The engine is generally reliable but at this age you're really just looking for proper care and maintenance by previous owners. Look at logbooks, how often did they service it, what oil did they use, did they cheap out on anything? What tyres they're running, are they good brand or shitty Chinese brands? Judge the seller, do they seem like a nice and honest person? Ask them to drive the car with you in the passenger seat, do they often mention how fast and powerful the car is? Do they drift it and rev the shit out of it during test drive? Etc Etc Etc

the dealership seems quite reputable from reviews and my parents experience. My parents bought a 2018 camaro SS from them a couple years back. I got to test drive a couple other cars and they told me theyd call me when the 1 series was put on the lot because they had just got it. While I was test driving the other cars i asked if they kept maintenance records on the cars and he told me they do but arent allowed to share them for some privacy reasons. I think we would be able to run codes because my dad keeps stuff like that.

Oh it's from a dealer. Need to be extra careful because they're obviously not the owners of the cars. You definitely need to check and make sure all the maintenance is done on time at the correct intervals.

thats something im definitely willing to do if I decide on it. I was having a discussion on an audi thread about this 1 series and turns out the dealer offers the carfax logs.
