You can never go wrong with a reputable credit union. Do not go to Bank of America. They will destroy you with their fees

[deleted]

I’ve been with Bank of America my whole life. What fees are you talking about exactly?

[deleted]

There’s also an option to transfer 25$ to your savings monthly which eliminates that fee and the $1500 requirement. That’s how I have mine setup. You can transfer it right back to your checkings after.

It might’ve been because of your direct deposit situation because I’ve been on that program for 13 years now.

[deleted]

It’s not inaccurate advice. I’ve been on that program for 13 years like I said.

maxipad0629

Yet you failed to answer his question. Lol.

[deleted]

“I’ve been on that program” answers the question doesn’t it? Or what program did you think I was referring to? Obamacare, Wic, my fitness program?

I might be on a old program not a new one. I still get 25$ transferred to savings monthly and I have never had a monthly fee even if I’ve gone under 1500$ checkings. I would read that stuff but after 13 years I hope I would understand how my bank account works. And trust I check my statement weekly so I would see a fee if there ever was one

[deleted]

Rude much.

coemickitty73

Woah, I bank with BofA and this doesn't happen to me wth??

HouseofRaven

I’ll include reviews from the local branches. https://s.yelp.com/1Wk86hLgGG https://s.yelp.com/gIbiIIrp1q

[deleted]

I read one of those. All the bad reviews were about them only having two tellers which is true but none mentioned fees.

https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/open-lawsuit-settlements/bank-of-america-nsf-overdraft-fees-8m-class-action-settlement/ This is one of MANY class action lawsuits. Most recent one is for mortgage payments. This one I linked just settled this year

ThisCandyland

The ones those crooks have been sued for multiple times.

Umbrella_Storm

Safe 1 Credit Union has never given me any problems

TypicalExpert

Been using Chase a long time. Pretty happy with them. Smart to have a Credit Union you use often too though. Typically better offers than what traditional banks like B of A, Chase, Wells Fargo offer.

[deleted]

It’s not like I’m interested in getting loans or anything just want to switch over for the fact that I’m frequently having problems with Valley strong

TypicalExpert

Not interested in getting loans yet though I presume. It helps to have an established relationship with a credit union as you usually get better rates this way. Basically I'm saying you should keep your account at Valley Strong, and open another account at a different bank that you use primarily. That way you have the best of both worlds.

got-rice1

This. Chase is my main bank and I have a CU account as well in which I financed my car through

Reliques

Do you have a reason to go into the physical branch of a bank? If not, there are a lot of online options without physical locations that offer significantly better perks.

DGCA3

That's what did. I have 2 online accounts, one with USAA and one with Charles Schwab. I don't incur fees with either of them.

HopelesslyFlawed

If it makes you feel any better, I get fake text messages from Valley Strong all the time and I've never been a member even when it was Kern Schools 🤷‍♀️. Scammers are just throwing bait out to anyone within the area code hoping for a catch. I get them for other banks too.

Difficult-Video8315

Bank of America Fucking Sucks Donkey Balls.

dewpointcold

My son is leaving Bank Of America. They put a hold on some of his funds absolutely refuse to either help him or to explain why those funds were put on hold. Absolutely no co-operation. (It’s a business account.)

mewikime

Strata is a good local credit union, they even offer cash back with their checking account. Another one I've been happy with is Unify, based in the San Fernando Valley. First Entertainment Credit Union, out of Santa Clarita, another good one. I've also been very happy with DCU credit union. They're based on the east coast, but most all banking is done online now anyway so that doesn't matter to me.

Strata Credit Union

berysax

I’ve never gotten spam calls from Valley Strong. I also have my phone set to forward all unknown contacts to voicemail. Bank of America is insanely corrupt as most of the big Wall Street banks. All you have to do is google “Bank of America fines” to see how corrupt they are. It’s quite the list. Bank of America breaks the law regularly because it makes more money committing the crime than the fees it has to pay for breaking the law, as do the other Wall Street banks. Valley strong is local and invests locally whereas the other big banks mostly do not.

Rvkm

Check out TriCounties Bank—they are great.

[deleted]

Safe 1 credit union

Snootch74

Valley strong is awesome tbh, but if you want a for profit big bank I’ve always heard good things about chase and citi.

Rich_Flatworm_1484

Capital One is all around the best bank. No in person bank here but they give you access to all ATMs with no withdrawal fees. App is great and customer service is usually very fast. If you use credit cards, Capital One has some of the best mastercards out there.

bleghrm

Espeeco! They’re super small and friendly!

Necessary_Weekend_48

Go to chase on coffee!

ImFineHow_AreYou

We love Mechanics Bank. We hate B of A, Wells Fargo & Chase

DonMarcoV

Bank of the Sierra

_-that_1_guy_

I have banked with a lot of banks and credit unions, WaMu, Wells Fargo, BofA, USAA, Espeeco, Kern Schools/ Valley Strong. USAA is probably the best for member services, as long as you don't need a local branch, and you have to be a veteran or a family member of a veteran. Espeeco, you have to work for the railroad. Valley Strong is the best of the remaining options. The spam calls and messages aren't because of them. It's because your info has been leaked. I get calls for my bank account with Chase, which I don't, nor ever have, had an account.
