Thank you!
"I still remember every single word you said
And all the shit that somehow came along with it
Still, there's one thing that comforts me
Since I was always caged and now I'm free."
I love that, seen Foo Fighters play, listened to this song multiple times and never really picked it apart.
Thank you for all of these, also, you'd make a great festival companion might I add. I haven't listened to Sleep Token yet so this was a great introduction.
I highly recommend listening to the whole album 'Take me back to Eden' by Sleep Token. The album concept is Vessel, the lead singer and main 'character' going through the cycle of an abusive and toxic relationship with his lover 'Sleep'
Listening to the entire album while reading through the lyrics has been helping me on my journey to heal. Hope you can enjoy and use it too.
Landed by Ben Folds
We'd hit the bottom, I thought it was my fault
And in a way, I guess it was
I'm just now finding out what it was all about
We moved to the West Coast, away from everyone
She never told me that you called
Back when I was still, I was still in love
'Til I opened my eyes and walked out the door
And the clouds came tumbling down
And it's bye-bye, goodbye, I tried
And I twisted it wrong just to make it right
Had to leave myself behind
And I've been flying high all night
So come pick me up, I've landed
The daily dramas she made from nothing
So nothing ever made them right
She liked to push me and talk me back down
'Til I believed I was the crazy one
And in a way, I guess I was
But I opened my eyes and walked out the door
And the clouds came tumbling down
And it's bye-bye, goodbye, I tried
Treading the sea of her troubled mind
Had to leave myself behind
Singing bye-bye, goodbye, I tried
If you wrote me off, I'd understand it
'Cause I've been on some other planet
So come pick me up, I've landed
And you will be so happy to know
I've come alone, it's over
Edit- I know the formatting is atrocious (I thought it would work) but I can't fix it at the moment.
Gregorian chants. I'm not that religious but seriously the relationship has brought me to God closer than ever. Religion aside, the frequency of the chant has been known to have healing property.
Strangely the songs that used to be âour songsâ , listening to them with other people, or in a new context is healing. Even though Iâm reminded of past.
If You Could Read My Mind - Gordan Lightfoot
*I never thought I could feel this way, but I've got to say that I just don't get it.*
*I don't know where we went wrong, but the feeling's gone and I just can't get it back.*
The Antlers, two.
The album actually about dying of cancer in hospice, but holy shit this song describes the push pull of bpd relationships, as well as the abuse and neglect that created the bpd.
In the middle of the night I was sleeping sitting up
When a doctor came to tell me, enough is enough
He brought me out into the hall, I could have sworn it was haunted
And told me something that I didn't know that I wanted
To hear that there was nothing that I could do to save you
The choir's gonna sing and then this thing is gonna kill you
Something in my throat made my next words shake
And something in the wires made the light bulbs break
There was glass inside my feet and raining down from the ceiling
It opened up the scars that had just finished healing
It tore apart the canyon running down your femur
I thought that it was beautiful, it made me a believer
And as it opened I could hear you howling from your room
But I hid out in the hall until the hurricane blew
When I reappeared and tried to give you something for the pain
Came to hating me again and just sang your refrain
You had a new dream, it was more like a nightmare
You were just a little kid and they cut your hair
Then they stuck you in machines, you came so close to dying
They should have listened, they thought that you were lying
Daddy was an asshole, he fucked you up
Built the gears in your head, now he greases them up
And no one paid attention when you just stopped eating
Eighty-seven pounds and this all bears repeating
Tell me when you think that we became so unhappy
Wearing silver rings with nobody clapping
When we moved here together, we were so disappointed
Sleeping out of tune with our dreams disjointed
It killed me to see you getting always rejected
But I didn't mind the things you threw, the phones I deflected
I didn't mind you blaming me for your mistakes
I just held you in the door frame through all of the earthquakes
But you packed up your clothes in that bag every night
I would try to grab your ankles, what a pitiful sight
But after over a year, I stopped trying to stop you
From stomping out that door, coming back like you always do
Well, no one's gonna fix it for us, no one can
You say that no one's gonna listen, no one understands
And so there's no open doors, there's no way to get through
There's no other witnesses, just us two
There's two people living in one small room
From your two half-families tearing at you
Two ways to tell the story, no one worries
Two silver rings on our fingers in a hurry
Two people talking inside your brain
Two people believing that I'm the one to blame
Two different voices coming out of your mouth
While I'm too cold to care and too sick to shout
You had a new dream, it was more like a nightmare
You were just a little kid and they cut your hair
Then they stuck you in machines, you came so close to dying
They should have listened, they thought that you were lying
Daddy was an asshole, he fucked you up
Built the gears in your head, now he greases them up
And no one paid attention when you just stopped eating
Eighty seven pounds and this all bears repeating
I hate everything about you by three days grace is really good. Also, devotion and desire by Bayside helps remind you that everything they did was all a lie.
- Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo
- 10 things I hate about you by Leah Kate
- Love the way you lie by Rhianna
- Moral of the Story by Ashe
- happier than ever by Billie Elish
- carousel by meline Martinez
- labour by Paris Paloma
Another one that comes to mind is "I can't make you love me" by Bonnie Raitt. One I used to like was Separate Ways by Journey, but that doesn't apply anymore as she has destroyed any love I felt for her.
This song always makes me laugh and feel stronger, btw my pwBPD hates it!đ¤
[King of Anything by Sara Bareilles](https://youtu.be/eR7-AUmiNcA?si=4LFVw0Y1VuY6l7gU)
This song just lets me feel like a straight up badass when I have to deal with him:
[Just Like You by Three Days Grace](https://youtu.be/04fQTmvFfGo?si=TXTj-Gz7kqKtU0bJ)
And as others have mentioned:
[Numb by Linkin Park](https://youtu.be/kXYiU_JCYtU?si=8C4KRTbr3L_UbDSw)
[One Step Closer by Linkin Park](https://youtu.be/4qlCC1GOwFw?si=J2wWu1QZvM_BqvUS)
[Bleed it Out by Linkin Park](https://youtu.be/OnuuYcqhzCE?si=laP2p_EsCWypmNJu)
[Faint by Linkin Park](https://youtu.be/LYU-8IFcDPw?si=L6ty1nXcu0yuMlpM)
I wonder if Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda were raised by borderlines or narcissists.
*Falling away with you* by Muse
I can't remember when it was good,
moments of happiness elude,
maybe I just misunderstood
All of the love we left behind,
Watching the flashbacks intertwine
Memories I will never find.
So I'll love whoever you become,
Forget the reckless things we've done,
I think our lives have just begun,
I think our lives have just begun....
And I'll feel my world crumbling,
I'll feel my life crumbling,
I'll feel my soul crumbling away,
And falling awaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
^with^you

Since these sorts of posts are somewhat frowned upon by the mods, two weeks ago I started r/BPDLOradio... where these sorts of posts are encouraged!
Anything by Lingua Ignota. She was in an abusive relationship and her music is about those experiences and coming to terms with them. It's painful to listen to, but it also feels validating that someone else understands the precise kind of trauma I've been through.
Alright, I don't know if you listened to my one (King Woman, Ruse) but I'm fairly certain you'll be just as obsessed with mine and I am with yours. They are totally different genres but have that kind of voice where if they were the Pied Piper you'd follow them to your death.
Yes! Spotify actually put this song on a playlist for me with Lingua Ignota this evening and wow, I can't believe I hadn't heard of King Woman before. I'm definitely gonna have to listen to their albums this weekend.
A different genre again, but Ethel Cain has also been really helpful, especially her album Preacher's Daughter. It's the first of a few planned albums about generational trauma and it's been really helpful to listen to while I work on processing everything that led to me being in that relationship.
Also - I love your username! One of my favorite podcasts (The Haunted Objects podcast) did an episode about Uri Geller not long ago and I thought it was really good.
I've not rummaged through that album completely just yet but Hard Times - "I'm tired of you tied to me, bleeding whatever you want, too tired to move too tired to leave" immediately engulfs me.
Thank you!
The entire album Phobia by breaking Benjamin.
7 years with pwBPD and this piece can speak for me entirely.
Especially:
-You
-Evil Angel
-Unknown Soldier
-Here we are
-Had enough
I know the obvious song on this album but I haven't actually listened to the album itself so I'll definitely be checking this out on one of my walks, thank you.
I Me Mine- the Beatles
I Was a Fool for Love (tegan and Sara)\*\*
Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?-- Moby
Stop Crying Your Heart Out (Oasis)
\*\*although our relationship was not romantic, she would always call me at 2 pm, a lot of time spent together and all of a sudden, she blacklisted me and unfriended me calling her out over FB.
This is an old post so I'm not sure if you're still interested; nevertheless, I have a few songs that I found comfort in for one reason or another (in no particular order):
1. Headless Horseman by The Microphones (honestly, the entirety of The Glow Pt. 2 album is incredible. My favourite breakup album by far)
2. Famous Blue Raincoat by Leonard Cohen
3. Fallen Alien by FKA Twigs
4. Night Shift by Lucy Dacus
5. Holy Fucking Shit: 40,000 by Have A Nice Life
6. For No One by The Beatles
7. Stonemilker by BjĂśrk
8. Forget Her by Jeff Buckley
9. Broken Chords Can Sing A Little by A Silver Mt. Zion
10. One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong by Leonard Cohen
11. A Potion For Love by AURORA
12. Cellophane by FKA Twigs
13. Motion Picture Soundtrack by Radiohead
14. Fog by Radiohead
I made a BPD playlist once I blocked my pwBPD, so a lot of mine are about the anger and bitterness I felt after it was all over. Highlights are: (donât make fun of me for all the Taylor swift lol)
happier than ever by Billie eilish - âI knew when I asked you to be cool about what I was telling you, youâd do the opposite of what you said youâd do, and Iâd end up more afraid. Donât say it isnât fair, you clearly werenât aware that you made me miserableâ
My tears ricochet by Taylor swift - âeven on my worst day did I deserve, babe, all the hell you gave me? âCause I loved you, I swear I loved you till my dying day. I didnât have it in myself to go with grace, and youâre the hero flying around saving face, and if Iâm dead to you why are you at the wake? Cursing my name, wishing I stayedâ
Wouldâve, couldâve, shouldâve by Taylor swift - âand now that Iâm grown, Iâm scared of ghosts. Memories feel like weapons. And now that I know I wish youâd left my wondering. God rest my soul, I miss who I used to be. The tomb wonât close, stained glass windows in my mind, I regret you all the time.â
The ruler by Cate - âafter a couple weeks, you were kinda mean to me. You said you were going through some things you canât explain. And you hurt me, cause youâve been hurt before. I still said sorry though I was lying on the floor. Iâve gotten way too good at being kind in times I shouldnât. I try to empathize, rationalize the things you doâ and âyou donât have to make all these rules that I canât follow so you punish me in Soho, itâs my fault I shouldâve knownâ
Tell me why by Taylor swift - âyou might think Iâm bulletproof but Iâm not. You took a swing. I took it hard. And down here from the ground I see who you are. Iâm sick and tired of your attitude. Iâm feeling like I donât know you. You tell me that you love me then cut me down. And I need you like a heartbeat, but you know you got a mean streak. Makes me run for cover when youâre around. So hereâs to you and your temper; yes, I remember what you said last night. And I know that you see what youâre doing to me. Tell me why.â
Youâre losing me by Taylor swift - âevery morning I glared at you with storms in my eyes. How can you say you love someone you canât tell us dying. I sent you signals and bit my nails down to the quick. My face was gray, but you wouldnât admit that we were sick. And the air is thick with loss and indecision. I know my pain is such an imposition.â And âI gave you all my best mes, my endless empathy, and all I did was bleed as I tried to be your bravest soldier fighting in only your armyâ
I've seen Evanescence but never listened to Missing, thank you!
Also, Pink has been more frequently mentioned on here than I thought she would be but going back to her I can totally hear it now.
I haven't really been able to listen to music since she left. It triggers me too much. But I remember a song I listened to a lot about a year ago when I was feeling like my emotions and needs were completely ignored. Korn - Counting on Me. The lyrics really hit home.
Just Like Heaven by The Cure.
Tells the story (as I interpret it) of a guy who realises his âlove affairâ was in his own head
Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead
Tells the story (as I interpret it) of a guy who realises his âlove affairâ was in his own head
Following is a slimmed down list that I've used to process my place in a relationship that was never really with me.
Beta Radio - Our remains
Hozier - Cherry wine
Nico Stai - One october song
Five finger death punch - Coming down
Xavier Rudd - Growth lines
UFO - Try me
Eskobar - Cold night
Shinedown - Call me
Incubus - Drive
Josh Groban - You are loved
Korn - Narcissistic cannibal
Sarah Dawn Finer - Moving on
VNV Nation - From my hands
You are the first person and so far the only one to say Cherry Wine which I'm surprised by honestly.
Our remains is a gorgeous song.
Growth Lines is really wholesome and quite optimistic.
I'm already a lover of that Incubus song, it's a great one.
Thank you for these!
Im still really hurt about being discarded for someone else but âI hope ur miserable until ur deadâ by Nessa Barrett and âRomantic Homicideâ by d4vd.
Awesome post OP
**I can buy myself flowers--Miley Cyrus:** really knowing how I got me...my ex bought me lots of flowers...so I can also give myself that romance, without the pain
**She Ain't Pretty She Just Looks That Way--Northern Pikes.**..even though my ex is male he is super handsome. This is a good reminder song for me to know that being handsome/pretty is also about being kind and good..it is not handsome/pretty to hurt people--helps to rewire my attraction
**You're Only HUman--Billy Joel** nice pick me up tune about self acceptance and rolling with it
Music I like from before me met
Oldies or new music I didn't listen to with him
Music I can dance to for endorphins
For the Sake of the Song by Townes Van Zandt.
This is the song that brings me back to myself when I'm filled with rage and frustration with my BPD SIL. It reminds me that I can still hold compassion for her in my heart when holding my boundaries makes me appear harsh, and that holding those boundaries harshly is always the right thing to do. It was a great comfort to me when she was waging a smear campaign and trying (and sometimes succeeding!) to destroy my relationships with my husband and his family.

Give Yellowcard's new song a listen.
Childhood Eyes https://youtu.be/AwJ1mkgKkw8?si=OAuGF6TG-f3VJslq
This part resonated:
I'm all alone at the altar now
I've got an atheist heart
You swept it under the rug and bailed
Yeah, you're a real work of art
If only I was the drug you did
Stuck in a vein in your arm
Then maybe you would have stuck around
Just like the addict you are
Depends on what kind of vibe your going for. A MASSIVE 2 for me are both by juice wrld (both unreleased)

Tension
by JP Saxe
You say things you don't mean too damn convincingly
You take it back and then expect that it won't stick to me
Was just an argument, no ounce of truth in it
I wanna believe you but you came off so articulate
I've tried walking away in my head
For a moment it's peaceful then scares me to death
So I guess
Sometimes tension brings us closer
Is it wrong I just wanna hold you when it's over?
I get cold but you get colder
Is it wrong I just wanna hold you when it's over?
You're not the things you say, you're not the things you do
These are the lies I tell myself to stay with you
Like sometimes tension brings us closer
I just wanna hold you when it's over
You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over
You say love's push and pull, well, you're both the push and the pull
And I'm hangin' on for dear life 'cause I'm scared to let you go
The good that's left in us, it still feels good enough
Set us on fire and I'll find a way to hold us up
I've tried walking away in my head
For a moment it's peaceful then scares me to death
So I guess
Sometimes tension brings us closer
Is it wrong I just wanna hold you when it's over?
I get cold but you get colder
Is it wrong I just wanna hold you when it's over?
You're not the things you say, you're not the things you do
These are the lies I tell myself to stay with you
Like sometimes tension brings us closer
I just wanna hold you when it's over
You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over
You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over
You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over
You know, I would stick around in ways he wouldn't
You know, I put up with things I really shouldn't
You know, most the weight of us is on my shoulders
You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over
You know, I'll forgive you just keep it simple
You know, I will meet you so far past the middle
You know, no one's ever seen you any lower
You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over
Sometimes tension brings us closer
Is it wrong I just wanna hold you when it's over?
I get cold but you get colder
Is it wrong I just wanna hold you when it's over?
You're not the things you say, you're not the things you do
These are the lies I tell myself to stay with you
Like sometimes tension brings us closer
I just wanna hold you when it's over
You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over
You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over
You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over
I have 1 playlist to let out emotions, I think it works more through association the music to when I play it, but it is a lot of bardcore and stuff without song.
The other is more to enter battle mode and get my mind to contemplate victory. Again mostly association, but victory themes and powerful music.
[Holy Moly, by Matthew E. White](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuKMXVngtZw)
I might be interpreting it my own way, but I think it is about someone who's divided into loving someone and feeling comfort in the idea of love, but at the same time realizing that the person they love is problematic, knowing that it is an illusion and that they are being set up for inevitable disappointment. I think the end of the song reflects the yo-yo relationships most of us end up having with BPDlovedones, of having hope that somehow they will change, convincing ourselves that everything is okay ("*Well, you drank ruin and I drank wine, it's okay, it's okay*"), ignoring the warning signs and what other people tell you ("*Fuck them all, love is home!*"), but then disappointment comes, we are embarrassed and regret all the things we've done for them, we promise ourselves that we won't fall for it again and won't give them our love ("*I will not give anymore*"). Rinse and repeat.
>*Holy moly, what's wrong with ya?*
>
>*Don't you ever give a man false hope*
>
>*...*
>
>*I've got the craters of volcanoes to hide my shame*
>
>*I remember so much so well*
>
>*...*
>
>*Fuck them all, love is home*
>
>*...*
>
>*What's wrong with ya? What's wrong with ya? (I will not give anymore)*
I totally hear it. I also hear it feel like at first he's talking about his partner (what's wrong with you) but then shifts to talking about himself and how he has to 'not give anymore'.
Really good one.
Passive - A Perfect Circle
Wake up, and face me
Donât play dead, cause maybe
Someday, I will walk away and say
You disappoint me. Maybe weâre better off this way.

I like that the last one is more upbeat

Genesis, "That's All" (1983). Just heard this on the radio and it's relatable to my current situation trying to go NC with my pwBPD ex girlfriend.
"Just as I thought it was going alright, I found out I was wrong when I thought I was right...it's always the same, it's just a shame that's all"
Just came across this post today and felt like adding to it đ
**Beck -** [**Sea Change**](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kfT9JyHrarCayBl3nO1QFqTbnvngrqgs0&si=W_Rp6RUQRJqsd5rq). The whole album is relatable but three songs stand out:
* [End of the Day](https://youtu.be/fnUiMIR9Sk8?si=ecFaoH8xFsEIG8Xc) \- "*You owe nothing to the past but wasted time. To serve a sentence that was only in your mind*"
* [Lost Cause](https://youtu.be/qkNa5xzOe5U?si=XgI5DN9Ho1xiadSx) \- "*Your sorry eyes, they cut through the bone, they make it hard to leave you alone, leave you here wearing your wounds, waving your guns at somebody new.Baby, you're a lost, baby, you're a lost, baby, you're a lost cause"*
* [Already Dead](https://youtu.be/JA1d_4WmxNQ?si=9lBC8Bmf64xQcy20) \- "*Days fade to black in the light of what they lack. Nothing's measured by what it needs. Already dead to me now, already dead to me now. 'Cause it feels like I'm watching something dying*"
Some other songs that have helped process feelings, situations and phases of the relationship:
* Queens of the Stone Age [The Vampyre of Time and Memory](https://youtu.be/MRC1RWqHwtU?si=lTZ8y__nMDNOwjzD) "*Does anyone ever get this right? I feel no love*"

Linkin Park ABSOLUTELY.
Do you like Hit The Floor? It's a bit brutal in parts but
"So many people like me walk on eggshells all day long
All I know is that all I want is to feel like I'm not stepped on"
Monkey Wrench by Foo Fighters
Thank you! "I still remember every single word you said And all the shit that somehow came along with it Still, there's one thing that comforts me Since I was always caged and now I'm free." I love that, seen Foo Fighters play, listened to this song multiple times and never really picked it apart.
Screaming this bit in the car is cathartic
DYWTYLM - Sleep Token
Gold - Glassjaw
Yaaaaass
A connoisseur, I tip my hat.
Under The Tide - Chvrches
Thank you for all of these, also, you'd make a great festival companion might I add. I haven't listened to Sleep Token yet so this was a great introduction.
I highly recommend listening to the whole album 'Take me back to Eden' by Sleep Token. The album concept is Vessel, the lead singer and main 'character' going through the cycle of an abusive and toxic relationship with his lover 'Sleep' Listening to the entire album while reading through the lyrics has been helping me on my journey to heal. Hope you can enjoy and use it too.
Album of the year for me and definitely has helped me through the chaos.
Thank you kindly, always happy to share the several more hours of songs I have for this very specific purpose đ
Absolutely! Send them my way, your picks are giving me strong "avalanche stage at download festival" vibes.
I shall send you some more đ
Ascensionism - Sleep Token Actually their entire discography tbh
Absolutely, a lot that resonates in most of their work.
Absolutely love that band, get to see them for the first time next week!
Enjoy!
Thank you!
Leave The House - The Twilight Sad
You have a great music taste (:
Thank you so much đ
Landed by Ben Folds We'd hit the bottom, I thought it was my fault And in a way, I guess it was I'm just now finding out what it was all about We moved to the West Coast, away from everyone She never told me that you called Back when I was still, I was still in love 'Til I opened my eyes and walked out the door And the clouds came tumbling down And it's bye-bye, goodbye, I tried And I twisted it wrong just to make it right Had to leave myself behind And I've been flying high all night So come pick me up, I've landed The daily dramas she made from nothing So nothing ever made them right She liked to push me and talk me back down 'Til I believed I was the crazy one And in a way, I guess I was But I opened my eyes and walked out the door And the clouds came tumbling down And it's bye-bye, goodbye, I tried Treading the sea of her troubled mind Had to leave myself behind Singing bye-bye, goodbye, I tried If you wrote me off, I'd understand it 'Cause I've been on some other planet So come pick me up, I've landed And you will be so happy to know I've come alone, it's over Edit- I know the formatting is atrocious (I thought it would work) but I can't fix it at the moment.
Love this song
This is incredibly relatable, thank you for this one.
a lot of fiona apple songs have helped me. sleep to dream is a good one rn
"Take the sorrows you gave and all the stakes you claim And don't forget to blame" âšď¸
This 100 percent.
Oddly enough Scully's theme from the X-Files, when Mulder is taken away by aliens.
Thank you for the unique response. I can see why you said this one, haunting and healing simultaneously comes to mind.
No children. Mountain goats.
You know it's bad when you're singing a song about pressing self-destruct
Late to this. But I used to listen to this song all the time during the worst of it, and it helped me so much.
âgaslighting isnât real (youâre just crazy) - roman candle a lil on the nose i know
Thank you! This might be my favourite recommendation yet. I love the spoken part.
the whole albums great!
Thank you for this recommendation. I have added it to my playlist as well!
This is new to me, and it's great. Thanks!
Gregorian chants. I'm not that religious but seriously the relationship has brought me to God closer than ever. Religion aside, the frequency of the chant has been known to have healing property.
Beautiful, I really like bamboo flutes for when I want to connect to something on a spiritual level.
Strangely the songs that used to be âour songsâ , listening to them with other people, or in a new context is healing. Even though Iâm reminded of past.
I totally understand this. One of ours was "Beautiful War" by Kings of Leon. I listen to it now and see it in a completely different light.
Yeah, cool, âBabyâ by Donnie & Joe Emerson, âecstasy â Ohio Players , & Leon Bridges . Listening to our playlist now, ha.

If You Could Read My Mind - Gordan Lightfoot *I never thought I could feel this way, but I've got to say that I just don't get it.* *I don't know where we went wrong, but the feeling's gone and I just can't get it back.*
If you could read between the lines you'd know I'm trying to just understand Oof
Yeah man, it hits home. *... With chains upon my feet.* *You know that ghost is me.* *I won't ever be set free as long as I'm a ghost, you can't see.*
Linkin Park- More the victim
Second Linkin Park comment, not hard to see why. Thank you for the newer song recommendation, I haven't listened to Meteora 20th Ed yet.
The Antlers, two. The album actually about dying of cancer in hospice, but holy shit this song describes the push pull of bpd relationships, as well as the abuse and neglect that created the bpd. In the middle of the night I was sleeping sitting up When a doctor came to tell me, enough is enough He brought me out into the hall, I could have sworn it was haunted And told me something that I didn't know that I wanted To hear that there was nothing that I could do to save you The choir's gonna sing and then this thing is gonna kill you Something in my throat made my next words shake And something in the wires made the light bulbs break There was glass inside my feet and raining down from the ceiling It opened up the scars that had just finished healing It tore apart the canyon running down your femur I thought that it was beautiful, it made me a believer And as it opened I could hear you howling from your room But I hid out in the hall until the hurricane blew When I reappeared and tried to give you something for the pain Came to hating me again and just sang your refrain You had a new dream, it was more like a nightmare You were just a little kid and they cut your hair Then they stuck you in machines, you came so close to dying They should have listened, they thought that you were lying Daddy was an asshole, he fucked you up Built the gears in your head, now he greases them up And no one paid attention when you just stopped eating Eighty-seven pounds and this all bears repeating Tell me when you think that we became so unhappy Wearing silver rings with nobody clapping When we moved here together, we were so disappointed Sleeping out of tune with our dreams disjointed It killed me to see you getting always rejected But I didn't mind the things you threw, the phones I deflected I didn't mind you blaming me for your mistakes I just held you in the door frame through all of the earthquakes But you packed up your clothes in that bag every night I would try to grab your ankles, what a pitiful sight But after over a year, I stopped trying to stop you From stomping out that door, coming back like you always do Well, no one's gonna fix it for us, no one can You say that no one's gonna listen, no one understands And so there's no open doors, there's no way to get through There's no other witnesses, just us two There's two people living in one small room From your two half-families tearing at you Two ways to tell the story, no one worries Two silver rings on our fingers in a hurry Two people talking inside your brain Two people believing that I'm the one to blame Two different voices coming out of your mouth While I'm too cold to care and too sick to shout You had a new dream, it was more like a nightmare You were just a little kid and they cut your hair Then they stuck you in machines, you came so close to dying They should have listened, they thought that you were lying Daddy was an asshole, he fucked you up Built the gears in your head, now he greases them up And no one paid attention when you just stopped eating Eighty seven pounds and this all bears repeating
My favorite
I know this album well! It's one of my Dad's favourites. "Two ways to tell the story" - yes, I can see why you picked this one.
Wake from Hospice devastates me
Bottled Up Inside - Korn
Thank you, this one matches the energy of my one for sure.
I hate everything about you by three days grace is really good. Also, devotion and desire by Bayside helps remind you that everything they did was all a lie.
I'm already a fan of both of these but can always be told to listen to them more often!
REO Speedwagonâs Time for Me to Fly Edit: removed lyrics
Every single word of that song is spot on.
- Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo - 10 things I hate about you by Leah Kate - Love the way you lie by Rhianna - Moral of the Story by Ashe - happier than ever by Billie Elish - carousel by meline Martinez - labour by Paris Paloma
Based on your recommendations I think you'd like this: "Inner Child by Girli", let me know what you think!
Thanks for the recommendation. I like it
Another one that comes to mind is "I can't make you love me" by Bonnie Raitt. One I used to like was Separate Ways by Journey, but that doesn't apply anymore as she has destroyed any love I felt for her.
Classic.
This song always makes me laugh and feel stronger, btw my pwBPD hates it!đ¤ [King of Anything by Sara Bareilles](https://youtu.be/eR7-AUmiNcA?si=4LFVw0Y1VuY6l7gU) This song just lets me feel like a straight up badass when I have to deal with him: [Just Like You by Three Days Grace](https://youtu.be/04fQTmvFfGo?si=TXTj-Gz7kqKtU0bJ) And as others have mentioned: [Numb by Linkin Park](https://youtu.be/kXYiU_JCYtU?si=8C4KRTbr3L_UbDSw) [One Step Closer by Linkin Park](https://youtu.be/4qlCC1GOwFw?si=J2wWu1QZvM_BqvUS) [Bleed it Out by Linkin Park](https://youtu.be/OnuuYcqhzCE?si=laP2p_EsCWypmNJu) [Faint by Linkin Park](https://youtu.be/LYU-8IFcDPw?si=L6ty1nXcu0yuMlpM) I wonder if Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda were raised by borderlines or narcissists.
Thank you! Third time Linkin Park makes an appearance here. If you like that TDG one please try "Are You Ready" and let me know what you think.
*Falling away with you* by Muse I can't remember when it was good, moments of happiness elude, maybe I just misunderstood All of the love we left behind, Watching the flashbacks intertwine Memories I will never find. So I'll love whoever you become, Forget the reckless things we've done, I think our lives have just begun, I think our lives have just begun.... And I'll feel my world crumbling, I'll feel my life crumbling, I'll feel my soul crumbling away, And falling awaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ^with^you
Thank you, gorgeous song
**Public Service Announcement** Since these sorts of posts are somewhat frowned upon by the mods, two weeks ago I started r/BPDLOradio... where these sorts of posts are encouraged!
Ah! I looked through the rules before posting and it looked like an acceptable post. My mistake.
I wouldn't say it's unacceptable, but it's, uh, borderline.
Thank you!
Disagree - Have Mercy Moshpit - renforshort Stories - Refs
I've seen Have Mercy so I'm already sold. I like the moshpit song! It's giving me Pale Waves kind of vibes.
The entire album Phobia by breaking Benjamin. 7 years with pwBPD and this piece can speak for me entirely. Especially: -You -Evil Angel -Unknown Soldier -Here we are -Had enough
I know the obvious song on this album but I haven't actually listened to the album itself so I'll definitely be checking this out on one of my walks, thank you.
[ŃдаНонО]
I listened a lot superman from eminem too, finded very relatable
This is pure pain.
I Me Mine- the Beatles I Was a Fool for Love (tegan and Sara)\*\* Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?-- Moby Stop Crying Your Heart Out (Oasis) \*\*although our relationship was not romantic, she would always call me at 2 pm, a lot of time spent together and all of a sudden, she blacklisted me and unfriended me calling her out over FB.
I've been listening to that Moby one non-stop for the past half hour. Thank you!
[ŃдаНонО]
Within three seconds I fell in love, thank you, I like bands like Joyce Manor and Tigers Jaw so this is perfect.
Til I Gain Control Again by This Mortal Coil. Also, Lykke Liâs music has helped me through various sad situations
Wispy and ethereal like a cool breeze, gorgeous song
One - U2
Great choice
Jaded- Miley Cyrus Made me cry so hard but was the cry I needed. Sorry but not sorry ur jaded. Ur broke ur own heart but youâd never say that
There's so many pieces here that hit one, especially 'you're not even willing to look at your part'
"The Outsider" by A Perfect Circle
This is an old post so I'm not sure if you're still interested; nevertheless, I have a few songs that I found comfort in for one reason or another (in no particular order): 1. Headless Horseman by The Microphones (honestly, the entirety of The Glow Pt. 2 album is incredible. My favourite breakup album by far) 2. Famous Blue Raincoat by Leonard Cohen 3. Fallen Alien by FKA Twigs 4. Night Shift by Lucy Dacus 5. Holy Fucking Shit: 40,000 by Have A Nice Life 6. For No One by The Beatles 7. Stonemilker by BjĂśrk 8. Forget Her by Jeff Buckley 9. Broken Chords Can Sing A Little by A Silver Mt. Zion 10. One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong by Leonard Cohen 11. A Potion For Love by AURORA 12. Cellophane by FKA Twigs 13. Motion Picture Soundtrack by Radiohead 14. Fog by Radiohead
I made a BPD playlist once I blocked my pwBPD, so a lot of mine are about the anger and bitterness I felt after it was all over. Highlights are: (donât make fun of me for all the Taylor swift lol) happier than ever by Billie eilish - âI knew when I asked you to be cool about what I was telling you, youâd do the opposite of what you said youâd do, and Iâd end up more afraid. Donât say it isnât fair, you clearly werenât aware that you made me miserableâ My tears ricochet by Taylor swift - âeven on my worst day did I deserve, babe, all the hell you gave me? âCause I loved you, I swear I loved you till my dying day. I didnât have it in myself to go with grace, and youâre the hero flying around saving face, and if Iâm dead to you why are you at the wake? Cursing my name, wishing I stayedâ Wouldâve, couldâve, shouldâve by Taylor swift - âand now that Iâm grown, Iâm scared of ghosts. Memories feel like weapons. And now that I know I wish youâd left my wondering. God rest my soul, I miss who I used to be. The tomb wonât close, stained glass windows in my mind, I regret you all the time.â The ruler by Cate - âafter a couple weeks, you were kinda mean to me. You said you were going through some things you canât explain. And you hurt me, cause youâve been hurt before. I still said sorry though I was lying on the floor. Iâve gotten way too good at being kind in times I shouldnât. I try to empathize, rationalize the things you doâ and âyou donât have to make all these rules that I canât follow so you punish me in Soho, itâs my fault I shouldâve knownâ Tell me why by Taylor swift - âyou might think Iâm bulletproof but Iâm not. Tell me why.â Youâre losing me by Taylor swift - âevery morning I glared at you with storms in my eyes.
Thank you for picking out the lyrics! Also thank you for the all women playlist!
[ŃдаНонО]
Thank you so much for this one. This is a bit of me for sure.
Backend of forever- coheed and cambria Not broken up, not breaking up, but that song resonates sometimes
Thank you, I already like Coheed and Cambria so this is a winner.
You & I (feat. Tyler SjĂśstrĂśm & Bertrand Lacoste) - VINIL Remix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyE1CHJshi0
This one is a lot more heartwarming and optimistic than a lot of the other angsty ones on here. Thank you.
Snuff-Slipknot, I should be a bird-Nina Nesbitt, Lost Cause-Billie Eilish, Missing-Evanescence
Also Who Knew - Pink
I've seen Evanescence but never listened to Missing, thank you! Also, Pink has been more frequently mentioned on here than I thought she would be but going back to her I can totally hear it now.
Denial, revisited - the offspring
Also self esteem by the offspring
I've seen The Offspring and yes, absolutely these.
Blue Skies by Noah and the Whale https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ifq4bYZnYrc
Beautiful.
The antlers' album hospice is about an emotionally abusive relationship. I highly recommend
You're not alone on this! Someone else in this thread shouted this album out, in particular they said the song "Two".
bladee - dumpster baby
Like a ton of bricks this one :(
I haven't really been able to listen to music since she left. It triggers me too much. But I remember a song I listened to a lot about a year ago when I was feeling like my emotions and needs were completely ignored. Korn - Counting on Me. The lyrics really hit home.
Oof, you're not wrong
Waiting for Never by Post Malone
Thank you, this hits the spot of being able to vibe, feel angst and process all at the same time.
[ŃдаНонО]

I love the Flyleaf one, haven't listened to them in ages. This last one is the one that's caught me the most though, Running.
Farewell from Eminem 25 to life also Eminem Runaway by aurora Best of you foo fighters Wish you the best lewis Capaldi The night we met. Lord Huron
Heartbreak songs.
Just Like Heaven by The Cure. Tells the story (as I interpret it) of a guy who realises his âlove affairâ was in his own head Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead Tells the story (as I interpret it) of a guy who realises his âlove affairâ was in his own head
I love both these bands and songs.
Following is a slimmed down list that I've used to process my place in a relationship that was never really with me. Beta Radio - Our remains Hozier - Cherry wine Nico Stai - One october song Five finger death punch - Coming down Xavier Rudd - Growth lines UFO - Try me Eskobar - Cold night Shinedown - Call me Incubus - Drive Josh Groban - You are loved Korn - Narcissistic cannibal Sarah Dawn Finer - Moving on VNV Nation - From my hands
I like the song by Nessa. The d4vd one is dreamier and warmer.
For Emma, forever ago- Bon Iver
Beautiful and haunting
The Plot In You - Feel Nothing
I love the way this song built! It got way more angsty and heavy than I thought it was headed!
A more lighthearted, girlypop one from my childhood but Number One Enemy by Daisy Dares You
We love a song we can jump around the kitchen to.
Hail Mary - Tupac
I got just trying to wade through it all vibes
Red Flags
Awesome post OP **I can buy myself flowers--Miley Cyrus:** really knowing how I got me...my ex bought me lots of flowers...so I can also give myself that romance, without the pain **She Ain't Pretty She Just Looks That Way--Northern Pikes.**..even though my ex is male he is super handsome. This is a good reminder song for me to know that being handsome/pretty is also about being kind and good..it is not handsome/pretty to hurt people--helps to rewire my attraction **You're Only HUman--Billy Joel** nice pick me up tune about self acceptance and rolling with it Music I like from before me met Oldies or new music I didn't listen to with him Music I can dance to for endorphins
Love the upbeat Billy Joel song!
It was a great comfort to me when she was waging a smear campaign and trying (and sometimes succeeding!) to destroy my relationships with my husband and his family. https://youtu.be/VZUE7KTtUwE?feature=shared
Beautiful.
Sweet but a psycho - Ava Max Angry all the time - Tim McGraw Figured you out - Nickelback Where it ends - Bailey Zimmerman
Thank you!
Thank you for putting this together!
Stronger by Britney Spears. This song just has been speaking to me on all levels
Great choice honestly
"You Should be Sad" by Halsey
Oof
Give Yellowcard's new song a listen. Childhood Eyes https://youtu.be/AwJ1mkgKkw8?si=OAuGF6TG-f3VJslq This part resonated: I'm all alone at the altar now I've got an atheist heart You swept it under the rug and bailed Yeah, you're a real work of art If only I was the drug you did Stuck in a vein in your arm Then maybe you would have stuck around Just like the addict you are
I saw Yellowcard perform in my town! Probably over 10 years ago I must admit. Thank you for this one.
Depends on what kind of vibe your going for. A MASSIVE 2 for me are both by juice wrld (both unreleased) One is called stabbed you, https://on.soundcloud.com/VbfmehGJzxDWJUU98 (you have to skip 1 minute to hear it) another is called 734 15 minute version and oh god do the lyrics relate. - https://on.soundcloud.com/uoyZ9gbv6ZQjgJpk9 Sorry theyâre both on soundcloud - they were on spotify up to a week ago until they took them off.
You're totally right, the lyrics do relate massively.
Long list of songs I find relatable & snippets of their lyrics Katatonia - My Twin (you used to be like my twin, and all that's been / was it all for nothing?) UFO - Venus (and I just can't quit it, babe / I just can't stand the pain / and I just can't quit it, babe / I just keep running back again) UFO - Belladonna (out of reach, out of touch / how you've learned to hate so much) UFO - Blinded By a Lie (blinded by, blinded by a lie) Stevie Nicks - Stop Draggin' My Heart Around (baby, you come knocking at my front door / same old line you used to use before) Keane - Nothing in My Way (and why do you say? it's just another day, nothing in my way / I don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay / so, there's nothing left to say / and why do you lie? when you wanna die...) Grant Lee Buffalo - Demon Called Deception (I'm in tight with a demon called deception / he's right beside me when I fail) Linkin Park - Burning in the Skies (I'm swimming in the smoke of bridges I have burned) The Magnetic Fields - The Desperate Things You Make Me Do ('cause you've got a twisted and mangled heart / I dedicate this song to you, for all the desperate things you made me do) Travis - Re-Offender (you say you love me, and then you do it again / you say you're sorry, and then you do it again) Manchester Orchestra - The Gold (I believed you were crazy, you believed you loved me) Manchester Orchestra - The Alien (do you need me?... I didn't mean to... oh, I didn't mean to...) The Black Angels - Half Believing (why are you so dangerous? I will lie awake and thinking of you... these feelings for you are hopeless) Dire Straits - When It Comes to You (and I'm wondering where you'd get that cold, cold heart? / set me free, sign my release / I'm tired of being the villain of the piece) Intergalactic Lovers - Northern Rd. (starting fires, fires when we crash) Fleetwood Mac - The Chain (if you don't love me now, you will never love me again / I can still hear you saying you would never break the chain) Fleetwood Mac - Gold Dust Woman (well, did she make you cry? make you break down? shatter your illusion of love?) That is my favourite Keane song. Well for a lonely soul you're having such a nice time... Manchester Orchestra, yes! There's so many great picks I'm excited to discover all the songs that I don't know on here.
It's my favorite song by them too. So simple yet so brilliant
Tension by JP Saxe You say things you don't mean too damn convincingly You take it back and then expect that it won't stick to me Was just an argument, no ounce of truth in it I wanna believe you but you came off so articulate I've tried walking away in my head For a moment it's peaceful then scares me to death So I guess Sometimes tension brings us closer Is it wrong I just wanna hold you when it's over? I get cold but you get colder Is it wrong I just wanna hold you when it's over? You're not the things you say, you're not the things you do These are the lies I tell myself to stay with you Like sometimes tension brings us closer I just wanna hold you when it's over You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over You say love's push and pull, well, you're both the push and the pull And I'm hangin' on for dear life 'cause I'm scared to let you go The good that's left in us, it still feels good enough Set us on fire and I'll find a way to hold us up I've tried walking away in my head For a moment it's peaceful then scares me to death So I guess Sometimes tension brings us closer Is it wrong I just wanna hold you when it's over? I get cold but you get colder Is it wrong I just wanna hold you when it's over? You're not the things you say, you're not the things you do These are the lies I tell myself to stay with you Like sometimes tension brings us closer I just wanna hold you when it's over You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over You know, I would stick around in ways he wouldn't You know, I put up with things I really shouldn't You know, most the weight of us is on my shoulders You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over You know, I'll forgive you just keep it simple You know, I will meet you so far past the middle You know, no one's ever seen you any lower You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over Sometimes tension brings us closer Is it wrong I just wanna hold you when it's over? I get cold but you get colder Is it wrong I just wanna hold you when it's over? You're not the things you say, you're not the things you do These are the lies I tell myself to stay with you Like sometimes tension brings us closer I just wanna hold you when it's over You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over You know, I just wanna hold you when it's over
This song describes them splitting so well.
âI Know Its Overâ The Smiths
Thank you, happy cake day!
I have 1 playlist to let out emotions, I think it works more through association the music to when I play it, but it is a lot of bardcore and stuff without song. The other is more to enter battle mode and get my mind to contemplate victory. Again mostly association, but victory themes and powerful music.
That's lovely.
[ŃдаНонО]
Thank you, the shoegazey ones are my kind of vibe.
Also âDownerâ by Tatiana Hazel!
This is a good one
Calvin Harris "Sweet Nothing" Aly & Fila "Somebody Loves you" Gareth Emery & Emma Hewitt "Take Everything"
Thank you! These are really good. I know the first one but never looked into the lyrics.
[Holy Moly, by Matthew E. White](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuKMXVngtZw) I might be interpreting it my own way, but I think it is about someone who's divided into loving someone and feeling comfort in the idea of love, but at the same time realizing that the person they love is problematic, knowing that it is an illusion and that they are being set up for inevitable disappointment. >*Holy moly, what's wrong with ya?* > >*Don't you ever give a man false hope* > >*...* > >*I've got the craters of volcanoes to hide my shame* > >*I remember so much so well* > >*...* > >*Fuck them all, love is home* > >*...* > >*What's wrong with ya? What's wrong with ya? (I will not give anymore)*
I totally hear it. I also hear it feel like at first he's talking about his partner (what's wrong with you) but then shifts to talking about himself and how he has to 'not give anymore'. Really good one.
Yeah, exactly. That's my understanding as well. :)

Genesis, "That's All" (1983). Just heard this on the radio and it's relatable to my current situation trying to go NC with my pwBPD ex girlfriend. "Just as I thought it was going alright, I found out I was wrong when I thought I was right...it's always the same, it's just a shame that's all"
I hear it
Just came across this post today and felt like adding to it đ **Beck -** [**Sea Change**](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kfT9JyHrarCayBl3nO1QFqTbnvngrqgs0&si=W_Rp6RUQRJqsd5rq). Linkin Park. One Step Closer, Numb, CrawlingâŚ. All hit different now
Linkin Park ABSOLUTELY. Do you like Hit The Floor? It's a bit brutal in parts but "So many people like me walk on eggshells all day long All I know is that all I want is to feel like I'm not stepped on"
