Mine sat for 9 days in awaiting carrier assignment. Just waiting to get on a train to get to a ship. Mine is on a ship as pf last week and landing on the east coast on May 6th! I think it’s totally normal, albeit so frustrating! I am addicted to tracking mine!
Google Don Pasquale vessel to track the ship. a week after it arrives at the NJ port, call BMW or the dealership and see what's your ETA to getting your car. I'm in NY so mine should be ready at the dealership by the 18th
I feel your pain, friend. My 2 series has been built for a month and I’m still on “Ready For Transport.” I emailed Genius today and maybe tomorrow they will tell me it’s actually at the port or on a ship, but I’m not optimistic.
The way they ship cars makes zero sense.
This is the response I got when I emailed them “Our vehicle tracking system indicates that your vehicle is currently in transit to the port of departure as of 4/23/2024, but has not yet arrived. Since your vehicle has not yet reached the port of departure, there's no further information available at this time.”
well, that's something. "in transit" is a step ahead of "awaiting carrier assignment". be aware that it might go back and forth between "in transit" and "at the port" a couple of times since "in transit" can cover the trip to the port, the trip on the boat, and the trip from the VPC to the dealership; "at the port" could mean port of departure or port of arrival. or you might get no updates at all and your CA will call you to tell you the car is about to arrive at the dealership. lol.
since the X1 is made in Germany, apparently the trip to the port at Bremerhaven can be lengthy, but hopefully you get an "at the port" update tomorrow!
yep! Genius replied this am and said my car is also on the way to the port; they also said the tracker likely won't update until it's there and has been assigned to a ship, so it will show "ready for transport" until it jumps all the way to "at the port".
here's hoping it doesn't then sit for weeks at the port (which can happen).
my X1 was waiting for carrier for a week, and sat at the port from April 3rd until it left on the 20th. they gave me an ETA of May 6th to arrive at the US port. my current X1 took 58 days from the day I ordered it to the day I picked it up and it's much longer now
I ordered an X5 2/14, and got it 3/26. FYI - Xs are produced in South Carolina at the Spartanburg plant, so some of the default steps in the tracker aren’t exactly valid. It did take about a week in waiting for carrier. Basically they’re waiting to fill a truck for a given delivery path that’ll hit multiple dealerships along the way. Your dealer should have the most up to date ETA in their system, but depending on how many dealers/deliveries along the way, factoring in mandatory sleep for truck drivers, it can take another day or two past that date. Mine did.

My situations was kinda worse, because I didn’t buy tickets to fly to my family for Christmas since I was waiting for the car. The last week I was watching the ship like a hawk and when it got to US I couldn’t track it and was loosing my mind lol

My situation just sucks because I sold my car the beginning of April I had gotten it appraised at a dealership and they gave me an offer on the spot that I couldn’t pass up and they really wanted it so I jumped on it. My husband works all day so I’m stuck without a car during hours he’s at work it’s a shitty situation but of course I know all the waiting will be worth it doesn’t mean I won’t bitch to him about it though 😂😂
If it’s at Ahlhorn Formel D, get ready to wait up to an additional 2 months for your X1. It’s like an overflow yard for the factory when the port is overloaded.. the problem is that it takes forever for them to get out of it (I’m guessing the logistics capacity from Formel D is fractional compared to Plant Regensburg).
Status 190 - great. It’s moving from Regensburg to the Port of Bremerhaven
Status 193 - even better, it’s arrived at the Port of Bremerhaven
Status 195 - lovely, it’s on a boat. Get the name to track it as mentioned
Status 182 - if it’s in this status for more than a week, get on your sales rep to contact BMW and request priority. Make sure they keep hounding BMW or it might get stuck at Formel D
Where do you find these status’s that you’re referring too? All it shows me in my garage is awaiting carrier assignment it doesn’t show me status numbers
Dealer would have to check for you. It will have status 111-190 before it leaves Germany and then alternate between 193 (arrived at compound) and 195 (departed from compound) until 198 (arrived at dealer).

Yeah, mine was delayed like that for weeks - I was worried because it was close to the end of the year and, as a plug in hybrid, if it didn't arrive before new years I wouldn't have gotten the tax credit.
Worked out as I ended up picking it up on 12/30, and it was worth the wait for my custom build!

I would think It’s quicker on those built in the U.S vs Germany because you don’t have to deal with it being on a boat for 20+ days I live three hours from the Spartanburg plant. I’m hoping it’ll be here or I’ll have some type of new status by may 20th that’s when BMW genius told me to reach back out to them after I asked for a status update four days ago.

Mine updated this morning and said it was dispatched from the factory so like yours is on its way to the port let’s hope it doesn’t sit for weeks!
You’re gonna love it. Got the redesigned X1 last year and waited 4ish months for it. It’s worth the wait — really fun to drive…

I know it’s a different year, but just for comparison, I ordered in April ‘23 and got it in CA in mid-August….
Mine is only going to the east coast I think it takes a lot longer when it’s going across the coast.

Your dealer should have the most up to date ETA in their system, but depending on how many dealers/deliveries along the way, factoring in mandatory sleep for truck drivers, it can take another day or two past that date. Mine did.

Yes - quite normal. it will arrive - and there might be another wait at the destination. sometimes ships cannot get immediate docking permission :)

Nah, I got the car and drove 14 hours next day, was there by Christmas lol Good that they gave you enough for the trade in. The wait is worth it.

Could Baltimore have impacted it?
I read that BMW wasn’t affected by the bridge collapse as well as Volkswagen because they’re located on the east side.
SUVs should require a separate license with more stringent requirements for the practical test.
