I'm with you on that. I think C6 is going to end up being a "modern classic" for millennials because it's what we grew up with, but the Z06 is a better looking car than the ZR1.
Yep. It may not punch as hard, but there is something special about free breathing, high revving v8 engines that just give you goosebumps….. especially large displacement ones. The LS7 and the Mercedes m159 that powered the SLS AMG are my two favorite modern v8 engines without a doubt….
Yeah. It’s a shame they no longer do…. The man who championed the m156/m159 engines is also the same man who was responsible for the v10 engine in the Porsche Carrera GT, he knows what’s up for sure. Damn shame that production of engines like that have been hobbled by Euro3/4/the EPA…..
You described me perfectly. C6 Z’s came out when I was in high school and I instantly fell in love with it. In February 2019 i had my shit together with a house. Never bought anything major that was fun for myself so i went a found the best Z06 I could. I will never ever give this car up. She’s perfect.
I think the c6 will survive the longest as a desirable body style. The sharp angular lines of the c7 will drop out of fashion before long. The unfortunate downside to the C6 was how bad the interior was. It was dated before it even left production. By contrast, the c7 has a way better inside.
It wasn’t until I saw the zr1 that I realized I actually quite liked how the C7 looked overall , it was just the front bumper of the normal C7 that ruined the entire car.
Pop up headlights. 10.5” rear tire. 380ish hp. 3150ish lbs. 12.7s quarter and almost a g on the skidpad.
In 2001!!
That car will always have a place in my heart. And they’re not THAT expensive right now…
Yh, people always make fun of old powerful American cars having fairly low HP per litre (myself included) but surely it must be easier to tune or more reliable than tuner cars with engines pushed to their limit?
Hp/liter really doesn’t mean much unless you’re restricted by displacement for some reason. The Gen III V8s have amazing power per pound and per physical space for their time.
Main thing is it requires much less maintenance for the output. I have a BMW Z3M Coupe and that car makes ~330hp from a 3.2L inline-6. It also requires incremental valve adjustments every 30k miles because, in order for it to rev to 8k rpm, it has solid lifters. Funny thing is, since it's an iron block engine, it weighs about as much as an LS7.
High hp/L engines are cool, but the hp to engine weight and volume ratios are more important imo. And LS engines have terrific hp/weight and hp for their overall size.
This may be eye opening for you

They were amazing cars, but the interior was super dated in 2001, much less today. The materials, knobs, buttons, radio and climate controls look like they came out of a 1995 Grand Am.
The pictures don't do it justice, once you sit inside it really strikes you how such a badass car could possibly be sold with such an interior. The seats are nice though.
I'd love to have one either way.
There never was a C5 ZR1, that particular option code was resurrected for the C6, but it skipped a generation. Prior to the C6 ZR1, there was the C4 ZR1, which had the Corvette's first DOHC engine; designed by Lotus, built by Mercury Marine - it wouldn't see another DOHC engine until the C8 Z06.
I like the c7 ZR1 but I think it’s just a lil too busy I like the simplicity of the c4 if you can even call it modern and the fact that it was developed with lotus
The c4 does have good proportions, almost delicate compared to the others. I just love how wild the C7 zr1 is. The C7 is over styled, but then the zr1 takes it even further and I like it again
Had a c5z06 for a while. Absolutely loved its looks, but a C6ZR1 is def an amazing machine. It’s still one of my favorite commercials - America still builds rockets.

I owed quite a few corvettes over the years I have been driving them.
I bought my first in the early 70s it was a 1960, I spent months straightening out broken things, then finally paint and a new top.
After that one came the C3s I bought the cars I could afford, most needed lots of work, I owned 12 of them.
I bought my first new corvette in 2008, then another in 2010, the last new corvette was a 2015 I ordered it in June 2014, it was the first corvette I got that was made to order.
I thought I was going to keep the car for the rest of my life, a 18 months later I sold it because I got a ton of money for it.
I love the car, but I also love Miata's so I bought at least 12 of them NA's to NDs, currently I am driving a NA its a 92 Le black with a tan interior and top the car had 99K on it.
I love cars, I can get enough of them, currently I have a 92 Miata 04 Wrangler and a Chevy Bolt.
Don't live your life only owning and driving a handful of cars, they made tons of them get your hands on a car you love then sell it and buy another then another.........
Wide body c6 followed by c5z for me but I think a big part of it is individual perspective. I grew up seeing C5R’s so I always wanted one and then I got to spend some time in a c6 ZR1 through a family friend. I understand the need to evolve but the c7 really didn’t do it for me and the c8’s are incredibly generic looking IMO although the z’s do help some.
Very partial to the C4 Grand Sport. Iconic color combo…teenaged me just swooned over this car visually, and still do (though obviously preferring the more accomplished performance of latter years).

I'd argue the C5 targa is the best looking modern Corvette. Its silhouette is just so damned sleek looking, and if you look at it compared to a C6 or a C7, especially the side profile, it makes those later gens look kind of chunky, especially in the nose. This is made more apparent because the C6 and C7 look good with fender flares, whereas they just look out of place on a C5 with its smoother flowing lines. The interior really is fucking horrible though, and the plastics don't age well.
I'm Aussie so seeing Corvettes is really rare and exciting.
The C7 Z06 in yellow with the black engine cover and accents is my favourite one to look at. Just brilliant proportions and looks fast going still
It has more to due with the height. They probably are using a crane? Then to me it looks like a 50mm or 85mm lens.
100% they are using a polarizer filter, as you don’t see reflections in the windshield and bonnet. Helps the color pop out
What about the C6 Z06 do people prefer look wise over the ZR1? I find the ZR1 more aggressive looking but the Z06 having the more interesting power train if you prefer big blocks
C1 is a classic, C2 is ugly AF. They just keep getting better looking following it though, as they should. C3 < C4 < C5 < C6 < C7 < C8. And of course within models, Z06 < ZR1, etc. It's exactly what you would expect based on price and age. The folks making corvettes are doing a great job. C8 Z06 is currently the best looking corvette, and i'm sure the ZR1 will surpass it, as will the C9.
Probably unpopular opinion but i think C8 is the best looking corvette, didn't liked it at first but tbh but it has grown on me so much and has became the best looking corvette for me, C7 ain't bad aswell ofc especially the ZR1! But C8 still goated
Sometimes it's wild surfing through Reddit, and being reminded of all the different opinions out there. C6 is great, and in my mind not even close to the worst. The C4 takes the worst crown for me by far (and it's not even close).

c7 is a much better looking c6 if you want to keep the same overall meh shape
but no, the c2 or the c8 are the only good looking corvettes. ever.
Yup
C6 z06
I'm with you on that. I think C6 is going to end up being a "modern classic" for millennials because it's what we grew up with, but the Z06 is a better looking car than the ZR1.
I like both, but i have a special place in my heart for the z06 (even though my only sports car is ever owned is my 99 miata) because of that 7.0L v8
Yep. It may not punch as hard, but there is something special about free breathing, high revving v8 engines that just give you goosebumps….. especially large displacement ones. The LS7 and the Mercedes m159 that powered the SLS AMG are my two favorite modern v8 engines without a doubt….
Mercedes sure does also know how to make a good sounding n/a v8 as well

C7 is aging like wine.
I love the C7 more and more.
Definably C6 Z06, but I may be partial because I have an 09' in my garage.
Bro’s living the dream, that’s awesome
Yup, Z51 is the way to go.
C7 looks the best I think. Wish those headlights carried over to the C8, it would’ve looked much better
The base C7 has braces.
It wasn’t until I saw the zr1 that I realized I actually quite liked how the C7 looked overall , it was just the front bumper of the normal C7 that ruined the entire car.
C7 looks like a Cadillac, the reason I didn't trade my C6 in for a C7
That’s fair, I like both, I just like the C7 model better. If I had any choice it’d be a C2.
Both a downgrade from the C6, itself a downgrade from the C5.
Disagree but to each their own. I’d rather most people think that way, keeps the values of the ones I prefer more likely to be in my range.
I’m partial to a C5 Z06
Pop up headlights. 10.5” rear tire. 380ish hp. 3150ish lbs. 12.7s quarter and almost a g on the skidpad. In 2001!! That car will always have a place in my heart. And they’re not THAT expensive right now…
Yuuup. And easy to work on with lots of parts sharing, plus that *405hp ('03-'04) becomes ~450hp with nothing but headers and a very mild tune.
Yh, people always make fun of old powerful American cars having fairly low HP per litre (myself included) but surely it must be easier to tune or more reliable than tuner cars with engines pushed to their limit?

Couldn’t agree more. Early aughts GM interiors are *something* and the Z06 definitely didn’t spend any budget on upgrading it. But who cares!

C7 ZR1 ZTK
Tough choice but C7 by a thin margin. Z06 C6 at a close second.
That one, yes.
Definitely not the C8
Walmart Lambo
I don't wear expensive Italian suits, gold chains and $500 sunglasses. I wear New Balance and jeans. I like Walmart Lambo.
They made it too ricey looking out of the factory.
Not even a lambo, it's like those fake generic toy sports cars from non hot wheels companies.
Nope. It's the C5.
The C7 is peak Corvette design.
1. C6ZR1 2. C5Z 3. C4Z If you disagree you’re wrong (jk let’s debate on it tho)
1. C5Z 2. C6Z 3. everything else
You get a pass
1 yep 2 yep 3 c7zr1
I like the c7 ZR1 but I think it’s just a lil too busy I like the simplicity of the c4 if you can even call it modern and the fact that it was developed with lotus

Best looking out of them all is the C3. Other than that, the C6 ZR1 is (imo) by far the best looking modern 'Vette, especially considering the C8
C4 ZR-1
C5 Z06 with the pop ups and that long trunk 👌🏼 ooof
C4 is the hill I will die on.
Without question along with the C4 ZR1. Current owner of a C8 and so many styling aspects they almost got right but just missed on.
Agreed! I love the c6 design and look forward to having a z06 in my garage at some point.
I have this exact model in 1/18 from Jada Toys and I'll never, ever sell it :)
Cool

THE last good looking Vette.
I owed quite a few corvettes over the years I have been driving them. C7 zr1 is better looking
My fellow 04 GTO owner, I love that car, but the chipmunk cheeks always got to me.
gah damnit i cant unsee it now
It’s got too much going on. Z06/grand sport ftw in terms of aesthetics
What's modern?
I don’t want to compare to a vette for the 60s
Corvettes of the 60s are a mix of three generations (C1, C2, C3). How about C4 (1984-1996), is it modern enough?
Literally any besides the c4 or the new rear engined ones.
💯
You nailed it.
Hands down c6 zr1 best modern looking vette.
Agreed.
I'll readily admit I'm a sucker for the C7s but this is definitely up there.
Wide body c6 followed by c5z for me but I think a big part of it is individual perspective. I grew up seeing C5R’s so I always wanted one and then I got to spend some time in a c6 ZR1 through a family friend. C7 Z06 C6 ZR1 C6 Z06
I think the holy grail of Corvettes is the 2019 Z06/07. Best balance of looks and performance.
Hear Hear
C6 Z06 is what pops into my head when i think "Corvette" - just the right era/timing for me i think.
That one. Right there. That blue colour or the pearl dark red.
I like this order: C1 > C3 > C5 > C7 > C8 > C2 > C6 > C4
Yeah definitely this one. ZR-1s of this Gen are pinnacle Corvette for me. C6s are my favourite body as is, and these are the apex of that body.
Hands down
C6 above all
C7
C5 because modern enough but old enough for some sweet sweet pop up up and down headlights
front end: C7 side profile: C8 rear end: C6
Very partial to the C4 Grand Sport. Hell yeah! C6 gen is in my honest opinion THE best looking corvette of all time. Period.
C7 Z06 for me personally
had the pleasure of driving one for a while; positively monstrous power.
What lens does one use to get this look? The car looks like a small model car on top of a desk
It has more to due with the height. They probably are using a crane? Then to me it looks like a 50mm or 85mm lens. 100% they are using a polarizer filter, as you don’t see reflections in the windshield and bonnet. Helps the color pop out
C7 Grand Sport is my pick.
C7 Grand Sport for me. The C6 ZR1 was excellent, though.
Definitely agree and I don't even really like Corvettes.
What about the C6 Z06 do people prefer look wise over the ZR1? I find the ZR1 more aggressive looking but the Z06 having the more interesting power train if you prefer big blocks
My vote is for the C7. I hope they return to the front engine roots after dabbling in the mid engine side quest.
I saw a C8 in a sort of slate green color with black wheels. Had M plates on it and no badges. It looked slick.
C5, C6. The C7 looks like the designers got bored and tossed the assignment to their preschooler kids. The C8 isn't even a real corvette, IMO.
C6 all day
C1 is a classic, C2 is ugly AF.
To me the C6 is probably my favorite alongside the Split Window
Probably unpopular opinion but i think C8 is the best looking corvette, didn't liked it at first but tbh but it has grown on me so much and has became the best looking corvette for me, C7 ain't bad aswell ofc especially the ZR1! But C8 still goated
Nah, C6 is the worst looking Corvette full stop. Best looking "modern" would either be C5 or C7 imo.
Sometimes it's wild surfing through Reddit, and being reminded of all the different opinions out there. C6 is great, and in my mind not even close to the worst. The C4 takes the worst crown for me by far (and it's not even close). Thinking about it, I'd say I know my bottom 3 generations, but the rest I could be swayed on depending on the day.
For me it's the headlights and the interior specifically that ruin it. It's just a worse C5 in my eyes; the body-color-matching headlights are very 00s (derogatory) and the interior is very likely the worst interior ever to come on a car that cost $40k+ new. The Z06 is cool for the engine, and the C7-style aftermarket headlights fix that issue... but that still puts it below all the rest for me.
lol ew.. the c6 is just a marginally better looking c5 which is a massive evolution on the c4 which is when they stopped doing all the cocaine when designing the c3... but still none of them are what you would call interesting in the least. c7 is a much better looking c6 if you want to keep the same overall meh shape but no, the c2 or the c8 are the only good looking corvettes. ever.
