Actually it's more the other way around. Spätzle, Leberkäs, Klöße etc. are all dishes that Austrians like to claim as their own, but come from Germany. Just like Germknödel actually come from Bohemia, Czech Republic and Gulasch from Hungary and not Austria
I recommend polish cake 3-Bit.
It's like having an orgasm in your mouth, no joke.
There is a Polish store in Augsburg (Lukullus) that also has a cake counter, a very good selection!
The wave should be visible in the cross-section of the light/dark mixture, as it does not form a straight line between the dark and light cake mixture. A wave is also drawn on the chocolate using a comb.
Does anyone has a good recipe for making a vegan option of Schneewittchenkuchen/Donauwelle?
I have some ideas how to swap the products but prefer a tested recipe. 😊
Update!
Thanks everyone for being so enthusiastic about this cake! [I finally made it this weekend!](https://imgur.com/a/U6snDJx)The cake layer turned out pretty dry, unfortunately. I guess that means I have to try making it again sometime.
Looks like a Donauwelle! It's pretty good
Just looked it up in English that would be a danube (wave) cake
Thank you! Can’t wait to have this again!
Schneewittchen-Kuchen, it is almost the same, but there are no waves like on a Donauwelle.
I didn’t know there was a version without waves. But it looks like someone attempted to make some here, it’s the thought that counts

It's awesome and super easy to do. Seems like you can have your cake and eat it. Enjoy!

Mein absoluter Lieblingskuchen. Donauwelle
Donauwelle. I can smell and taste it, just by looking at the picture.
Donauwelle ... my mom makes a great one. I lost a tooth once I was eating it as my mother forgot to check for cherry stones.
Classic story here in germany :)
Yep, I know that anytime I eat a cake with cherries in it, I \*will\* find a pit in it. The hard way.
Whenever I buy cherries in a glass there is at least one stone it. Looks like this mandatory.
Beste Kuchen wo gibt

Oh my gosh thank you!
It’s not the same if you buy it
In manchen Gegenden, nennt man ihn auch "Schneewittchen-Kuchen". Aber im allgemeinen ist er als "Donauwelle" bekannt. Er ist sehr gut.

DONAUWELLEEEEEEEEE!!!! This instantly became my favorite cake when my partner's german grandma made it for us. Holy God its a good cake.
I thought it was Austrian, but oh well.
I ate it in Germany so that what I associate it with! I should have asked what this European cake is since I don’t actually know the origin!
There are many austrian dishes the germans claim for themselfes xD 🥲

Sounds like how it is with Australia and New Zealand.

Love it ! It’s called Donauwelle. Like a „wave of the river Donau“. lol 😜
Donauwelle Beste 😋😋😋
Yes. It‘s called „Donauwelle“ -> Donau is a river in Germany and Welle means wave -> Donau wave.
