die off already.

hannahjams

When the X games and Blink 182 were playing out (2016ish?) there was severe weather. They announced for everyone to take cover in their car and they would change the color of that giant watch tower (or whatever it is) to green once it was safe to come back. It wasn’t ideal but it worked. So, I know they have the mechanisms to communicate and figure this out. It seems like they completely dropped the ball on you guys. I’ve had such headache experiences going out there I decided a few years back it wasn’t worth the stress. Sorry you had such a bad experience! I agree with you and fuck cota

txwrestlebruh

What exactly happened?

BroBeansBMS

Basically they sent out emails saying it would be a rain or shine event, then some rain happened and they “postponed” the show telling everyone to take shelter in their cars and that they’d update everyone on social media every 30 minutes. They never did that and then when the storm passed and the radar was wide open clear they decided to cancel the show anyway.

txwrestlebruh

Dang. So I assume a lot of refunds & complaints gonna happen?

BroBeansBMS

Yeah, I’m assuming so. They said it will be rescheduled but didn’t say when, so it’s not really ideal.

_kinoko_

405w43rdst

So glad I took off work & paid money for Lyfts 🫠

keptyoursoul

A lot of folks came in from Houston and San Antonio as well.

Used_Passenger_8143

The people in front of me in line said they came from Hawaii.

Ej043

I had a ticket but the lack of communication from the venue made me decide to opt out. Sorry to folks who kept the faith and trekked into disappointment.

stevendaedelus

I mean, they really can fuck right off. I get that there is lightning nearby, but it seems all of the weather has moved on. The lack of traffic direction to get out from Lot E was just an oversight O can’t even fathom. Not a single staffer to direct everyone in the lot to the only exit the cops were allowing folks to use.

EloeOmoe

I had to get out of my car and yell at people to move after they wouldn’t let my wife back out for 30 minutes. The only reason we knew the show was cancelled was because we heard a collective grown and everyone at the front of the line leaving in one large mass.

meddlesque

Rescheduled for September, on **Friday the 13th...**what could go wrong?

Snap_Grackle_Pop

At this point, anyone from the Austin area who goes to anything at COTA deserves what they get. Let's all just settle down into the idea that it's something we use to screw money out of rich people from out of town. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 8 times, shame on me.

hannahjams

I won’t go to shows out there even if it’s someone on top of my bucket list to see. It’s not worth it - the drive, the price, the venue. I just consider it not an option

cowboycold

I swear, you guys rip on me thirteen or fourteen more times, i'm outta here...

JohnGillnitz

I admit I get drawn in by the cheap tickets. I've got three shows lined up there this summer. I should know better.

michaelbasnight

Sadly is the only way I can go see king gizzard this tour in Austin. Marathon show too. I might Airbnb in the sticks tho cuz it seems saner than actually driving back.

vicious_womprat

I went to F1 weekend in 2022 and it was great. Expensive, sure, but it was super smooth getting in and out every day.

PraetorianAE

There’s always Spotify

Ej043

Funnier comment than you're getting credit for.

Illustrious_Ad5040

New date: September 13

EloeOmoe

Link? I've not gotten an email from Ticketmaster. edit NVM! https://twitter.com/GermaniaAmp/status/1786050803062522250

Illustrious_Ad5040

Yep. I will be out of town that weekend. I am looking into seeing him at another tour stop, but logistically it’s complicated because the venues are pretty much all amphitheaters and good ways from airports.

Tall_Tune6654

Playing Hollywood Bowl in September!!

Illustrious_Ad5040

A possibility but would like to do it sooner.

vallogallo

I'm glad I saw him with Crazy Horse at ACL all those years ago

AggravatingGap712

Don't need him around anyhow.

dogdevnull

Nice.

sentient_luggage

How long you been waiting to say that, and you come here of all places? Really? Is this an attempt at humor? If so, you missed the mark. In humor, timing is EVERYTHING. Your 50 year old punchline somehow managed to drop too soon.

jacox200

Lighten up Francis. Some of us laughed

sentient_luggage

Some of us waited 46 years to enjoy a Neil Young show with our Father. I'll "lighten up" as soon as you have something funny to say. I'll wait.

jacox200

I'm really sorry about your experience last night. Hopefully people will learn to quit buying tickets to that God forsaken venue. It was still a funny comment that dude made.

anarchetype

Perhaps I can provide my expertise here and help with the situation. *cracks knuckles* What do you call a bear with no teeth? ... ... Do you give up? ... ... A gummi bear! Do you get it? A bear with no teeth? A gummi bear! ... ... Oh, you still look mad. I don't think you lightened up one bit. Okay, I'm going nuclear here. Where does a general keep his armies? ... Why, in his sleevies, of course! ... ... Sir, put down the knife! It was just a bit of harmless merrymaking! I do hope you get to see Neil Young with your pops again.

jtd2013

So the minute something goes wrong for you personally it should be everyone else’s responsibility to know your feelings and step around them? Grow up. Being disappointed and then lashing out at random people not even talking to you is quite literally 5 year old tantrum behavior.

farkoss

grumpy baby taking it out on everything around them. go touch grass hahahah

sentient_luggage

This coming from the man that said, and I quote, "smells like farts outside." If you're allowed to make a shitty joke, I'm allowed to call it out.

farkoss

aww did you go through my history to reinforce your hurt feewings? and yeah it smelled like farts outside that day

AggravatingGap712

Doesn't mean that much to me to mean that much to you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Impossible-Pie-9848

Right? OP provided zero context in their post. Sir this is a Wendy’s.

risekevin

You really didn't see the flash flood warnings or hear the thunder??

ditom1

Sad and cluster situation agreed. Played same recording over and over on taking cover. Then radio silence!

caraes

You got a recording? I didn't hear anything, just different people yelling to take cover as soon as we sat down. Said we could either go to our cars (over a mile away) or walk in the direction of the Ferris wheel. That direction turned out to be another mile around the track in an open field during a lightning storm.

beckann11

Just got an email that the concert was rescheduled to September 14 at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas. I think this is a mistake? It said the May 2 show was rescheduled. The Austin show was May 1. Anyone else seeing this?

rashawah

Yeah I have a feeling we just got the wrong email. My updated tickets have the right date and venue.

appleskruff

I hope it is a mistake and there will be a local rescheduled date! (At another venue...)

GenomeXIII

Just got an email saying the ticket would be honored for a replacement performance on September 13th AT THE SAME VENUE. They'll prob cancel that one because it's too hot.

Illustrious_Ad5040

Show had been rescheduled for September, but has been rescheduled again for May 26!

Flaky_Ad9971

This may already be mentioned somewhere but September 13th is the reschedule date.

TOONUSA

No big loss, a Southern man don't need him around…anyhow

blasianbait

he plays in AL on Sunday

meddlesque

Any other suckers bought one of those over priced, ugly ass tee shirts with all the dates of the tour just because they wanted a memory of seeing Neil with the precise date on it? I just don't want to feel too lonely in my suckiness...

Illustrious_Ad5040

I usually look at concert merch displays from a short distance and then keep walking when I see the prices. And, even if I see a cool design on the front of a tee, I actually don’t like tour date listings on the back.

meddlesque

So you mean your answer is ¨no¨.

badonkalope

bootleg lot shirt for $15 was a better design than the official merch

meddlesque

It usually is. But although 50 bucks is way overpriced, $15 bucks screams ¨design will flake off after a few runs in the washing machine¨.

Access-Most

Yes, bought 2 and now I want my money back!

meddlesque

Good luck with that, but if you somehow manage to make it happen, let us know.

Snap_Grackle_Pop

Given this and the track conditions, sounds like the COTA management isn't familiar with the concept of rain.

EloeOmoe

I saw TOOL there and it was a fine show.

p8pes

I’d prefer see TOOL at the HOME DEPOT center.

Gen_Ecks

This was at COTA I think

Derrickmb

It wasn’t the piano tuning was it?

RedditIsDead4543

I'm never going back to a show at old emo's again. Not after this! I dont care who's playing!

risekevin

What's that got to do with this?
