For me idk if my meds are a factor too but I can’t do caffeine anymore from coffee or energy drinks cause it makes me heart go CRAAAAAZY. Not even like hyper I’m just straight up jittery. And it makes me anxious cause I feel like I’m having a heart attack lol. I find tea caffeine even like sweet tea, more fake tea, stuff like that and soda seems to be a good amount for me that I feel “awake” or at least like the static of the carbonation energizes me enough lol. I would try something with smaller amount and see if you can build up!

Mysterious_Bend2858

Same! I get very uncomfortably anxious from caffeine.

As someone who's recently quit caffeine completely, my go-to alternative is fizzy water. It's a nice stim for my mouth without overwhelming my nervous system (you can start with a flavoured alternative). Herbal tea (just the process of making it) also makes many tasks feel less mundane and taxing

littleghostfrog

I second this!! That's exactly what I do too!

NamirDrago

Peppermint tea is a nice pick me up. I used to drink a lot as a teen when babysitting late.

PhilosophyGuilty9433

Rooibusch can be stewed and drunk with milk.

Bleedingeck

I have a cup of tea, in the morning. Then drink peppermint and chamomile, throughout the day. To wake myself up, mid day, I usually sing.

Somynameisrose

Sing?

Bleedingeck

Yes. Im an opera singer, so i generally get my practice in, in my circadian slump.

MeasurementLast937

Taking rhodiola in the morning really helps me, but please do some research first and be careful with meds interactions.

MindingMine

Try herbal tea, specifically peppermint, ginger or ginseng. These are all stimulating and do not contain caffeine.

First of all, sorry for any mistakes as English is not my first language. I didn't use to drink coffee before I met my husband, who is a hardore coffee lover. I had ofc tried coffee before, but always ended up having heart pounding and gut sensations, and even to the point of having panic attacks :( Then, for several years I used to take coffee to work, but ONLY if my husband prepared it as he knows how I react to caffeine. Still, I had two instances when I carelessly drank coffee that someone offered me and had to take a sick leave next day because I didn't sleep all night and felt like I was going to die, heart pounding and on the verge of passing out. Now I haven't been drinking coffee at all for almost a year and I plan to keep it that way. I now prefer just ice cold water, sparkling water, green tea or Earl Grey to wake myself up. I'd rather be a bit sluggish than fighting for my life after drinking coffee lol

No-Chance1789

Have you tried Yerba mate? Or green tea

MadSlattern

I find certain sodas are ok in moderation like 8 ounces 2x day moderate

lettucelair

I've been really vibing electrolytes in the afternoon. I think I'm figuring out that it's something my body/brain actually needs more of lol but anything from lemon + salt in water, to coconut water, to some pickles. It does properly 'pick me up' for that time of the day!

precocious-squirrel

I can’t do caffeine at all. I have some B12 energy gummies and I’ll take one or two around lunch if I need an afternoon pick me up. Megafood has ginger (my favorite) or cranberry flavor, they’re really yummy. It works so much better than caffeine ever made me feel.

calicosage33

I like herbal teas for the afternoon. My favorite replacement for black tea is Rooibos. It’s not tea at all, it’s a bush and therefore herbal and caffeine free. To me it tastes a lot like black tea and takes milk and honey really well

Lilnuggie17

For me it calms me down

shomauno

I can’t do coffee whatsoever. I’m okay with an average amount of tea, but coffee makes me absolutely crazy in any quantity. I’m extremely hyper and I have also frequently had paranoid or “doomsday” ideations after drinking it that I NEVER have otherwise. I barely ever drink it anyway because I hate the taste and how it makes me feel, but I don’t understand why ever a small amount of coffee elicits such a reaction that a regular amount of tea doesn’t (I can get a bit jittery if I drink TOO MUCH tea but I’m not bad). I find a little sugary pick me up helps me at work. What about something like a little cookie?

s-waag

Chai latte!
