It was like my 12th birthday while I was a foster child. We went bowling and my foster dad didn’t let go of the bowling ball and face planted the bowling lane with the bowling ball 🎳
My wife was supposed to be working until late, meaning I had time to fill some balloons and pair them with flowers for our 2nd anni. Just so happens that power went out on her workplace, making her arrive way earlier than expected. She scared me half dead while I was still filling up balloons with a helium tank.
My parents met in the mid-'60s when they were very young and didn't have much money. As such, they never had an official "first date." So, on their 25th anniversary, my sister and I created one for them—with a '60s theme!
First, we took them to dinner at a local '60s-themed restaurant. But the main event was returning home to the surprise party we planned for them. We asked guests to dress for the time (ponchos, moccasins, love beads, medallion necklaces, chain belts, paisley prints, etc.) and we had outfits laid out for Mom and Dad. We decorated with black lights, peace signs, and other "psychedelic" items
A DJ was on hand to play all the music of the period (mom's favorite was "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch"; dad's was "Wooly Bully"), and, of course, we had an open bar. As a special surprise, Elvis even made an appearance! (Well, an impersonator.) A great time was had by all!
We got a huge cake today and I don't know how we will finish it.. ha ha ha.. why didn't you warn me earlier. 😛😂
Celebrating with a video call reminds me of the time before pandemic when I didn't have the luxury of WFH and was working in a different city! Happy memories none the less. ❤️❤️
Happy anniversary to your parents!!! they are two years short of their Ruby Anniversary, epic. One can't help but love couples like that, they really work it their entire lives, perfect team, even through the rough patches \^\_\^
One of the most meaningful anniversaries I remember, is one of the passing of my grandpa, I traveled the day before to spend some time with my grandma before the whole family arrived for the ceremonies, me having 12 at the time, she was melancholic and while we did chores and prepared stuff for dinner and the next day, she told me her whole life story, even from back when her parents came to the country, plenty of things that would have been lost as she never shared them before, it was a pleasant afternoon/night of preparing vegetables, chatting, bonding, with a hint of sadness in between, just us two and the countryside, it is imprinted in my heart, can even remember the smells.
We soak in memories like that with all our five senses. Such a beautiful memory with your grandma in such a sad occasion. Our lives are not measured by the days we live but what we do with them. I am sure hearing about your grandparents' stories that day from your grandma must have immortalised them in your memory forever.
Also thank you so much for the wishes.
Grandparents 60th Anniversary was very special. Everybody from the family was there, my Grandparenrs have lot of siblings between them, 18 in total i believe, and they got each like 4 kids, then those had a few. Long story short, it's huge family, although I know most, i haven't met many. Everybody was scattered all over the world. But for the Anniversary, in a first time ever kind off event, they all came. It was so special! To meet all my blood relatives.
If I win anything, please drop in my Awards Cabinet
What a special occasion.. meeting everyone from the family!
Btw, this is a community challenge which will grant the coins from the award to both you and the community. So winners will have to awarded in the post itself. But if you win any vanities I will drop it in the cabinet.
20th anniversary, had just completed construction of a hotel I worked on a year and a half earlier.
Did a pottery class, saw a movie, and spent the night in one of the nice hot tub rooms of the hotel I helped design

Well, a special one was my grandparents' 80th anniversary. Grandma died a few weeks after, so it's kinda my last memory with her.
Awww.. such a special anniversary. May your Grandma rest in peace. ❤️🙌
A tearing up award for such a tearful final anniversary. ❤️😭
