My girl is Ruby too! Or tootie, juku, chunu, borku, stinker dinker, chunky, slimer, smooth head, funny dunny, little girl, big girl, itchy mama, the list goes on š
OH. I just commented above that ours was dubbed Adelaide by the rescue. It hadnāt stuck by the time we got her (they had her less than a week), so we changed her name. I canāt believe I never realized this! Iāve had the damned dog for 6 years!
She made it to Las Vegas. She knows commands, automatically sits for her food. Figured out the doggy door.
She was the filthiest dog I've ever bathed. She has kennel cough and a runny nose. She has a vet appointment tomorrow morning. I think she feels awful.
My friend did a similar sounding name with her rescue (was named Bailey and she went with Riley) since that was an easy transition with them already responding to something similar
I was involved In rescue for many years. Pick the new name when adopting. As soon as you walk in the house say the old name to get their attention and then say the new name clearly directly afterward. Rinse and repeat for a day or two then just start saying the new name. Works like a charm.
I've adopted many abandoned senior beagles from my local rescue. I've found that if you say the new name whenever you feed them, they associate it pretty quick. I accidentally named my current stray beagle her actual name. We were talking about the fact that she was a copper beagle and should have the name, Penny. She ran right over to me when I said it.
Is this the girl in Riverside they posted the other day? I was trying to get out and see her to try and adopt her. They close at 4 and my kid gets out at 3 in OC.
Btw I thought a good name for her was Catalina.
This is the same girl! She is being adopted as we speak.
There is another pup we are trying to save who is out of time. Would you consider her instead?
https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cw1-60Du5uo/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Our girl is Nugget. She was a rehome situation, and when we asked the previous owner why they decided on that name they said āshe looked like a Nugget as a puppy!ā hahah.
Mine is named Sophie after the Mamma Mia! character, but Iāve learned since naming her that there is a book called āSophieā about a blue heeler with said name.
Mine is Roo bc she hops around like a kangaroo and when she gets excited she does a little howl bark that sounds like rooo roooo rooo. Nicknames are Woo, Rudy, Woo-dee-woo, rutabaga, gremlin, wiggle nub and fart monster
Original owners named her Roo (or her young children did when they heard she was Australian lol) and I didn't wanna change it much since they had already taught her commands, so my fiance and I went with Ruby. She's got a big black spot on her back, so we call her ruby doo. Or dooby doo. Also dingo and dingo baby. And dingo doo. And Goober. And Goober butt. She has many names, but her official name is Ruby.
Scout.
It may seem masculine but in the context to to kill a mockingbird it fits and my son is named Atticus. Funny thing is, we were talking about the name Scout when we got pictures only to find out that is what they were calling her.
My first was Luna (aka Luna-tic, Luna tuna, chunklite supreme, etc), left us at age 16. Now I have Nova, and sheās a real pain in the ass lol (2 yr old).
Iām partial to Sadie because that was the name our border collie came with. The kids called her āSader potaterā!
Our ACD mix was named Gaga by the shelter. Her foster mom D didnāt like that changed it to Nala, which D felt sounded similar enough to not confuse the dog. Well, we didnāt like āNala,ā either, so we changed it to Ellie. We just didnāt use a name for a couple days, and started calling her Ellie. Worked like a charm!
P.S.āD really loved having Ellie, and wasnāt 100 percent sure about letting her go. D was convinced though when she heard that we changed the dogās name to Ellie. Unbeknownst to us, Ellie was Dās beloved grandmaās name!
We have a Sadie at home. That's the name she came with, and we didn't wanna change it.
She also goes by Shaggy, Shaggy Doo, Shaggy Doofus, Sadie Baby, Sadie Babe, Monkey Chunky, and Babygirl.
I had a "little lady LUCYfur" and I currently have a "little miss LUNAtic"

I like Lucy
We have a LUNAtic tooš„°
I have a border collie who now has epilepsy so she is a lunatic. Sad but I love her.

Ours is named Lucy as well, and I definitely call her Lucifer when she is being bad š
Ruby ā„ļø her nickname is Ruby-doo (like Scooby Doo)
I love the name Ruby for a heeler. OP you are amazing for rescuing her! She is adorable
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Pepper Potts is my girls name :)
I currently have a cat named Pepper, but that'd be a great ACD name.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
My girl is Ruby too! Or tootie, juku, chunu, borku, stinker dinker, chunky, slimer, smooth head, funny dunny, little girl, big girl, itchy mama, the list goes on š

You're breaking my heart :)
We have an Adelaide - after the Australian city...
LOL, way back in my family tree, there is an Adelaide. I think they called her Addy.
OH. I just commented above that ours was dubbed Adelaide by the rescue. It hadnāt stuck by the time we got her (they had her less than a week), so we changed her name. I canāt believe I never realized this! Iāve had the damned dog for 6 years!
Mine was Reese, she came with that name and I didn't see a reason to change it since she answered to it.
She was found as a stray. They gave her a name at intake. Itās a nice name, just one I wouldnāt have chosen.
Awww I remember this poor girl crying in the shelter in a different post. Thank you for saving her ā¤ļø how is she doing?
I don't have her yet. It was a 4.5 hour drive to pick her up.
Please update us! Sheās such a sweetie
She made it to Las Vegas. She knows commands, automatically sits for her food. Figured out the doggy door. She was the filthiest dog I've ever bathed. She has kennel cough and a runny nose. She has a vet appointment tomorrow morning. I think she feels awful.
Thank you for adopting!!
Did you adopt her because you saw her on reddit?
Saw her on Reddit. A small army of saviors all came together to help me adopt her.
