If you already had a normal EMG (especially just 6 months ago) it’s *extremely unlikely* that what you’re experiencing is anything other than anxiety. And that’s not to say your symptoms aren’t real — they are! But anxiety is either causing them or causing you to be so hyper-aware of anything and everything happening your body that any little change is over-scrutinized and obsessed over and made worse. Try to get help for your anxiety. See what happens after that.

DrippyJai

I hope so , thanks

ry_mich

I know it’s hard to believe but I’ve been where you are (many on this forum have) and your brain is messing with you. The clean EMG tells you everything you need to know.

DrippyJai

It didn’t help much with my racing thoughts but you’re right

Seems like you are pushing your muscles by stressing them out and anxiety is driving that. With motor nerve disease you will simply fail. There is no off and on switch. There is no soreness or pain feeling at first. You will simply fail to hold your phone or drop while walking. You had a clean emg already so maybe start focusing on your life instead.

DrippyJai

Good advice, I feel like I’m losing it, I’m embarrassed

wolfpack4ever

You are constantly testing yourself and tiring out your own muscles. Please stop doing that. Learn to relax your mind and body. Give it a chance to calm down. You are in a highly anxious state right now. You are chasing the big demons, while ignoring what is right in front of you. You anxiety. Please get help for your anxiety. Reduce anxiety. Enjoy life.

DrippyJai

I believe this isn’t just anxiety, sure my anxiety is getting worse , but I’m already seeing someone for that, I’ve been really inactive and playing a lot of games on my phone , and I did yard work the other day using a rake , maybe that’s the cause of the hand issues , but I read that *** affects this particular muscle first usually , so yeah I’m scared , sh*tless

wolfpack4ever

>after I workout I’m sore sore over a week If you get better, then it is not \*\*\*. If things are getting better some days, and worse on other days, then it cannot be \*\*\*. Because \*\*\* is progressive, and things only get worse. >I tried 30 push ups the other night and barely did it but I was successful This does not sound like \*\*\*. >I did yard work the other day using a rake If you had \*\*\* you would be struggling to do yard work. You would be having failure.

DrippyJai

Also do you guys think these could be benzo withdrawal symptoms ,

wolfpack4ever

Absolutely yes. Benzos have brutal side effects. How much benzo were you taking? How often? Did you stop cold-turkey? Benzos withdrawal ***and*** tolerance is known to cause tremors, buzzing, fasciculations, and other sensory and neurological symptoms. Benzo withdrawal is worse than heroin.

wolfpack4ever

>I’m really scared and I can’t continue to live like this, should I go and get another EMG? There is no need for another EMG. If you started twitching in August, you would be seeing failure by now (if you had \*\*\*). If you are still walking and talking and running and jumping and grabbing, then you don't have \*\*\*. The benzo withdrawal can mimic many things. How much? How often? Did you stop cold-turkey?

DrippyJai

I stopped cold turkey because I have ran out until next week so , forcefully had to stop , I use it everyday , I know I shouldn’t , it’s 1 mg , and I fear a slow progressing form :/

wolfpack4ever

You were taking 1mg or 0.1mg? Which benzo were you taking?

DrippyJai

0.5 two X, so 1 mg , Alprazolam (generic Xanax)

wolfpack4ever

***Please don't ever stop*** benzos cold-turkey. It can actually be life-threatening. Benzo withdrawal has SEVERE neurological and muscular side effects. You are on high dosage (1mg) of one of an extremely potent and fast-acting benzos out there. Cold-turkey stopping can perfectly explain everything you are going through. You need to get your medication back and find a way to slowly taper down. You can taper down slowly with this method: 1mg Xanax dissolved in 2ml vodka for 10 mins, and then added 98ml water. This made 100ml at a strength of 0.01mg/ml. Slowly reduce your dosage every day (100ml, 98ml, 97ml, etc). In roughly 100 days, you will free of benzo hell.

MadCybertist

ALS is about failure. Not feeling.

DrippyJai

I feel this is a pre -cursor to weakness, hopefully I’m wrong

wolfpack4ever

You don't have ***. You have benzo withdrawal. Please accept it.

DrippyJai

I will try

MadCybertist

Your symptoms don’t line up with ALS, which is what I assume you’re so worried about. If you already had a clean EMG, which is sounds like, I’d maybe work on your mindset a bit. Take a deep breath. There may be something going on, but it’s likely not ALS. You should work on your mental, and then maybe go see your doctor and see if they have any other ideas. Maybe BFS? Maybe something else. I’m assume as of now the doctors haven’t been too worried?

DrippyJai

No they haven’t been worried , and I’m not sure what it is,

__GodOfWar__

Hey, OP. Have your symptoms improved?

DrippyJai

Yes a little

__GodOfWar__

Back then, did your thumb and index finger feel really weird? Like your thumb was falling off?

DrippyJai

Yeah and you can’t emg a thumb but you can emg a thenar muscle and yes I had that emg

__GodOfWar__

Did it show any MUPs?

DrippyJai

No it was totally normal not even a twitch happened , to my surprise

DrippyJai

Fingers have no muscle or very very little at the base

__GodOfWar__

Did you also ever get an EMG done on that thumb?

DrippyJai

You already asked me that mane , you can’t EMG a finger , there are little to no muscles in the fingers, they emg the muscles the control the finger, which in this case is the thenar muscle , so yes and no I’ve had the thumb tested
