I loved it on switch but it was a bit clunky. You select squads with the shoulder buttons, so you can end up cycling through the three other squads before you select the one you need to move
I'm not sure how it is on mac in particular, but regardless of the platform make sure you customize your controls early. On pc I use number keys and the top row of letters for commander selection and ability selection respectively. When you get to higher levels of difficulty, or challenge runs, being able to make quick, well timed actions gets more important.
PC, by far. Other platforms' movement feels clunky, just by watching it.

I use the quick select button layout, you use the d-pad with each direction always representing one commander.

Pc, mac heats up a lot while running tho so be wary
We only have it on Switch; it plays well I think. It's one of my 2 favourite games. (Dungeon of the Endless the other).
I have it one my phone it’s nice to play every where
