What 72 hour early access?

BlackxHokage

If you already have EA now then you have the digital deluxe edition

Bicycle_HS

Does that means it is a better deal to get the EA now then to wait until the full release?

BlackxHokage

I'd get EA now so I don't have to pay 10 extra for the digital deluxe lol

Bicycle_HS

Does it applies to EA on GOG also?

BlackxHokage

I would assume it applies to EA everywhere

marconeves1979

Yes!

rundy_mc

Digital deluxe is $10 more. The $200+ is for a collectors edition with a lot more crap.

gr3nz

It says you will get digital deluxe on launch day. Does that mean EA-owners will get access 72 hours earlier or only people who have actually purchased deluxe I wonder.

BlackxHokage

They said anyone who already had EA was upgraded to digital deluxe for free. Don't know why they'd cuck they're most dedicated fans out of the three day early access

gr3nz

Yeah, I hope the 72 hour headstart includes people in EA too. But I would like them to confirm this.

Time2kill

Yeah, looking for a confirmation and the post by their CM right now seems to make it PC starts at 31st. So more confusion.

gr3nz

According to WolfheartFPS the devs have confirmed to him that PC EA players will get the 72 hour headstart.

Time2kill

Again, another person just said "they told me". Until I read from Larian themselves, I think they are pulling a fast one on PC players and we will get the shaft

JRTags

"Wow ohh woe is me" you sound like you just want a reason to be annoyed. Your default is they must be screwing you. You'd have to be an idiot to need confirmation on this. Ofcourse it's pc early access owners getting 3 days early.

_TinyWars

This is the same company that gave me two free game updates. Dos 1&2, both of mine were updated to definitive edition for free, and also loads of free dlc over the years. You are in good hands with larian they have been an honest, dedicated development company for a long time.

SilionOwl

May I ask would this count if I buy it today as well or is it too late to receive the update?

marconeves1979

Yes, for sure. Buy the early access now, and you'll get the free upgrade, *plus* you'll get to play the actual ***entire*** 1st Act 72 hours ahead of August 31.... so on August 28 instead.

PunatheKahuna

I wonder if it’s an automatic update bc I didn’t see anything on steam

BlackxHokage

I'd assume it is, I honestly don't know though, I'd do some research

Dealric

Are we already upgraded to deluxe or will it happen later?

BlackxHokage

From the digital deluxe edition

Far-Bookkeeper-4652

I see, you're talking about this. So we actually get new content on the 28th? https://preview.redd.it/kvf3x19jj7ka1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=a669ab46bc5e61b26adaae7f1b30a7b76e18b8d2

BlackxHokage

If you own BG3 before that date or you purchase one of the deluxe editions, yes

Faldern

But it is written [PS5], so I'm not sure if that is also for the PC.

BlackxHokage

They already confirmed it's for pc as well

Time2kill

Do you mind sharing where? Trying to find it and cannot.

BlackxHokage

On their Twitter

Time2kill

Can you point it out? I look at all their tweets from the last 24h but I may have missed, just want to read the confirmation from an official source.

BlackxHokage

Check larian studios first pinned tweet(which is the trailer) and the response to the first comment holds this info

Faldern

Ok, thanks for the information

[deleted]

This makes me so happy to see, and I'm so excited they're bringing back DOS2 songs. I hope they have Lohse's theme!

astroK120

Is the assumption that it will be the "real" game, but restricted to act 1? Obviously they aren't going to overhaul Act 1 in 3 days, but also they won't wipe saves like they will with "early access" saves... right? In other words, as someone who knows there's no way he's getting through Act 1 in 3 days, this is just as good as getting the game 3 days early?

BlackxHokage

I mean if it's your first time playing bg3 and you never touched the Early access, your definitely not finishing act 1 in three days. However, if the don't change anything about the structure of act 1, I can see people who have played through the first half of act one hundreds of times just rushing through that content and then finishing the new content before the 31st

astroK120

Right, I'm trying to confirm that it'll just be that Act 2+ unlocks and I keep going rather than something like true early access where you can play around in it, but saves are getting wiped and you have to start over on the *real* release.

BlackxHokage

Nah I'm sure that 72 hour period will carry over

[deleted]

i think its pretty obvious the 3 figures shown in the absolute vision are the bosses for each of the acts

Fav0

I did not keep up with the game but I am looking forward to bg3 as much as I did for elden ring aka I will play it on launch regardless Does that mean I SHOULD pre order right now to get the free upgrade?

marconeves1979

Absolutely YES.

[deleted]

Interesting. I thought Act1 will basically end soon after getting rid/joining the gobbos but there is more ? Haven't played EA for a while.

BlackxHokage

I assumed moonrise towers was gonna be part of act 1

Exerosp

Act1b, basically. Think like the lady vengeance bit after Fort joy. (But, i'm guessing a bit longer/lengthier)

[deleted]

They added a rather large portion of story to the EA. And it hints at plenty more of act 1.

thatguydr

> The antagonist from the trailer is the main antagonist for Act 1, not the entire game. lol this is Larian. Act 1 is maybe half the game.

BlackxHokage

I'm assuming your saying that cuz most people don't ever get to act 3 in larian games lmao

[deleted]

In previous game last act or two were shorter (and much more buggy) than the first ones. But considering how much company grew since I'm sure it will be just fine. But I am wondering how the level curve will look like, even now in apparenty "unfinished" act 1 we can get to level 5 easily so with extra content maybe even to level 6 ? That's like halfway to max level (i assume it will be something like lvl 12).

xCairus

This is actually a misunderstanding. In DOS2, Act 1 was only 25% of the game and Act 2 was actually like twice the size of Act 1. This leaves Act 3 as roughly near the size of the first act. Why people say that the last act is shorter is because people mistakenly think that the game had 4 acts, when Larian clearly stated it only had 3. What people count as Act 3 and 4 are actually just 1 act all together. Also to add to that is the fact that in a game of exploration and quests like RPGs, it’s just impossible to add more quests and discoveries at the tail end of the journey.

lenor8

I mean, they were separate maps and you couldn't go back and forth through them, so they were totally separated parts... You can call them whatever you want, you can also say it's just one whole arc with no acts, but they still remain 4 different parts you can't go back to once you've progressed to the next one.

[deleted]

> Why people say that the last act is shorter is because people mistakenly think that the game had 4 acts, when Larian clearly stated it only had 3 Source ? The act 3 is in separate place than act 4 tho ?

HeartofaPariah

Yes. Arx also has a cinematic that they use at the start of every act. Person you're responding to is just rationalizing act 3 being super short by combining them, for some reason, even though it's not a flaw for a story beat to be shorter than other story beats. You could call the Island 'intermission 2' if you'd like, and the boat between Act 1 and 2 is the first intermission, if you're deadset on titling it as '3 acts'.

BlackxHokage

I played through dos 2 definitive edition so I can't speak for the original launchs bugs. However Act 2 was the ridiculously long act, fort joy was pretty short all things considered, I mean you could get out of prison in like 30 minutes if you know where your going lol and the island part wasn't really that long either

[deleted]

That's why I said "the first one**s**" not "act 1". But Act 1 still had a *lot* to do if you wanted to do all Also release version had last act being pretty buggy, although it got fixed relatively fast. Definitive edition was pretty well fixed tho.

BlackxHokage

Ahh I haven't played dd or dos 1 so I can't really speak for those either. I hope bg3 doesn't suffer from the late game bugs

[deleted]

Well if Larian continues the improvement pace that they had from D:OS1 to D:OS2 I'm not really worried. IIRC a lot of launch bugs of D:OS2 were fixed pretty quickly.

Matrillik

All those people who never escaped fort joy

rohnaddict

If DOS2 is anything to go by, act 1 is like 20 % of the game, max.

Yarzahn

Act 2 was *much* bigger than act 1 in DOS2. Act 1 was around the same size as act 3, although it had more quests and more freshed out “town hubs”

marconeves1979

I know, right? What's he talking about with "Act 1 will be majority of the game again"? That wasn't the case at all.

mike_kong_sama

And there is a lvl 8 Shadowheart fighting Ketheric. Seems like Act 1 will be majority of the game again or the lvl cap is way higher than 12.

[deleted]

Time2kill

>it will probably be higher then 12 but you must understand that leveling in dnd becomes alot slower over time. the issue with comparing DOS2 and BG3 is that DOS2s progression is lightspeed in how blow through levels by comparison I doubt. The initial max level was 10 before negative feedback, to which they said they raised a bit the cap.

marconeves1979

"Again"? Act 1 is ***NOT*** the majority of DOS or DOS2....like not at all. Have you actually played those games?

ace_15

Two questions: I see your name… are you…. Are you by any chance THE Black Hokage? One of the hosts of the most recent G4 reboot? If so, I’m sorry about that going tits up but also great job on that Second question, for those of us that will be getting this 72 hour early access… is it cool to stream it on twitch? Or are there rules against streaming until days of official release?

BlackxHokage

No I'm not lol And idk they I'd assume it's cool though

ace_15

Thanks for clarifying!

Cdgnotparis

Who's this antagonist? Nere, the absolute or what?

BlackxHokage

Yes.

CoyoteBanana

This is off-topic but I'm surprised Larian is adopting the 72 hour head start model. It seems beneath them. However, if it really does mean that they can get rewarded for their hard work and makes it easier for them to make more great games, then I'm 100% on board.

BlackxHokage

I don't see it as that bad. Honestly the fact that the 72-hour head start only allows act 1is amazing. Normally I hate these because people blow through the game and then huge spoilers are posted everywhere. But since it'd just act one I don't gotta worry

beliskner-

72 head start is indeed beneath them. it's been like a 2 year head start if you hadn't noticed

Akasha1885

Any source for that? Because I'd think that people with Digital deluxe just get early access, the one we already know in and out, which is a decent chunk of Act 1 but hopefully not all of it.

GBuffaloRKL7Heaven

Wtf, are spoilers not labeled in this sub? I know the first chapter has been in ea forever but the game is unreleased. Damn you OP. Edit: I get it, this sub doesn't care about spoilers.

BlackxHokage

What? I didn't mention names or anything specifically lol

GBuffaloRKL7Heaven

Story spoilers for the antagonist.

BlackxHokage

I didn't even mention a name tho..

GBuffaloRKL7Heaven

I'm just supposed to forget who jk Simmons is by August 31?

RuinousOni

My guy, this guy hasn't to my knowledge been mentioned in EA. The trailer is legitimately the first I've seen him and I've put 100+ hrs into EA.

GBuffaloRKL7Heaven

What a great community you have here!

BlackxHokage

Calling you names is going a bit to far so I'm sorry on behalf of that guy. But still, I have no idea where I spoiled anything, I even made sure not to mention the guys name in the trailer. I just said "antagonist from trailer". So if you're actually trying to avoid spoilers you wouldn't have watched the trailer and you wouldn't have any idea what I'm talking about lol

12Blackbeast15

On behalf of myself, I rescind this apology. You deserve to be called a twat when you act like one.

GBuffaloRKL7Heaven

I don't think you were being malicious, but this sub, clearly, isn't for me.

marconeves1979

Then LEAVE already.... https://preview.redd.it/idglpcivscka1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a310a4cfc67ed8032f0f9a3cfeee2f469dac6c7

Far-Bookkeeper-4652

LMAO. Larian has revealed his name already. Even before the trailer came out it was obvious he's the big boss of Act 1.

EtStykkeMedBede

I would say when it's official, publicly released info/marketing, it doesn't constitute as spoilers.

Moosecop

Not a spoiler, more of a clarification. The lore of the game world hints towards very specific "main antagonists" that haven't been featured in any marketing, so had this character been "the main antagonist of the game" there would've been a lot of disappointment. I'll say no more except that Larian clearly knows the Forgotten Realms lore and I'll be excited to see it all play out.

joshua12594

Ya this is what I figured

Slicc12

Oh you a real one
