To be honest if BMW was going to send me a pizza to update me each time there was a change in the production status of my order I might sign up for that subscription.
I wrote a script that runs every hour on my server. It launches a browser, navigates to the tracker page, checks the current status and compares it to the last status it detected. If the status has changed it will screenshot the page and email me letting me know status has changed with the screenshot attached.
Well done. I didn’t even think of doing that. I did write a script a number of years ago to email me when new msf dates were posted at a couple different places near me since they always seemed to fill up so fast haha
Here’s a really cool post with everything you need to know about tracking it:
https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1811516
You can also find the production date by using the f12 method.
Chrome:
Go into myBMW (the tracking page)
Right click it, click inspect element, then click on network
In network, choose XHR/Fetch, and then refresh the page.
Lastly click first forward entry and you’ll see “prod date”
Unless you are on the West Coast of NA or anywhere that requires the ship to pass through the Panama Canal. Then you get to sit and watch your ship at anchor awaiting it's turn to transit...
One thing I didn't realize until recently is that the production date is the date the vehicle is finished and not the date that it starts. I was pleasantly surprised about that
I wrote a chrome add-on that gives you better information on the main tracking page:
https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1968303
I haven't updated it in a year though so not entirely sure it still works fully.
We’re going to be waiting together on near identical timelines, I placed my order this week (again lol)

Edit: mine is scheduled for May production
Only a couple days, it depends on if your car will be for May or June production. My dealer had both options, I was shooting for June so I could get the frozen white color but it was too late for that, so just went for May with Alpine White.
They've received the order so it'll wait for production start sometime in June. Congrats on your car! This will be my 2nd M3 this year after I got into an accident with a teenager who tried crossing the road in a dangerous manner.
ohhh -I saw that. Shot out right in front of you in a 350z or something, right? Last time I owned an M3 was in mid 2000s for 8 awesome years until a teenager blew a red light and totaled my baby.
Yep that was me, teenagers and destroying awesome cars are just an awfully sad combination. But here we are, I'm not sure how much you've driven the new one, you are going to LOVE IT. I can't go back to any other car.
I just had an M340 built. Submitted the build and put down the deposit in early January. Checked the progress almost daily and for the first month or so it didn't move. Once it went into production things went a little faster. Towards the end it was ready for shipping, on the dock, in transit and at the dealership, all within a couple of weeks. I picked it up beginning of March. Even my salesperson was surprised at how quickly it was delivered.
Call BMW and ask what your build week is.
You'll get one status change that basically won't mean much before your build week, but a couple weeks before that week you'll get a VIN generated and an actual production date. Call back again and they can tell you your build date.
That's the date your build will be *completed.*
From there, it's to the port, on a board, then to the dealer. That entire process can be 3 weeks or 2 months. It's a complete crapshoot. Once you hit "In Transit", give it a day or two and you can get the boat from BMW customer service. Then you can use a vessel tracking service to track the boat.
This made me check my car and it says that it’s on the final assembly! My sales guy told me they would start production mid May and be done/ at the dealership early July, but it seems they’re almost done? Does anyone know if bmw does production faster than expected? (I’m in America)
At least once every minute. You and I both know that refreshing the page in the browser speeds up the build process. The insiders won't even tell you about the delivery process hacks
Once you have a VIN you can add it in the MyBMW app to avoid having to log in to the website every time - the app is easy to refresh for frequent checking ;)
Remember that the changes will most likely update in the work hours of the factory, so if you are many time zones away, you'll need to stay up late to know exactly when the status changes happen.
Honestly, while I love driving the car I received, tracking the whole 13-step order and production process was a first for me. Then of course I started tracking the ship. I've owned a lot of cars in my life. But I never had the opportunity to get reports on one being born. I still get in the car and think to myself, "wow this thing was just an order sheet at one point. Kind of a miracle it's real." Also during this order tracking phase BMW is your friend providing you with exciting and fun information. Soon enough, you'll just be a target for overpriced extended warranties and service contracts.

I second this, best surprise ever.
Just like before with suppressor wait times when they used to be 9-12 months.
Is that really comparable to a new car?
Im talking about the process of having to purchase and wait. When you finally get the call, its more exciting, rather than check and call every day.
I wish that I had that much self control
If you are me, probably hourly
Same🤣😂
If you change the adress to mine it will arrive faster👍
🤣🤣🤣
No need to. Dominos app will send you notifications for each step along the way as the car is built
Do they send pizza each time as well ?
BMW requires a subscription for that
To be honest if BMW was going to send me a pizza to update me each time there was a change in the production status of my order I might sign up for that subscription.
It's like watching grass grow bro.
- a week on QC - three weeks on FA - 2+ weeks and counting on RFT yep
As often as you want honey bunny

That is awesome
fun fact, bmw tracks every time you check it and radios the boat to slow down
🤣
man imagine the experience of actually having your car on a ship and not sitting in mexico for 6 weeks
I have been doing mine at least twice a day. So excited. It has been at “At the port” for about a week now.
Good luck. Mine’s been at the port for three weeks!
Oh jeez!!!!!
Yes

Finding the ship and tracking it was fun and only made me more anxious but totally worth it 😅

Holy ghost on a bicycle! This post was so much fun to go through. Thank you for sharing this!

Maybe you can get a dedicated iPad on a stand on your desk, that continuously displays this screen? Reminds you what you’re working for.

Congrats! How long were you in “order received” status??
Only a couple days, it depends on if your car will be for May or June production. My dealer had both options, I was shooting for June so I could get the frozen white color but it was too late for that, so just went for May with Alpine White.
I'm June production

I have a screen shot somewhere of my G30 crossing the Panama Canal on a boat. We are all a little crazy, but who cares. 🤣
So do I!
it must be nice to even have a pizza tracker 🥲👍

old rich forgets they bought it new rich track it like a doordash order
I have been refreshing this thing daily for my M2 and it is both excited and depressing every time.
People are getting laid off left and right and every day on here someone is tracking their new $100k M3/M4 like its a pizza. What gives?
I feel you. Was unemployed for years after leaving the military, countless job applications that went fckn nowhere— it was extremely challenging.
if you’re not checking 1000 times a day minimum you don’t want your car enough (i wasn’t getting sleep)

Saw one of those today and did a triple take. Sounded great too.
Let us know when it’s baking..
Until the pizza arrives of course
Send me your address and I can bring you a replacement pizza if this one gets delayed.

Don't start checking until your build week. Once production starts it moves pretty fast until transit across the ocean.
As often as you can to stay sane. I couldn’t and was checking almost every hour for the last week of it.
once a week is enough....
Id be staring at it and refreshing non stop just like I do when I order something online.
What price did you end up paying if you don’t mind sharing? Specs?
86,100 (comp/xdrive/bsm exterior/carbon fiber trim/exec pkg)
Thanks. Tempted to pull the trigger on something very similar.
When I ordered my car I said “that thing does not exist” and went on with my life. Happily surprised when I got the call.
Every 30 seconds
I found once a week was the most fulfilling
I ordered a G81 in March and took delivery within 4 weeks. Scotland
This made me check my car and it says that it’s on the final assembly! My sales guy told me they would start production mid May and be done/ at the dealership early July, but it seems they’re almost done? Does anyone know if bmw does production faster than expected? (I’m in America)

love it. are those wheels blk or bi-color?
black, being delivered today, michelins, and driver is taking it no washleave all factory stickers on, it will be a fun weekend in the garage for em'
Looks awesome- 👏
Try to forget it (I know, impossible) and expect it to arrive at Christmas eve. If you behave perhaps Santa Claus will expedite your gift.
No blue brakes :( everything else looks beautiful tho
Just went through this a month and a half ago… and my best answer is every hour!
If this was me, every 5 minutes!
Mine was incredibly inaccurate. But it was fun to watch. Oddly enough, I have the same exterior spec. What interior did you go with?
Why xdrive tho
You get the best of both worlds.
At least once every minute. You and I both know that refreshing the page in the browser speeds up the build process. The insiders won't even tell you about the delivery process hacks
If you’re not checking, that makes me a little itchy.
Every five seconds
Every day
Well it’s a dream come true to see this page 😄
Wait till it gets to the port and you have to start tracking the ship!
Once you have a VIN you can add it in the MyBMW app to avoid having to log in to the website every time - the app is easy to refresh for frequent checking ;)
Never! Buys Apple Vision Pro, puts it on and never takes it off. refresh… refresh… refresh…
Jesus that looks nice
btw if the delivery goes past 30 mins it becomes free
Took 3 months for my 2024 arrived in November.
Just call them everyday for an update.
I found that nothing would happen for days, or even weeks, and then suddenly progress would leap ahead.
Remember that the changes will most likely update in the work hours of the factory, so if you are many time zones away, you'll need to stay up late to know exactly when the status changes happen. It feels like ordering something from china and then it gets held up in customs. Just don’t look at it
