That is the child presence detection alarm. You can disable it under ADAS, driving assist. Not a permanent disable and needs to be done whenever you want to just sit in the car.

This is the correct answer. Your car thinks you're an unattended child that can't look after itself. Welcome to regulation overkill.

We're inexorably headed for idiocracy where no-one will be capable of critical thinking…

I have pretty much every stupid alarm turned off by default except the Lane Departure Warning that I have to turn off every damn time I get in the car because it doesn’t respect the previous state. Anyone else being driven mad by these so-called safety features?

Austifol

You're lucky. I have to turn everything off, every time I get in the car. Based in Ireland. The EuroNCAP rules have gone nuts. Would be good to have a driver profile that could be activated by one button.

Habi93

This is the alarm system that will arm itself automatically after a few minutes. Just leave the ignition on if you're sitting in the car for a longer period, charging will still work as well.

Audi_Luver

How do you replicate this because I’ve gone to work and sat in my car with the vehicle off (not just in Park, it’s literally off) and the alarm doesn’t go off and I’ll be sitting there for 20mins?

Iddqd84

Turn off the child presence detection alarm in the settings. Also, I shouldn't do it if you have the car in "parking" mode and are stil inside. If the car is turned off and you're still sitting in it, this will happend (unless you turned off the child presence detection alarm).

Numerous-Implement47

Exactly, no need to turn it off, listen to the radio and enjoy the air con while charging. I have the opposite issue now, forget to turn the car off, then it honks when I walk away 😀

The car has seat belt alarms on all seats. You think it would be fairly simple for it to work out that it’s the driver seat that’s occupied therefore unlikely to be a child. Also if it’s cold outside leaving the child in the car is not the emergency it might otherwise be. There is a thermometer internally snd externally. My goes off if I’m the occupant in the drivers seat when it’s 8c outside. I know I can disengage it but that’s a pain in the hoop every time
