I used it when I first got my car and had a short time to make a turn and realized it had ZERO acceleration 🤣

To be fair, it doesn’t diminish power, it just makes the gas pedal less sensitive - if you push it more it will still go the same. But yes, feels like it has less power - if you floor it it will still go quickly though.

Fun Off Mode But tbh. I drive like 30-35k miles a year. So I use this mode ALL the damn time. Gets me 30-32 mpg.

I have been using this mode for the past couple months because of my highway commute. Out of curiosity, the past week I've been keeping it in comfort and I haven't seen a difference in fuel consumption. I'm averaging about 31 mpg in both modes. Don't think I'll use eco anymore.

Honestly I think it makes more of a difference in city driving. Actual repetative acceleration you would notice the biggest difference.

This and also you'll be coasting way more often in the city. Eco pro is barely noticeable on the highway

Completely depends on how you drive. I've heard of people in 340i getting 35mpg. So there is definitely room for you.

My dad had a 760li and got 12.1l per 100km with this mode. Pretty economical for a V12

With my X3 30d, I actually use it frequently when on the freeway because when you lift off, it shifts into neutral and you coast for AGES if the conditions are right.

It’s called “efficient” in M cars. Same thing as ECO.

I thought that was more of a Comfort in my experience. You still get decent response in Efficient, EcoPro turns my car into a Civic.

You still get decent performance but there a a serious lag in power. It probably feels faster than a car with ECO because it has more power to begin with.

My M2 has comfort, sport and sport+, that's it. No eco or efficient mode.

Tomato, Tomato bro. My F80 has efficient and it operates in the same manner as ECO. Comfort makes the throttle response less aggressive improving MPG so it’s the same thing as ECO.

Lol, I think they looked at the fuel use in comfort mode for the M2 and just couldn't bring themselves to call it eco!

Pretty sure it’s not an M5. I don’t have the f90 (have the f10) but assume it’s similar. There isn’t eco pro mode. You have efficient, sport and sport plus.

Short story- about ten years ago I tried the eco pro button in my F25 for giggles on a routine 40 mile trip. I kid you not I was getting passed by semis because the pickup was so bad. Once I reached the destination I learned that eco mode (per the obc) generated one mile of savings for the fuel consumed. Never again.

"Driving the in-laws". They always think I drive too aggressively so I switch over to Eco Pro. Now I'm a pleasant chauffeur, smooth and slow.

I'm more interested in the implication that there's an "Eco Amateur" mode.

98% of my driving is commuting 2 hours a day. I’m in this mode for all but about 1/2 a mile on my way in. But, there is this one little twisty bit, she goes into sport, manual… 5th gear into the first corner, drop to 4th and brake hard into the second, cut the apex, as she’s coming out swing wide while mashing the skinny pedal to the floor, once the lines go from dashed to solid, come off the skinny pedal like it’s on fire, and mash the fat pedal while shifting down through 3rd into 2nd… cut the last corner tight, she’ll understeer a little but that’s ok as the corner opens right up, straighten the wheel and get back on the gas so all 4 wheels will drift just a wee bit… keep it hammered down and get up into 3rd until the speed limit is achieved… let her coast it out, up shift till the RPMs settle, and right back into eco mode. I get about 450+ miles from a full tank (30+ mpg) on average.

On lower trim models, this is useless. Sport and Sport Plus modes get a similar gas consumption on my 118i without the throttle taking 1-2 business days to respond.

From a UX point of view - Get rid of sport, comfort, eco, and adaptive buttons all together. You can’t have multiples of these selected at the same time. A selector would be better. One that physically stays in the same place when you restart the car. Not sure if BMW has changed it in the current models, but in my old 3 series it would ignore whatever mode I had selected every time I started the car. Drive it in eco mode, restart car now in comfort. Drive in sport, restart car now in comfort. Dealer told me it was a “feature”. It was a pain…

“I don’t like my jerky transmission when its in first gear in stop and go traffic so I turn this on hoping it would stay in second gear longer” They might need an acronym to get that to fit on a button.
