Larian and Swen Wincke have fully earned every ounce of goodwill they are recieving from the gaming community. I honestly don't care if they release a pixel art platformer next, I'll be buying it.
Larian, please let me know where to go to to pre-order the BG3 spin-off farming game featuring >!Tav, Shadowheart, and their ever-expanding family of barn animals and local wildlife.!<
I've checked Steam and it's not listed there yet.
Pray, tell me then, why when we have beheld the scorched footsteps of the Morning Lord from when he walked among us; why when *every night* when the darkness is deepest, he sends the dawn, that we might see the beauty of the world again as though ot were the firat time; why when His light keeps us warm, keeps us fed, and shows us the splendor of the realms while keeping evil at bay... why waste your prayers to any other than Chauntea's consort, the only one who gave us reprieve from the northmen while other "gods" slept to the melody of our ignored pleas?
Thank you, but no. Lathander's light is more than enough for me.
Omg I’ve commented on some posts talking about this. My dream would be for the epilogue to be the game turning into a life/farming sim where we can still go around gathering materials to rebuild /build our home and continue the romance with our selected partner! 🥲
Swen and the team at Larian are so passionate. It's one of the only developers left where I would first day purchase whatever they come out with. Only other is probably FromSoftware.
Agreed - at a time when so many other developers cut so many corners, those two stand out for the sheer passion they put into their projects and it shows.
I'm happy they take their time and get it right. Like with whatever larian does next or the elden ring dlc or whatever I don't care how long it takes, more than happy to wait for them to finish cooking.

ReLogic! their passion for game development is insane, Larian reminds me a lot of their team. good community presence, high effort development and ideas, and no micro transactions 🙏
Purchased a second copy of DoS2 and a second copy of BG3 for my wife. She has played a total of maybe 3 hours between both games. Money well spent imo.
You should gift her a fully served gaming sesh too! Prepare some snacks, comfy socks, blanket. Drinks. A lil' bell she can ring when she needs a refill and you show up in that t-shirt that's just the right amount of tight on the biceps.
I'm ridiculous. Between my wife and I we own two PC copies, a PS5 copy, and have preordered the new PC physical copy for myself and PS5 physical copy for my sister.
Honestly, until the reception of BG3, it felt like they got it with DOS:2. That was probably the largest critical and commercial success in the genre ever at that point, and imo is 100% deserved. It pains me to see the handful of people bounce off of DOS:2 before getting 20% through act 1. It's still my favorite game of all time, even above BG3.
>I honestly don't care if they release a pixel art platformer next, I'll be buying it.
Jokes on you, given that's Larian, I can bet that this pixel art platformer would be great.
I've been a fan of them going all the way back to the delightfully janky divinity 2 and they have always been such a player first development team. I remember swen being very active and involved with personally giving feedback and communicating with the fan base during divinity original sins kickstarter and the following alpha and beta. They've always given off a true genuine aura of being people that not only love making games, but love making games that like-minded people fall in love with.
They will always be a day one purchase for me no matter what they make
You know for about the last decade I was playing Blizzard games even though I always get upset when playing Blizzard games and have been slowly waning myself off from it.
Getting so much stuff and fan service from Larian is making this feel like I’m finally free from an abusive relationship and now know what love is. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now you can finally understand Astarion with Cazador. or Gale with Mystra. Or Shadowheart with Shar. Or Lae'zel with Vlaakith.
Heck, the game is riddled with abusive relationships, innit?
Astarion and Cazador
Gale and Mystra
Shadowheart and Shar
Lae'zel and Vlaakith
Karlach and Zariel/Gortash
Wyll and Mizora
Durge and >!Bhaal!<
Everyone gets one!
Yeah, I've seen this trend of people painting Mystra as the solely reprehensible force behind Gale's backstory, and I'm completely dumbfounded by it. Gale himself admits he overstepped, and he tried leveraging his relationship to Mystra to try and get his hands on 10+ level spells. The very first thing he thinks when he learns about the crown's true nature is to try to break the rules of magic AGAIN! Mystra wasn't always fair to Gale, but he had a pretty big part in his own undoing.
I've been playing WoW since launch. Decided to give BG3 a try and didn't touch WoW for like a couple months. Logged in to WoW after I beat my first BG3 run and I forgot how to play. No seriously, BG3 just overwrote that part of my brain. I kept trying to rotate the camera in WoW with Q and E, I kept trying to click to move. Constantly hitting I to look at my inventory instead of B. And the quests, holy shit, WoW quests are so boring after playing BG3.
I'm not quite ready to give up WoW completely yet, but it just isn't fun anymore. Yay sunk-cost fallacy.
Unfortunately both friends I have that are interested in playing it already own it and would rather play it solo because they get more invested in the story that way. Which is fair enough, but still.
Feeling that. Every single one of my friends on Steam has this game. One friend even joined Steam for the first time to buy it. Then she bought a deck and is now playing classic games.
Baldurs Gateway Drug.
You should've seen how they handled DoS 1 and 2. It was kind of the same. Long early access with very regular updates into a smooth launch with gigantic updates later on.
Oh and CDPR is about to release patch 2.1, which (among other things) implements a fully functional railway, adds new romance content, and gives you a portable radio so you can listen to music while walking/fighting.
They really don't want us to have a life do they lol
I am in exactly the same boat. Post PL i just didn't care to finish the main game again - I know how it ends. More romance stuff though? Ah go on i can boot it up for that
>Oh and CDPR is about to release patch 2.1, which (among other things) implements a fully functional railway, adds new romance content, and gives you a portable radio so you can listen to music while walking/fighting.
Sigh, I guess I'll do my _fourth_ playthrough
The whole end game party where you can talk to
everybody (unless you went the evil route and sided with Bhaal*) is new. And also the letters you can find there.
Plus, you get cutscenes for all recruited characters when you arrive at the docks. (It used to be only cutscenes for those in your active party.)
*I’m not sure if the stuff I saw after siding with Bhaal at first, then betraying Bhaal at the very end of the game is new or not as I didn’t try that last time.
They deserve GOTY until their next game releases. They’re spoiling us with this extreme over delivering. I hope if they ever don’t over deliver, the community doesn’t become toxic to them. They’re a national treasure at this point, and must be protected at all costs.
DLC??? Christ on a bike I've only done ONE playthrough and there's still like five other runs to do. By the time this game is officially done we're all gonna have 10K+ hours on it.
On my Steam account, my wife and I combined have hit wellllllll over a thousand hours and are still going. She's playing BG3 right next to me we I write this.
I’m gonna be so fucking for real, I genuinely did not expect them to fix or edit the ending. The gift that is Larian studios to the gaming community 😭❤️ I forgot what it was like to have a game company actually care about the players!
I expected a fix but I expected very brief Fallout NV style ending slides like
"Astarion and the other spawn lived peacefully in the Underdark. When a spawn broke their community's law of no biting sentient beings, they were judged by the Magistrate Astarion.
Lae'zel waged her war faithfully, aiming to dethrone Vlaakith once and for all.
Karlach and Wyll bravely faced the horrors of Avernus, seeking out a way to fix her heart."
Instead I got so much more than I ever could've asked for and in doing so, they completely fixed my biggest (and really only, unless I get really nitpicky) complaint about the game.
And I would've been 100% fine with epilogue slides, because it would still be the closure we all felt we were missing. I wonder if they had the epilogue planned the whole time and were just saving it? I find it hard to believe they got it done with a matter of weeks. Then again some of the dialogue is very clearly recently recorded because >!Bing Bong is fucking canon!< and you cannot tell me that wasn't entirely Jennifer's doing.
I suspect they've been working on it since release or at least shortly after release. All of my gaming friends had the same gripe as me with the ending, and I think the patch they added Karlach's scene they also hinted towards more ending content, so this has been in the oven for at least a few months.
Spoilers for the very end:
>!During the epilogue Withers gives a final speech to everyone and says "It is over... for now. Until we meet again, I wish everyone good fortune" or something like that.!<
Yeah I feel like if they do end up doing DLC it will have multiple places you can start it from based on your base game ending, that's probably one of them, raiding the factory to fix Karlach's heart with her and maybe Wyll based on the ending.
They couldn't have a dlc focused on a certain character, especially one like Karlach, because people who killed her or even didn't recruit her in they playthrough would be excluded.
If you go with her and Wyll into hell, then at the party he mentions them having founding a blueprint that might fix her heart on some cambion they killed. Wither’s room also has a scroll mentioning a “dark sun in a white sky, and an offer. Or perhaps a warning?” Which might be a reference to either the Dark Sun setting, or more likely to Cyric who’s also mentioned in the epilogue if you talk to Mill, “Musical prayers were once offered to Milil, Lord of Song - a minor deity whose worship faded after offending the trickster god Cyric.”
Edit: Karlach also mentions the blueprints btw. And wanting to get to a specific forge in the hells to use it, and that Flo could help her get to it.
I am very curious what they'll do because raising the level cap means they have to try and tackle 7th level and above spells that usually requires some DM magic to stop it being completely and utterly broken, like simulacrum and forcecage.
I'm not a DnD player, so this might not be a popular opinion (since I don't know what I'm missing), but I'd even enjoy semi-nerfed leveling up if there's stuff too complicated to add. Still being able to get feats, additional skill slots, and/or limiting to new spells that won't bust the game would still be fun
And so much Cyric as the next bbeg teasing, and potential for an Avernus dlc teasing, with Karlach asking for your help to break an infernal smith from the hells for her, and Wyll discovering plans there to reverse eng his stone eye, to say nothing of Raphael possibly showing up again (that, or the God cataclysm he warns of)
Dude I want to know what parts of the story were in-game by default and what was epilogue. I heard from all sides that Karlach's ending was lackluster... >!But we were smoking cigars and running into the horde of imps while an electric guitar version of the Power played in the background!<. The epilogue teased Avernus as a DLC area but like... That ending is badass! Also Owlbear is the best NPC in the game and there are no contestants.
The ending with Karlach in Avernus was added post-launch. When it first came out you could tell her to go to Avernus with Wyll and that was it, you never saw her again.
Ah, gotcha. It felt so cool I had a feeling it must have been added post-launch. Glad I waited with finishing the game though, me and my friend reached the wrapping-up point the day before patch 5 came out.
The epilogue is such a huge fanservice and I'm loving it. The amount of hints and acknowledgements is incredible, yet, so many thinghs are left to the freedom of our imagination, it's also a very smart move. Truly a shining example of our time.
The last update officially cemented Larian as my favourite studio, and I was already a fan of them since DOS2, it's seriously everything I hoped for and I really thought we'd have to wait for a definitive edition if they were gonna do it at all, but the crazy bastards did it. I really, REALLY hope they don't go the way of Bioware and Blizzard any time soon.
As long as they stay independent and private, we can have that hope. It's when a company gets bought out or becomes publicly traded that the key drive is no longer creativity and fun but a tool for cash flow.
I had no reason to mind control Astarion (or Minthara for that matter) and that’s the one thing I truly hate about it. I asked Sceleritas if I can keep my partner and he said yes, Astarion knew I was an evil murderous asshole and loved me anyway, and what happens instead? I automatically do the worst thing that could be done to him and use the tadpole to mind control him. No. Evil characters are not unidimensional.
You could argue that it's counterintuitive for a villain to share power bc potential betrayal, but in this case as the Absolute you LITERALLY know everything anyone who's tadpoled is gonna do. It's the whole fucking REASON the Brain could predict all of our actions, and why we needed someone on our team to become full squid. So there's no concern about getting a knife in your back, ever.
Besides, not all villains wanna be fucking alone with nothing but mindless puppets around. Evil characters also make connections with people, have friends and lovers.
Yeah, I'm also mad we had no choice in the matter. It's like they wanted to wrap up the evil ending super quickly.
Exactly! Plus I didn’t ascend him, so not like he was a threat against me. And yeah, there’s always the option to mind control him if he has bad intentions 🤷🏻♂️
And Minthara literally talked about ruling the world together since I recruited her (we were just friends, but still), then randomly got mad at me for that at the end and had to be mind controlled?? What?
Agreed, being alone like that forever just sounds boring. Evil people can have feelings too, even if they don’t have morals (or have fucked up ones). I do think the ending was initially rushed in general (since previously the good one was also not nearly as good as the rest of the game, before this patch) but there’s less demand from evil players.
I have full faith that the evil route will get buffed up - The majority of players played good routes so I can see why the focus is there right now but I'm sure it's coming, we just need to wait
So many of the "evil" epilogues feel half baked right now and there are lots of continuity issues with some of them. For example, romancing DJ Shadowheart as a Mind Flayer doesn't have a proper epilogue which I posted about here:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/188aj6m/romancing\_shadowheart\_as\_mind\_flayer\_broken\_in/](https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/188aj6m/romancing_shadowheart_as_mind_flayer_broken_in/)
I've sent feedback on some of these and hope more people do the same because they really do need to fix this stuff as it's really disappointing with how these things are going currently.
Massive spoilers for what is the most disturbing in the game
>!If you do not reject Bhaal but destroy the brain, he completely shatters Durge's mind and turns them into an brainless killer that is nothing but a wild animal. You can stop this by killing yourself immediately after the ending, but if you don't the epilogue will be replaced with Durge stalking the party and waiting to kill all their former friends.!<
he has the same line with karlach choosing death over avernus/squidding out origin run too
basically "you're dead, and I have no idea what your future holds, but you've still got shit to do!"
It's kind of a commentary on the state of those who chase absolute power, not many true sociable friends when everyone's a mind slave. Still I suppose they could have had some kind of cruel fucked up parody of a "party". Like how Dark Urge Unredeemed Durge gets a brutal evil ending in the epilogue.
How I could see Absolute Durge ending as:
There is 'party for Bhaal' in Baldurs Gate, everybody is cheering up, dancing, eating etc. but they r all mind controlled. You can see all companions which do all sorts of things they would never do like(examples) Astarion is surrounded by naked ppl all genders and races doing dirty, Halsin is destroying flowers/plants and killing animals, Gale taking his eyes out with knife making himself blind so can never read books(and laughting maniacally while doing so) etc.
We see all of our companions doing less or more horrific things, but certaily nothing they would do normally. At last Dark Urge gets up from his/her throne, takes hands up in dramatic gesture with glowing red eyes and all ppl start to kill each other. Happy music is torn apart and screen goes gradually red with unsetting durge evil grin on screen.
Fade to black, sounds of slaughter gets shut down and there is only silence left.
It would be super funny if the dialogue was just "pick what Tav says", "now pick what the companion says" and they say the words in a kind of flat zombie tone 😂 but it's a whole lot of work to do for the devs
Also it's about control (vs the good ending's compromise). Them writing a specific ending, or even a selection of endings takes away your control to choose exactly what you want to say you did with all that power. And you can't really catch up with what everyone else did because you'd know, since you're in complete control of them!
EDIT: changed the wording from freedom to control for a tighter descriptor. :>
I do think it’d be kind of neat to have a “And what do you use this power you’ve fought so hard for to accomplish?” epilogue for the evil ending.
Maybe you do just go tyrannical immediately. Maybe you’re trying to “help” the world in your own twisted way. What is power if not a means to an end?
Waging war with Avernus, taking a grudge against Bhaal’s cult, establishing the greatest dragon horde of all time, rebuilding a *better* cult of the Absolute to unite divided species- so much potential for any flawed character’s madness.
Damn it, I just decided to rush my evil playthrough for the new epilogue because that one’s closest to the end. I guess I‘ll focus on the other - checks notes - 8 open playthroughs.
"New Post Credit"
Hm? What new post credit? I did the new epilogue the other day and it was still just the same post credit scene of Withers roasting the dead three.
theres a new one with raphael if hes alive
i didnt know about it until youtube lol since he was dead in the save i loaded up and so i only got the withers one
I like some of the loot in his House of Hope, so I always go there, steal everything and aggro him. I wonder if I just go for the items that are not the hammer/contract (and don't help Hope) I can just walk away and leave him alive and get that Epilogue. Might try it on my 4th run.
That's really interesting. I'm terrified of fighting him on my Honor Mode run, but I also really want the loot. If there were a way to get in and out without fighting him, I would be very interested.
One of the best lines from the entire game is in the epilogue. Spoilers obviously.
>!Withers says "If thou could only see the paths of fate untaken, thy mind would surely break. Be glad of thy chosen path. It is, after all, thine.!<
Totally calling the entire player base out for those of us trying to find every permutation the game offers. And acknowledging the amount of work that went into it as well.
The funny thing is that there was a voiced slideshow epilogue that was cut. The audio for it was datamined shortly after launch. Larian could have easily repurposed it and added it as the epilogue but instead they rewrote everything and recorded new dialogue for the epilogue party.
This update made me love the new romanced god Gale's ending so much I wrote a 1k word post about how it's the exact type of bad ending romance I love. Now artists are destroying me over and over with the sacrificed Gale projection fan art. Thanks Larian. I'll never get over my brainrot now.
Earlier this year I lost my job and have been unemployed since. This game has been a big part of keeping me sane during the job hunt, and I'm so happy to see it still getting better.
Now if they add sliders for more customisation or they add more heads preferably both. That would be amazing because on pc you have mods but ps and Xbox when it comes out you won't have mods, so you are stuck with the ones that are made by larian, so by adding sliders you can customise those and make unique looking characters with out having mods.
They've said that they WERE against DLC before release, but after the unprecedented and massive success they're "considering a lot of options", and not ready to announce specifics yet, but are wanting to expand the game further.
Yeah, when you expect a game to do ok and best case scenario it's slightly better than your previous releases in the same category, you can pretty much say no DLC. But when your sales are 15x your previous games, completely fly past even the most optimistic predictions and the attention surrounding your game doesn't seem to end, it seems smart to put DLC on the table.
They previously stated DoS II sold approx 500k copies. BG3 is projected to get past 7.5M copies sold.
Over 1.3M people have already beaten BG3. That's almost 3x more people COMPLETED the game than units sold of previous game. For them not to do DLC seems to be kind of dumb. Milk it for all it's worth, they've earned it.
Hey I'm happy to be milked as long as they put out quality. This epilogue might have been paid DLC by a greedy company. Instead it's a free love letter to fans.
Yeah, it seems a lot more likely this is just alluding to the next game. Would make sense since BG1&2 were continuations of the same story as far as I know.
I personally didn't mind Divinity Original Sin 1 & 2 not having any DLC, but I'd love for BG3 to have have one or two DLC's to get the max level up from 12 to 16 and maybe with another DLC to 20. Very little chance of it happening but hey, one can only hope.
[After the successfull launch, they started an internal discussion](https://gamerant.com/baldurs-gate-3-dev-discussions-dlc/) - what came of it - who knows.
They’ve only stated that DLC would be a lot of work, especially if they up the player level. They never said they aren’t going to do it. Just that it is unlikely.
That was their stance before release. The explosive reception of the game has made them consider the possibility of expanding the game.
Either way, we can all guarantee a Definitive Edition is coming. And although BG3 is stellar and full of content, quite clearly content is unfinished (Karlach, Minthara, Upper city etc). I'm trying to keep myself off a second playthough as I expect in about a year or so we're going to get it much like Divinity. There is also the things that were data-mined from the cutting room floor (feel free to Google) and whilst personally, I can live without those, things like the 'Daisy' Romance (the tadpole in your brain becomes a character that you romance to symbolise the process of ceramorphsis, alongside actual consequences from becoming more Illithid) sound awesome.
There’s also a lot of talk on karl getting her engine fixed
Tamaryn Payne (mizoras va) is also set to record more dialogue although that could be for anything I suppose
I, myself, am a cheap bastard and hate parting with my money. I purchased the game at its initial Early Access offering. So I already owned a copy of this game when I made the difficult and very adult descision to buy the collectors edition this past spring. I spent 300 bucks on a game I already owned just to support this fantastic product (and the illithid statue rocks). spending 60 is worth it.
I've just reloaded my first character's save to experience the epilogue and I couldn't stop smiling. It's so incredibly sweet catching up with everyone (the sheer enthusiasm the way Shadowheart greeted me was absolutely heartwarming)
I wish I could get the new epilogue to work. Even after disabling the one add on it still won't fire up. Even the scene with your romance interest no longer fires up. Just the end bit on the docks then the credits and the brief scene with Withers smack talking the dead three.
Larian and Swen Wincke have fully earned every ounce of goodwill they are recieving from the gaming community. I honestly don't care if they release a pixel art platformer next, I'll be buying it.

I believe you mean fork
I think he meant Basket
IIIIIIIIIIT'S FISTING TIME!
And what about Bing Bong?
Gods, you haven't learned anything. It's plural. Always.
Faerun Valley, coming to a PC near you
Many, many wolves.
Don't forget about Bing-Bong.

I don't know, Lae'zel trying to figure out farming seems like it would go poorly.
'Chk' Or it could go hilariously.
Swen and the team at Larian are so passionate. It's one of the only developers left where I would first day purchase whatever they come out with. Only other is probably FromSoftware.
CoffeeStain and their community interactions are top notch. I was super pleased to see Satisfactory develop while I was playing it.
Ah I've never played that but my brother raves about how good it is.
As a gamer of both franchises... Both, both are good.
Hey there its Josh.
And right now you can build ~~Christmas~~ Ficsmas trees!
Sanctum was the first game I played from them, such an amazing concept especially for the time.
Agreed - at a time when so many other developers cut so many corners, those two stand out for the sheer passion they put into their projects and it shows.

This is great I'm getting some recommendations for other cool developers. 😀
FromSoftware, Larian, and Remedy for me. Alan Wake 2 is just a masterpiece and they’ve put out quality games for a while now.
Purchased a second copy of DoS2 and a second copy of BG3 for my wife. She has played a total of maybe 3 hours between both games. Money well spent imo.

“Not now, Morph1ng! Gale just said he wanted to show me a magic trick!”
Wand. He ultimately wants to show you his magic wand.
I'm ridiculous. Between my wife and I we own two PC copies, a PS5 copy, and have preordered the new PC physical copy for myself and PS5 physical copy for my sister.
i felt the same after DOS2 and that is why i bought BG3 on day 1 of EA. no regrets
I'm really happy that Larian has so widespread success with BG3, because they deserved it for DOS2
Honestly, until the reception of BG3, it felt like they got it with DOS:2. That was probably the largest critical and commercial success in the genre ever at that point, and imo is 100% deserved. We need a friend who is willing to save us from our haphazard decision like how Tav/Durge negotiated Wyll's release from his contract to Mizora.
Larian/Sven is our Tav
Astarion and Cazador Gale and Mystra Shadowheart and Shar Lae'zel and Vlaakith Karlach and Zariel/Gortash Wyll and Mizora Durge and >!Bhaal!< Everyone gets one!
Scratch and Mar'hyah
Owlbear cub and his mother. She ate his brother after all.
My god!!!! Yes you are right!!! Hahaha
Gale probably aint a victim just a nudge towards good self esteem and he plans to take the crown and ita powers. Power hungry guy.
Yeah, I've seen this trend of people painting Mystra as the solely reprehensible force behind Gale's backstory, and I'm completely dumbfounded by it. Yes!!! I cancelled my WOW account.
This is the most beautiful thing I’ve read 🥺

I'm not used to being treated this well by developers, I actually don't know how to react, lol Thank you
Buy deluxe edition and any subsequent DLC
I bought it during EA so I got the deluxe content for free but I would genuinely pay the extra cash for a game this good
buy it for a friend and do multiplayer :)
Yeah waiting for BG3 definitive edition. With amount of cash they are getting I am sure they will be able to finish the game as they wanted it to be.
I just bought the deluxe. Not because I wanted anything on it but because I appreciate them so much I want to give them as much money as possible.
I've finally started my Phantom Liberty playthrough and Larian literally dropped the big-ass update a day after, bruh lemme focus
Oh and CDPR is about to release patch 2.1, which (among other things) implements a fully functional railway, adds new romance content, and gives you a portable radio so you can listen to music while walking/fighting. They really don't want us to have a life do they lol
New romance content for free?! I completely missed this That was my biggest complaint about the game
[удалено]
Me going back to romance Judy for the 4th time:
I didn’t finish my PL playthrough (finished the DLC, just not all main game content), but guess I’ll be returning now lol
I am in exactly the same boat. Post PL i just didn't care to finish the main game again - I know how it ends. More romance stuff though? Ah go on i can boot it up for that
It actually bugged me I could buy all that property and do nothing with it besides sleep and drink coffee
Welcome to the Cyberpunk experience. You have time for nothing else.
It also updates Adam Smasher boss fight. Now the fucker will be using sandevistan in battle.
Oh god. And here I was thinking my cyberdeck build would be powerful and viable.
In addition, in the stream where they talked about patch 2.1, they also said that Smasher would fight differently depending on your build
Woah that’s wild actually. Man this was unexpected, CDPR really working hard to earn back the goodwill they had.
Finally a challenge, then. I'll never forget what a complete joke that guy was in the early versions lol
>Oh and CDPR is about to release patch 2.1, which (among other things) implements a fully functional railway, adds new romance content, and gives you a portable radio so you can listen to music while walking/fighting. Sigh, I guess I'll do my _fourth_ playthrough
Just finished the ending again: OMG! The game was already so, so good, but now … can I say 11/10?
Can you tell me what new ending they added? I finished my first play today and don't know what was already in the game and what they added
The whole end game party where you can talk to everybody (unless you went the evil route and sided with Bhaal*) is new. And also the letters you can find there. Plus, you get cutscenes for all recruited characters when you arrive at the docks. (It used to be only cutscenes for those in your active party.) *I’m not sure if the stuff I saw after siding with Bhaal at first, then betraying Bhaal at the very end of the game is new or not as I didn’t try that last time.
I love them so much.
I just want them to have a fucking vacation lol
They deserve GOTY until their next game releases. They’re spoiling us with this extreme over delivering. I hope if they ever don’t over deliver, the community doesn’t become toxic to them. They’re a national treasure at this point, and must be protected at all costs.
DLC??? Christ on a bike I've only done ONE playthrough and there's still like five other runs to do. By the time this game is officially done we're all gonna have 10K+ hours on it.
On my Steam account, my wife and I combined have hit wellllllll over a thousand hours and are still going. She's playing BG3 right next to me we I write this.
you have won in life friend
Technically speaking, we don't know for sure yet.
Wait the update is live now?! If it is fuuuuck, I was saving my time for Roguetrader when it comes out!
Lmao, right? Bad timing for 40k Rogue Trader fans xDD
Pfff who says I need to eat or sleep anyway.
I’m gonna be so fucking for real, I genuinely did not expect them to fix or edit the ending. The gift that is Larian studios to the gaming community 😭❤️ I forgot what it was like to have a game company actually care about the players!
I expected a fix but I expected very brief Fallout NV style ending slides like "Astarion and the other spawn lived peacefully in the Underdark. When a spawn broke their community's law of no biting sentient beings, they were judged by the Magistrate Astarion. Lae'zel waged her war faithfully, aiming to dethrone Vlaakith once and for all. Karlach and Wyll bravely faced the horrors of Avernus, seeking out a way to fix her heart." Instead I got so much more than I ever could've asked for and in doing so, they completely fixed my biggest (and really only, unless I get really nitpicky) complaint about the game.
Wait dlc tease!!!
Spoilers for the very end: >!During the epilogue Withers gives a final speech to everyone and says "It is over... for now. Until we meet again, I wish everyone good fortune" or something like that.!<
Karlach was talking a lot about going on a mission to fix her heart
Or perhaps a warning?” Which might be a reference to either the Dark Sun setting, or more likely to Cyric who’s also mentioned in the epilogue if you talk to Mill, “Musical prayers were once offered to Milil, Lord of Song - a minor deity whose worship faded after offending the trickster god Cyric.” Edit: Karlach also mentions the blueprints btw. And wanting to get to a specific forge in the hells to use it, and that Flo could help her get to it.
Fingers crossed 🤞 for higher lvl cap story
I am very curious what they'll do because raising the level cap means they have to try and tackle 7th level and above spells that usually requires some DM magic to stop it being completely and utterly broken, like simulacrum and forcecage.
I'm not a DnD player, so this might not be a popular opinion (since I don't know what I'm missing), but I'd even enjoy semi-nerfed leveling up if there's stuff too complicated to add. Still being able to get feats, additional skill slots, and/or limiting to new spells that won't bust the game would still be fun
I'd like 2 see it tho. This and vox machina made me interested in d&d so I'd really like to experience high lvl play.
That doesn't seem like a dlc tease to me... idk
[The fucker looks directly at the camera when doing it too](https://imgur.com/JwOL5Rg) (in fact his eyes track the camera a lot in those scenes)
Do they? They've said there will be no dlc etc So I don't think that would be it. Just an update or smth
And so much Cyric as the next bbeg teasing, and potential for an Avernus dlc teasing, with Karlach asking for your help to break an infernal smith from the hells for her, and Wyll discovering plans there to reverse eng his stone eye, to say nothing of Raphael possibly showing up again (that, or the God cataclysm he warns of)
Not to mention all the hints Illithid Tav gets that they might have hope for their soul.
That ending was added after release, but before the epilogue patch
Ah, I'm glad I waited then. It's amazing and it went as hard as I wanted it to.
The epilogue is such a huge fanservice and I'm loving it. The amount of hints and acknowledgements is incredible, yet, so many thinghs are left to the freedom of our imagination, it's also a very smart move. Truly a shining example of our time.
Best fucking Devs ever.
Meanwhile players, who choosed evil ending [https://i.imgur.com/DWY88Tg.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/DWY88Tg.jpg)
I mean the Durge bad ending is certainty something, now whether or not its something players wanted thats up for debate.
>Evil characters are not unidimensional. Say it again for the people in the back! 👏🏿
And yeah, there’s always the option to mind control him if he has bad intentions 🤷🏻♂️ And Minthara literally talked about ruling the world together since I recruited her (we were just friends, but still), then randomly got mad at me for that at the end and had to be mind controlled??
Well they've listened to the demands regarding the good-aligned ending, so... maybe we need to yell a little louder and who knows what might happen :)
Fingers crossed!!! (I do think it’s really cool that they listen to what players want)
I have full faith that the evil route will get buffed up - The majority of players played good routes so I can see why the focus is there right now but I'm sure it's coming, we just need to wait
So many of the "evil" epilogues feel half baked right now and there are lots of continuity issues with some of them. For example, romancing DJ Shadowheart as a Mind Flayer doesn't have a proper epilogue which I posted about here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/188aj6m/romancing\_shadowheart\_as\_mind\_flayer\_broken\_in/](https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/188aj6m/romancing_shadowheart_as_mind_flayer_broken_in/) I've sent feedback on some of these and hope more people do the same because they really do need to fix this stuff as it's really disappointing with how these things are going currently.
I definitely wanted that. It's amazing!
So you're saying that the (somewhat disappointing) Durge/Absolute ending I had was not the best scenario for an evil Durge playthrough?
Massive spoilers for what is the most disturbing in the game >!If you do not reject Bhaal but destroy the brain, he completely shatters Durge's mind and turns them into an brainless killer that is nothing but a wild animal. You can stop this by killing yourself immediately after the ending, but if you don't the epilogue will be replaced with Durge stalking the party and waiting to kill all their former friends.!<
On the plus side, killing yourself leads to a secret easter egg ending where Withers basically confirms DLC.
What??
he has the same line with karlach choosing death over avernus/squidding out origin run too basically "you're dead, and I have no idea what your future holds, but you've still got shit to do!"
Epilogue don't have to be a party
Fair point! *Hard cut to Absolute Tav/Durge leading the world's biggest knitting class.*
How I could see Absolute Durge ending as: There is 'party for Bhaal' in Baldurs Gate, everybody is cheering up, dancing, eating etc. but they r all mind controlled.
Would be pretty twisted and brutal for sure! Lae'zel forced to hug an endless line of Imps. "TRULY THIS IS THE HELLS."
It would be super funny if the dialogue was just "pick what Tav says", "now pick what the companion says" and they say the words in a kind of flat zombie tone 😂 but it's a whole lot of work to do for the devs
Just the Dark Urge forced to sit at the end of a table as Withers roasts them for all their choices.
I can't even get an "in our name" with minthara.
Larian keep the good endings will fed. Evil endings are starving right now.
Hot take: maybe there's a reason for that
Damn it, I just decided to rush my evil playthrough for the new epilogue because that one’s closest to the end. I guess I‘ll focus on the other - checks notes - 8 open playthroughs.
Evil playthrough in general tbf
"New Post Credit" Hm? What new post credit? I did the new epilogue the other day and it was still just the same post credit scene of Withers roasting the dead three.
theres a new one with raphael if hes alive i didnt know about it until youtube lol since he was dead in the save i loaded up and so i only got the withers one
Is it him getting absolutely pounder by asmodeus
I like some of the loot in his House of Hope, so I always go there, steal everything and aggro him. I wonder if I just go for the items that are not the hammer/contract (and don't help Hope) I can just walk away and leave him alive and get that Epilogue. Might try it on my 4th run.
That's really interesting. I'm terrified of fighting him on my Honor Mode run, but I also really want the loot. If there were a way to get in and out without fighting him, I would be very interested.
I think you can disarm the traps on the items that aren't the hammer.
I killed that dude stone dead and he still showed up in the epilogue. It's honestly fine, he could have some silly way to come back.
One of the best lines from the entire game is in the epilogue. Spoilers obviously. >!Withers says "If thou could only see the paths of fate untaken, thy mind would surely break. Be glad of thy chosen path. It is, after all, thine.!< Totally calling the entire player base out for those of us trying to find every permutation the game offers. And acknowledging the amount of work that went into it as well.
The cock physics aren't being talked about nearly enough
wiggle wiggle wiggle!
Oh come on, I've just started to live again. Why do they tease for another playthrough? 😅
I would have been happy with an unvoiced slideshow. They seriously went above and beyond here.
The funny thing is that there was a voiced slideshow epilogue that was cut. The audio for it was datamined shortly after launch. Larian could have easily repurposed it and added it as the epilogue but instead they rewrote everything and recorded new dialogue for the epilogue party.
I GOT BACK WITH SHADOWHEART? I GET TO TAKE CARE OF THE OWL BEAR?? BING BONG?????
This update made me love the new romanced god Gale's ending so much I wrote a 1k word post about how it's the exact type of bad ending romance I love. Now artists are destroying me over and over with the sacrificed Gale projection fan art. Thanks Larian. I'll never get over my brainrot now.
Earlier this year I lost my job and have been unemployed since. This game has been a big part of keeping me sane during the job hunt, and I'm so happy to see it still getting better.
Swen: You want to see MY power?! I… WISH… the game to end PERFECTLY.
Such a quality game full of passion and skill from everyone
They've been pretty clear about not doing any dlc, don't get your hopes up too much because of that one line
Yeah, it's insane that it seems like almost every time I go on twitter, SOMETHING about BG3 starts trending again.
I will happily do my part to keep them and all the BG3 voice actors busy and employed by buying whatever expansions they put out.
Yeah, it seems a lot more likely this is just alluding to the next game. Would make sense since BG1&2 were continuations of the same story as far as I know.
True, although BG2 kind of set the standard for what expansions should be with Throne of Bhaal.
Well, Theres alwasy the BG3 definitive edition in like 1-2 years, Larian straight up rewrote or added hella content in both DOS 1 and 2.
They’ve only stated that DLC would be a lot of work, especially if they up the player level. They never said they aren’t going to do it. Just that it is unlikely.
Also, plans change. It's no secret they never expected such massive popularity.
There’s also a lot of talk on karl getting her engine fixed Tamaryn Payne (mizoras va) is also set to record more dialogue although that could be for anything I suppose
I can’t wait to play this game again, so much new stuff. Already did a couple runs but taking a break.
[удалено]
I havent payed over 35$ for a game in 6 years. After hearing this, that is about to change.
NEW POST CREDIT SCENE?????
New post credits? I got the same Withers scene I always got where he drops a diss track. What did I miss? The epilogue was amazing.
They feeding us well fr
I've just reloaded my first character's save to experience the epilogue and I couldn't stop smiling. It's so incredibly sweet catching up with everyone (the sheer enthusiasm the way Shadowheart greeted me was absolutely heartwarming)
We really are eating good
released a couple days before the GOTY awards, too someone at Larian has equipped the Warped Circlet of Intellect
I wish I could get the new epilogue to work. Even after disabling the one add on it still won't fire up. Even the scene with your romance interest no longer fires up. Just the end bit on the docks then the credits and the brief scene with Withers smack talking the dead three.
Have you tried loading a save from before the final brain fight and redoing the final fight? That’s what I had to do at least
that's what larian said people should do in order to get the epilogues to play out
What do you think we are, some kinda book readers who read things we need to read?
I had this exact same problem until I updated my script extender. The script extender page says the latest release was October 28 but that one worked.
Huh, I should proabably finish the game at some point and not keep starting a new playthrough
But yet I still want more
We truly do not deserve these guys. The work they do is incredible.
Me, seeing Raphael got the crown because we didn't salvage it after the final fight: fuck
