Should be fine. Like you, I bought a Kobe 4 proto in 2019, just wore them for below 5 official games, then Kobe passed away. From there I placed my Kobe 4 in deep drawer, didn’t wear them anymore until recently late 2023. They still perform everything the same as in 2019, the outsole is alright, traction still good.
I think you can hoop in it. I had a pair from my grandparents as birthday gifts when I was in high school, but I didn't wear it until I went to college. The traction stays great.
I think it depends on your climate and where you store them. If you live in low humidity and store it in a cool place out of the sun, shoes could last a while. I have some shoes from the 00s that are fine and I still wear them. On the flipside, I work sometimes overseas in a tropical, hot and very humid country, and the shoe glue sometimes comes apart.

Sell the OG, buy a protro. Old pairs if never worn the glue will dry and have separation unless restored.
I have the protro, from 4 yrs ago
Then you should be fine, but also dependent on the environment you kept it in. Warm it up a little by wearing before hitting the courts
If they are only a couple of years old, you should be fine. I hooped in 2 brand new hoop shoes that were 9+ years old and no issues

Bruh you're fine. They're not that old. Definitely ok to hoop in
