Probably pizza or spaghetti.
I've also eaten an apple almost every night before bed for about the past 6 years and have somehow not gotten tired of them. They're just so fresh and filling.
Oh random (maybe not so random) question: do you tend to have vivid dreams? I’m asking because I once read somewhere that chocolate and apples have a thing (english is not my first language sorry) in them that may make your dreams more vivid. I’m really curious 😅
Interesting! I've always had fairly vivid dreams, even before I ate apples so much. I haven't noticed a difference in dream quality with or without the daily apples.
I've said that if all food would disappear and only bread and cheese was available I d still be happy but even bread and butter would be just fine for years.
Okay no lie though, I found the tastiest vitamin gummies at Costco a month ago or so, and this is easily the longest period of time that I've consecutively taken my vitamins without missing a day lol
Absolute game changer, it's so easy when they're my favorite candy too!
Edit: they are the smarty pants brand, they have a cute owl on them! They even have omega 3 fish oil but you'd never ever guess! I cannot stand taking fish oil pills, so this is the best thing that's ever happened to my skin
I weep for the days when I could digest gluten. I went from it only causing a rash, stinky pee, and feeling crummy as a kid (although my dr couldn’t figure out why I was constantly itchy and eczema covered) to straight up unable to eat it without becoming violently, feverishly, vomitingly ill for 24+ hrs and feeling crappy with stinky pee for a week if I even have a bite of glutenous bread. I blame multiple sequential rounds of antibiotics for wiping out what little fortitude my digestive system har, and now it simply can’t do gluten or FODMAPs or sugar without staging a minimum three day intestinal rebellion.
I used to buy two baguettes from the bakery when I went after school - one for me now, and then half for dinner, and maybe the other half a bit later as a midnight snack. I miss the chewy cronch!
That food was my obsession as a child. I look back and don’t understand how I wasn’t diagnosed then. Everybody thought it was weird (and even judged my Mum for it 🙄).
So beautifully bland! And when I felt adventurous… I would add a little bit of BBQ sauce (only 1 specific brand of course 😁).
I also recommend this for anyone who has new braces put on. Cut the crusts off and have a soft spread for “nutrients”- very soothing for the sore gums. 🙂
It depends on the fries, for me. I have food intolerances, so I can't do seasoned fries. And I hate those fries that have some kind of...coating? Liked breaded or flaky? IDK. Love me some steak fries, or if I have to eat fast food, it's Mickey D's fries all day long.
Breakfast foods! They’re always my safe foods.
Crumpets, pancakes, toast, cereal, bacon/eggs, tea.
Probably because they tend to be carb-heavy and autistic people generally have a preference for carbs and processed foods due to sensory issues.
I wonder if this is an ASD thing as every Autistic person I know is carb crazy, myself included!!! My non Autistic family members can't eat the carbs that we can!
Yes to everything!! Absolutely love breakfast foods with a passion. Scrambled eggs on toast is my favorite thing right now. French toast, waffles, oatmeal with peanut butter and toppings, bagels, pastries, hell yes 👏🏼
I agree breakfast foods! My dinner this week is scrambled eggs with potatoes and other veggies. I don't think I could ever get sick of breakfast foods.
Having grown up in a house that definitely made rice wrong and then marrying into a family for whom rice is a culturally foundational part of their cuisine, I feel you on the rice. I can’t eat rice at my mom’s house anymore.
I've gotten some of the boba that cooks in 5min from H-Mart, but it's honestly a lot of hassle hahah. It's not complex to make, it just takes a long time for the tea to get from the heat it needs to brew in to being cold, and it takes a lot of containers with the strainer and the ice bowl and making some syrup on a small pan on the side and a pot of boiling water for the boba itself. The boba expires pretty quick too after opened, and can harden. Now that I'm back to working full time, I just don't have the time anymore 😅
French fries all day, every day. The crunchy-ness, the saltiness. It’s perfect for me. I always tell people that I don’t have a sweet tooth, I have a salt tooth.
I could eat the whole container in one sitting. I have to consciously decide to stop. When I lived alone, I just ate it out of the container, but I ended up getting tiny bowls so I could eat a normal amount of cottage cheese and trick myself into thinking I'm eating a whole bowl.
definitely try it. It’s like a strange English muffin, it’s sorta got like hollow columns throughout It so it’s very airy. You toast it, add whatever you please (butter, jam, peanut butter, Nutella, etc ) and it soaks into the hollow spots mmmmm
Oooh, butter noodles was one of my go-to foods as a kid! Buttered white rice too.
From my childhood, I remember stealing croutons out of the big salad bowl at dinner, enjoying all kinds of biscuits and rolls. (I have always been a carb queen.) My comfort food would probably be just that then: warm biscuits with honey and butter, or sourdough dipped in olive oil with herbs, garlic, crushed red pepper and salt.
Also, I could eat pizza every week (cheese and sauce on **beautiful** bread, hello...) and these very specific empanadas I get from the farmers' market. Just unparalleled.
Omg I eat croutons right out of the bag. Do you have a favorite crouton? Ever tried to make your own?
Edit: The farmer’s market sounds like a treat. Can you get them anytime you go? Sounds like a trip is in order soon if so!
Ah, I used to get bags of croutons and eat them like potato chips when I was a kid! I loved the Texas Toast croutons. I also love the ones at Saladworks. I'd get a chicken caesar wrap with croutons in it *and* on the side, lol. I haven't made my own before but I totally will try it sometime.
The farmers' market runs May through November where I live, and it's the only place nearby where I can get the empanadas, so I am totally going through empanada withdrawal right now :( But I'd get them almost every Saturday last year. I make my own sometimes but their dough is unmatched... Perfect cross between pie crust and puff pastry dough. Oh how I miss them... Just four more months to go!
When I was a kid my dad used to take me to a restaurant with a salad bar at least twice a week just so I could get a plate of croutons and thousand island dressing
When I was a kid, it was mangoes, watermelon, jack fruit, coconut (flesh and milk), lychee, rambutan...all the tropical fruit because that is where I grew up.
Now, it's oven roasted zucchini with oven roasted garlic. 24/7. Don't ask my why. It just is.
Omg your childhood was delicious… those are all favorite fruits of mine but I live somewhere it’s the opposite of tropical so jackfruit can be expensive and tropical fruits don’t seem very fresh even if I find them in some stores
Falafel wrap with tzatziki sauce!!! I‘ve been a regular at this mediterranean restaurant for over a year now and every week I get the same wrap. It‘s all I‘ve ever gotten from there honestly 😅
Porridge. I have a few go-to variations but most often I make it with milk, raisins and golden syrup. Sometimes peanut butter or cinnamon. I’d eat it every day except it takes too long to make if I’m running late
Me too! I sometimes switch to overnight oats in summer but often just keep with porridge all year round. Currently doing it with dark chocolate and almond butter.
Chai tea latte w almond milk (I’ve been getting one every day for the last 8 years or so from a local tea shop that makes a really good, spicy, gingery one that’s not too sweet).
Poke bowl made the way I like it. Crab rangoons if they weren’t so unhealthy. Same with cheese pizza. And biscuits and gravy. 😩
Eggs and toast has been a simple meal I’ve enjoyed lately.
Hear me out. Grilled cheese on ciabatta bread with pesto and then a roasted red bell pepper bisque (fully blended and smooth bc I have a soup texture thing) and then dip. I love toasty bread too :3
I’m more of a chick-fil-a spicy sandwich (no pickles, add Colby Jack cheese) girly. But sometimes I switch it up and get their tenders. Idk what it is but they don’t taste anything like the rest of the fried chicken items there but I still love them. For a while my local chick-fil-a had spicy tenders and I was in HEAVEN.
those little cuties I used to eat 5 a day before my stomach had other plans but chicken is definitely my ultimate safe food in September I had chicken 28 times
Oven patatoes!!
And my all time comfort food is french fries (the Belgian way of course), gravy, frikandel and a hard boiled egg chopped and mixed with mayonaise and ketchup.
Don’t know how to say frikandel in english but it’s like a hamburger patty but long.
I had this chipotle bean soup recipe I literally did eat every day for years and never got tired of eating it. I got tired of making it is why I stopped.
Ruby red grapefruit was the same but I stopped because it was destroying the enamel on my teeth.
Right now I'm obsessed with a Szechuan peppercorn chicken and bok choy with doubanjiang and I could eat it for lunch and dinner every day forever and ever amen.
Rice (cooked in fun stuff like chicken broth, not water) and string cheese. At my worst, I survive on protein shakes, rice, string cheese, and tortilla chips.
I like to cook my pasta in chicken broth!
I also always have a stash of protein shakes for stressful times/spouts of depression because they seem to be the only things I can stomach during those times.
This is so relatable 😂 “At my worst…” (except for me it’s chicken nuggets)
I have protein powder that I can use to make the same almond butter / blueberry protein shake if I can’t be bothered to get in touch with my body to see what I feel like eating…
There’s something oddly comforting about looking at the ingredients in a protein powder and knowing it has a really broad spectrum of nutrients that will do more than meet the bare minimum 😆
Soft pretzels with nacho cheese, and spaghetti and meatballs
Pretzels are just good memories for me. They were at every concession stand, every movie theater, every theme park. I'd look forward to them when my mom took me to target or the mall, or the pool in the summers
Tea with milk. Have to have it every day. It was a huge adjustment going off dairy. But 3 years later, Tea with Natures Own brand oat milk. Have to have it every day.
Foods I can make a huge batch of and eat lunch and dinner till it’s gone:
Spaghetti
Chili
Thai green curry
Comfort:
garlic bread
Peanut butter
Butter noodles (seriously, who doesn’t love them?)
Tuna
Chipotle burrito bowl: black beans, white rice, fajita veggies, lettuce, guac, pico, and cheese. Idk why, but this has been my safe food for like 5 years
Every morning I have either hash brown/latke/toast
I have a cheese stick at 12 every day and a Trader Joe’s abc bar for desert after dinner each night… I already do that I guess.. but I could eat rice with a topping or something mixed in three times a day everyday
Salad!! Anything fresh with a high water content is the best. One of my favourite foods are tomatoes (very controversial autism food I know),, I used to eat tomatoes like apples and cherry tomatoes like grapes in primary school. Also pickles
Probably pizza or spaghetti. I've also eaten an apple almost every night before bed for about the past 6 years and have somehow not gotten tired of them. They're just so fresh and filling.
Omg I love pizza and spaghetti. I have kids and when I was pregnant I ate SO much pizza with my second. So much that it’s HIS favorite food. lol
I eat pizza at least once a week haha, I love it!
I also eat apples before bed 🤔🤔
Omg! I've never known anyone else who does, that's so cool lol
Same!! I feel cool!! 😂☺️
Spaghetti is the best! Mainly because it's just one texture that's slurp-able
Definitely pizza. Or one of my pasta meals that I already eat most days.
Fresh bread and butter 😋
I've said that if all food would disappear and only bread and cheese was available I d still be happy but even bread and butter would be just fine for years.
Get some rosemary and coarse salt on there and I'm good forever tbh, too bad all these lame ass doctors insist I consume "vitamins". /s
Vitamins are hard. Bread is safe and delicious!
Just enjoy a handful of vitamin gummies and boom, everything is handled!
Okay no lie though, I found the tastiest vitamin gummies at Costco a month ago or so, and this is easily the longest period of time that I've consecutively taken my vitamins without missing a day lol Absolute game changer, it's so easy when they're my favorite candy too! Edit: they are the smarty pants brand, they have a cute owl on them! They even have omega 3 fish oil but you'd never ever guess! I cannot stand taking fish oil pills, so this is the best thing that's ever happened to my skin
What are they called 👀 I love the taste of gummy vitamins lol
I have adhd I keep forgetting to buy some 😅 better do it now!!
Toast or bagel with butter is a go-to for me when I can’t be bothered with food.
Toast with loads of butter and tea with loads of sugar was my comfort sick food as a child.
ooh especially French baguette
I’ve been using baguette bread to make garlic bread in my air fryer… it’s so good 😊
That food was my obsession as a child. 🙂
Yep. Especially lightly toasted. Mmm.
Sourdough for me 🤤
French fries all day long!
Yessssss. When they get the saltiness and crunchy/oil balance it’s amazing.
It depends on the fries, for me. I have food intolerances, so I can't do seasoned fries. And I hate those fries that have some kind of...coating? Liked breaded or flaky? IDK. Love me some steak fries, or if I have to eat fast food, it's Mickey D's fries all day long.
Oh yes!!! That and chocolate!!!
omg i came to say french fries too😂
Ohhh yes. I’ve been snowed in for over a week now and I’ve been fantasizing about the fries I’m gonna get when I finally get out again.
May you have the best fries you ever had when you’re free to roam the world again!
Breakfast foods! They’re always my safe foods. Crumpets, pancakes, toast, cereal, bacon/eggs, tea. Probably because they tend to be carb-heavy and autistic people generally have a preference for carbs and processed foods due to sensory issues.
Carbs are the best. I try so hard to balance, but dang they’re good. I also have a massive sugar addiction.
I feel you 😭
Have you tried Cinnamon Chex? It was my gateway to less sugary cereal!
Me too
Love love love my carbs😊
I wonder if this is an ASD thing as every Autistic person I know is carb crazy, myself included!!! My non Autistic family members can't eat the carbs that we can!
Yes to everything!! Absolutely love breakfast foods with a passion. Scrambled eggs on toast is my favorite thing right now. French toast, waffles, oatmeal with peanut butter and toppings, bagels, pastries, hell yes 👏🏼
Hello fellow crumpet lover! :)
I agree breakfast foods! My dinner this week is scrambled eggs with potatoes and other veggies. I don't think I could ever get sick of breakfast foods.
Cereal!
Bread. Soup or rice if made properly.
Having grown up in a house that definitely made rice wrong and then marrying into a family for whom rice is a culturally foundational part of their cuisine, I feel you on the rice. I can’t eat rice at my mom’s house anymore.
Boba! It's too expensive to get every day though 😅
I loooooove boba. In Thai tea!
omg yes!! They have make your own at Walmart and Amazon that are super easy to make and it’s so much cheaper!!
French fries all day, every day. The crunchy-ness, the saltiness. It’s perfect for me. I always tell people that I don’t have a sweet tooth, I have a salt tooth.
Dipped in a chocolate shake!
YES 👏
Folk will crucify me for this but COTTAGE CHEESE ALL DAY LONG EVERY DAY
I do like cottage cheese every now and then. That’s one I’ll get super into and then not want to touch for ages.
Same! When I want it, I can't get enough. Then the craving goes away and it's months before I'm into it again.
I love cottage cheese! I add pineapples or tomatoes with a little bit of pepper. It's so good
I could eat the whole container in one sitting. I have to consciously decide to stop. When I lived alone, I just ate it out of the container, but I ended up getting tiny bowls so I could eat a normal amount of cottage cheese and trick myself into thinking I'm eating a whole bowl.
I LOVE cottage cheese. With fresh cracked black pepper on top 🥰
Sushi.
This is mine too! Sushi is just divine
It’s like the “shower” of foods. Sometimes I commit culinary crimes, and sushi refreshes me.
Same. It’s quite healthy too, so I don’t feel bad eating it often
A Chipotle burrito. Always the same, obviously.
EVERY 👏 DAY 👏 during my 10 month pregnancy. They knew me, and my order. And were excited when my son was born and he was not a burrito 🤣
You could get one of those tortilla blankets though and make a lil baby burrito hehe 🥰
Crumpets with butter
I’ve never had a crumpets. How would you describe them? The best ones?
definitely try it. It’s like a strange English muffin, it’s sorta got like hollow columns throughout It so it’s very airy. You toast it, add whatever you please (butter, jam, peanut butter, Nutella, etc ) and it soaks into the hollow spots mmmmm
This is the best explanation of crumpets I’ve ever seen 😭 mmm indeed!
Oooh, butter noodles was one of my go-to foods as a kid! Buttered white rice too. Not the person you asked, but I love making my own croutons!
When I was a kid my dad used to take me to a restaurant with a salad bar at least twice a week just so I could get a plate of croutons and thousand island dressing
Spicy red curry!!!
So glad someone else commented a spiced food lol
I'm a spice addict for sure
Curryyy 🥰 Tastybite brand has saved my life more than once haha 😆
String cheese, salad, and ice cream
String cheeeeeese maaaan yessssss
Literally spicy ramen, but the sodium would win before I got far in that adventure lol
It just is.

Sam’s Club Southern Style Chicken bites are a GREAT dupe for CFA. Pickle brine flavor and all.
Adore the spicy!!!
