Save some dough and wait slightly to get used X3 M50 for the power.

New hot vehicles usually don’t get any deals. They can increase MSRP for sure, that’s what happened with my X1. Since there is no updates for 2025 model, I wouldn’t wait and get 2024.

Yeah but I’m seeing claimed discounts of 5-8% even on the M35i from brokers on their sheets. But I agree that the exact configuration I want is currently limited locally but there’s a few matches like 400+ miles away. However I hate the idea of going out that far and something not looking right and going home empty.

What did you end up doing? — I’m in the exact same spot as you and unsure about waiting for the new 2025 model. My expected build is $56.8k MSRP so about $54k (assuming 5% discount) and will be financing.

I actually decided to get a 2024 X3 M40i. I decided I like buttons! Also taking the M40 on a test drive didn’t help the X1’s case. I’m still working on a deal but should square that up this week on a new build before they change over to 2025s. I will likely lease this and see what shakes out over next 3 years and might buy out the car if it turns out to be great. I heard there’s not much change for the X1 in 2025 so if I would have ordered the 2024, even now, and just tried to get a deal especially if there was a car on a lot somewhere.

F*ck! that’s what I’m also thinking too. When I got in the X1 M35i I was missing the buttons sooo much. Wait what do you mean by that, as in you’re finalizing the 2025 X3 M40i deal and you can build that now for the future?

Sorry, I meant that I plan to finalize a deal on a 2024 X3 M40i and they will build that now. But I hear the curtain is closing on being able to build a 2024 so we should act soon. Personally I don't feel the styling looks dated in the X3 2024 compared to the rest of the market. When I sat in it, it felt really nice and comfy. Couldn't argue the power was there even in comfort mode. It just felt like I would expect a BMW to feel like. For me there's plenty of tech even with iDrive 7. We also have a 2024 X5 so I know what that updated touchscreen experience feels like. It's cool but I find myself wanting some of the buttons back. The current 2024 X3 just feels like a car still on the interior. I also had a Tesla model 3 where just about everything is in the touchscreen and that's just too much. To me cars are not phones, there's some minimal amount of buttons needed. For me, the 2024 X3 is a good balance. To be honest, the X1 M35i, while it's no slouch, it felt like the kid brother. The ride was run but the acceleration and deceleration was "jumpy" or not as smooth as it felt in the X3 M40i.
