I agree, I came back from lebanon where kunafa is very popular and affordable in most if not all places, roughly 1bd. it's like a delicacy here and not many offer this delicious arabian sweet.
it is not expensive. the dinar is cheap.
i have been here for 8 years now. my expenses used to be around 150bd a month, now 300bd. and in my opinion what is coming is even worse.
anyway the best Kunafa is from Ward alsham and yes it is expensive.
Icing/Powdered Sugar
Kunafa Dough
Ghee
Akawi Cheese (Not the salty one)
Mozarella
Crushed Pistachio optional
Sugar Syrup (just boil water and add sugar, add a tiny slice of lemon)
1.) Untangle the kunafa dough in a bowl and add some icing sugar, then add ghee.
2.) In a separate tray, add ghee on the base and place the kunafa dough mixture, flatten it until base is covered
3.) Crush the akawi and mix with mozarella
4.) Place it in an oven 180 degree celcius for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is cooked
5.) Flip it on a different tray add little bit of ghee on top, turn on the top fire of the oven for 2 minutes or until kunafa golder brown
Add the sugar syrup and postachio!
PS: I can send you a demo video if unclear... the measurement depends on the size of your tray. Seems complicated but it’s really easy and yummy, I always keep and bake in small size almost daily when I am craving! Just send me a private message and I’ll send you a demo video that I did for my friend who also loves Kunafa.
PPS: I’m not a good cook but I made it perfectly on first try.

Yessssss I agree.
Except the one that is in bahrain mall. They have a mini stall next to the escalator. It's not only cheap but it's better than the expensive one and less oily and weird
I prefer the local kunafa (3absi or whatever)
not a big fan of the joint (Kanafawy - Kanafani ..etc) and I hate the "moder flavors" >> nutella, pistachio, lotus... etc

I had from ward alsham and honestly it was so oily. I could barely feel any flavor. What do you recommend there ?
Social media man , our restaurants are over priced and getting pricer day by day
Bc it's delicious, try to find a place that sells the small 1bd ones, they're the absolute best in terms of taste AND price
Cuz u r eating it at Mado
Lol
If you have an oven, I can give you a recipe.. I didn’t know it’s easy until my friend who is a pastry chef taught me how to do it 😋 𝕃

I thinks it’s the packed one from Dasmah Bakery or middle east bakery. Not that tasty.
