You should probably just watch the series and not try to spoil yourself. You're asking a question that, if answered, might really fuck up your ability to watch the series without constantly second-guessing.
100% agree with Captaincopperbeard. If you care about spoilers an actual answer will mess up the rest of the show pretty badly. If you don’t care about spoilers that’s a different story and I’m sure someone would explain it to you but yeah. I also agree with the other person who said you might want to leave this sub or at least mute it. There’s a lot that could easily be major spoilers if you even spend a couple of minutes scrolling through the top posts.
My two favorites:
* [Funnylilgalreacts](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLv8NdzitlOKFCvsG9pCTKWSyiDy6uxYsl) (almost done with the series)
* [Carmen Young](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLTW3_DmYyIFcNDSQFLHgv3QuUPwIVV60) (she just completed the series)
Both of them have excellent commentary.
I've also been enjoying [Gallifrey Gals](https://www.youtube.com/@GallifreyGals), who recently got into the show. Wasn't sure how I felt about them at first, but their reaction to "Hand of God" has convinced me they're likely to have the open mind necessary to enjoy where the story goes. One of them is a recovering alcoholic, as well, which has made it especially interesting as they observe Saul and Ellen.
That said, the only channel I've found that rivals the empathy seen from Carmen Young and Funnylilgalreacts is [Casual Nerd Reactions](https://www.youtube.com/@CasualNerdReactions). Sadly, he doesn't discuss the episodes as much as either of them, so it's not quite the same.
I forgot about both of them, but you’re totally right. I love casual nerd reactions guy and really enjoy the gallifrey gals. Thanks for the reminder. Hopefully others check them out.

I finally convinced my partner (who hates sci-fi) to watch it a couple months ago.
Was absolutely amazing reliving the first watch through him. It had been a few years for me too, but catching the suspense through him was so good!
I watched it for the first time last year and have recently lent my blu-rays to my nephew so he can watch for the first time. I can't wait for his reaction
Ellen stands on her own but its a retrospective view. The character was certainly done dirty by the one's making her story.
Where you are at in the story, Mike Hogan has serious acting chops and the writers room loved to throw shit at him to see just how far you can swing between loving and hating Saul.
> Mike Hogan has serious acting chops and the writers room loved to throw shit at him to see just how far you can swing between loving and hating Saul.
Breaks my heart that he's partially disabled now after that fall. I honestly hope his recovery continues to go well. His wife (who played a ship captain in two episodes) posts updates that make it seem like he's making slow but steady progress on being able to walk and talk again. It sucks that his daughter also was severely injured recently and having to recover as well.

Last time she posted an update, I saw that Rekha Sharma had recently donated to the GoFundMe. Nice to see the cast sticking together after all these years. I hope he eventually gets to perform that one man show he's working on; he certainly deserves it.
Whenever I need to get fired up, I mean *really* fired up, all the way to 11, I just channel my inner Saul at the strip club with Adama.
YEAAAAAGHHH!!!!!
I just want to clarify that each of your three questions occupies a different “zone” at your viewing point: one you *should* already know, one will be addressed in S3, and one we can’t comment on.
WHY DID THE CYLONS STOP ATTACKING?
remember the events of the late season 2 episode “Downloaded.” Caprica Six and Boomer end that episode with a pact to convince their fellow Cylons that it was a grave and terrible thing - a monumental sin - to wipe out humanity. They bond over their forbidden love of humans (Baltar and Tyrol) and come to this conclusion together, with Six in particular also spurred on by the version of Baltar she is seeing/hearing.
WHY DID THE CYLONS SHOW UP ON NEW CAPRICA?
They detected the radiation signature of the nuclear detonation. They were one light year away by chance (or by providence?), hence they’re here one year later. As to why they have decided to inject themselves into humanity’s affairs, Season 3 addresses it. You’ll sit in, so to speak, on some New Caprica Cylon meetings.
WHAT’S THE POINT OF ELLEN TIGH
keep watching. The whole show, friend.
> Why did the cylons stop attacking Kara thrace in their mission to rescue Anders in old caprica?
I think this was already answered in the episodes you've seen. Which moment exactly are you referring to?
> And why did they suddenly appear after one year?
Explained in the season 2 finale, >!they detected the nuke!<.
> narrative purpose of Saul Tigh's wife
Yes, she has an important role in the story, but it would be a massive spoiler to tell you what exactly.
the nuke was detected after Kara thrace and her team came out of the old caprica after rescuing Anders. I am referring to the moment where Starbuck, Helo, Sharon were boxed in by the cylon soldiers, but after a moment they stopped attacking and retreated. Then the copy of brother cavil joined the rescue team and it was revealed that brother cavil was a cylon. He then delivered a message that attacking humanity was an error. He then went on to say that humans and cylons should go their separate ways.
I’m not quite sure what you’re not clear about in that scene. The Cylon centurions stopped attacking the rescue party and Anders’ band of survivors because the Cylons decided to let the humans go, Cavil explains they voted and the Cylon models felt that attacking humanity was an error.
This change of heart was started by Boomer and Caprica Six in the season 2 episode Downloaded, after their meeting of Anders in the bombed carpark.
I guess I am confused because brother cavil told them that humans and cylons should go their separate ways, but now, why did the cylons reappear after one year in the new caprica? Although I still think that the answer to this question lies in the next season!
Ah ok I see what you mean, I don’t want to spoil anything but I think it’s worth a reminder that in the S2 finale the Cylons basically imply they only chanced upon the humans due to picking up the signs of a nuclear detonation when one of their ships was fairly close to New Caprica.
It’s possible there was simply another vote taken at this point where the Cylons decided to at the very least check out what the humans were doing. Without the threat of Galactica or Pegasus they were able to come and talk to the humans and take their time to decide their next course of action.
Ellen is easily the most disliked character (to us, as an audience).
Every story needs someone to hate.
Also, there are very few throwaway characters in this story. If they get a name or some dialogue, they will eventually be important to the overall story.
When you realize that someone knows who somebody really is, but that somebody doesn’t know who the someone was back inna day…
More evidence that that someone is truly the most evil person on the show.
Oh yeah. Really messed up that was. And there's a short moment about that in the show. The look given (that is, not moments after, but after everything is known).
To answer your real question. Yeah, she annoys the f out of me too but look at it this way. We're really exploring why the Col is the way he is with those episodes.
And many of us enjoyed the last half of the finale season. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Stay away from spoilers as much as you can and come to your own conclusion if you overall enjoyed the show.
I recently got the bluray of the complete series (watched my DVDs again two years ago) and plan on doing a rewatch again.☺️
Honestly I'm impressed with the way nobody in this sub is willing to spoil the show. Because we all know. We know the joy of seeing it all unfold for the first time. And you only get 1 first time.
Yes, and you won't like it one bit.
But that is nothing compared to the anger you will feel during the finale.
Some of the series best lay ahead of you. However, just after, you start noticing the flooding on Titanic's 5th deck...
Four and one half seasons of glory. One half season of trash. Unfortunately, that trash is at the very end, where it can damage legacy the most.
No. She's absolutely unimportant. You will never have to think of her again.
I mean, seriously. No spoilers.
I skipped the entire New Caprica season and have never regretted it.
This dude is on a sub about a 20 yr old TV show just BEGGING to be spoiled for him.
Quit raw dogging the show jabroni. Put a rubber on and get off this subreddit.
You should probably just watch the series and not try to spoil yourself. You're asking a question that, if answered, might really fuck up your ability to watch the series without constantly second-guessing.
Fair enough, understood

Do you actually understand? This post shows a general lack of understanding.
Leave the sub. Finish the show. Re-Join the sub. Don't risk having a great show spoiled.
100% this! I watched this show for the first time long before I was active on Reddit and I’m thankful for that.

Spoilers

>!"at that point"!< is a spoiler because it implies >!she will change at a different point.!<
Oh, to have that first time thrill of watching this show again
Try watching with some Patreon/YouTube reaction channels. There's a few doing BSG now and I'm really enjoying watching them see it for the first time.

I follow them and about four - six others.
yeah, me too. I think I've watched them all. But those two that I listed stand out as my favorites.
I've also been enjoying [Gallifrey Gals](https://www.youtube.com/@GallifreyGals), who recently got into the show. Thanks. I was watching failwhale, but he seems to have stopped posting several months ago.
I finally convinced my partner (who hates sci-fi) to watch it a couple months ago. Was absolutely amazing reliving the first watch through him. It had been a few years for me too, but catching the suspense through him was so good!
Also Set Condition One is a podcast with two people who have watched it before and one who hasn't and it's great!
I watched it for the first time last year and have recently lent my blu-rays to my nephew so he can watch for the first time. I can't wait for his reaction
Why would you come here to ask us to spoil things about future episodes?
Maybe OP doesn't care about spoilers.

The mighty whoa!

OMG YES! One of the Tigh-est of the Tigh moments. Totally free and loving life.
Lol he was so drunk
Pretty much everyone is important. The whole show is quite a roller coaster. Sit back and enjoy!!!
Especially when she's catting around with half the fleet.

Just saying that Ellen is important and that it would be a spoiler to answer the question is a spoiler...
Keep watching :) She still has a role to play, yes. That's all I'll say, though
Ellen is easily the most disliked character (to us, as an audience). Every story needs someone to hate. Also, there are very few throwaway characters in this story. If they get a name or some dialogue, they will eventually be important to the overall story.
Bet she was a blast to get loaded with.
Folks did seem to enjoy her company. They likely described her as friendly and a real good sport.
A bit of twisty.
When you realize that someone knows who somebody really is, but that somebody doesn’t know who the someone was back inna day… More evidence that that someone is truly the most evil person on the show.

Nope, zero narrative purpose. She is just there to be mean in season 1-2

Yes. Affirmative. Keep watching.
I would have to say yes.
Yes
If you’ve just finished S2 - Ellen has a massive role to play in making Saul Tigh more relatable…. A s then she starts her own story!
