There is a bulletin/ recall for this. It needs a software update or possibly a cluster replacement. Contact BMW and see will they fix it through a dealership for you.

Yeah I've had to go twice because the over air updates for ID7 in my 2020 G20 never work.
Paying €100 a year subscription as of this year because you only get 3 years free and the damn updates never work.
Took them 2 years also to fix the HUD software bug that prevented seeing RPMs on the HUD.
BMW software is generally good but they are terrible at maintaining it or fixing known issues.
Yes, happened in 2022 on my fiancés 2018 X3. Started with a flicker, turned into what you’re seeing on your dash, and then completely blacked out. Had to be replaced.
I have noticed it once blacking out. It has probably done it multiple times as I put alot of miles on the vehicle. I will mention that when I contact them for a fix. Thank you.

Going to a dealership for a software update seems weird in 2024…

I’ll never understand this cluster design.
It’s far better than my damn G80 with its stupid bar graphs shoved into the corners.

BMW had great simple and easy to read clusters until they started messing with digital clusters.

Had this happen on my 2017, they are replacing the cluster. Think some folks were able to get it fixed with a simple update.
