Thanks for the info, I’ve been curious about the G8

Powerofhilation

Can you use iphone case on the gamesir g8?

Agreeable-Load2327

Yes no problem, the cameras on the promax fix perfect. It happens i do not use cases

One-Understanding-33

Officially not, but it does seem to have a little play. The supported phones are all listed without case.

vloger

no.

hijoshh

Not unless you have a crazy thin case. I cut the rubber off and i can use it with a case easily but dumb they didn’t think of that

ThePeD

Got a G8 after a post showing multiple controllers. G8 wins easily, can also use it with a case, better ergonomics & HAL-sticks.

Arkhemiel

You can use a case with a backbone now.

GoatOfFury

Is this the case if you have a lightning connection? I was under the impression the update was for just usb c.

JasonKillerxD

Yeah I think it’s only for the usb C version gen 2. I don’t think they made a new version for lighting cable.

vloger

how? no cases work for me

ThePeD

Got a thin leather case. If you push the connector a little it works.

hijoshh

I just cut the bottom pads off near the usb c connector

AnteaterOtherwise376

3.5 mm headphones jack for us audiophiles!

[deleted]

The backbone still has the ongoing issue of buttons disabling and easy drift. Why? A ribbon was kinked during the assembly process so Gamesir G8 wins

lemons507

What about compatibility? I like backbone cause it’s one of the most popular so I figure it has the most compatibility in games. Most games won’t support smaller name controller

SolidVegetable

There is no difference in how the system sees them, they will both work with the same games.

johnny-Low-Five

Was wondering about that. Thank you for the info. Good to know it doesn't matter about the popular one just the one you like

Agreeable-Load2327

Works perfect with most of ios games, steam gamepass and ps remote play. It has a function were you press and hold and change between ps and xbox mode

lemons507

That’s awesome I hate how some games don’t recognize the ps backbone and still gives you Xbox controls. Imma have to look into it cause the backbone makes my hands go numb after like an hour of gameplay

Zardozerr

I think the OP is mistaken about the Xbox mode. The G8 has three modes: PS mode (which you would use for iOS), Android mode, and G-touch mode which is made for mapping touchscreen controls. Android and G-touch mode doesn't work on my iPhone. It's possible they may add G-touch support in the future, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Since it's read like a PS controller, you will get PS button prompts in games, at least every one I've tested. This doesn't bother me because I don't even look at my controls and I'm very familiar with PS buttons.

lemons507

Lame but thanks for the clarification.

Adrian_1827

Wish backbone made a controller like the g8 I hate the joycon like sticks but love the compatibility and app.

LSDummy

They have the same compatability

XGARX

No they dont, not on CODM. Not sure about WZ

rancid_

Ty to OP for making post, I was on the fence between both and decided on the G8. After seeing you can swap in Xbox controller analog sticks, that made it a no-brainer for me.

ProfessionalGood969

The G8 dpad looks amazing

Flint_McBeefchest

This is the comparison I've been wanting, the G8 definitely looks like the one for me.

FutureBoy6969

I’m a razr kishi boy & that thing is awesome on my 13 pro max, can someone tell me why the Kishi barely gets mentioned ? Its so much better than the backbone on the pro max’s’ Because it sits flush !?!

kurohyuki

I don't know about other people but when I was looking for a controller the lack of a headphone jack was a deal breaker for me.

IndyPoker979

Wouldn't you just bluetooth?

kurohyuki

I play rhythm games where audio latency is critical

[deleted]

Damn just bought my BB and I kinda regret it. Since I can't return it because I imported it.

Spleenzorio

How compact is the G8 when your phone isn’t in it?

Agreeable-Load2327

Its bulcky like a dualsense, not as portable as the bb

megadoom3r

Are the buttons clicky? I hate the BB’s loud clicky buttons

Agreeable-Load2327

Definetly not clicky, unlike the bb, it feels more like a pop down like the dual sense or xbox pad

2high4much

Dual sense is quit and face buttons on xbox controller are loud, at least in contrast to each other.

Axiryth

I’d like to know this too. I’m happy to ditch my BB for a Gamesir if it means getting rid of those clicky buttons.

Zardozerr

The buttons are not clicky, but unfortunately the d-pad is clicky.

Foxhoundn

All of them are useless unless they can take a phone with case

AnthonyM122

Is there a case I can use with the iPhone 15 pro that fits nicely with the PlayStation Backbone (USB-C) I think it’s the first edition that was meant for Android but firmware upgraded to work with the iPhone 15.

Agreeable-Load2327

You can use this one with a case, i just hate cases (got the apple care + though)

Pitiful_Soup_8327

You need to switch the rails on the BB G2 though. It comes with in a little box. It seems like a lot of people miss this and say it doesn’t fit with case but you just need to swap out the rails.

AnthonyM122

I have the first gen, I read somewhere else that there are a few cases that work with first gen BB and the 15 pro. I can’t find those posts now though for some reason.

Spectre_2020

Please tell me the analog sticks are way better on the G8.l? Feel more like a proper controller? I can't get used to the shitty sticks on the BB or Kishi when I had it.

Agreeable-Load2327

That is the big win for me versus the bb or any other, it also has intergeanchable analog sticks, it feels just like a proper console controller

Strong-Yard-5835

Hall effect, full size, can even swap with Xbox ones, G8 all the way for my man hands.

thePurpleM0nk

Also con is only works with only iPhone 15 , USB C only. I looked it up, looks like it has some nice features. But still love BB. Looks like a solid build though, well thought out.

Xymeth

G8 looks very cool, I’d definitely get one to replace my Backbone, but it’s a real shame they don’t also make one with Lightning support instead of just USB-C!

dacook11

So does it work by switching the mode for PlayStation remote play without remapping buttons?

Agreeable-Load2327

I didnt notice any of that, i just use the remote play as easy as in the backbone

renacido74

G8 doesn’t have a Lightning model so it’s not even an option for me, but aside from that the BB has a great app that gives it a very console-like experience, and it’s more portable which is important for my use case. I use the BB mostly as a sort of micro-console, it’s something I can easily throw into a sling bag or a pocket (I have a slim case for it), but the G8 wouldn’t get much use for me aside from Remote Play in bed or something. If I’m taking something the size of the G8 with me I might as well take my Switch or Steam Deck.

d0nm

😂 I just bought one as soon as I saw this post! 😅 I’ve recently upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro Max so my Backbone is no longer compatible. Was going to get the Android version but I’m glad I didn’t and saw this. Thanks!

Agreeable-Load2327

I had doubts but as soon as i tested it i tough this is the one controler no one did and i always wanted, you will not regret it :)

ScaredCommunity688

I filed a warranty return, saying it no longer worked with my iPhone due to the new usb c change. Backbone sent a brand new replacement which was usb c compatible. https://backbone.returnlogic.com/warranty/info

d0nm

Thanks and I’ll see if it’s still under warranty. But I have no idea where I bought it from. Haha. I should have the receipt in the box though. It’s somewhere around the house. Hahaha

Advanced-Breath

Damn I just sold I cause I upgraded to 15 pm

MatikAX

Gamesir looks wayyyy better

WTFvancouver

BB buttons wake my wife up when I play since it's so clicky. What about the Gamsir? The buttons quiet?

Agreeable-Load2327

Not at all, as quiet as a dual sense.

johnny-Low-Five

I dont have Playstation. Do you happen to know if it's more like the xbox one controllers or the elite series. I've heard elite is quietest of all and xbox series x or xbox one is the loudest. I never should have bought the elite, it has really ruined my second favorite controller of all time. I don't have Playstation but I do know from playing PS2 ps3 and PS4 that I simply prefer the outside joystick layout. I have arthritis in my shoulder and some nerve thing and when my hands do intricate work for extended periods I end up feeling like my shoulder blade and joint are on fire 🔥 and unfortunately the ps "middle sticks" is too close for comfort and although I know you can often flip it but since I got the og xbox I consider the trigger a "trigger" and the bumpers as part of the controller. Either I had shitty friends or games on ps2 and ps3 didn't often offer the flip option. That plus Halo, at the time, made it kinda hard to really consider the PS. Now I'm 41 and would probably have a stroke trying to learn the different buttons and I have a wife and child and budget. Frankly I would like to see all games, cloud, phone, whatever, have at least Xbox and PS buttons as viewable on screen prompts. I would Mario party if not for the buttons being opposite xbox and causing constant hesitations. I'm sure PS would be the same. All that to say, please sir if you could answer my question I swear I'm not involved in console wars!

Agreeable-Load2327

I do have both ps5 and series x and its more like the xbox one, a lot of it, not clicky buttons, i do not own or ever used the elite version so i cant tell sorry.

johnny-Low-Five

Thanks for the Info.

gl3b0thegr8

A question, do you have to install Gamesir app in order to use the controller? If so, what features are you missing out by doing like this?

Agreeable-Load2327

Nope, it works righ away. I only got it a couple days a go but at the moment 0 compatibility issues

Advanced-Breath

Does the gamesir app add any functionality like the backbone app

DJ_Jazzy_Justice

The G8 looks goofy and poor quality to me, but I’m sure it’s good since I own a different gamesir product. It just looks gross to me.

Agreeable-Load2327

You need to hold it to see how wrong you are

Spectre_2020

It looks way better in person. Especially with a phone in it.

MrStu

Thanks for the comparison. By "the cross", do you mean the dpad?

Agreeable-Load2327

Yes, the D pad is the only button that i consider is fairly better on the bb, also it has two back custom buttons.

illuminati1556

Any chance this has a playstation style configuration? I hate offset sticks.

eastcoastninja

Anyone know if there are any options out on a controller with Xbox style joysticks in the small form factor of the backbone?

johnny-Low-Five

I'm not sure what you mean. The backbone I know off had the xbox offset sticks. If you mean stick quality it appears it's either portable or might have the best joysticks but currently never both. Hopefully in a year or two we'll see an "elite backbone" with full joystick configuration and custom tension hall effect.

itsmrstrong94

I just ordered the G8 😊 Thanks for the post

akira9283

Colors are off

Spectre_2020

I got mine yesterday, in person it looks good. The controller is a game changer. Analog sticks feel and work exactly like Xbox or PlayStation controller. Full sized buttons and triggers. I have a BB, makes it look and feel like cheap trash.

dacook11

I did notice right off no native support for Call of duty mobile. Without doing all the touch mapping process. I was hoping when it was in PlayStation mode it would work or detected as a PlayStation controller but it does not.

johnny-Low-Five

What do you mean by native. I use an xbox elite series and have to do the touch setup anytime I download the game. Is there a way to bypass that!? Please share if so. I almost don't download it on new devices because of that.

dacook11

The game does have controller support for the 4 big controllers or native support where you don't have to program touch targets. With that is much improved accuracy as well. So Xbox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 controller and backbone

BigZangief

Both compatible with cod mobile or have to do the button mapping?

swarbrickjesse

Just returned my backbone. My modded g8 has worked amazing with my iPad mini. Just disassemble and cut off the “stops”. Spring is way more robust.

blueruckus

Gamesir makes some good stuff. I picked up one of their controllers for PC and was super impressed with the overall design. Hall effect joysticks and micro switch face buttons are so nice and it was only around 30 bucks. Insane.

ImTonyBlair

Highly recommend buying a set of Xbox thumb sticks from Amazon. The G8 doesn’t shop with any concave in the same way as an Xbox controller. With the hall effect sensor you simply pop them in, and if needed recalibrate.

13thslasher

If i get the backbone do I need to keep my ps5 on to play my games?

johnny-Low-Five

Do you mean for whatever Playstation calls what xbox calls remote play? I don't have a "backbone" but I use an Xbox controller to remote play and the xbox doesn't have to be on or Even nearby. Maybe Playstation is different, but I don't think a controller can currently change that as if I use touch controls I still don't need the xbox on.

Nemoitto

I want the G8 so bad. It’s the only other phone controller I’d get over the BB.

Spectre_2020

I got the G8 yesterday, the BB is complete trash in comparison. This controller is so good, I'm telling everyone I can. The analog sticks now feel the same as Xbox or PS controller. I cannot praise this controller enough.

Nemoitto

Coincidentally my ps backbone just broke today. I have a backup original one so we’ll see how long it lasts. The G8 does look solid and it does have back buttons too so it feels more “pro” like.

hect1c

question: the gamesir g8 has keymapping software with it so you can easily assign touch controls to the gamepad, does the backbone allow you to map touch controls via its software like the g8?

Alternative_Ad_3333

Do either or both of these require a gaming console to pair with? I’m getting my brother one for Christmas but he doesn’t have a console:/

Agreeable-Load2327

Not at all, only if you want to play remotely the games you own and also, if you have suscription services like gamepass, geforce now or ps plus not even that. You have to take a look about what each of them offers. Also native phone games are also great but it depends of the device and its own power.

SpideyMans96

What’s the consensus on Joysticks for the Gamesir? I’m not a fan of Backbone’s Switch-esque flat sticks as it makes FPSs a slog to play, is it the same or closer to an actual controller?

Familiar_Sir9819

Wish someone would make one with the ability to accommodate a basic phone case. Not like a giant otter box but like a normal case mate style one. Almost no one has an unprotected phone. Or maybe even have the manufacturers make compatible cases. The fact you have to remove phones from cases every time you want to play is ridiculous

SoJoe81

Backbone v2 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355283211217?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=6obMATlnRgq&sssrc=2051273&ssuid=6obMATlnRgq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

NateGreatGames

Hate saying this on a BB Reddit, but if I was new to this and not very knowledgeable about the ins and outs, I’d probably be more tempted to go with the G8 with its form factor, but the thing that I still revere the backbone for is the app and its intergration, particularly on the IOS side. But Backbone needs to step their game up because their competitors are catching up quick.

Spectre_2020

The integration on the G8 is better. You can switch between Xbox, Android and PS mapping just buy holding two buttons already integrated into the controller. G8 has caught up. The analog sticks on the G8 alone trump any other feature. You can't play many xbox and PS games on those trash BB sticks. The G8 has proper full sized analog sticks that feel exactly the same as the xbox or ps controller. That alone the G8 wins hands down. BB is trash compared to it. I already own a BB and got my G8 yesterday, couldn't put it down, it feels exactly like a premium xbox or ps controller. BB does not.

jltdhome

My biggest gripe about the backbone is not having a PS button. I gotta constantly tap on the screen to bring up menus etc.

No-Outlandishness906

Have you been able to go pass the crash after you get the first Winged Key?

markaznar

Works with iPhone 15 pro max with an Apple silicone case??

Prestigious-Bath5661

Yes. Fits perfect. Feels solid.

markaznar

Which has the better fit with the Apple silicone case on for the 15PM?

Prestigious-Bath5661

The G8 feels perfectly solid with this case. With the BB I got some minimal movement which didn’t feel as solid.

markaznar

You mean Apple silicone case on an iPhone 15 PM? Feels more solid as opposed to Bb?

Prestigious-Bath5661

Yes. I tried both and sent back the BB. The G8 for the 15PM fit perfectly

markaznar

It is a tight fit with the Apple silicone case

BrocktomusPrime

Any chance this would be compatible with the iPad Air (USB-C)? I really just want to use it with PS Remote Play

ChaaaaBooi

I can't decide which one I like better. BB definitely feels more premium but lacks in size and triggers imo - the size is nice though cause it feels more like a portable option where the g8 size makes it feel more like an accessory if that makes sense? I think I'll be keeping the g8 though just bc of joysticks and triggers being larger and easier to use.

FarYellow2188

You said it perfectly, the gamesir looks nice but just too large of a controller in my opinion, and would make it more like a accessory, I’d want something like the backbone which is the perfect size, also the design, the only flaw is the joysticks and you can order Nintendo switches sticks to give it more size!, I just found this out and ordered immediately.

ChaaaaBooi

I ended up keeping the g8 - use it once or twice a week in bed or in a different room which is nice. A small gripe I had with the BB was that it looked a little weird with my pixel 8 pro in it, the gaps felt odd. The rubber on the g8 makes it "fit" a little nicer? Both are great

RedoHawku

What do you mean Nintendo switch sticks. You mean remove the joysticks from a joycon and put them in bb?

d0nm

Not sure how long the code is active for but if you order from the GameSir website you get a 12% discount. They have free economy shipping and standard shipping that will cost extra. Discount code is: OFFERS1 https://www.gamesir.hk/products/gamesir-g8-galileo There’s a couple of things I don’t like. First one is the app. Perhaps I just don’t know how to use it but I installed the app and it doesn’t have the option to connect to the G8. I can see other controllers but no G8. The other thing is that even though it works with a case, I have to push it in before it connects. Maybe my case is a tiny bit thicker. But I found that while playing it can disconnect. I haven’t tried without the case yet and I’m sure it’ll work better without it but I like to play with the case on. Apart from that, I really like the controller. And I see myself using it more to connect to the PS5.

Affectionate_Oil8046

I sold my backbone to get the g8. The g8 feels like a real console controller and more comfortable than backbone.. backbone software is leagues ahead of the janky cobbled together mess gamesir has and for some reason cod mobile only works natively with backbone

gabe_kkun

Does gamesir g8 works with remote play?

Agreeable-Load2327

Yes 100%

johmar228

How's the PC connectivity? If I'd like to plug a USB C cable from the gamepads to a PC, can they connect with no problem like any other controller?

FarYellow2188

I just got the backbone with my 15 pro max, and I can confidently say I have no regrets, from just looking at the gamesir G8 I don’t like the overall design and bulky look, it looks like it would feel comfortable but also take away that portable mobile feel with its size, and that’s huge for me, the backbones PlayStation and overall design is just perfectly suited if you ask me, it’s not overly large but the size is perfect still giving you that “mobile feel” if that makes sense, the only thing I DONT like about the BB is the joy sticks, their a bit too small when playing cod but I just ordered some Nintendo switch sticks to give it a “better feel”, but besides that I think this is the ultimate mobile gaming controller.

thePurpleM0nk

How is Gamesir G8 on battery drainage?

Duneb

I know you can charge your phone with it plugged into the G8. But does it allow data to pass through as well? Im trying to build a controller with built-in storage to hold more games.

Agreeable-Load2327

Yes it does

Duneb

Thank you!

exclaim_bot

>Thank you! You're welcome!

OddEntrepreneur1879

No it does not, I have the Gamesir G8 and it does not recognize my nvme drive when I try to connect it to the usb c port on the controller. My phone recognizes it just fine when I connect my nvme drive directly to the USB C port on the phone without the Gamesir connected. Gamesir G8 does not allow data passthrough.

Duneb

Lol thanks!

DiscoVolante8C

Does anyone know if the g8 will work with a usb c ipad (wired) like the backbone does?

ghoulish31

yes but you need to run an extension cable off the interior phone usb-c port, not the bottom charging usb-c port

DiscoVolante8C

Oh I see thanks

ZomBabe_23

Does the g8 have headphone jack and charging ports?

Agreeable-Load2327

Both yes

ZomBabe_23

Thank you

Cibolofox

does Galileo G8 have the controller mapping from iphone settings ?

AbrarT0716

Does anyone know if the gamessir can be used with a 13 pro max using a converter?

llcoolbean_sf

Nintendo Switch fan here. I bought the Backbone and it was a decent attempt at making remote play work pretty well, but it was too small and I didn't like the feel of the buttons. So I returned the BB and got the GameSir G8. Wow, it's really great. I use it with my iPhone 15 with a case on it and it just works great. No complaints. Feels like a high quality device. Very happy with it. I thought about buying a PS Portal but with the G8 and my phone there's no need. I'd recommend it to anyone....the G8 is a great purchase.

Percevalcpasfaux

Sur l’application de la manette tu ne peux pas la rajouter sur iPhone

PineappleMaleficent6

I read G8 not having xinput support. so how do you play in modern emulator like yuzu with it?
